Damn that’s good pizza. DeFazio’s… I can’t stay mad with you. We hit a rough patch. But wild horses couldn’t keep me away from those crusty bubbles and that intensely savory buffalo chicken pie.

Don’t miss out on this local gem! My fiancé and I went to DeFazio’s tonight for the first time. It’s cash only and BYOB. The menu has so many options and the prices are very reasonable. The wood fired pizza is a no brainer. Lots of tasty salads and pasta dishes. They make their own meatballs, sausage, pasta and sauce. The cannoli and cookies are great too. Order ahead or make a reservation for faster service. Delivery also is an option. The place is small, service is excellent and they only can make three pizzas at a time. They also have a store next door that can accommodate 8 – 22 guests for special parties, and they’re planning to open another location up the street. Make sure you check it out!

Best pizza around and they deliver, what could be better?! Ingredients are always fresh, and the handmade quality is unbeatable. They also make a pretty delicious cannoli. Bring cash if you dine in or pick up, credit cards accepted if you order online.

Pretty good pizza — I wouldn’t call it the absolutely perfect example of wood-fired pizza, but I’ve enjoyed the few times I’ve tried it. The cheese is really flavorful, and I think that’s the strongsuit of DeFazio’s. The dough is pretty decent. The crust, not incredible by any means. If anything, I’d like to see DeFazio’s cook their pizza for a few extra minutes — I think that’s to be expected of wood-fired, to see a little bit of charring on the crust. Overall, I’d definitely recommend it if you’re in the Troy area, though I don’t think it’s a godsend by any means, like other reviewers seem to say. …Also, there was something slimy on the doorknob.

If you do nothing else while you’re in the Capital District, go here. This place is stupid — their Fra Diavolo pizza is one of the better things I’ve eaten in my life. If you like spicy, this is the one — chopped hot peppers and hot sausage homemade next door. Words can’t describe the awesomeness. We also get a white pizza with arugula, olives, and prosciutto that is stupendous. Great vegetarian options, too, because their sauce and crust are outstanding. They make pizza the right way. Pastas are excellent, as well. There are only about 12 seats, so takeout is your best option. They’ll also treat you like a regular, which means no one will explain anything and there is no «service» per se at the tables, but they’re all incredibly nice when you engage them. Being in D.C., I’ve now upset myself realizing that I won’t be back up there for 4 months. :(

The BEST pizza in the area if not NY. Also have homemade pasta. Flour from Italy — likely non GMO.

Definitely the best pizza place in town. Their level of hospitality caught me off guard quite a bit. They are worthy of five stars all across the board. Bravo DeFazio’s! Bravo.

The pizza is amazing. Get a table and bring a bottle or several of your favorite adult beverages and your night is made. Multiple crusts to choose from. Amazingly fresh toppings. And damn… I grew up outside of Philly and I could swear to you by personality and food sense that this family were my neighbors. However Troy can definitely muscle up against not only the best pizzas but the best personalities. If you don’t like this place it might be because you’re just not a fun person. That’s okay — more pizza for me. If you get a chance to know Ray — or one of the other amazing personalities — let us share our favorite slices, toast a glass of amazing wine, and smile at the delicious foods of Defazio’s.

Growing up in the capital district, I thought I knew the best pizza locations. I had a variety of their food for the first time recently and can definitely say it’s the best pizza around. Makes any other pizzeria in the capital district, average.

Stop Just Stop… you people with the best pizza ever nonsense. DeFazio’s is great and I have been a fan for years. That said they make a thicker crust pizza that is all about the toppings. The Bottom Line: Cash only, full pie only, Italian delicatessen that serves up good pizza mainly for takeout. You can bring your own bottle of wine and eat there, but there are only a few tables.

Came here as we were hunting for pizza in Downtown Troy! Glad we stopped in! We got a large half white pizza with three types of cheeses… Awesome! I also loved the other half my husbands side which was with their Italian sausage, onions, and Green peppers(Red sauce) So So So Goooooood! It’s about $ 13 – 14 for a 12″ and for a 16″ it’s about $ 17 – 18! Go big or go home right. I would’ve loved to sit and eat there and enjoy the pizza while it was Hott! We went at 3pm on a Saturday it was not busy and took about 22 – 25 minutes and was hoping for a more crispier or thinner pizza but toppings made up for that! I can’t wait to come try the Buffalo chicken and then clam pizzas!

Pizza is outstanding, in the running for the best pizza in the capital district. The crust is light and fluffy on the inside and crunchy on my he outside. I got the fra diavalo pizza with smoked mozzarella, and it was outstanding.

DeFazios’s is where it’s at. We constantly order from here for working lunches. They have delicious specialty pizzas. I need to head to the actual home of DeFazio’s to enjoy an eat in experience. They also cater! They make amazing salads aside from their mouth watering pizza. The pizza has an excellent ratio. The crust is a bit thicker than NY style but you can tell how fresh the dough is because it is so light and airy. The pizza has the perfectly finished bottom which is a dark tan and the top has a beautiful lightly broiled appearance. It gives you the best of both worlds, cheese that has caramelized a bit on the top and a bottom that is not burnt or overly crunchy! Their pizza sauce is perfect, as an Italian it’s rare that I say that about many sauces other than my own — yes typical Italian. Fresh and not too sweet. Gosh I am not a fan of sweet pizza sauce. Toss me some red pepper flakes and DeFazios is pizza perfection. Maybe they will kick it up to a 5 once I try their food on site when it’s fresh out of the oven! Must Try: Four Cheese Pizza, Pesto Pizza

Best pizza I’ve had out in a while and very friendly staff! My friend and I came here on a Monday during the middle of the day. Unfortunately, it’s street parking, in not a very nice looking neighborhood, but we found a place to park with no problem. At first we thought the place was closed. There are two locations, it seems. The area we eventually found open was where they make they pizza and have takeout. They have a few tables to eat at in there. I wouldn’t say they have waiter service, but the workers were extremely nice and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. After we ordered, they set up our table with all the necessities like plates, silverware, etc. The place itself is a little run down and old fashioned. I ended up ordering a small Diablo with their garlic-herb crust for $ 13 plus $ 1 for the specialty crust. My friend ordered a small Chicken and Roasted Red Pepper for a bit more. It took a bit of time for them to be made and cooked, probably around 30 minutes, but it was worth the wait. The worker served them to us piping hot. So hot that I burned the roof of my mouth because I was so eager to taste it. It not only looked delicious, but it was delicious. I loved their sauce, it had so much flavor. It was the ingredient that made the pizza for me. The dough was a close second though. I’ve never had flavored crusts before. I’ve had it stuffed or sprinkled with some ingredient, but this was if they took pesto sauce and infused it with the dough. Very unique and original. The cheese was average and they could have added a bit more of the toppings(spicy sausage and hot peppers). I agree with another review that it is not nearly as good reheated, so enjoy it while you can! My friend’s was good. as well. Really packed with flavor from the crust, sauce and toppings. I didn’t appreciate how big the chunks of chicken were on hers, since it resulted in a mouthful of it, but the quality was still there. The only reason I am not giving this place 5 stars is because it is on the pricier side and there were flies everywhere when we were there. It grossed us out a little, but luckily they didn’t bother us while we were eating. Overall, while I enjoyed this place, it is a bit out of the way for me just to get pizza. I would still recommend it to anyone who is looking for a pretty decent pizza in the area though. I am curious how their other sauce based dished are since that was the highlight for me; I’m sure they’re phenomenal.

AMAZING!!! Isn’t enough to describe the food at this little small restaurant. My husband and I are from Virginia and my husband can be a picky eater, so pizza is an easy option. The pizza you can do half and half with both red or white sauce pizzas and not many places let you do that. Actually I’ve never been to a place that has done that before. We ordered half pepperoni and half spinach and mushroom white!!!

I have had De Fazio’s pizza many times as well of those of its competitors in the Capital Region. De Fazio’s makes a very good pizza and is my current favorite in the Albany area. The restaurant has an issue with lack of cooking capacity. It sometimes gets overwhelmed by(justifiable) demand and you can wait in excess of an hour for takeout pie at times. The pepperoni round pie I consumed on 9÷5÷15 was well seaoned with oregano and tomato sauce and contained plenty of pepperoni. My only quibble is that the crust of the pie is kind of thick and doughy, a style which is I do not favor. On the whole though, I would not hesitate to return to DeFazio’s for its very good pizza. I must add that they are closed on Sundays which is kind of inconvenient if you are looking to fill your pie hole on a football Sunday.

Best. Pizza. Ever. Simple onion, pepper, and tomato pie delivered. Crust baked to perfection. Not too crusty, just chewy enough. The SAUCE! Sweet Lord. Tangy and savory. I’ve eaten a lot of pizza in my day. I’m kinda a big deal in the pizza business. Will order from here again.

Best pizza around! I’ve lived in Italy and go there every summer, every time I get back I go through a period of not eating and sadness because I can never find a good pizza, finally I can! this place is #1 the service and the quality of ingredients is what matters, and this place has it all.

I am absolutely a pizza snob. I grew up where there were several pizzerias that were run for generations by families who came from Italy and made their living sharing their pizza-making gift with the people of New York. Ever since I learned about Defazio’s, I’ve been itching to get there, but during the times I’ve been in Troy, I’ve been tempted away by other food venues(shame on me, I know). However, I just discovered that Defazio’s has a booth at the downtown Albany Thursday farmers market! I realize that this review may not be equivalent to the pizza you’ll get at the troy spot, but there are plenty of reviews for that… so read on if you’re curious whether the traveling pizza oven is worth a try(hint: yes). My cheese pizza($ 7) from the farmers market stand was pretty much all I had hoped for. The crusts were premade«personal pizza”-sized discs, ladled with sauce and your choice of toppings, and slid into a miniature pizza oven. The whole process took about ten minutes. There are cheese, spinach, and pepperoni options, as well as Stromboli. I got there at about 12:15 pm, and after they took about four more customers after my order, they were all sold out! So aim to get there by noon! Back to the pizza. A beautiful char on the crust; mild, sweet sauce; and a hefty topping of stringy, fatty mozzarella cheese! My only critique: there were some fairly large chunks of onion in the sauce, which can be a little unpleasant, but that’s a personal preference. Ok, my second only critique, the crust, while delicious from the char, was a little dried out(likely due to the pre-baking, traveling, reheating). I can only imagine how great the in –store fresh made crust will be. Thank you, Defazio’s, for bringing your beautiful pizza across the river! I’ll be coming your way to try some in-house in short order!
