Ok this update has been a long time coming. I used to live in Towson and frequented San Sushi Too /Thai One On. Then I moved decently far away, for about 4 years. I recently moved back and have realized how badly I have missed the place. Bruce is the best sushi chef this side of Japan, and is such an asset to the place it is unbelievable. I go there to talk with him, if nothing else. Oh, except the amazing food. He is the kind of chef that remembers you, remembers your favorite orders, and is always willing to suggest a new item or custom-craft you something delicious based on what you like. And every now and again, he will throw you a «sample,» which is usually something he considers to be his favorite. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes sushi and enjoys having a great experience in a wonderful, family– owned and run business.

I have been going to Thai One On for years. My favorite foods are: Penang Kai, Drunken Noodles and their whole fish is to die for. It is by far my favorite Thai restaurant. If you are allergic to wheat they have wheat free soy sauce. Just ask for it. Service is always great and their lemon grass soup is to die for too.

Dope spot for some fresh(not pre-frozen!) flavorful sushi! Located off Towson’s main strip close to Towson Mall. Staff is friendly and helpful! Wide variety of menu options. Go to Appetizers: –Hot Bowl: 10/10, Seafood medley in a sweet & spicy sauce. Scallops, tuna, octopus etc so good! –Seaweed salad –Tako Su: 10/10, Octopus served with rice vinegar you can taste how fresh the octopus is. can’t beat it! Go to Main Course: Whole fried fish 10/10, Honestly one of the best fried fish I’ve ever had! Beautiful presentation(comes in small, medium, large) the small is definitely way big enough for two people. My husband and I couldn’t even finish the small and was only $ 30! MUST get the two different sauces that come with it(see picture) the curry sauce & the fish sauce. They are to die for! Served with rice. Go to Dessert: Mango with Sticky Rice: 10/10, Mango comes out perfectly sliced and ripe. Sticky rice is hot and just a touch of sweetness. Perfect light and refreshing way to end your meal :)

One of our favorite places in the area. The sushi is usually good and the Thai food is always on point. Love the pad thai and drunken noodles!

I’m giving it 3 but I’m sure it could be a 4. Here’s the low down. My sushi background… Let me just say sushi is my death row meal. I’m from California and I eat very good sushi. I enjoy fresh and clean… San Sushi Too was just eh. Service was awesome! The waitress was super nice and very quick and the rest of the staff seemed like they genuinely cared. The sushi chef seemed extremely friendly! I overheard him talking to customers at the bar and he seemed like a great guy! Appetizer: I had Gyoza which was actually my favorite part of my meal. Crunchy and pretty good. Not going to say amazing but very good. –Also had the Beef Sukiyaki. Again, it was good… nothing memorable, honestly. It was a big bowl though! Didn’t finish it. –Dynamite roll. The fish in the middle was either tuna or salmon, I forget but it wasn’t very good. I couldn’t finish those either… Overall, nothing had great strong flavor. I WISH I could try the whole menu because I’m sure they have better rolls. My meal=disappointing, but I have a feeling they have better.

Came here on a Saturday night for a fun girls night and the food was good but took way too long. We all ordered sushi and it took over 90 minutes to come. But here is the deal! I will come back for the bartender service! Matty is the best bartender! His drinks were great and they couldn’t taste better! So just for him we all will be back! Thank Matty!

Hands down the best sushi you will find anywhere. The rolls and sauces are original, and the quality is the best.

The terp maki is the sushi roll dreams are made of. This isn’t on the menu. It is a shrimp tempura roll with shrimp and avocado in the inside. The roll is topped with fresh lump crabmeat that is mixed with spicy mayo and tiny roe. Sweat teriyaki is drizzled over the top. Yes, this roll is a little on the sweet side but no other roll comes close. Others either use imitation crabmeat or even if I get spicy mayo and teriyaki sauce on the side, it just isn’t the same. I’m sure it has to do with the lump crabmeat on top. This is a hidden gem and I’m not stingy to share this amazing secret roll!

Sushi was okay. The rice seemed to be overcooked and they are on the expensive side. To me the restaurant needs a few updates, seems very dark and gloomy. Their thai tea is great. But every time I would order takeout, they never had plastic utensils. weird

My husband was craving Thai(which I’m not a fan of) and I was craving sushi last night, so we decided to check out San Sushi and see what the food and experience would be like on Thanksgiving Eve. Our waiter was really good in helping my husband pick a Thai dish and helping me to narrow down a sushi dish based upon my likes/taste buds. He also double checked with me prior to me consuming my dish as it had roe(fish eggs) on top of the sushi after noticing that I was pregnant. The Thai Ice Tea while sweeter than most was a delicious addition to complement our meal. Overall, the service was great and the food was pretty good. My husband had a duck Thai dish and I had a sushi dish(I believe it was called the Terp Maki roll) but it had shrimp tempura, avocado topped with crabmeat, roe and a sweet teriyaki sauce over the top. It was really good but I wish the dish came out warmer as it was pretty cold and I’m used to my sushi being warm at best. i

I am not one to give 5 stars unless put into a food induced coma. San sushi comes very close; however, the amount of sushi I would have to consume in order to reach such extremes would be absurd. With that being said, I consider myself a sushi(prefer nigiri) snob and this place does not disappoint. Their tuna and salmon nigiri is some of the best I have had in the States. I have eaten at many sushi restaurants, but have never experienced melt-in-your-mouth sushi quite like the spreads I have had at San sushi. One could definitely be satisfied with the numerous speciality rolls, but to truly taste the quality one must try a slab of tuna strewn on top of a dollop of rice. Enough about the sushi… The chefs are very conversational and the waitstaff is always friendly. The staff might not be the most experienced, but it adds to the laid back atomism here. If you want to avoid the staff, go sit at the bar and talk to the chefs as they roll up some raw goodness. Overall, if you are looking for a chill environment with good food, then check this place out and strictly order from the sushi sheet. Get to know the chefs and they will certainly recommend some rolls that have the freshest ingredients. Highlight: Cajun salmon nigiri accompanied by a tall Sapporo with a chilled glass. Nuff said.

This food here was pretty mediocre, and the one fried roll we got was way over fried. In fact, of the three rolls we got I only liked one, and even then it was just ok. In addition, the service was also spotty. Worst of all, they were in a rush to get us out of there and kept trying to take our plate of rolls, even though we told them we weren’t finished. This happened at 9:15 on a Friday night! Certainly not late for a Friday night. It wasn’t like the place was crowded and they needed our seats, even though that still wouldn’t be an excuse to be treated so poorly. Overall, an unpleasant experience, probably the worst sushi place I have ever been to, and I have been to a lot.

The waiter is super nice and the sushi/rolls are also great. The price is very fair. I highly recommend key west roll with conch inside which is wonderful. However, the Thai ice tea has no tea flavor at all and tastes just like sugar milk so please don’t try that.

Always excellent, for 15 years(for me) and going. Love the sushi, Thai, bar and salads. Tuna tataki is my favorite. Salads with mix of ginger and sesame dressing. Chesapeake roll has jumbo lump.

I’ve been coming here for almost 2 years. What won me over was the Mackerel(Saba) sashimi. It was fresh, cold to the touch, and refreshing with a spritz of lemon that was served as a garnish. Just how i love it. As time passed quality has gone down. It’s getting dryer and warmer each time I come. Once it was filleted improperly and was in edible due to being full of tiny bones. Just recently it was served so warm I thought for sure I was going to get food poisoning(I didn’t) after I ate it, but I was starving and ate it anyhow. I will never order the Mackerel again and that was the only thing that had me select this place over the handful of other sushi restaurants. That depresses me so much. A grey goose and tonic is $ 10. I guess that’s normal for Towson, but holy heck. Service is a hit or miss. I’ve had horrible service, and I’ve had wonderful service. It seems to be better during busier, dinner hours. Lunch hours however, the staff are more interested in their phones and conversations, and the place is just empty.

Great food had the Dragon roll and HIRAN roll. Nice atmosphere. Beware when using the GPS will take you to the back which looks sketchy but don’t let it turn you away you can still get in from the back. Will definitely go again.

Service: Mediocre & nonchalant Food: It depends on the dish. I’ve tried different sushi rolls; some were good, others gross, and the rest okay. As some have noted, the sushi is sloppily put together and falls apart. It also isn’t the freshest. I’ve also had their entrees like Pad Thai and drunken Drunken Noodles. The latter, by far, is the best dish I’ve tried here. Overall: Don’t pay full price. Buy one of their online deals because there are better Thai & Sushi places nearby.

Staff is always very friendly and helpful. Menu has Thai and Japanese selections as well as great sushi. My wife is vegetarian and lives that they have several yummy options for her as well. Reasonably priced.

Absolutely terrible. My wife and I went for a large lunch today. There was no hostess so we just walked around for a while until somebody told us to find a seat. I waited ten minutes for anybody to show up with a menu before I got up and walked around and found a menu myself. Another ten minutes went by. I got up and found a server and told him we were ready to order. Up to this point he still had not even come to our table with water. We ordered sushi and a $ 6 chicken skewer appetizer. The chicken was overcooked and tasteless and there were only four gross chunks of chicken on the skewer, which we didn’t finish cuz it was so gross. The sushi was bad too unfortunately. Very lazily prepped, the rice was gummy and dry and the ends of the rolls were not filled, just grossly mashed up seaweed and rice. At first I was really frustrated with the experience, but about halfway through my wife and I started enjoying how hilariously bad everything about this restaurant was.

Well, I’ve finally eaten here. The first time I tried, I was tired of waiting for service. This time, I relaxed a little more with the increased attention, but service is woefully slow. Server was new but caring. I ordered Dragon Roll and Hamachi Sashimi. Both were tasty. Ambience feels very hip. Booth seating was nice. Still, something felt off. Maybe it didn’t feel clean enough or service wasn’t prompt enough. Dragon Roll was good, but not great. Sashimi was almost great, so that’s good! They combine Chinese, Thai & Japanese, as well as Sushi, on menu, so it’s quite a range. But I’ve only tasted the sushi/sashimi. UPDATE ~ Perhaps I’m a glutton for punishment as well as sushi. I really don’t enjoy writing bad reviews. But, I’ve tried dining here on a few occasions and left twice, ate once. Service is so slow, I leave. All fish is farmed, yikes! The outdoor tables are nice. The sushi menu seems very limited compared to others in area. The ambience is unique and the servers seemed distant and yet kind the third time, disoriented the first and second times. Additionally, I hear it’s possibly impossible to find a Japanese-owned Sushi place. Why am I determined to like this place? I hear they have interesting sushi specials, but there’s no menu, only a chalk board to read. So, you’ll be bumped into if you try to read the whole thing, as people walk by you. If you’re really into sushi, you’ll keep looking for the wild side of sushi, i.e., fresh caught not farmed, but is there such a place in Baltimore? Makes me reminisce of this place in Sausalito that had«the» freshest EVER! Enjoy the good stuff while you can, folks.
