Typical mediocre buffet. Nothing particularly good nor really bad. For $ 7.99 @ lunch I cannot complain. I could have eaten that much in watermelon alone. Usual heavy starch buffet suspects. Service was pretty good for a buffet. Avoid restrooms if at all possible. Pretty nasty. The worst napkins in existence. How 40 cheap napkins can be cheaper than one decent napkin I will never understand. Seems to be a Chinese and Mexican restaurant thing.

The only reason this place is even getting two stars is because at least the service was good. They came around several times to fill up my water but the food was terrible it wasn’t prepared very well the stuff that was supposed to be firm was soggy there were noodles that they had on top of plastic instead of being inside the actual containers most of the meats were cold the few times that you did get something that wasn’t cold that was sitting out and was supposed to be warm it ended up being so hard you couldn’t hardly eat it I think I only tasted maybe two things that were the consistency and the flavor they should have been.

Great Saturday lunch choice. Awesome selection of chicken, beef, and pork. Orange chicken was good and my husband liked the soup choices. Waiters were attentive. We’ll be back for another visit to try more choices.

So they changed this place up a lot. The buffet is a little American, Chinese, Thai, and Japanese. The feel and the atmosphere it better as well. But it is still a buffet so remember all those kids and sticky fingers. The selection is pretty good with all your basics and a few other surprises. It’s an ok buffet if that’s what you are into.

Take out available for $ 4.99 lb. They provide 2 sizes of containers. Sit down lunch is $ 8.60 w tax. I prefer small to go box with a couple favorites. I have only been here at beginning of weekday lunch cycle. Many many dishes to choose from. All appear very fresh and full. Great variety. They have a thin rice noodle which is very good. Large selection of seafood, beef, pork, and chicken dishes. Have not been disappointed with food quality, taste, or selection.

Ok, after eating at East Buffet again, I felt compelled to update my review. Either this place has gone downhill or we hit them on a very bad night. We arrived around 6:15 on a Friday but they weren’t terribly busy. Not a good sign. Usually if a place is worthwhile, they will be busy on a Friday night. Most of the food tasted as if it had been sitting around for a while. All of it was lukewarm at best, which makes me wonder what sort of bacteria could have been breeding at those temps. Call me weird but I prefer my food hot. I tried several chicken dishes and they ranged from mediocre to terrible. The clams were absolutely tasteless and the fish was dry. I love sushi but the choices were very minimal. They only occasionally put out the good stuff, so you are lucky to get one piece of anything decent. Seriously, I had better sushi in the hospital cafeteria. The highlight of a good Asian buffet should not be dessert, but that was the best part of the meal. And by best part, I mean banana pudding and sliced bananas in that weird, red gelatin stuff. The other stuff I tried was stale and gross. So, if you are looking for banana pudding and sliced bananas in questionable red stuff, by all means, give East Buffet a try. Otherwise, run, don’t walk.

First time eating here, and it will probably be our last. My fiancé and I decided to swing by around 2pm during their lunch buffet hours. For $ 7.99 a person, we thought there was no way that we could go wrong. To begin, neither of us liked the green motif of the interior, but I’m not even going to get into that. It was clear so that is good enough for me. Lots of problems with the food. The crab puffs were hardly filled and the sweet and sour sauce they have is(1) a very light pink and(2) tastes like gelatin — there is literally no flavor. It is just a gooey bunch of stuff that you probably shouldn’t put on your food if you want to enhance the flavors. The sushi selection is small, but kind of typical for a buffet. They have a Las Vegas Roll on the heat area, but it gets a little too warm and dried out the rice. So if it didn’t just get put down, it isn’t passable. The chicken dishes(orange chicken, sesame chicken) had a lot of sauce, but the flavor of the sauce wasn’t great to begin with. You can barely even tell the two dishes apart. They also use all kinds of weird meat cuts so sometimes you get a piece of grizzle or fat — gross! I understand to give you a good price they cannot use all white meat chicken. But at least clean the chicken well that you are going to prepare. I shouldn’t have to be pulling hunks of fat out of my meal. Some of the meat dishes were not warm, despite being on warmers. They were kind of room temp, maybe even a little bit cold. This is especially true of the beef dishes that my fiancé decided to try(Mongolian beef, beef and broccoli). He actually started feeling sick in the restaurant and after we left, he threw up 15 minutes later. I didn’t want to react and blame the food. But my stomach started feeling crampy and I threw up about an hour later. That should be enough of a negative review right there. But the service wasn’t great either. I see others had different experiences, but we were disappointed. One of the servers(in our section) actually spent most of his time watching a basketball game that was on. While I get his love of sports, he should be tending to guests –maybe glance over at the TV after plates are cleared, glasses are filled, etc. Lots of people in our area noticed his distraction. Probably will not be back. Just down the road is U-Like Buffet and their food is always warm, has never made me sick, bigger sushi selection, and has hibachi. East Buffet has a lot of work to do.

Your standard, greasy Chinese buffet fare on days where you want quantity over quality. Good variety of foods to choose from including sushi, diy mongolian grill, fried goods, typical take-out entrees, steamed and stuffed seafood items, and of course, ice cream. Not exactly the finest food, but does satisfy my once a year/2 year Asian buffet craving. See you in 2017!

I’m pretty sure that this is the worst place I’ve ever had the displeasure of dining at. I have to be super careful of all Chinese restaurants as I’m allergic to shellfish. Eastern Buffet was sure to spread their shellfish out over the entire restaurant, ensuring that cross contamination and sure death is imminent.(I’m not dead yet, thank goodness.) Now for the food quality: the spring rolls were mushy, and definitely cooked from frozen. The fried rice was groady. The almond cookies were stale. The best part of my experience was the brownie. I love brownies. The strawberry cake was good too. They played creepy music, and worst of all, no happy ending. –_–

Fried rice is awesome. Desert is yummy. It’s very clean and I been here 3 times in one week I know I’m a fatty but that’s how good it is

I hate to do this but I can’t leave my mark of approval on East Buffet after my last encounter. Met a friend a couple days ago who was craving Chinese, so I suggested this place to show him how good it was compared to even some of the takeout places around town. This time I was wrong, and we both walked away feeling not so great. I’m amazed at how the quality of a place can change in such a short time. Maybe I caught you at a bad time, but dinner is like your primetime! None of the food was fresh, it had all been sitting out for quite awhile. Anything fried was overly crunchy or practically burnt. Mind you this was like 6pm, right smack in the middle of what should be dinner time. And with that East Buffet provided a sore reminder of why we do not normally eat at these kinds of places; just not worth the mediocre, old food and the upset stomach for what it is. My advice is to keep your quality consistent! That’s how you keep people coming back.

First visit to East buffet, lured in in-part by reading the good reviews. Unfortunately I was not impressed. There was nothing that was so gross it made me spit the food out, but not one single item that was any better than just«meh» either. Usually I feel like buffets have a couple items to steer clear of, and a couple that are clear winners. Not here. I guess at least that speaks to the consistency of the food quality and favors. Nothing was downright awful. But nothing was great either. Across the board(Chinese, Japanese, and desserts), everything was just«ok.» I probably won’t be returning since there are better Chinese places in town, but it wasn’t my worst experience with Chinese buffets in Tucson either.

Really enjoyed this place. I was surprised at how many sea food options they had. Place was really clean and kept food area full and fresh. Their sushi was very fresh. I recommend their bacon wrapped shrimp, their own version of cocktail sauce and shrimp. Any chicken dish was good. There was no over saltiness at all as other reviews mention. I will definitely come back to this place whenever I’m back in town.

I come here for the Spicy Chicken(loaded with jalapenos) and the Las Vegas rolls. Service is great and these folks are working hard.

Before my visit to East Buffet, I read the reviews for this new restaurant. It seemed to have either been great or terrible, so I knew not to set any expectations for my visit. East Buffet occupies the space of a previous Chinese buffet. Compared to that one, this was was much better. East Buffet is clean, from the tables to the bathrooms. I like how modern it looks on the inside. The prices are a little higher than others. The service is slightly better compared to other Asian buffets in Tucson. My water never got to empty because they paid attention to when it needed to be refilled. Plates were removed in a timely manner and they actually smiled and asked about the food. That usually doesn’t happen at the other places. The food was good, but there are some things to note: they use too much salt, sugar, and/or butter, depending on the item. If they used less and added something more relating to enhancing flavor, it would be great. That said, there was a good variety of food. Overall, I will say that if this place is convenient for you to visit, check it out. Your experience might be better or worse than mine.

If you like authentic style Chinese and Japanese food you will like this restaurant. I tried a little bit of everything and enjoyed exploring the differing seafood fare. You can’t compare apples to oranges and it is not your typical Chinese food. Please try it and live a little!

When I saw that there was a new buffet going into what had been the China D Buffet, I thought perhaps it would be something either equivalent to what had come before or – hopefully — it would be an improvement, especially in light of the continued loss of May Flower at Oracle and Orange Grove. Boy, was I wrong. Cold food. Soggy food. Greasy food. Six buffet stations and I couldn’t tell what half of the food was because nothing was labeled and when there were labels, they were clearly NOT for the food in front of them.(For example, I’m pretty sure sautéed green beans look nothing like crab rangoon… and yet, were I to believe the label…) Asking what things were? Well, when you wanted a staff member, nobody was around. But when one finally sat down, it’s as though they came out of nowhere and were clustered around the host station. Should pork egg rolls have a wrapper that tastes like it’s been soaked in sugar? Or chicken on a skewer be virtually all gristle? I went back and tried again — same flavor for the egg roll and I was able to get about two finger’s worth of acceptable chicken off the second skewer. It’s hard to screw up sweet-and-sour chicken(i.e., the fried puffy pieces of chicken with the obligatory reddish sauce next to it) and to their credit, I could eat that. But I couldn’t find any hot mustard and my server«wasn’t sure» if they had any.(«Could you please ask?» I replied. He was gone for 10 minutes and came back and said, «nobody is sure.») Dinner is $ 10.99 and if I actually was able to choke down $ 6 worth of food(mostly the sweet-and-sour chicken pieces), I’d have been surprised. I never did see a dessert area, though I shudder to think if I did, I’d have found melted ice cream, dried-out cake slices and odd-colored gelatin desserts. While I didn’t try the Japanese food(which seemed only to be sushi, nothing else), at least it looked appetizing enough. But by the time I was interested, my stomach was already rumbling uncomfortably, so I grudgingly paid the bill and left.(I suppose I could have complained about things and tried to angle for a discount, but at that point, I just wanted to leave.) East Buffet has a lot of work ahead of it. First and foremost, fix the food quality. Second, change the layout of things on the buffets so it’s logical — one for salads and sauces/dressings, one for entrees, one for soups and related fixings, one for sushi/tempura/etc. So, the overall experience? It simply wasn’t good and it was reflected in how few people were in there and how disturbingly quiet it was. The space is almost too big for what’s in there. If this is the level of quality they plan to keep, then they will never fill all the tables in there, nor will they remain open for long.
