This place was on kitchen cops so do yourself a favor, dont eat there!!! Trust me, your toilet will thank you. Sean Mooney from Channel 4 tucson news did the report. Sean is golden in my mind!!! Check out the hibachi grill on speedway if you want decent buffet.

Ahhhh — Another Chinese buffet in town! Seems like they’re popping up everywhere! But little that I know, this wasn’t any ordinary Chinese buffet. It’s a Sea food buffet mix with the regular Chinese buffet food. Golden Coast Super Buffet is located on the NW corner of 1st and Wilmot next to the chevron –can’t miss it. I’ve been here twice and had a great experience every time. For a little under ten bucks you get to dine on some all you can eat; crab, shrimp, salmon, clams, crawfish, scallop, sushi and much more. And if you’re not a sea food fan they also serve the regular Chinese food buffet that you would see in other Chinese buffet around town. Keep in mind it’s a Chinese buffet, don’t expect the food to taste like a 5 star upscale restaurant(You will surely be disappointed). The service was excellent(had the same server twice). Every time we went up to get more food, our old/used dishes were cleared off and our drinks were filled. My favorite item to get here are the CLAMS!!! OMG it is so good here. Like other places the clam doesn’t have that nasty salty/sea taste, but more of a relaxing fresh clam taste. Hits my taste buds just right. Lol, let’s just say I get a whole plate just for the clams! All and all this place is great for the price. PS– if you want fresh food at a buffet go when it’s busy! ^_^

The correct address is 715 E. Wetmore but it’s at the intersection of 1st& Wetmore… If your idea of a great Chinese cuisine experience involves cold, chewy, tasteless food, and inattentive service, don’t pass this place up. If however you like food to have taste or at least be warm, and your plates cleared or your drink refilled, perhaps you’d kindly move on, these are not the facilities you are looking for. Pretty sure I won’t be back. Understand my expectations of an all you can eat Chinese buffet are pretty low to begin with, I took a friend who is from rural North Carolina and has never in his life tasted good Chinese food. He went with me to the last place I reviewed and he liked their food(I didn’t) so I think it is significant that he hated the place as much as I did. He tried the pizza and didn’t finish one small slice… bad. I tried the egg drop soup; I prefer wonton but that had nothing in it but cubes of soy(really? in wonton soup?), not one wonton, no veggies, and it looked pretty tired; my expectation is clear broth, not cloudy… I was leery of the hot and sour since it was literally overflowing the pot and I could tell it was cold. Well turned out the egg drop was cold too, but I think it was probably the best tasting thing I ate all meal — which is not saying much. The only thing that wasn’t cold was the wasabi. The Sushi is your best bet if you are caught so hungry you will faint before you can get to Carl’s Junior across the street for actual food. I literally could not taste a difference between sesame chicken and general tso’s. Cold chow mein is no fun, i will say the fried rice was fluffy and looked good, and it was the only thing that had taste — very salty. The ice cream was not bad but they were out of chocolate and out of spoons at the self serve station. Four kinds of ice cream but no labels and the staff member did not speak enough English to tell me what they were. Also the pork ribs were on a platter marked«baked fish». Service? No one stopped by during the meal and we had to refill our own drinks. The plates were uncollected. I didn’t try the Hibachi grill. So maybe that’s the ticket. But I say Give it a miss. The management doesn’t care if you come anyway.

This place was literally disgusting. Every bit of food I tried was cold to the touch and seemed very old. I go to a lot of Chinese buffets and this was by far the worst. The only edible thing was kielbasa sausage, that I can only imagine the found in the freezer from when this used to be Golden Coral. I got a plate of food, tried about everything, it was all cold. I tried one more just to see if it was all bad, and it was. My girlfriend and I both looked at each other with a sad expression and agreed to just leave and never look back. First time I have ever left a buffet hungry. Two nights later a friend went there and later that night had uncontrollable diarrhea and vomiting, I don;t know if it was from the place, but I am sure cold buffet food is not a safe thing to eat. The health department should literally shut this place down.

Food lovers rejoice! You will find stations and stations of food! Excellent choices and reasonable pricing – so says our«Dining Trio»(mom, Gary-husband, and I)! We love eating in new places, supporting the hard-working entrepreneurs. We used to frequent this location before, when it was a Golden Corral. Lots of easy parking. On First just north of Wetmore. Big, expansive feel. The new restaurant has kept much of the Golden Corral basic layout, adding an Oriental touch. It looks like they are still adding and decorating, perhaps a sushi bar area? The current buffet is extensive and delicious. This Dining Trio is well familiar with most Chinese buffets around town, and this one is now among our faves. Why? The variety of food choices, the decent food quality and what seems like a very popular Hibachi chef help make this a fun dining experience. You can assemble your own ingredients and he’ll cook it up to your specs. Kind of like Mongolian type places, but a little different. The neat thing is that you don’t even have to do that, because so much food abounds! I took samples from the current sushi area(both cooked and raw items). Pretty classy variety for this price a buffet. I wish they’d label the varieties as I was unsure of some ingredients. I enjoyed the(cooked) sushi items that ended up on my plate. I found the usual Chinese buffet Sesame chicken, Gen Tso’s chicken, green beans, soups, pizza, and a few dishes unique to this restaurant as well. My mom loved their spareribs(a bit fatty but tasty in her opinion). The booth tables boast a Korean BBQ burner, so they obviously offer this type of food also.(YUM!) I don’t know how that works price-wise(part of buffet or additional?). Next visit, we’ll check it out for sure. What a multi-cultural, versatile choice of foods! A separate dessert station features unlabeled ice cream flavors(you get to guess!) and the usual Chinese buffet cakes(do they all get baked in one bakery and distributed, I wonder?) PLUS a few unique desserts scattered around the buffet in other sections that I really liked. One was a really tasty egg custard in a crispy phyllo-type edible shell(something new to me!) and an apple-type dessert. You can also get the usual fruits, cookies, and puddings on a separate station. We enjoyed ourselves during our weekday night repast. It was kind of quiet at first, as I think people are still discovering that it is open for business. More diners filed in later on, and all seemed very happy with their platefuls! The servers were eager to please and had limited English knowledge(I believe they were from Asia). I didn’t see a manager or anyone overseeing the customer area. GROUPNOTE: It looks like they kept the separate room section for private groups. NOTE for those using wheelchairs: I observed 3 diners tooling around the stations with no trouble navigating and serving themselves. The stations are at a reachable level. And the level flooring allows for a smooth passage. I’m delighted to see this site open for business, and I wish the new proprietors well!

The Wife and I are always excited to try anything new that opens up around town, so we kept passing the Golden Coast Buffet every day on the way home wondering when it would open. Finally this past weekend we got the chance to stop in, and looking back I can say we should have just went to the U Like Buffet on Oracle. The food was decent and on its own maybe I would have given 3 – 4 stars, but the service was bad. Up until Saturday, the worst service I’ve ever had was at Opa! on Campbell but Golden Coast now holds the crown. It was slow when we went, so I’m not sure why our plates were left on the table the whole time or why I had to refill my own drink… oh nevermind, it’s because the server decided to go on break with the sushi chef and eat at a table next to us while ignoring 4 tables of customers for 20 minutes. My guess is they don’t bother to keep up on stocking the desserts either until the end of the night. I took a look into their ice cream freezer and out of 8 tubs, only the chocolate had enough for more than a few scoops while the rest sat empty. Gave them a shot, but will probably be going back to Hibachi on Speedway or U Like on Oracle next time.

Wife and I went last night the only good about this Buffet would be the Sushi selection, it takes them forever to replenish the food trays. Last night there were 8 empty food trays waiting to be replenished and it sure was slow in coming. If you really want a great Buffet go to the Hibachi Grill swan /speedway

Wasn’t sure what to expect when i heard they had converted the Golden Corral into a Chinese food buffet, but I sure am glad they did! The selection here is really amazing for the dinner buffet, they have a full korean barbeque section that is made fresh on the spot and a surprisingly large selection of sushi in varieties that usually aren’t available in a buffet style setting like catepillar rolls, octopus and squid(for a $ 9.99 buffet you can hardly beat that!) as well as just generally good/fair chinese section of the buffet. Might be my new favorite chinese buffet in Tucson. Although the interior is still exactly the same as the restaurant before it and could use some revamping.
