I wanted to like it here so badly and tried the restaurant multiple times to really give it a chance. There are so many pricey(and very good) sushi places in Tallahassee so I was hopeful this would be a cheap alternative, but it is even worse than Sumo Sabi. You can get a sushi combo meal(with seaweed and cucumber salad and California roll) for under $ 10 with traditional raw or cooked rolls(a number of choices). Multiple times the seaweed salad and california rolls have tasted«off» and I cannot identify what exactly it is, but it makes me weary of the other food. Raw salmon and tuna have never tasted particularly fresh and rolls are nothing to rave about. First time I went my plate had a dead fruit fly on it, which I still ignored in forming my opinions of the taste of the food. Also there is not enough room to queue people lining up to order. On the plus side, they serve decent boba tea and have fast order and sit service. And lots of parking.

Only been a couple of times, but have been decently satisfied each time. Sushi is great, but a little pricey, considering its an order-at-the-counter restaurant. Will be back again though, since we live only a few blocks away.

Stayed in a hotel across the street, and didn’t know the area too well. So glad we chose to come here for dinner! Service was good, and the food was delicious.

After being recommended to us, I decided to try with some co-workers. Great atmosphere and reasonable prices. I got the Thai basil chicken bento box and it was great. The beans were fabulous. A friend got a sashimi bowl and thought it was much better than Masa’s. I will definitely be back.

Went to Oishii because it was next to my hotel. Probably should have held out for something else. The food was remarkable only in its blandness. Fish was not terrible, but the texture was mushy. Rice was fine, but not seasoned like sushi rice; it was just rice. My to go order had 5 packs of soy sauce, but no wasabi or ginger: did I miss something? Seaweed salad was okay. The vegetable garnish was dried out. On the plus side, the cashier was pleasant, packed the order well, and it was cheap. But those are wasted calories I’ll never get back.

Popped into Oishii on a Saturday around lunch & found a large and largely empty restaurant. Order at the counter, food is brought out to you. I came by for a sushi hankering and Oishii met my needs, but it wasn’t life changing. I had the lunch deal — 2 rolls of your choice(4 pieces each) and 8 pieces of a Cali roll. Two salads, one cucumber and one seaweed. For $ 9.50, it wasn’t a bad deal but there wasn’t any«wow» factor. The restaurant itself is large and could definitely accommodate a big party. It’s a nicer vibe too, could see it being a good date spot. Parking outside is good, cute area. Overall, pretty alright.

Pretty good for a fast food sushi place. I ordered the foxy lady roll, steamed pork dumplings and soup togo. My order was ready pretty quick(under 10mins)! The sauce for the dumplings was awesome & had a nice sweet spice to it. The sushi was good– but no reason for me to HAVE to go there with so many other options around. The tempura could’ve been crunchier but that’s my only real complaint. The inside is fun with a light modern feel.

Overall, another upscale fastfood joint to add to the latest bunch in Tallahassee, but with sushi and other dishes this time! Oishii offers your favorite Thai and Japanese at a much more affordable price and in half the time! I tried out the pad thai and was more than happy with the dish. They don’t skimp by any means on portion size and can up the spice for those crazy people amongst you. So, if you are deciding between Blaze, Oishii, and Smashburger, I would take Oishii hands down.

I wish I would heard about the specials before ordering. Had I known I would of definitely enjoyed the bento box. Sad I didn’t get the chance. I got to try some of the Korean barbecue and it was a lovely flavor. Sweat and spicy with the perfect amount of acid. I also enjoyed a Philadelphia roll that featured raw shredded beats as a garnish. Service was amazing!

I don’t think I need to come here again even though it is convenient for lunch. I’ve been here a few times and love the ambiance.(One star for that.) I’ve had the red chicken curry with rice. Red curry should be a flavor explosion in your mouth. It wasn’t. The amount of chicken was minuscule and there were not many veggies. The broth soup was not worth the small price tag. My sushi was fishy last time I had it.(Spicy salmon and spicy tuna). The sushi was mostly rice and were not tightly rolled. Today’s meal was the Katsu chicken bento box. How do I say this nicely? Tyson’s processed chicken tenders would have been better. The chicken looked heavily processed and was coated with a sweet Panko breeding. It was plentiful but not tasty. I left most of it. The rice was not done well and the sesame seeds on the top would have been better toasted or left off completely. The lo mein — meh. The green beans were very crunchy. I like them crunchy but you blanch them first, then sauté them to bring out the natural sweetness. Azu is not that far away.

Just had the katsu bento box here! The portion was really big and the katsu was still hot. Super delicious~ I went during happy hour on Monday so my bento box + drink was under $ 10! I think this is gonna be in my top lunch places in tally.

Bustling place during lunch hour. Makes sense, quick and easy ordering and very quick turnaround time to get your order. Our order had a small snafu in that one of the entrees was messed up. Like no wait we didn’t order Pad Thai tofu mess up, where’s the tofu fried rice ? The server/food runner came out to the table quick with steam large bowls of food(portions are bigger than they look) and after realizing the mistake went immediately to fix it. Ordered rolls and and those came out after the main dishes. I guess whatever gets done first they bring out. Overall, they get the job done but I’m not sure we’ll be back again. Worth checking out!

My husband and I decided to try Oishii Bento for dinner tonight as we were kid free. We both really love Asian cuisine and I have been patiently waiting for this to open for months. The restaurant has a very nice, modern but colorful design. It is pleasing to the eyes. As this was our first visit, we were a bit confused looking at the menu, however, the staff was very helpful in deciphering how to put our meal together. I placed an order for General Tso’s chicken in a noodle bowl and my husband ordered the Soy Chili rice plate. After we paid and were walking to get our drinks, I noticed a table with the Bento boxes. The bento box looked delicious and I regretted ordering the noodle bowl immediately. I went to the counter to see if it was to late to change my order. The staff was very accommodating. They allowed me to change my order and pay the difference in price. Our food arrived promptly, and while the flavors were good and the food tasted fresh, I couldn’t get away from the thought that I was eating Asian food from a mall. I would definitely recommend Oishii Bento for a quick and easy fix of Asian cuisine.

My wife and I ate here a few days ago. It is part of the new development on Magnolia that includes a Blaze pizza, SmashBurger, etc. the décor is as others have said contemporary and with clean lines. Staff was friendly. The food however was hit and miss. The clear soup, miso soup, seaweed salad, and ginger salad were all fresh and quite flavorful. The boba tea, which is hard to find in Tallahassee, was also spot on. But the pad Thai was drowning in overpowering sauce rather than showing any type of refinement or even care. And the two sushi rolls I ordered were dry and flavorless — below what you would find at Hasu or Jasmine, and miles below Sakura(in terms of Tally sushi). It has only been opened for a few weeks, so there is a chance things will turn around as some of the food /was/good. For now, though, I’d stop in again for the boba, but would not find myself ordering the sushi anytime soon. [note: I gave it 3 stars because 2.5 is not an option].

I like the concept of this restaurant, given that it is Pan-Asian and has something for every palate. They also have boba tea, which is hard to find here in Tallahassee. However, there is not enough space in the queue line, and it rapidly could extend out the door during a busy hour. Food comes out very quickly, but sushi takes a little bit longer(prepared fresh). I ordered the Sushi Combo($ 9.50 for 16 rolls, even though the menu says 4+4+8=12?): 8 California rolls, and then 8 rolls of your choosing. I ordered spicy tuna and the crunchy roll, which were good, but the California roll was seriously lacking in avocado and crab meat, not to mention the construction looked hasty and the rolls fell apart as I picked them up. My boyfriend ordered the Szechuan shrimp noodle bowl, which was pleasant. The noodles were cooked perfectly, but the sauce wasn’t as spicy as we expected for Szechuan. I also ordered a mango boba tea, which was refreshing and had a nice, mild mango flavor. One of my friends also found a dead fruit fly on her sushi plate, which wasn’t very appetizing. I’m more sympathetic to these things because I know that where there is fresh food, there are fruit flies. Still, plates should be wiped clean before going out to the tables. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated(it’s sort of a hip, urban style, not the typical Asian restaurant decoration that you might expect). It’s relatively new, so I’m sure they’re still working out some kinks in the system. And I’ll definitely be back for some boba tea!

Magnolia Grove has provided us with with proven chain operations, which provide quick, affordable, and tasty options. Oishii Bento is no exception. The Sushi Rolls Combo Box — an eight piece California Roll(meh) with two classic four piece rolls. I chose the House Roll and the Mexican. The former was tender and the fresh fish was good. The Mexican had tempura filling, which provided a crunch but not as much as I had hoped for. The box also comes with seaweed salad and(I believe) a cucumber salad, which I found both to be outstanding. The service was fine and the restaurant is noticeably spotless from top to bottom. I ordered take out and received my order in about ten minutes. Keep up those fast ticket times! I definitely have a lot more to experience here, but Oishii Bento gets a pat on the back after visit number one.

Let me begin this review by saying I actually like their sushi. I gave them 1 star because of their poor customer service. This will be a long review. So they’ve been advertising the«50% off your entire purchase if you’re a student» deal, which started yesterday and ends tomorrow. I already tried their sushi once and I enjoyed it so my boyfriend and I made a plan to go there tomorrow. But today, I wanted some sushi for myself and decided to get it to-go. I thought having sushi for 2 days in a row would be exciting. I placed my to-go order of sushi and sashimi combo and a bobba. But when I showed my student ID to get the discount, the cashier told me that the deal was only for dining in. I was bummed but thought I must have missed that in the ads. I paid over $ 30 because there was a long line behind me. But when I checked their ads back in my car, it doesn’t say anywhere that the deal was only for dining in. One ad did say alcoholic beverages are excluded but other than that, no exclusion. I went back to point that out to them. I thought they would correct the amounts or at least apologize for their mistake. I didn’t see my cashier so started talking to the manager. And this manager is the sole reason why I am writing this review here. When I mentioned that their ads(and even the flyer on their door) did not mention that the deal was only for dining in, she had this annoyed look and told me that it is always for dining in only. I told her AGAIN it wasn’t stated in the ads. She said it is always like that in every store, as if I was the one to blame for not assuming that. I wasn’t expecting to argue with her this long and felt bad for the people who were behind me so I told her that they needed to be more clear about restrictions next time. I honestly thought she would sincerely apologize for the mistake and was going to leave there if she did. Instead, she kept her attitude and told me it is just how it always works. And she even went ahead and lied to me by telling me they weren’t even taking to-go orders at the moment. Ummm, I’m sorry but I just picked up my order??? After I told her that, she was simply telling me there was nothing she could do about it. At this point, I couldn’t even deal with her anymore so I left. Yeah, sushi was good but I didn’t enjoy as much as I would have after having to talk to her. And later I found out that some other people were told that the deal could be used for both dining in and to go yesterday. Great consistency, y’all. Good food is one thing about having a successful business but knowing how to talk to your customers is another thing. I had only one other manager who talked to me like that when the restaurant made a mistake. Remember Ginza Red? Yeah, that upscale Japanese restaurant that went out of business only after few months. Here’s my tip: don’t blame your customer for your own mistake. Especially not when you’re a manager.

Nice, fast Asian/sushi spot on Magnolia. We had a variety of sushi, Mongolian and Thai dishes for lunch. We were all happy with our orders and service was friendly and efficient. Large spot with TVs and convenient location. Overall, we were pleased and will return. Dishes were prepped with fresh ingredients and presented nicely.

Just wanted to grab some samples to take home as I have been waiting for this place to open. I love all the colors in here! It’s very bright and colorful with plenty of seating. Everyone had a smile on their face and was very welcoming and helpful. I decided on the Oishii Roll and the Boca Roll. I liked both rolls but really loved the Oishii roll the best. I also got the lo mein noodles with tofu and that was very tasty. The total came to $ 30, so it was a little on the high side for me for two rolls and an order of noodles. All in all, the food and service was very good so I will be back with my son for a dine-in experience as I know he will get a kick out of their huge fish tank on the wall:). The décor in this place is pretty cool! Update 1÷25÷16: Just picked up the sushi combo box and it’s delicious! Great value and Nick was super with explaining the sushi menu!

UNI in TLH Score: TBD(although, I will note that on opening day — they did not have it in stock. It is possible that they are determining what the demand will be before committing to actually having it to sell. At long last, Oishii Bento is open! Today was the grand opening, and so I stopped by to check out the menu. I think Oishii Bento does a very good job of representing the Sushi /Bento segment in the ever evolving«Fast Casual Restaurant» market. The Décor is what I call«Edgy Neon Industrial» and seems well suited for this fast-paced Sashimi/Nigiri joint. I lined up — there were only two ahead of me, and there are two cash registers.(Remember, this is «Fast Casual» — not Table Service) The cashier was very pleasant and took my order. «Uni(Nigiri), Surf Clam(Sashimi) & Spicy Scallop(Nigiri). Alas. Uni wasn’t meant to be. They didn’t have it in stock. Now, for most folks — this isn’t going to be a big deal. But for me? — Well, take a look at the majority of my Unilocal profile pictures… I understand being out of Uni — especially in TLH. The fact is, Sushi joints in town likely have a challenge moving it. That said, there are a handful that seem to keep it stocked(Sakura and Kiku seem to ALWAYS have it when I go, and Masa generally has it) but they are NOT in the«fast casual» market. Nonetheless, I’m a believer in having a menu represented. Especially on Grand Opening day. But I digress, and after all, I did give this a 4-star rating… The Spicy Tuna/Salmon tartare was tasty and well presented — as was the Surf Clam and the Spicy Scallop. I’m a fan — and I will return. After all, this represents a Uni-outlet that is within walking distance for me. Who knows — Oishii Bento may transform itself into TLH’s Uni-Central(hint, hint). If you fancy a good sushi bar and would even be open to paying 20% less than full-service sushi bars, you should definitely give this a shot. I don’t see an online presence for this establishment yet, although while we’re waiting for its own website, feel free to visit the Boca Raton Oishii Bento website( ) I didn’t pay attention to the other menus, but I know for certain that the front and back of the sushi menu is the same as what I saw here today.
