I, unlike the other reviewers, probably didn’t pick the right formula of things together. Food tasted bland, service was alright(you need to pick up a marker with your menu to give it to the cashier – didn’t know this until we got up there). Haven’t been back since.

A must visit place when we are visiting the Capitol city. Was introduced by friends last year after a game and have since added it to our must go list on every visit. Lots of food and you can taste the freshness.

You can’t go wrong with this place! It’s healthy for, cooked in a healthy way. I love the variety of the grains that you can have with your meat and vegetables. This is one of the few places I can go where I don’t feel bloated after eating.

1 Fresh is a great restaurant but you really need to know the right formula to make the perfect stir fry, salad or soup. I love that they offer black rice with their meals now and that there are so many combinations of meats and vegetables. One down side is they now charge when you add meats and extras which they didn’t use to do. They are usually prompt with getting your food out quickly and hot and fresh. A great tip is, if you aren’t sure what sauce to use you can ask to taste the sauces and they will give you samples. This is a great place to grab a meal quickly, especially if you want a variety of flavors that you want to put together yourself.

I moved away from Tallahassee for a long time. This is one of my most missed places, was the first place I had when I moved back, and the only place in town I make a point to visit once a week. It’s difficult to describe to people who’ve never had it what it is. It’s stir fry but it’s not something I would describe as Asian. There’s a lot of customization available so you can certainly make a dish that tastes more like something you’d get at an Asian restaurant. But you can also customize it so that your dish tastes more like Mexican cuisine. Or Italian. Or just totally unique. The staff is always really nice. The place is clean The mise-en-scene of the restaurant is uniquely it’s own. Highly recommend going here once or a million times to try out all the permutations of their stir fry.

They have soooo many different options of food! From Asian, Italian, to Mexican. The pickiest of eaters could come here and be satisfied. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would suggest this restaurant to any one who is looking for a tasty inexpensive laid back lunch!

When you walk in there are dry erase menus and markers. You choose what form you want your food: stir fry, quesadillas, wrap. Then you select your grain, protein, veggies, sauce, etc. I had a stir fry bowl with brown rice, quinoa, chicken, water chestnuts, spinach, bell peppers, broccoli(a few other veggies), peanut sauce, topped with cashews and cilantro. — it was delicious! This is a local owned business. The owner is also very friendly, as is the wait staff.

This is the first restaurant I ate at when I first moved to Tallahassee. The food is relatively fresh tasting and I love the menu where you can customize your bowl. There’s gluten-free and vegetarian options since you can create your own meal. The miso soup is not the best, but you will enjoy the main entrée will be delicious. Definitely an underrated restaurant and may be due to location. If placed closer to one of the college campuses, it will gain high reputation.

After a long day of FSU Football & driving up fro Orlando, we stopped by for a bite to eat. Great find! The food was good & fresh to order. I would recommend trying each page of the menu.

I’m a fan of the black rice bowl. Not sure why, because I can’t articulate the reason for my preference of it over white/brown/stir fried rice. But anyway. The key reason to come here is that you’ll only have yourself to laud(or blame) for the outcome of your dish. You are 100% in control of what goes in to it. Trust the kitchen, they’re going to prepare it correctly. This location(and Cap. Cir across from Sam’s) has never messed up for me. I’m a fan of the«Bob» sauce. Billed as «green salsa with a bite» — it just delivers what I’m looking for each time. If you’ve never been, then you deserve the first-hand experience to judge for yourself. If you like stir-fry, then there’s really no reason to go anywhere else. They’re more than just stir-fry, but I’d recommend you go with that on your first visit. Branch out afterwards.

One of my favorite Tallahassee staples! Big servings, huge variety of starches, veggies, meats, etc. Good for vegetarian and vegan as well!

Pile those veggies on sky high, boys, we are eating fresh tonight! I LOVE vegetables. I mean, it probably sounds weird but growing up I used to eat broccoli and cheese as a meal for dinner sometimes. Vegetables have a warm place in my heart and I was really craving a place where I could get them mixed together in an awesome sauce with some seafood and just pig out on stir fry. I came into 1 Fresh and was helped by a very nice young gentleman who explained the ordering process to me. You pick your base(which could be rice, lettuce, noodles, etc) then you pick as many vegetables as you want and then you pick a protein. After that, you choose a sauce to get all the vegetables cooked in. Now I wanted to go the healthier route so I asked for no oil when doing my stir fry. I also ordered a ton of vegetables and then shrimp with the salsa, which is one of the healthier options on the menu. After I ordered, I sat down and waited. The food didn’t take very long to come out which I was grateful for. The vegetables had been prepared perfectly and there was so much food but it all tasted so fresh and delicious that it was hard to stop eating. The flavors were awesome and light. The shrimp was excellent. Pricing was fair and reasonable for a stir fry joint. I paid $ 13 for a drink and my create-your-own stir fry, which I think is pretty decent for as much food as I got. Some of the meats are cheaper, but shrimp is one of the most expensive. I’ll definitely be returning here soon.

EVERYTIME I go to visit Tallahassee I HAVE to go to 1 Fresh. It’s practically a tradition at the point. However, I always stick to my tried and true meal and never sway from that although I keep telling myself to get the black rice next time :) The Teriyaki #2 sauce is the way to go… don’t even bother trying another flavor. The one thing I miss though??? MALTBALLS! OHHOWYOUAREMISSED!!! :(

Locally owned and awesome! I recently moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and the thing that I miss most from Tallahassee is 1 Fresh. My only complaint about them is they don’t have FedEx delivery of their rice bowls to my area. I’m going back to Tally for a visit in February and I will stop at 1 Fresh first before visiting anyone else. Yeah mom, this means you… If your food was this good, maybe I’d visit you first!

I was visiting a friend in Tally and she recommended this as a good place to grab something pretty healthy and good. It absolutely lived up to my expectations. I really liked the dry-erase markers/write-on menu concept that allowed me to select my carb, my meat, and lots of veggies and seasonings. I did a basic lo mein with tons of veggies and everything tasted great! Not sure why the negative comments about the restrooms, unless 1 Fresh has paid attention and improved. I found them clean and quite adequate. Nice experience and I am sad we don’t have one of these near us.

Note to self: clean eating is generally best attempted at home. Clean eating in my kitchen = delicious, healthy, reasonably priced eats. Clean eating at 1 Fresh Stirfry = bland, overpriced, questionably sauced foodstuffs. I’ll stick with the farmer’s market and some coconut oil, thankyouverymuch.

Tasty food, fresh and fast. Free Wifi which is a major plus in the land of Tallahassee where most places haven’t figured out the importance of moving past the dark ages.(Did you hear that Subway, Firehouse, Longhorn, Boston Market and the rest of you lunch time losers of my business?) 1 Fresh itself is cold and dark despite all the large windows. Is this how they keep their food fresh? This I do not know. I have to admit I was surprised to see a giant framed poster outside the bathrooms that read, «Heck Yeah we make taste buds really shine, but our bathrooms sparkle.» Heck yeah no they don’t. It’s more like a «clean» you’d find at an old truck stop or campground. I will say they were cold & dark, so at least they are consistent with their theme. What is it with cold & dark anyway? Were they depressed when they built this place? Or do they think people will want to order extra warm food if they are sad and gloomy? The tunes they play in this place is nothing short of noise. I’m not talking birds squawking noise or traffic noise. I’m taking noise like you’d experience sitting in a small room filled with 10,000 kindergarteners who are 1 bottle and two hours past their nap time. It’s music you’d expect to find in an over crowded health club. I half expected one of their staff to come and try to high pressure me into signing up for a year’s membership. All in all, the food was good enough to come back. The prices were not great for lunch, but not a rip off either. They get extra points for providing Wifi but lose them for making my ears bleed with music that is pure noise. And they lose more points for the décor. My advice… Get your food to go and then drive across to the park to enjoy your lunch.

One Fresh is a Tallahassee tradition. It’s always delicious and I love supporting the locally owned business. The best sauce for stir fry is Teriyaki #2, yum! The Krab One-Tons are also delicious(they’re basically Crab Rangoons). If you’re feeling adventurous, try the quinoa. It is like a healthier version of rice, but tastes very similar and is delicious. Such a great amount of food for the price, too! I’m not sure why more FSU students don’t flock to this place.
