I rode into Truckee on a day that saw almost 6ft of snowfall. When I packed for the trip, I thought my normal hiking boots would be enough, but after sinking several feet into the snow just trying to walk from the driveway to the cabin, I realized that I needed some real snow boots. The Payless Shoes store in Truckee made my stay much more comfortable. When I visited this shop in November, they stocked flip flops alongside their snow boots, which I thought was interesting, but hey, it’s best to be ready for anything. I found a pair of snow boots that were waterproof and had a cold temperature rating. It also happened to be bogo(buy one get one half off), which happens so often at Payless that you are more likely to visit during a bogo sale than on a non sale day. They don’t have the most impressive variety of any one particular type of shoe, but they usually have what you need at the moment for cheap.
