Good… but not quite there… wish I could give them a 3.5. It’s pretty clear these guys are trying to bring the unique doughnut craze introduced to the PNW by Voodoo Doughnuts, and while they are close… they’re not quite there.
Call me a doughnut snob, but between the texture of the doughnuts and their overall sweetness, there just wasn’t a good balance like with Pao’s Doughnuts a few streets over. They were all too sweet… the kind of sweetness where they taste incredible the first 3 – 4 bites, but then you get tired of them after that because of the sweetness. Maybe you can finish them in 3 – 4 bites to enjoy them? I’ll leave that up to you.
Also unlike certain doughnut shops, I was disappointed that their doughnuts become tough the next day. I know doughnuts are meant to be fresh, but sometimes you overdo it and buy a dozen, and eating a dozen doughnuts in a day among 2 people a sugar overload. I would’ve liked to enjoy them the next day, especially since I don’t come by the shop often.
I will give them points for creativity, since they have some unique flavors. My favorite was the Reeses Peanut Butter one and the Blueberry Pancake doughnut. I’d recommend eating the Reeses Peanut Butter doughnuts the day you buy them, as the filling gets hard when they’re a day old. The Bourbon Chocolate doughnut was very interesting… you can definitely taste the bourbon in it, which I can’t decide if it’s a good or bad thing in the early morning. XD I also think it’s cool they make a pretzel doughnut shaped like a pretzel!
I’m still going to stick to Pao’s for my doughnut crave — yeah they have generic flavors but they’re good and cheap. Legendary Doughnut can be a little overpriced since some will run you $ 3.50 + over, which kind of makes sense since it’s a specialty doughnut shop. Seems expensive you’re used ot buying a $ 1.50 doughnut from Pao’s or a coconut stick from Sly’s. I’ll come here if I want something different, and maybe when Seahawks season starts I’ll start my morning with a few Wilson’s.
At least they’re WAAAAAAY better than Psycho Doughnuts in the Bay Area (another Voodoo rip off), so just for that I’m rounding this review up to 4 stars instead of 3. =P

In honor of National Donut Day, I visited Legendary Donuts. This was my first trip. Seriously one of my favorite donuts ever!
Ordered a Lucille Ball, which is a dense vanilla cake donut with orange, cream cheese, and white chocolate frosting. I loved it! It’s definitely a rich treat. I ate the whole thing and kind of regretted it afterwards. But it was too good to stop eating!
I read reviews about the donuts being highly priced. My single donut was $ 2.95 with tax. Honestly, that didn’t seem crazy to me, considering the quality and that I could have made two servings out of it.
You can bet I will be back for more donuts!

My first impression was, «It feels like a streetside bar that serves doughnuts!»
The vibe is interesting, it is kind of dark, a little bit punk, and witty, unconventional for a doughnut shop, but that’s exactly what they do — they don’t serve up just regular doughnuts. Everything is something different with fun names and lots of toppings and the most colorful doughnuts you will have tried. You can’t really go wrong with any choice at Legendary Doughnuts and be ready for a super sugar high. We tried various mini doughnuts which is a great option so you can try a bit of every flavor. Their regular sized doughnuts are huge, some are even cake size. My favorites were the fruity pebbles and the Oprah — a maple bar with candied bits of bacon on top. That is all the description you need to try this place out!
The lasting impression? «Yes, indulge.»

This place has a nice enviornment. I got a dozen donuts to sample with a friend. We liked the Oprah best and the pancake one the least (I ended up throwing that one out). The employee was curt so I hope there is someone else there next time.

I guess everyone has their favorite doughnut places, some folks like the standard «old time» doughnuts and others like the crazy type of doughnuts like Legendary and I am definitely one of those folks. Legendary doughnuts are just that Legendary, their Doughsants are my favorites they are deep-​fried doughnuts and then topped with a bunch of crazy toppings, my favorites are the Oprah, Caramel Sea Salt, and the Peanut butter and chocolate.
Ok my favorite «old-​time» doughnuts are still Top Pots, but if you want something totally different then stop in a check them out, just come with an empty stomach these doughnuts are big and please don’t compare them to Voodoo because Legendary are way better!!! I like myself some Voodoo, but not as good as Legendary.

Similar to Voodoo, I’m glad they have an assortment of old school style along with artsy styles to choose from.
I love the Tiger Tail not too sweet.
The Opra’s Maple Bar is outstanding salt in the bacon adds annother deminsion.
Ambiance is cool the creativity and quality should reflect an upbeat lighter tone.
Service is Great, donuts to die for!

Picked up 3 donuts here after breakfast at DOA.
Cool looking interior. Donuts were overall clever, well conceived and well made.
Fruity pebbles covered donut was good. The donut was soft and the icing was sweet. The fuity pebbles worked well on top.
I also got a maple bacon donut. The maple and the donut itself were delicious. However the charred crumbled bacon was over powering and unpleasant. I love me some crispy bacon, but on the top a donut is not the place for it. The best bacon donuts don’t over cook their bacon. Hopefully they take note of this.
Other than that it was delicious, and reasonably priced. Definitely worth checking out, just be warned about the way they cook their bacon.

Having recently moved from Seattle to Tacoma, I was bummed that I no longer had a nearby Top Pot. After my first trip to Legendary, however, I think I’ll be just fine. I like to think of Legendary as a mashup of Seattle’s Top Pot (size) and Portland’s Voodoo (creativity), which I guess makes perfect sense since it’s geographically located between the two.
Anyway, these donuts are HUGE, and the choices are AWESOME, from their take on cronuts (which they call doughsants), to their maple + bacon options (not sure why they call it the Oprah), to my personal favorite, the Tinkerbell.
My only complaint, if you could even call it that, is that they don’t seem to stay stocked with the classics (old fashioned, cake, etc.) that well. Maybe I’m not getting there early enough (8 am) or maybe I’ve just had bad luck with arriving right after a large order that depleted their stock, but I’ve struck out on old fashioned 2 of the 3 times I’ve been.
Also, if I’m being *really* critical, I actually think they use too much bacon… (What am I saying?! That’s not possible! Never remind, forget I said that.)

I have a sweet tooth, but their doughnuts are just a bit too sweet for me. Caramel Sea Salt Doughsant is where it’s at though. I love their doggy treats which smells heavenly and looks so darn cute!

Most amazing doughnuts you will EVER eat!!! Food Coma here I come! Krispy Kreme AIN’T got NOTHING on these guys! $ 2.50 is worth it for the deliciousness of these doughnuts! My favorite is the sprinkles doughnut! I’ll definitely be back again and get some catering to bring some amazing deliciousness to my co-​workers, family, and friends! Thanks Legendary Donuts!
The inside is really great. Kinda was hoping in the future the inside isn’t black. It makes it look too dark and dreary. Other than that, cheer it up, and make it mobile friendly, like wireless set ups, and plug-​ins to charge phones, tablets, or laptops.

I don’t care too much for donuts, but I do really like croissant donuts, and they have the Doughsants here! So I’m giving 5 stars because they have those, have a large selection of interesting flavors, and not all are overly-​topped with too sweet of frosting that will give you cavities after the first bite. Some are a little bit too sweet for me, but I still think they are all tasty.

Sex in the City and the Yogi Bear were amazing. The Yogi bear was like a PB and J sandwich in a glazed doughnut! Yum!
The doughsants were good, but tasted pretty much like a standard glazed doughnut.
The staff was friendly and nice as we took forever to make up our mind.

My friend took me here after having brunch. Not having a dessert after a meal is not a meal, they have so many different kinds of donuts, if I had the money and stomach, I’d buy most of them. They all looked so delicious. Especially the hot fudge sundae one. I ended up getting their doughnut croissant, my friends got an apple fritter and another type.
When you’re up at the registers, there are some treats for the dogs too! I got my friends dog a donut treat with orange frosting and sprinkles.

I have been here numerous times and each time the staff has been consistently according and sociable.
Atmosphere… Reminds me of a grunge cupcake café… I guess that says «doughnut» pretty well! Cubic seating, dimly lit with high industrial ceilings painted black, and many local papers to read. It’s noticeably greasy with random discarded napkins hanging around like tumble weeds.
The doughnut menu changes up, not sure how to predict the daily selection, but most staples are plentiful at most given times.
The doughnuts themselves are large and sloppy, best way to put it. They come in three standard price ranges for the size and complexity of the varieties, with «legendary» being the most expensive at $ 3.75 or so per pastry.
Doughnuts– they’re pretty good, but not great or amazing. This place is more focused on being unique, and a little daring.

Great location, but really dark. These days you want to go into a place and it feel open, airy and clean. Red, purple and black paint feels very dated and a little grungy, but I’m getting the vibe from Seattle/​Tacoma that grunge is all the rage.
Service is nice. Donuts are good. Prices are fair. I’m curious if the donut fillings are made from scratch?
I want their donuts to be named after more people. There are a few, but I feel like they should all be named after some one or something Legendary and for a reason. Bill Gates is a chocolate cake donut? I mean, he’s a pretty boring white guy… Shouldn’t he be a vanilla cake donut with white frosting and some blue glasses drawn on it? And the Homer Simpson is a giant glazed donut? But he eats a glazed donut with pink frosting and sprinkles…
Good donut spot for the area. 3.5 stars, but Unilocal doesn’t have half stars.

Legendary Doughnuts weren’t as legendary as I thought. They bordered between average and good. I found their doughnuts to be a little too dense and hard for my liking.
However, I do have to say that I decided to try their goods in the early evening so maybe the morning batches are a lot better. Although, I believe they should be more consistent if that were the case.

I don’t remember what I ordered or how I managed to stumble into this place.
I hazily recall reading a sign that said donuts, so after I drank a few beers at Red Hot I decided to check it out.
The donut names are fun, but like I said, I don’t remember what I ordered. Maybe an Arnold Schwarzenegger? I don’t know.
I do know that for some reason I thought it was a good idea to buy 10 different donuts. Why? I wasn’t buying for anyone else.
My critique of these donuts… well, they will make you fat. These fuckers are huge and they slather frosting and icing all over them!
My favorite by far was their version of the cronut. I went for that sucker before all the others.
How many calories was it? Did I severely shorten my life span?
I may have consumed around 5000 calories, because I took all of these home and proceeded to gorge myself.

Friend said doughsants here were pretty good so came to give them a try. They have lots of creative doughnuts both in shape, name, and flavors. But the flavors are questionable.
GOOD
* Old Fashioned — Simple classic glazed cake doughnut. Hard to get wrong, probably the best tasting thing we tried.
OK
* Fire ball — Doughnut ball with a spicy jalapeño filling. Nice for kicks, but not something I’d come back for.
MEH
* Snickers Doughsant and Oprah Doughsant — Both had rather sweet, heavy, creamy, icings. Tasted like the icing flavors, but my mouth felt like it was dry and full of thick peanut butter consistency cream. Was really hard to actually feel the texture of the doughsant. I’d recommend trying a glazed doughsant instead.
AVOID
* Yogi Bear — This is basically a peanut butter and jelly doughnut in the shape of a paw, but there’s very little peanut butter and jelly and it’s mostly just very lightly glazed dough.

Yum! Being a portland native we have our famous Voodoo donuts. This place has that kind of vibe without all the silly business of waiting in line for hours for a donut. Plus, they definately deliver on deliciousness.
Their case offered a wide variety of donuts big and small and just down right absurd. They have everything from your classic donut holes dressed up in delicious flavors to a cinnamon bun the size of your face. Salty, sweet, spicy and savory (alliteration yo!), they have it all! Plus It looks like you can have themed donut cakes as well.
We got four donuts to try, some alittle disappointing and some downright tastey. We tried the sea salt caramel dosant, blueberry fritter, Bavarian creampie donut, and a blueberry filled one as well. The Bavarian creame was a tad disappointing as the creame was more creame and less custardy. The blueberry fritter is the size of a catchers mitt and because of that the middle of ours was still doughy and stringy. Sadly I was only able to eat around the edges. The blueberry filled was our second favorite. My favorite by far was the sea salt caramel dosant. Their rendition of the big cronut fad. Very delicious giant! The caramel is nice and creamy and the punches of salt work amazingly well with the crunchy chewy texture of the donut.
All in all I enjoyed the donuts here. My girlfriend even surprised me at work on her way home with another sea salt caramel dosant which I told her I was too full to eat… only to be consumed a few minutes later with a nice dark cup of coffee. Super glad we gave this place a shot!
