Enjoyed Frogtown Foodie Fun Friday with a Fantastic Firecracker roll! Dang… can’t utter another F word until Monday after that one!!! Vegetable Miso is also pretty satisfying((really great mushrooms, YUM!!)). The boss had the Playboy roll which was decent but when placed next to the one mentioned previously(all out of F words, remember??), it was awarded third place. Salad had a ginger dressing that carried a nice spicy little zing I’ve not experienced before. Service was super quick and neighborly(really needed a couple f words there… located some synonyms though). Parking garage right across the street, $ 2 for lunch. Reserved parking until around the third level… just a heads up. Business casual atmosphere but I pulled it off with jeans and a button up. Listen to Jim on the hours… not the usual downtown itinerary. We will be returning SOON!!!

Very good atmosphere, sushi is delicious, definitely get fried ice cream for dessert. They have accommodations for large parties of people. Service is kind of slow but the food is definitely worth the wait

The service is good, our waitress is beautiful and sweet, the price is cheaper than other places. However, the food is disappointing. The salad, Udon, Sashimi… Just nothing tastes good. The fish is not fresh. What’s the point to come back if the food is not attractive? I guess it’s my first time and last time here.

Great sushi option in Toledo. The fish is fresh and the prices are reasonable. My complaint with this place was I called in advance to make a reservation for my party of 4 and when we arrived they said our table wouldn’t be ready for a while. We had to sit at the bar on the corner(so it wasn’t so bad). They made up for it by bringing us some edamame and salads on the house. The sushi came out on a «bridge» which was cool. We also ordered the roll on fire which was a unique twist. I will definitely go back to this centrally-located spot. I would also consider pick-up since the service was on the slower side.

The Sushi is ok. It’s not amazing. Go for crazy rolls and apps. A little pricy for the quality of the rolls. Sat at the sushi bar once and the sushi chef wasn’t in a great mood. Co workers go in for lunch probably twice a month, so I’ve been many times over the last two years. Usually get the hot stone bowl now and not bother with the sushi any more.

Toledo, obviously, is not a haven for sushi. Kyoto Ka, however, is pretty good. Service is solid and the staff, specifically the sushi chefs, are pretty friendly. I’ve been to a few places in the Toledo area for sushi and I’d say that Kyoto Ka is probably the best of the bunch. It’s a bit pricey, buy you’re getting pretty decent quality for the price you’re paying. I go back because I enjoy it, will continue to do so while I’m still in the Toledo area.

The service was terrible. Didn’t get an appetizer until we asked twice and were almost done with our meal. She charged us for items we didn’t order and the sushi was very small and all four rolls we ordered tasted the same, like NOTHING! Definitely not worth the money at all, will not be going back!

Been here with family on multiple occasions. Never had a bad meal. Staff is friendly. I highly recommend it. Sushi is great. Have also tried edamame and calimari appetizers, bibimbap, and chicken katsu which are excellent.

When people told me there was good sushi in Toledo I was a little apprehensive. After going to Kyoto Ka, I know they weren’t pulling my leg! Everything we got was delicious — the Kyota Ka app(tuna stuffed jalapenos), seaweed salad, and rolls were so fresh and not overdone with sauce or tempura batter. I will definitely be a regular here!

We do not live in Toledo, but we had heard about this place and since we had to make a trip to West Toledo, we decided to try it. We both had the luncheon Bento Boxes although we chose two different beef selections. We were so pleased with everything from the Miso soup served hot and quickly to the large selection of items in the box and generous portions of each. The server was friendly and we didn’t have to ask for refills on tea either. We love Sushi so I am sure the next time we are in the area we will have another meal and take home a selection of Sushi too. We’ll definitely be back and will recommend it to others in our area of Northwest Ohio.

Service was excellent! They have quite a variety of delicious rolls. I had the spicy tangerine which was a blend of spicy crab and tangerines making a nice b balance of sweet and spicy.

Kyoto Ka is a very nice Toledo spot for sushi. As i was sitting down, one of the sushi rollers greeted me with a huge smile and welcomed me to the restaurant. I was very satisfied with the politeness of the staff and the good mode they put me in. I sat at the sushi bar and watched the sushi rollers get to work. It was very entertaining and fun. I stayed on the sushi theme as i ordered the Double Dragon and Volcano rolls, respectively. Both were delicious and filling. Excellent food, happy staff and pleasant sushi bar. The restaurant is not very big and somewhat packed, but nevertheless a great spot for food.

This is my favorite place in toledo to get sushi. I recommend the New York roll, fire cracker, and the Rock & roll(my favorite). The sushi is great every time I’ve been here.

We read a lot about this place in Toledo City Paper… so here we are. Sushi…In this order… 1) Hot Lover Appetizer Roll 2) New York 3) Black Dragon 4) Calamari Tempura 5) Vegas Roll 6) Eel Crunch Along with Eel, Tempura, and Teriyaki sauces. It was the best Sushi we have had to date in the Toledo Market. We will soon compare to what people say is the best Sushi in the Ann Arbor Market. Service was great, bathrooms were clean, parking and acoustics were good. Quiet sound and no roar even though there was 2 dozen people in the establishment all conversing. They certainly earn their reputation. I no longer give out 5 stars unless everything is flawless. e.g. Parking, environmental comfort, bathrooms, etc. 5 it is. *****

Let me preface this review by saying that I do not eat sushi and I do not care for sushi, but my boyfriend does. This place gets great reviews because of his comments on the sushi and my love for the waiter at Kyoto Ka. He is really super nice and funny and makes the trip worth it. Everyone there is super friendly though and they always say hello and thank you for coming in. The sushi is really flavorful and fresh, I love their miso soup and I have had a number of non-sushi entrees including the chicken udon, the tofu and some other beef dishes and all were really solid.

Leo and red spider roll, both were excellent! The calamari was also very good. The staff was extremely friendly. We simply had a wonderful experience here!

I was on the fence about giving this place one or two stars. I went with two because, although the portions were very small, the sushi itself was tasty and although we had a poor server, most of the staff was hard working. Also, the décor is very nice. The main problem I had was, from the moment I arrived with my husband and son, it was as if we were a bother. After a chilly greeting we got the only available table in the restaurant which was by the kitchen. We don’t mind that because we were happy to be seated. From there, it went down hill. We seemed to have a very inexperienced male server who couldn’t really be bothered to give us a moment of his time. The miso soup was awful. It sat in front of the empty chair side of the table where it was ignored for 40 minutes until the bus boy grabbed it on his way to the kitchen. There was no chance to tell someone it tasted bad. We were in the most conspicuous table by the kitchen. It was right on the main traffic aisle for servers so it should have been easy to wait on us, yet when we all needed refills(tiny glasses by the way) and our server would just walk by us without even looking at us. Eventually the busboy came and brought my son a refill without a word and once again as if he was in a relay race, even though all of our glasses were empty. When I finally got our servers attention I told him we had been waiting an hour, he just nervous laughed. I did tell him about the soup I had and he agreed to take it off the bill. After we waited an hour and 5 minutes, I heard a very good waitress tell the couple next to us that the restaurant was aware of their wait and would be getting them complimentary edamame. That table was sat 10 minutes AFTER us. I was livid. As that waitress was passing us I said«We were here ten minutes before them but we’ll just naw on our arms.» Now I admit that was directed at the wrong person, she was clearly a hard worker, but I am a diabetic so I was«hangry» at that point and it was beyond frustrating to be so hungry and have to listen to the table after us get the concern and attention we were denied. She came back to tell us we were getting edamame too.(Don’t ask me where our server was, we barely saw him on the floor.) And in actuality, I didn’t want the edamame, I wanted someone to CARE that we had waited over an hour for 4 simple orders of sushi(3 crunchy cali rolls and a salmon roll.) Shortly after that we were served our sushi without so much as one word of apology even though we arrived around 7:10 and were served at 8:30. The owner, who had passed us a million times as though we were invisible, never came over the the table once. We are not unreasonable, if they had said they got slammed all at once and at least acknowledged us, I would have been unhappy about the wait but at least I would have felt they cared about their customers and were doing all they could. While the food was ok, the portions were absolutely ridiculously chintzy compared to other sushi places I have been to, and I have been to Sushi joints in NY, Los Angeles, London and Vancouver, so I have a lot to compare it too. Kroger grocery has better Sushi. I wasn’t expecting the sushi to be as fresh as near the ocean, but I certainly didn’t expect it to be so pathetically small and sliced nearly as thin as a pringle. How I dislike cheapos. You could see the seaweed through the thin layer of rice. Our bill came to 38 dollars, I gave the server $ 50.(I can’t NOT tip) and we left hungry. Worse, we left feeling undervalued for our hard earned money. I will never go back.

Came here with the rents for their first time trying sushi, and it was prefect considering the large menu and variety of things to try here! I enjoyed the mushroom roll & the sweet potato roll along with the miso soup from my mom’s entrée(the terayaki salmon which she raved about). Dad loved the Leo roll.

I really don’t understand the negative reviews other than maybe it being busy on a weekend? I love Sushi. I travel A LOT for business and eat Sushi almost everywhere I go because my wife doesn’t like it so I eat it when I am traveling and go to places she likes when I am with here. I went on a Tuesday night, there were 4 parties at tables and the Sushi Bar was empty. I was buy myself and sat down in front of the two Sushi specialist behind the bar. I like sitting at the Sushi Bar and watching them make my stuff. I ordered a Tuna Roll and a mixture of Tuna, Snapper and Sea Bass Sushi pieces. All of it was good. I was actually a little taken aback by the amount of fish used on each piece of Sushi. It draped onto the plate on both ends of the rice ball and was cut a little thicker than I have ever had at a Sushi Restaurant. Between the length and thickness of the slice of fish I would guess each one was 2x the amount of fish on most pieces of sushi I have eaten. Getting a lot would not matter if it wasn’t good… and it was. I can’t speak to any of the Japanese or Chinese entrees as all I had was Sushi, but I can say that I was satisfied and would not hesitate to go back for Sushi.
