Love! Another Toledo favorite, however it is an expensive treat. I always go for the famous garbage salad and pita chips. The dressing is fabulous and I recommend dipping the chips in the dressing. The salad is a large portion but will cost you more than $ 10. The high roller wrap is delicious! My only complaint is it’s only open weekdays. I’d love for it to be open on weekends so I can try their breakfast and other delicious lunch choices. Expect to wait, as I went in during lunch one day to pick up food and it was packed! The lines speak for the quality of the food. They also have a food truck that you can catch around town as well!

Everything here is good, especially their desserts, but it’s a must to try the Garbage Salad/Wrap. Their food is delicious and staff is professional and friendly. They close right after the lunch rush so it’s good to get there early, but the food is totally worth it.

Always a favorite when I am in Toledo. I’ve been coming here since my mom brought me in a stroller to Horns hardware and deli. It’s always good. The salads are excellent. The deserts are almost too good(I waddle rather than walk out).

Just ate Grumpys for breakfast and it was phenomenal. Had their egg white and sausage bagel, fantastic. Prices are excellent and the service is top notch. I will no doubt be a returning customer.

Great corned beef hash; real chunks of corned beef and veggies. The pies looked terrific — no room. WiFi with outlets galore & friendly staff. One more day in Toledo — too bad they are not open today!

Well, what a place. The garbage salad was awesome and is everything it is made out to be! Talk about fresh and homemade this place knows what those things are. I also had the red akin potato salad the was on spot! The service was awesome! The staff very friendly and attentive. This neighborhood gem is perfect and definitely a local hot spot for breakfast and lunch!

What a blessing to work a few blocks from this restaurant. The atmosphere is great, the people are awesome, and the food never ceases to impress. Salads, sandwiches, chili, and burgers, are all delicious. Stopped to pick up breakfast for the first time today from their awesome menu, and was equally as impressed. I recommend to everyone who visits Toledo.

Everything is so good here except the piece of Dani Herrera art. I don’t support artists who use their religious beliefs to oppose gay rights.

Had the«Hot Secret» — I think the secret is the lack of flavor. The so-called BBQ beef has no discernable flavor except the BBQ sauce that’s poured over it; otherwise it might as well be 3 oz. of SteakUm crap. By the way, the menu says«your choice of homemade BBQ sauce» which I was never given a choice! Opted to pay $ 2 extra for macaroni salad, which was not macaroni, but sea-shell pasta. Big difference! Also, flavorless yet had plenty of fresh veggies chopped into it… so weird. Won’t be back. Good reviews must be from regulars or fast food addicts that appreciate a change, even if it’s a mediocre.

Atmosphere is good. It’s deli/cafeteria loud. That describes the food also. It lacks flavor and I’ve had better food at a potluck then here. I had the pinwheel with a supposed sauce but it was jelly. The wrap they used was dried out. The carrot salad was mostly red onion. I would not come back nor do I think it’s worth it. I see good reviews so maybe it was what I ordered. My husband ordered the hot secret. The meat was so dry and bland. It really is comparable to a hospital cafeteria of bland and dry meats/good

Wow, Wow, Wow! I rarely go downtown for lunch places, so a shop that closes at 2 p.m. is not somewhere I would typically stop for lunch. I did however stop in there last week as a coworker and I had to be in the area in the morning. We both had sandwiches, chips and a pickle. The food was great, it came out quickly and we were treated amazingly by our waitress despite it being standing room only in the place. She still checked in on us several times. She suggested we try the jalapeño mayo instead of the traditional. It was a FANTASTIC addition to the flavors. My only complaint, we both had water, and it was a bit warm, despite being full of ice. I’m not sure what it is, other than it likely came from a tap and wasn’t refrigerated or out of a chilled machine. Not a huge deal, but just enough to not call it a perfect 5 star spot. Not enough to stop me from ever coming back.

Pros: Atmosphere, Service, and Food(Babalu — their version of the Cuban). Speedy and delicious! Boyfriend had the Monte Cristo which had the most delicious sauces that exist on this dirt ball. Cons: if you can call them cons… chips as a side were average, cookie was pricy for what it was and parking was a bit confusing until you could read the sign on the door. You can park in the lot as long as there isn’t a mud hens game going on. But, I will be back over and over again. I can’t wait to try their salads which were eye catching and huge.

Four is high for my experience but, the service, food and décor /arrangement are all very good. I had the salmon burger — the wheat bun and burger were dry. Cucumber was in large chunks underneath, kept falling out. 4 pieces of spinach(I counted) made up the greens. I also had the carrot cabbage slaw — very good thigh the raisins looked like they had been soaking in that poppyseed dressing for far too long. One compatriot had the pork belly BLT, added an avocado & fried egg — out of this world. Everyone else in our party was very happy. Had cookies to complete, they’re kinda pricy at $ 1.50 but really, they’re worth it.

Food: Wow — pleasant surprise! Unlike a lot of Toledo restaurants, Grumpy’s does not try to masquerade as «Fine Dining™». I ordered the reuben, and it was simple, unpretentious, and delicious! We sampled the chocolate cheesecake as well. Not a single part of me regrets exceeding my diet calories after this meal. Atmosphere: Urban, exposed brick, close quartered seating. Like the food, honest, unpretentious. Service: The only reason I did not give 5 stars. Waitress was nice enough, but she was not very attentive. Coffee was only refilled once.

I’ve heard the breakfast is amazing. I missed breakfast by 10 min. I ordered the taco salad and it was a whole lot of lettuce and not a lot of beef or veggies. Everyone else I was with enjoyed their meal but I did not.

Extremely disappointed. Expectations were high based on reviews. Ordered BBQ beef sandwich with potato salad. Beef was dry, chewy, and seemed like it was heated in a microwave. Potato salad had no flavor. Waitress never came back to ask how food was. Flagged down waitress to get bill and was told she likes the food there. Person at counter looked away and ignored us when we expressed our dissatisfaction.

Grumpy’s is ideally located for breakfast before an afternoon Mud Hens game. I was in town with a friend and we stopped here for breakfast. The menu has a few offbeat items as well as your standards. I went with the Shorty(breakfast sandwich) and my friend had the French Toast with ham. My sandwich was good but I was jealous of that French Toast. Service was friendly and prompt. I meant to go back for those awesome looking cookies but didn’t make it after the game. I plan to eventually make it back to Toledo as well as Grumpy’s. But next time for lunch.

Ok, this review has been 3 years in the making. I’ve been coming to Grumpy’s for a long time. I live very close, but even if I didn’t…I’d drive 2 hours for this food. Grumpy’s is the quintessential lunch spot in Toledo and has been for years. Only open Monday thru Friday, you’ve gotta come on your lunch break to get some. And it will still always, always be loaded. And youll soon find out why. When I say that I’ve had nearly everything on Grumpy’s menu, I’m not kidding. You’ll never eat a juicier burger… ever. The Hye Roller is another go-to, and the sauce they serve with it… crack. Another personal way I judge a restaurant’s worth, is by their reuben sandwich. Grumpys… ladies and gents, does not disappoint. Now let me talk about the one thing that I have ordered EVERYSINGLETIME(20+) I’ve gone there. The Toledo famous, garbage salad. Its absolutely incredible. A fantastic blend of greens, cheese, candied bacon, mushrooms, among other things. All tied together with the best salad dressing you’ll ever have, their homemade poppy seed dressing. Let me be frank, I’ve dipped a sandwich into this stuff before, and I’d put it on cereal if I could. Last but not least, Grumpy’s bakes an assortment of fresh cookies, pies, and cakes every day, surprise surprise, they’re all amazing. Look, if you don’t want to take my word for it, go there. Your life will be immeasurably better.

Always wanted to try Grumpy’s but never found a time to go until now. Tried the garbage salad, great food. Hours are a little inconvenient but it’s worth finding a time to try it out. Friendly staff, quick lunch.

I’ve been to Grumpy’s 3 – 4 times now for lunch and I’ve had satisfying experiences each time. The food is great, and service is prompt. The pork belly sandwich and garbage salad are the bomb! The staff are friendly and quick — exactly what you want for a lunchtime stop.
