Came in here for the first time and bought two 1 meat meals, one of the meals was ribs. Wow! The rib meal had only four thin ribs in the box and they charged 14.99 for it! The ribs were not partically meaty so the 14.99 price is outrageous. You could go to Spring Creek BBQ and get generous portions at a much lower price, including ribs, and the food tastes much better. I could have gotten a full slab of fully cooked ribs for 10.00 or less at HEB where you just need to heat them up. Plus the second 1 meat meal had a thin portion of brisket, not much meat for the price of 10.99. From now on end, I am either buying a slab of full cooked ribs at the supermarket or go to Spring Creek BBQ, but I am not returning to Dickey’s because of their pricing and small portions.

I came in here because I was craving bbq chicken. I walked out with nothing. I went in and wanted to look at the menu. I was shocked and appalled at the pricing. Three times she asked if I was ready to order. Is aid no I’m still looking. When I was finally ready to order she if ignored em for about five minutes before I walked out.

This used to be very good barbq but I think it’s under new management now and it is absolutely the worst I’ve ever had now!

We are no experts on BBQ, but we found the chicken barbeue to be absolutely delicious. The sides were fine and the two people on staff today were extremely friendly and kind. The lady offered to let us taste the chicken before we ordered and even brought us a sample of turkey that we didnt’ ask for. I put my salad in one of those tiny bowls, and the cashier gave me a small plate so I could get more. I was surprised to see the bad reviews here, but they seem to be based on one bad employee and not the food or the sweet people who were working today.

Listen up! It’s rated 2 stars for a reason… and that reason is the rude Hispanic lady working the cash register eyeing you as to how much of the sides you put in your bowl. Watch out if 2 green beans spill out! You will be told by that lady that she will charge you extra next time. This happened on 2 different visits. The food was average. Nothing out of the ordinary. If it wasn’t for the poor service we would keep on coming back. BTW, the same lady brought out our side of fried okra to the table. Ironically, 2 fried okra overflowed from the order she brought to our table. To threaten to charge customers extra because of 2 green beans that spill outside of a side dish bowl is not only chasing away all of the customers, but also a very foolish business decision. We will drive the extra miles to Rudy’s for a much better dining experience!

Thank you, Cynthia, the self-proclaimed owner of this franchise. Another miserable experience at this location. I know a lot of people review this restaurant based on their BBQ credentials, but as is often the case, it’s the point-of-sale experience that leaves the impression. I’m a yankee transplant, but still understand the subtleties of regional BBQ and other foods. This place is fine. It’s not winning any competitions, but it’s the Chili’s of BBQ chains. When both parents work and the kids are in elementary school, sometimes OK is good enough. Their rolls are good, the brisket is passable and their hot BBQ sauce has a nice tang. Having said that, we’ve avoided this place for years since its opening due to the consistently low reviews. So when we do break down and occasionally order every month or two, we are reminded of why we have not eaten there recently. They have always made customers feel guilty for asking for to-go containers for sauce, pickles and onions. They are not even listed on the website and their phone rings indefinitely. This makes it impossible to order takeout ahead, and customers are forced to come wait in line. It’s telling that the corporate office wants to distance themselves as much as possible from this particular location and does not even list their existence on their location finder. So as I’m checking out and being dressed down for taking an extra sauce, being told that I would usually be charged for this, I mention my disbelief that their service has never once been affected by their historically low satisfaction ratings. That’s when Cynthia, an African-American woman that claimed to be the owner, started blowing kisses at me and said«but you keep coming». That’s a fantastic business model.

We have tried this place a few times now and have always been disappointed. The BBQ is just very dry especially the brisket. The sauce is very watery … no stick and not great flavor. There are just so many better BBQ places around there is no reason to waste your time and $ at this place.

Ordered takeout and when we got it back to the house, found the barbecue alittle dry. They forgot to provide barbecue sauce, luckily we had some in the refrigerator. Come on y’all…

We like the food. However there is one lady there that we find very rude. When she is not there the others are ok. We usually get the family pack to go.

Great food, friendly staff, clean dining — enjoyed our lunch. Can’t complain — if you need a quick meal for a reasonable price, come here — no waiting for your order and not too crowded/loud.

Keep driving… It’s really unfortunate to have such a prime location and serve a Texas favorite and STILL manage to stink it up. Out of the gates, the service was bad. My son asked to try and small«sample» of one of their meats as he was unsure if it might be too dry or spicy. They told him no. He thought perhaps they didn’t understand his small request, so he rephrased and asked again. They again said no… but with a face of disbelief that he was dare ask again. The meat was not fresh, the sides were clearly over done, and the mac’n’cheese was awful. How do you mess up mac’n’cheese? We still wanted to give them a chance and ate as much as we could, but all of us walked with plates that were, at best, half eaten. Sad to say, we will not be coming back. Ever. Yuck is all I can think to say.

I eat here 3 – 4 times per week and it is by far the best Dickey’s I have ever been to and it rivals the best BBQ places in the area(not very many). The meat is super tender and moist. Owners always present and employees are dedicated!

If you love BBQ, go elsewhere. Steam table BBQ slathered in sauce is subpar even by chain BBQ standards.

For«fast food» BBQ, this is my local choice. Meats are consistently great, sauce is good and tangy. The sides can be hit it miss, but I stick with the beans(a little runny, usually) and one of the potato salads. This Dickey’s stands out from others around this area. One a few miles away seemed to have tough or fatty meat the few times I would go there. The food is great and the service good. People that work here have been here a couple of years so there is some consistency in service and prep.

The BBQ was ok, there are better places nearby with friendlier atmosphere. If you are buying from their menu(Family meals) you should have the choice of dining in or out, especially when the place is always empty. If you are going to tell customers it’s company policy, you should at least have manners and respect when addressing customers. The customer may not always be right according to corporate policy, but they are always the customer and they have choices.

Sad to report that they have fallen off their game. I ordered a sliced brisket plate and the meat was so dry it looked like chopped beef. It literally disintegrated when you put a knife and fork to it. I thought maybe the dude cutting the brisket misunderstood me when I asked for moist brisket.(They offer lean and moist). When I brought it to their attention I was told that that was all the brisket they had ready. Then why offer moist or lean? Just say«you are getting a plate of crumbs. Deal with it». Too bad Cork Screw BBQ sells out of everything by 1 pm everyday or I would have thrown away the Dickey’s and headed to the front o the woods.

I agree with a lot of the reviews the sides suck. The meats aren’t that bad though.

This is NOT Texas BBQ, folks!!! I came here strictly on my sister’s advice — she says the Dickey’s in Dallas and Kansas City is incredible so, I thought, Why Not? I’ll tell you why not. This place is mediocre at best. I will be suprised if it stays open more than a year, two tops. The staff was VERY friendly, it seemed like a lil’ ol’ country place on the inside. I had a four veg plate as I don’t eat meat — my husband had a chicken, pork, and brisket and said he would never go back, it was nothing special. I had mac/cheese(watery, tasteless); potatoes au grautin(yummy); baked beans(are you kidding me? Campbells from a can!) and cole slaw(very good, fresh). And the roll really was good. It reminded me of the flavor of Popeye’s biscuits. Sinfully delicious. The BBQ sauce was very vinegary but it was tasty, a little thin. The iced tea wasn’t good either and it was supposed to have been Luzianne. They do have free«ice cream». I feel bad for the help here. They were SONICE but the food is not even average. If you insist on coming here, try to get out of the parking lot the back way using Flintridge so you can have a light to get out of there.

Big Disappointment :( I went in to get a couple orders to go. They have many sides available but just by looking at them they looked low quality and watery. Their baked potato mash had like a plastic sheen and was watery. The Mac and Cheese tasted blah, watery and just nasty! The beans horribly blah and watery etc. If you want these low quality kind of side dishes that they claim they make in house, well have at it. NOTFORME!!! Someone needs basic cooking classes here or is just making low quality sides? Meat Entrees had a smoky flavor and were ok except for the fly that kept flying around the uncovered brisket. Kill the sucker or cover up your brisket don’t just stand there after a patron warns you a few times — DA. Ratings: Brisket 3.5 Regular sausage 3 Spicy sausage(dried out) 2 Pulled pork 3.5 Mac and Cheese 1 Beans 1 Caesar salad ok except(croutons stale or very cheap quality) 2 Coleslaw 1.5 Barbecue sauce 3 Bread biscuit(hard, no flavor) 1 Customer Service 2.5 If you go here please ask for samples first so you’re not disappointed. IMO order the meats only if you need a BBQ Fix. I won’t be going back — I cook a heck of a lot better.

Fast food that is anything but! You start out deciding if you want meats {and how many 1−3} or a sandwich. You get 2 sides and a roll with the meat plate and you can choose no or up to 2 sides for the sandwich plate. Yes you can get more but you really don’t *need* to and, of course, you get charged extra. All the sides {with the exception of fries and the fried onion tanglers}, salads, and desserts are self serve so you can help yourself to as much as your plate can handle in one trip — NO seconds. Drinks and condiments are also self serve. I have only gotten the brisket — I freely admit it’s a weakness. But it’s fall apart tender and very flavourful. Their sauce only adds to the flavour rather than *being* the flavour. Sides are hot and very tasty. I’ve had the BBQ beans, the jalapeño beans, the macaroni and cheese {medium sized shells}, the baked potato casserole and the au gratin potatoes. They are all quite tasty! I have not had salad, baked potato or dessert though each time I am tempted to get a baked potato with chopped beef. The meal can be topped off with free ice cream either in a cup cone, a small cup or I am sure you can make any of the desserts {cobblers and assorted pies} a la mode. The décor is kinda homey/country — nothing spectacular — and the TV always seems ot have football on. I understand the drive/urge to have C&W music playing in a BBQ place but it is one of my least favourite types of music and is the one thing that makes this place unpleasant for me. If you like BBQ I recommend this location.
