3 months ago, came for a mattress for my sister to get her through the remainder of her college years. Nothing expensive, but something comfy. The guy assisting us guaranteed the best price and that we shouldn’t waste our time looking at other stores because their quality and«deal» couldn’t possible be beaten. He shows us the typical«college style mattresses» and to our surprise, they were comfy! We did not want to spend more than $ 400 total. When I say bottom line $ 400, I mean, mattress, box spring, frame, delivery cost total needs to be $ 400 or less. He showed us a few mattresses that were around $ 350, not including the box spring or frame so when we added the total costs it was really around $ 550! Eventually we got our point across, found a mattress we liked and we were given a total cost of $ 450. We were told once again, this price could not be beaten. We wanted to check out other places, we are not a family of impulse buyers. Again, «You are wasting your time, how about I give it to you for $ 420, right now, that way you don’t have to head out in the rain and have the hassle of looking around.» Don’t schmooze me guy. I don’t like to be schmoozed. So, we looked elsewhere. Not necessary to comment where we ended up buying her mattress but I’ll tell you now, it was cheaper and same brand name. So, fast forward three months. My turn to find a bed. I waltz into Metro and the same guy gives me the same spiel about how I am not going to find a better price on this quality mattress. I said I wanted to keep looking and he again said, «You are wasting your time, how about I give it to you for $ 700 right now, that way you don’t have to have the hassle of looking around.» So what did I do? I went elsewhere. I took a break from mattress shopping for about three weeks and returned to this location. I tested out a bed that I fell in love with. It was so comfortable, I knew it was the bed for me. The salesman(a different one this time) brought over a ridiculously comfortable pillow and said I had to try out the bed with the pillow. Why give me the $ 100 tempurpedic pillow that I can’t afford? It’s just going to alter the way I feel about the mattress. He explained to me that people in America focus too much on the mattress when they should be focusing on their head and neck. Yes, he may be right and probably is, however unless you are throwing in that delicious pillow with my mattress, keep it away, far far away. Here I am on this mattress, loving the way it feels. Originally priced at $ 1,200 but on sale for $ 699. Wonderful. This time I was in a bit more of a rush than the last time I entered, so I was planning on walking out of the store with a purchase made. The salesmen were very accommodating at this point and gave us a GREAT deal on the mattress, box spring and frame. I was thrilled even though they did give me once again, their typical, «Anywhere else you go, you’ll be paying more and if it’s not more, it’s crap» spiel. At this point I was so used to it though, that it was almost amusing. Almost. The gentleman assisting us assured, reassured and then reassured us again that we would be receiving a sturdy frame with wheels and set us up for delivery the next day. Wonderful. Well, so we thought. He told me I would receive a call by 7 pm that night to set up a delivery time. Midnight rolls around, no phone call. Morning comes around, I get a phone call from a guy who says he’ll be at my place anywhere from 10 – 3. Whoa, I have things to do you know? That’s a pretty large time frame. I expressed my concern to the guy on the phone and he was VERY nice and said he would do his very best to get to me between 12 – 1. GREAT. They came around 1:50. Hey, things go wrong, there’s traffic, beds are heavier than expected, 1:50 was no problem.(Even though they said they would give me a 20 minute warning and they called when they were on the next block over.) Again, not a huge deal. The huge deal however, occurred when they started setting up this supposedly«sturdy bed frame with wheels» and it was wheel-LESS. Gimme a break. This was not the correct frame and we went over again and again and again how we NEEDED this particular frame and the salesman assured and reassured us we would be getting that. We were told by the delivery guys that we had to go back to the store to get a new one. They left everything in plastic and left. WE had to drive the half hour back to get the right one. The guys were apologetic, gave us the right one but this was a hassle. Now we had to go back and set it up ourselves. Upon setting up the bed, there was a rip in the top of the box spring. So upsetting and really annoyed. Called, all they said was that it wouldn’t affect my warranty. He should have insisted a new box spring be delivered immediately. Things did not go smoothly here. Now, I LOVEMYBED. It’s like sleeping on a pile of marshmallows, but they should have thrown in the free pillow.
