I was extremely shocked that this place was awarded 4 stars. This was one of the first restaurants I visited upon moving to Tucson from Dallas(recommended by my husband’s great-uncle, if that tells you anything), so perhaps I was still applying my Dallas expectations to Tucson restaurants. The restaurant smelled funny when we walked in, and the décor was NOT indicative of the prices. I ordered a salad, and I’m positive it was over $ 10, it might have been as much as $ 13 or $ 14 — for a salad with chicken, not steak or fish. If I’m ordering a salad for $ 13, it better be epic– and sadly, Buddy’s salad was just meh. My husband ordered a burger, and it was also overpriced for the quality. Maybe we should check out the happy hour, but if you’re going during regular dining hours, you can find much cheaper and equivalently delicious food.

Ok so I know I’ve kinda been saying it a lot recently but I love buddy’s grill! I used to make a point of eating here once a week. I don’t know why I stopped. ok well I moved across town but I eat here any chance I get. It’s the kinda place that does everything pretty well, burgers, steaks, salads, soups, sandwiches, you name it they have one that will satisfy. Zucchini bread muffins! Mmm so good! The bread as well. Some of my regular picks: rubin, french dip, belt-buster burger(if your feeling up to it), chicken cesar salad, chicken tenders. When I was a kid the PB&J. oh and I too eat with my grandparents here regularly.

We eat at Buddy’s a lot just because it is close. The food is consistent and good. But, I think their prices are a bit high for what you get. Wait staff is terrific.

The complimentary bread & muffin basket is… TODIEFOR! –Especially for carbaholics such as myself. The establishment itself reminds me of a place you’d take the grandparents for lunch… meet with class/work mates for a quick bite… that’s about it! The food itself? Nothing memorable. Still I don’t mind coming here for some decent eats while in the neighborhood.

So today we went to lunch at Buddy’s which I have had numerous people tell me I must go. My fiancé and I did around 3pm which happened to be Happy Hour so half price appetizers and drinks… which was splendid because even though it was half off these were not half size portions. Instead we had so much food we literally took over half of it home with us. The burger was good but honestly I loved the fried delicious bad for you food! Seriously the zucchini so good along with the nachos — which were so over the top loaded that I couldn’t resist. To top it all off my fiancé and I split a chocolate shake and it was truly delish! So I am definitely an advocate for this place and would say this is a place worth going especially with a group of people to split the appetizers!

We love to go here for half price appetizers and drinks after the movie. The portions are huge even during happy hour so you can easily share with a friend or two. The lavosh is one of my personal favorites but I also enjoy the fruit and cheese plate, chicken fingers, sonoran shrimp cocktail, and the nachos from time to time. There are two happy hours each day. One for early birds and a second one from 9 pm to closing.

I had dinner here tonight… and when we first walked into the establishment i got kinda of sick of the stomach. I really do hate restaurants that have carpet… i mentioned this earlier in a review i did about the Golden Corral. One of the specialties here is Liver and grilled onions i guess because the place wrecked of it… but none the less we sat down and looked over the menu. Since we had such a great deal from we decided to stay. The service was average… because the waiter only checked on us a couple of times after we ordered… thank goodness we didn’t need much else. I had the cheddar cheese soup with potatoes to start… then i had the Turkey burger with a large milkshake. My wife had the bacon cheese burger with fries and the same strawberry milkshake i had. Now i have to tell you the milkshake was a true treat… because they make them homemade and just like from my childhood days they give you the extra in the same container they made it in. I was truly shocked to see this… because i didn’t think anyone did that anymore… and for that reason alone i will be returning. So while this locale is not top’s on my list by any stretch of the imagination… it wasn’t awful. Eat, Drink and Be Merry my Friends!!!

I visited here while at White Sox Spring Training, and it was awesome! It was ironic, how, being from Illinois, that our waiter was actually from Downers Grove! I got a meatloaf sandwich and fries, very good! Highly recommended! I probably will never be back!

I love the Reuben sandwich. The burgers are great as well. Great place to go later in the evening have an appetizer and adult beverage. The staff is always pleasant and efficient. Big Smiles everywhere!!! We try to stop there at least 2 times a month.

We have always liked Buddy’s. I order the pork chops and better half takes the sea food or the pasta. Once she had liver and said it was fine. I can’t stand the sight or smell of it but that’s just me. It’s a go backer.

Was just at Buddy’s last week and they had a big group there so the girl in charge brought out free shrimp for us as she said we were waiting too long… anywhere else this would never happen and the matter of fact is that we were not waiting very long at all. They are really good! When dinner came it was right on!

I actually eat here at least once a month. The food is good and the service compliments it. You will fall in love with there zucchini muffins. I always leave with some stashed in my purse, you know for later. The prices are cheap and they have a fantastic frozen yogurt bar. with unlimited toppings. Have fun !! yum yum

While in AZ recently my mother dragged me to Buddy’s Grill. She loves it. I should have realized, given that my 60something mother loves it, that it really is a restaurant for the blue hairs. The food was fine. Inoffensive. Kind of bland. This could be because I ordered a rather inoffensive lunch — grilled chicken sandwich(no bun) and fries. The chicken was better than I’ve had at some places, worse than I have had at others. The fries seemed like they were the frozen kind and not freshly cut.(That’s a thing with me, I admit). They were also not salted.(Surprisingly I appreciate that because I don’t really like salt, but that’s just another sign it is for the blue-hairs.) They have your typical Arizona options of lemonade in various flavors and flavored tea. All in all, it was just average.

I really like this place. It’s not overwhelmingly crowded, and if there is a wait it’s not too long, you can always call in reservations too. I have to agree with the other reviewer about their Chicken Sonoma… this is one of the BEST chicken dishes I’ve ever had. I get it every time I go there. My wife loves their Salmon too. She is pretty picky about her fish, and she LOVES theirs. I also love that the seating is mostly booths, so you can actually have a conversation without screaming over the ambient noise.

Meh. I have eaten there a few times and cannot recall anything about the place other than I felt rushed and I left not liking what I ordered and that it was a lot more money than I thought I was going to pay. Overall I’d say splurge the little bit more you would have to spend and go to a better higher end place.

The name«Buddy’s Grill» sounds, in my mind, as if a little greasy diner car on the wrong side of the tracks with a big dirty cook in a stained white undershirt behind the grill(presumably Buddy himself). The actually Buddy’s is nothing like my imagined diner. In fact, Buddy’s is a higher end American bistro that is a neat combination of comfort food and eclectic cuisine. The entrance to Buddy’s is the fiirst clue: nice dark wood, big leather booths, and an open kitchen. Drinks are ok here, but stick to beer for your WONDERFULFANTASTICBURGER. Really, Buddy’s has great burgers, especially in a burger-challenegd town like Tucson, where Fuddrucker’s typically wins Tucson Weekly’s «best of» burger every year; it’s shameful that Buddy’s gets overlooked. Any burger you order will do. They’re big, juicy, and all around quality. There are a number of other good meals here, especially chicken and pasta dishes that are quite good. Service is pretty good and most of the servers seem to genuinely enjoy working there. The only real drawback is that Buddy’s gets really busy during peak hours, so your server may be a little rushed. Parking can sometimes be difficult, as Buddy’s is located in the zoo that is Crossroads Festival. Buddy’s is also slightly on the pricey side for those on a budget, but I think it’s worth it overall. And if you see Buddy in the kitchen, tell him I said«Hi».

Oh how I miss Buddy’s Grill… I used to go here once or twice a month while in college and it was for one thing and one thing only: Chicken Sonoma This is the end-all-be-all of chicken dishes! Thinly pounded chicken breast that’s lightly breaded and then topped with asparagus and mozzarella and some sort of madeira-like sauce. OHDELISH.
