Love their cold noodle on hot days. Also the spicy seafood noodle and seafood noodle spicy soup. Kimba was ok, but at least freshly made. Bottom line, the service is good and price is ok for big portion of food.

Chul Ga Bang is a very, cute shop that tinkers on the border of Torrance/Harbor City. It serves Chinese-based food with a heavy Korean influence. In regards to the menu, think of Korean comfort food. Combo sets arent a bad way to go. I usually get manjjah which comes with dumplings and black bean paste noodle. Price is cheap and good. Plenty of parking is available, though the lot can tend to get crowded on weekends. The plaza it’s located on offers many recreational activities(billiards, karaōke, pc bang) so it is not a bad location to eat and chill afterwards.

This place was good. We ordered: JJAJANGMYUN: This was one of the better ones I had in the Torrance area. JJAMPONG/SWEET &SOURPORKCOMBO: This was spot one. The soup was flavorful. unlike most place. There was a lot of noodles. which I liked. The sweet & sour pork was good. so crispy. it was so good eating it with the kimchi! DONKATSU: the pork itself was really good. Wasn’t a fan of the sauce it came with and this coleslaw thing with corn in it. Would only order this if it was TO-GO bc I would eat it with the sauce I have at home. RABOKKI: The flavor of this was good, but a little too soupy. I will definitely be back.

Come to this place time to time. There are a lot of food to choose from. Its not Chinese, its more like Korean style Chinese food. Clean restaurant and cheap as well. Noodles or Fried Rice are dishes that I order the most and I think greatly of. The food are pretty cheap that you will pay between 10 to 15 dollars per person. Can go up to 15 or 20 if you decide to order large main dishes that can be shared with everyone. Great for kids too~! It will meet kids’ taste-butts.

The food is great! I tried just kimbap, jjajang rice, and cheese ddeokbokki and it was all great. Our server was very polite. Unfortunately they mixed up one of my orders but they quickly apologized and fixed my order. Super popular. A lot of people came in even though I went during some later hours. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants great Korean food.

Cute, little place to get authentic Korean food! I typically go here with my friend Sarah since she’s Korean and she typically knows what to order LOL shoutout to Sarah if you are checking into this place on Unilocal and reading this now! :3 It’s interesting that’s this is actually two restaurants but they share the same kitchen and menu haha. When we arrived here for lunch on a Sunday, it wasn’t that busy. We were seated right away. We got the Topoki(spicy rice cake) and the kimchi fried rice omelette. It also came with the usual side of kimchi and radish/onion. What I like about this place is that the food here is not too heavy/oily like other Korean places so I didn’t feel overwhelmed or bloat afterwards. I felt full but just the right amount. The Topoki was very delicious and the kimchi fried rice had nice flavor. Our meal came out to be around $ 25 including tax & tip, which was not that bad. Thanks for showing me this place again, Sarah! :)

This place is somewhat good, but I would not recommend coming here between 3−5pm. The main chef is on break, so they don’t have any Korean food — they only have the Korean/Chinese fusion food. I asked for so many different plates, and they didn’t have anything I wanted.

I don’t like their service, I LOVE it. They really care about their customers to the point where you feel like you’re being pampered by your grandma. Love their kimchi fried rice and I’ll never get sick of eating it everyday.

Their kimchi fried rice is delicious! They’re very generous with their portions. It comes with a fried egg on top and two sides: shredded salad and cole slaw with corn. This is my usual dish. Never disappoints. They also don’t mind splitting the check. Some places are less accommodating, but they split ours five ways. Great service. You don’t have to wait long for food.

Came here to satisfy a boonsik(korean fast food?) Craving. The food was definitely better than expected, but the one factor that made me actually write a review is the superb customer service. The girl waitress is really nice too, but the young man who worked when I visited(Saturday late afternoon) was the nicest server I have ever seen. So smiley, explaining everything on the menu, greeting everyone personally… if I owned a restaurant, he is the guy I would hire. It is a wonder what a good server can do for your eating out experience! The food is average, service is the best!

I’ve been to this place 3 times in the last month for lunch. A friend recommended it for the Tang Soo Yook sweet and sour pork and the JiaJiangMen noodles with black bean(?) sauce. It totally met and exceeded my expectations. This past Friday I got the Tang Soo Yook and JiaJiangMen combo. It is a lot of food… you won’t leave this place hungry. When you order this you also get pickled daikon, sweet raw onions and their very delicious and refreshing Kimchi. My mouth is watering as I’m writing this review. I’ll have to try some other dishes the next time I go.

The ropoki was yummy! But I was disappointed by the ja jien mien. It’s more on the bland side. My mom ordered the omelet rice and I felt like the rice on the inside was drenched in ketchup~ and she said she wished the rice was«korean rice» whatever that means(lol).

Casual Korean Chinese food dining experience. They have combo deals where you can get two different things on the menu in small portion. I tried their oyster clam noodle soup, and it was very satisfying, the broth was a little bit spicy from the hot pepper, but it wasn’t too powering, I do eat alot of spicy food, so this spice level was nothing to me, but for people who are not used to spicy food, might be a bit too spicy. My butt was sweating alot from eating the hot soup that when I got up from my seat, the chair was drenching in my sweat… I digress, the service was good, food came out fast. portion was very generous, two of my friends didn’t get to finish their noodles. the reason it didn’t reach four or five star is due to food tasting average, it is like typical food you can find at other restaurants, didn’t have anything stood out to us. I think I’m a food critic, so this one got an average in my opinion, but if I pass this place again and im hungry, I would come back again.

My to go place for Korean-Chinese food. There are a few places in the South Bay but this place re-opened with more space a little while ago and are still serving up pretty good food. Plenty of seating. Pricing is fair. Service is good.

Just got our order, super disappointed. Firstly, they can’t make the black bean noodles without pork. That sucks– but why include the sauce when it has pork in it along with my order of fried rice?! I DON’T EATPORK. When you include something with pork in it with my order, I almost feel as if you aren’t respecting the fact that I DON’T EATPORK. Lots of people don’t eat pork! It’s not hard to understand. Secondly, I counted 5 small pieces of octopus in my spicy seafood soup. ANDNOTHINGELSE. Why not just call it octopus soup if there isn’t anything else included with it? Saying it’s «seafood» soup implies that it has more than just 1 variety of seafood in it, when clearly there is not. It’s very misleading, so just STOPIT. THEONLYTHING they got right was the garlic shrimp. NOTHING else. And how is Udon Chinese food?! It’s not. It never was. Why even offer it on the menu? My boyfriend, who was born and raised in Korea, was really disappointed because he was craving these dishes, but they just weren’t right and the pork thing was really insulting. We will not be returning here, ever.

I would give this place a five star if they gave more for what the price is… I was a bit disappointed when my plate of tangsooyuk came out. A dish of $ 12 that was probably worth $ 8… But it tasted really good! For taste is 5 stars but overall… A 4 star:)

This place deserves my five stars no doubt. I’ve been coming here over the years and the food and service has gotten way better than seven years ago when I’d visit with my family. The idea to combine jjajangmyun and jjamppong became a revolutionary menu item when it was first introduced in Korea and Chul Ga Bang had adopted the trend as well when it added it to their menu several years ago. Not only is the food plentiful when you order the combinations, you get a variety so you won’t have to spend so much money trying various dishes at full value. They’ve also expanded the restaurant space in the recent years and have been serving ddukbbokki and kimbap as well. The kimbap is kind of overpriced, but each kimbap is way bigger than the ones you get at School Food in Ktown. Their food I have to admit is what I’ve grown to adopt as Korean-Chinese food. The jjajangmyun is always super flavorful and doesn’t taste like a spoonful of msg. I also like that their jjamppong noodles are perfectly cooked and not too soft, which I’ve seen some other korean-chinese places do. Their jjamppong isn’t too spicy either so you could savor the seafood without being overwhelmed by the spicy flavor of the soup. Their tang soo yook is seriously the BEST i’ve tried. I like that they don’t drench them in the sauce. And the batter they use for their tang soo yook is pretty thin but I like that better because then when you do have sauce on it doesn’t taste like stale bread. Last but not the least is the impeccable service. The servers, even though most of them are middle-aged Korean women, speak moderate english and they’re not your typical Ktown just-take-order-give-food kind of servers. They ask if you need extra napkins, they refill your water cups, and apologetic when they make mistakes or delay orders. I remember one time they were so nice and kind that my boyfriend and I joked about how we didn’t want to give them so much tip that they deserved. Expect to spend about 10 dollars per person for just the food here including tax, but their service is so friendly and food that you’ll want to give them a lot of tip, just fyi!

What puts this over the top is that you can get jajangmyun(black bean noodles) delivered, true Korean experience =). For the times you just crave these dishes while at home and don’t want to get out of the house. Also got the tangsooyook(sweet and sour beef), tasty and crispy batter. Keep the sauce off to the side to keep the sauce from getting the dish soggy.

Decided to try out the Chinese-Korean fusion cuisine at Chul Ga Bang as I seem to have taken a fancy to Korean food lately. Chul Ga Bang is located almost next door to Ko Ryo Jung which did not inspire too much confidence as you can pretty much consider Ko Ryo Jung as the benchmark for bad service but decided to bite the bullet and give it a try over the weekend. At the peak lunch hour the restaurant was about 50% full. When I walked in I was quickly greeted and asked to take any vacant seat that took my fancy. I went through their menu but I pretty much knew what I wanted to have which was the half black bean noodles and half spicy seafood noodles combo($ 8.95). Food was out in under 10 minutes and they start you off on two banchan dishes which surprisingly did not include kimchee which is the staple in Korean restaurants. Taste wise it was excellent. The spicy seafood noodle were great spicy yet not overly spicy. The limited seafood in it was also extremely fresh. The black bean noodle were a little on the salty side and had a nice soy taste kicker. The noodle itself were a little clumpy so you have to swirl them around a it to get them uncluttered and properly mixed in with the sauce to bring out the complete flavor. Portion size is also huge and I was stuffed as I chomped my way through both the sides of the dish. Service wise I am happy to report that the bad service standards from its neighbor have not rubbed off on Chul Ga Bang and I found the service to be impeccable. Very polite and attentive servers who have mastered the fine art of making someone feel comfortable. Lastly could pay by card without any minimum restrictions all bases covered flawlessly. I Will return to sample some more stuff off their menu.
