Terrible party here on Saturday night. People were given incorrect orders, waiters didn’t care. Food tasted dry and terrible. Messed up just about everything down to drinks. Service was terrible. We had to wait an hour and a half for food after ordering it. They even flickered the lights at 9:30 to kick us out. Terrible experience don’t book a party here they put ZERO effort into it.

I was at an adult birthday party at American Bistro and it was terrible. Service was slow, steak was overdone and at 9:30 the lady restaurant host was turning the lights on and off let us know the wanted us out. I will NEVER go back!

An American Bistro holds a special place in my heart. Why is the age of the typical patron over 50? 60 perhaps? I don’t know. Maybe they know how to spot a good bargain. The restaurant offers generous portions that, while not revolutionary, are dependable and almost uniformly good. I particularly recommend the brisket, which is very juicy and a decent price for what you get. The bread is also SO good. It’s a relaxed, homey environment. You see a lot of families and elderly couples. Just a great place for a filling, tasty comfort meal.

Not very pleased in general. I thought it was a bit pricey and the food wasn’t great.

I recently had my daughter’s bridal shower here. They were attentive and very professional. Most importantly the food was delicious! We had a great day with no stress. Thank you American Bistro!

Unfortunately, I have to take away 2 stars because of the waitress, not the food. The food is always great, but the unfriendly, sour puss waitress spoils the experience. We dread getting this waitress when we arrive since she puts a damper on the meal. In fact, the last time we were there is probably the last for a while since she turned us off to dining there. Obviously from other reviews she is like this with almost everyone. Why work at a job where you depend on tips when you are so unpleasant? The owners should rethink who they hire and how it affects their business.

I really love this place. Great food, service and atmosphere. I don’t get there too often as it is a bit far from home. I really enjoyed the grilled salmon & faro. The fish was cooked perfectly. My mother tried the Braised Beef Brisket with sweet & sour sauce and red cabbage. She also loved her meal. We opted for the bread pudding for dessert and called it a day.

Have been going here, granted not very frequently, since they were located in Mamaroneck. I this place is really a step above most restaurants in the area. High quality ingredients that are prepared well(not to mention the great bread). I don’t think I have ever had a bad meal here.

Happily had dinner here last night and like always, it was delicious. Love the rosemary herb bread… crusty, soft and tastes great. We had the roasted shrimp app which came with 4 nice size shrimp with a pineapple salsa — so good! For dinner, we always get the beef brisket in the most amazing sweet and sour sauce. It came with a potato soufflé but we always ask them to sub it out for the horseradish potato croquette. This time it came with red cabbage instead of spinach, which was a nice change. With all these elements in the dish, you get a perfect bite every time. My only complaint has to do with the staff… the waitress we had(who is always there) isn’t friendly at all… Actually let me correct that, she isn’t friendly to anyone under the age of 60 and who aren’t regulars. She isn’t personable and when I asked her to suggest something she basically scoffed at me. However, the food is too good to take a star away because of this woman. Wish I could eat here 3x a week.

We had a family rehearsal dinner here the night before my son’s wedding. I really liked how friendly and efficient the staff here handled everything. They were very attentive in every detail for our party of 25. The buffet dinner included roasted salmon that was silky smooth and cooked perfectly… even for a seafood snob Alaskan like me! I was last in line, and got the last piece of fish. The staff quickly brought out another pan for anyone who wanted seconds, including me! Great service!

I love this place. The food is always consistent, the service is great. A very friendly staff and owner. Their burger is delicious. As is the meatloaf. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are large. The atmosphere is relaxed and modern. I’ve never had a bad meal here

I cannot say enough about this lovely restaurant! I had been to An American Bistro many times for brunch and lunch(the brunch items are incredible and the lunch salads are satisfying and tasty), when I decided to hold my sister’s bridal shower there. My sister, mother and I had a wonderful experience right from the start, when we were welcomed in for a tour by the owner. We immediately fell in love with the tap room and the insane value offered for showers! We started our usual chain of events — pretending we needed to «see the layout» as an excuse to treat ourselves to wine and dinner numerous times. The service, the food, the wine, the ambiance– all wonderful! On the day of the event, the staff was friendly and accommodating even with my high maintenance self running the show.(Did I mention I am an event planner! Nightmare!) The food was delicious, the mimosas were flowing, the service was spot on. Thank you, thank you! I love this restaurant!!!

I was in the bar room for the live jazz tonight. Nice atmosphere, good selection of beer, and great food. I had the scallop appetizer and a side of fries – all very yummy. The rest of my group seemed very happy with their meals, too – burgers, sandwiches, and salads. Service was friendly. Casual enough for a meal off the train, but nice enough for a special gathering, too.

American Bistro offers delicious dishes with sizeable portions at fair prices. I loved the bar area. There are tons of tables and it has a neat vibe too it. Its not a modern place, but I totally dig the darker, pub feel, especially since it is much cleaner and nicer than a pub. We should have had dinner in there, instead of the more formal dining room, which was nice, but a little… stuffy. Service was great though-prompt, professional, courteous. The place is going to have a line out the door soon! To eat: Apps: Shrimp and Crab rolls-total yum, fresh, nice flavors clearly made to order, as were the seared scallops. Enough to share, but I didn’t really want to. Main Courses: A huge tastee salad with walnuts and cheese, and an expertly prepared fish and shrimp scampi. No dessert – was too full!

A rare Sunday lunch by myself turned a disappointment. Despite the positive reviews, I found this not only not great but actually kind of bad. I should have known when they brought a bread basket filled with what looked like leftovers — a quarter of a bagel, a fragment of croissant, two mini muffins, that were rock hard from sitting under a heating lamp for hours. Seriously. Hard as a rock. Then the sweet potato and butternut squash soup with smoked ham had what seemed to be sliced ham cold cuts in it. Consistency was gross and didn’t taste good. House smoked salmon with root veg slaw, potato puffs and mustard dressing sounded delicious but what arrived was salmon on top of a mayonnaise-y slaw with four sad tater tots. The slaw totally drowned out the taste of the house cured salmon, which on its own didn’t seem terrible. Both selections were from the appetizer section of the menu — which lists items oddly of equal or greater value than the salads, wraps and entrees on the rest of the menu. So: pay more, get less? A sad meal, period, but especially sad since I was really looking forward to enjoying it.

Great food, great service and probably the best rib eye I’ve had outside of a nice steakhouse. Its the perfectly cozy spot for a nice Sunday dinner. Didn’t get a chance to try their dessert but the table next to us had a nice ice cream concoction which we must order

Ok so I’ve been to this restaurant twice already. First time, somewhat memorable, I remember a salad and drinking wine. Second time, I’m writing down what I remember because I know I’ll forget again lol. So the 2 stars goes to the cleanliness of the bathroom and the fact that you can BYOB for a $ 20 corkage fee, so we got two magnum sized bottles for 4 people, $ 10 each… It got another star for the their good bus boy service, bringing my plates, being oh so polite, and refilling my water constantly. Another star for their profiteroles with the chocolate sauce omg yum. But TAKEAWAY a star for them BURNINGMYSTEAK. UMM I ASKEDTHEMFORMEDIUMRARE… DOTHEYNOTUNDERSTANDTHECONCEPTOFMEDIUMRARE? THEYTOTALLYRUINED A PERFECTLYGOODCUTOFSIRLOIN. ITCAMEOUTJUST A LITTLEPINK. ISTHATMEDIUMRARE? I WANNASEESOMEDAMNREDTOO! So I ended up not eating my steak, I guess I’ll give it to the dogs. And TAKEAWAY another star for the waitress who helped us, ORWHODIDN’T HELPUS. When we sat down my friend asked about the corkage fee and all we got back from this rude waitress was«uhh OK.» What the eff does uhh ok mean? And thanks for not checking on our table at all. Thanks for looking at us girls like we’re 16 yr old non tippers. Thanks for the attitude and we hope u appreciate your 20% tip so next time if we ever do come back you won’t be a bitch.

This is my MIL’s favorite place to go. It is a bit on the pricey side but not priced above the quality of the food. They always have something for anyone at the table. Service is brisk and professional and they remember you(a rarely done art now in most restaurants). I have had good fish, steak, chicken, veggie meals here. They can mix a decent drink-another dying art. Their wine list is reasonable with low markup for some nice wines. It is a perfect family get-together place-you can talk, you can hear your partners, they know how to take care of the kids and the elderly members of the party.

SETTING: I came here on a crazy Sunday when two girlfriends and I were driving from upstate New York and decided to go somewhere for dinner. Pulling out each of our phone apps to search for a local Italian place haha I found this restaurant when perusing through opentable. the place looked cute enough & the menu seemed pretty extensive so we decided to give the place a try. I’m not so familiar with this area of NY besides Yonkers and even then, I’d probably still get lost. First impressions — it looks like a local favorite which I thought was charming! It’s cozy, nice lighting, not stuffy at all, and the everyone there seemed to be enjoying themselves. It was packed and everyone seemed older(but then again it’s Sunday night). FOOD: for appetizers, my friends and I shared three plates. 1. CAJUNSPICEDCALAMARI was ok. it’s typical an nothing notable. I’d get something else.(also, it was kind of rubbery.) 2. ALMONDCRUSTEDFRESHMOZZARELLAFRITTERS were really good. I’ve had similar fried mozz and this is on top of my list. my friend likes hers piping hot and gooey but I like my fritters to be soft and chewy and a bit soaked in the sauce — I loved the balsamic glaze that came with it! 3. SEAREDSCALLOPS omg scallops are a favorite of mine but only if it’s good. there was a time one summer when I wouldn’t go to a restaurant unless they had scallops. my favorite is when it’s just pan seared with butter — it’s super simple but amazing when fresh and done just right. the scallops here were pretty good — cooked perfectly(I like it a bit raw on the inside but super seared on the outside!). they were a good size(huge scallops weird me out and small ones just annoy me). the dressing didn’t overpower and I loved the cauliflower mash! I’m on a low carb diet and I’ve made caulimash before — it just didn’t taste this good!(I asked our waiter and he said it’s the cream and prosciutto) 4. RIBEYE — this was part of the daily special. my friend and I ended up ordering this and it didn’t disappoint. the meat was tender, perfectly cooked(I like mine medium) and tasted amazing. I was actually pretty disappointed with myself when I couldn’t finish it.(it was huge!!!) 5. OSSOBUCCO — I think this was also part of the daily special and omg everyone should try this! I like a good osso bucco(though it sits heavy) and so when my friend ordered this and asked me if I wanted to try, my fork was already on it’s way to her plate. the meat just mets in your mouth! it wasn’t completely falling apart, it was just perfectly done. this is something that I’ll definitely order when I come back. SERVICE: I loved our waiter here. he was so nice, joked around and suggested the $ 20 wine bottles. YES, A $ 20BOTTLEOFWINE! we ended up ordering two by the end of the night. our glasses were never empty, the waiter was available when needed and he didn’t hover. PRICE: it ended up being $ 65 per person. I thought it was a good price for an appetizer each, heartly meals(ribeye and osso bucco?!), two bottles of wine for the table, and a good tip! put this place on the west side and you can easily spend twice as much. xoxo
