Went for lunch the other day, it was not busy, many tables were open. The hostess told us it would be a few minutes. Which was weird because we could see all the empty tables and she just sat on her phone for a few minutes before grabbing menus and seating us. She did the same thing to a couple with a baby but the mom actually had the sense to tell her something after which the hostess gave them menus and sat them at the table. The waitress we had however was very nice and friendly and on her game.

We’ve celebrated many special occasions here in the past, so again we went to celebrate my birthday. My husband, 2 sons and I had got there and got seated at a hibachi. We got our drinks put in our order and a few minutes later we were asked to move to a bigger hibachi to join another party because it was a Wednesday night and they didn’t want to use more than one hibachi, so we moved(mind you we had put in our order) so in walks a party of about 8 but they were still waiting for 4 more so the waiter wanted to put our order on hold until the rest of the other party got there and decided what they wanted order and again this was after we had been there about 20 min and put our order in. We’ve been there many times and for the 4 of us to eat off the hibachi is easily over $ 100 so for them to act like our business didn’t matter was really disappointing and because of that I’ll never go back.

My daughter and I were out and about and she was ‘craving’ the Volcano rolls and knew that Hana Tokyo made the best, she knew my favorites are miso soup and tempura shrimp and she ordered those. The hot green tea that she ordered was not hot and the second pot that replaced it was not much better, she gave up and just drank it. The miso soup that would ordinarily be brought before any of the entrees, did not arrive until both entrees had been served. The $ 14 tempura shrimp entrée came with vegetables, it was obvious that the vegetables had been fried with the tempura and just as obvious that the shrimp had not, it had been breaded. Two waitresses and the manager acted at though she did not know what she was talking about but did take the platter back and when it was replaced it was correct. The manager told us that he would give us a discount and he did, he took away the price of the two miso soup’s, not the item that had been misrepresented! We will not be returning.

It’s become a weekend staple for my family, Great food. The hibachi filet mignon and shrimp is excellent, best carrot/ginger salad dressing in town.

We came in with a large group for teppan on a Friday night. Service was cheerful and well organized. We all started with some hot saki and we also tried the seaweed salad. Drinks came out fast and were kept filled throughout the evening. The seaweed was OK. It came on a bed of unflavored cucumbers. Our meals came with small salads that were mostly iceberg lettuce and had not been drained properly, so there was a lot of water at the bottom of the bowl. The ginger dressing was OK but didn’t have a lot of flavor. The texture was a bit weird too. We waited a while for the next course. Our soup didn’t come out until after our teppan chef arrived. It was a dark-colored beef broth a very light flavor and 2 mushrooms, and was a welcome arrival. Finally, after some rather adroit spatula juggling, our chef began to cook. The fried rice was pretty plain and didn’t taste like anything. We all enjoyed the shrimp appetizers, which were very tasty, zingy with lemon. I also tried to scallops, were were perfect. I had the steak and hubby had the filet mignon. The filet mignon was clearly superior, very tender and juicy with a good flavor. I found the steak bland and the cut of meat wasn’t great; there was some gristle in the middle. However, it was good enough to eat, and we ate it all. With 2 sakis, 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, tax, and tip, the bill came to about $ 100, which is pretty standard for this kind of meal but part of what you’re paying for is entertainment.

My friend decided to take me here to try out their food. They have a very large menu with a lot of options. I decided to try their sushi and was disappointed. With check in you can receive a free sushi roll so I got the salmon and avocado. It was extremely dry and the flavors just didn’t compliment each other at all. I ordered the Las Vegas roll and it was okay. The flavors were just basic and they didn’t seem to pop. My friend ordered the teriyaki chicken and the chicken was a bit dry. She also received a side of salad that had the most disgusting dressing on it. It was not appetizing and kind of ruined my expectations for the rest of the night. The atmosphere was kind of quiet and seemed very slow. For the prices the food was very disappointing. I could have gotten better sushi at the supermarket and that is saying something. If you want a show then maybe check out their teppanyaki otherwise skip this place.

…Ok sushi and sashimi… were meh.. I am a sushi snob, and the melt in your mouth flavor sashimi salmon, or hokki clam, or octopus… was disappointing. The pieces of fish that were on the rice were small at best. The sashimi was… ok, though tasted frozen.(yes I have spent two and a half years in Japan… I KNOW what good sashimi and sushi taste like). It should melt in your mouth like«butta». It is next to the movie theater, so they get business, but I have to be honest, I was not terribly impressed. The menu is very thorough. I won’t go back because I LOVE sashimi and sushi, and even the edaname was soft and over cooked. The miso soup was good. Good brother to tofu mixture, perfect combo.

I’ve dined at Hana Tokyo several times, but this is my first review. The service today was the best I’ve experienced, as it’s been hit-and-miss in the past. The lunch crowd was a little light today, which could explain the improvement, plus there appeared to be a server in training. Regardless, the wait staff was very attentive and courteous. Mom initially wanted the shrimp tempura lunch bento, then considered the sashimi lunch special. I noticed the sashimi appetizer actually cost more than the lunch special, plus the special had 9 pieces of sashimi compared to the 6 piece appetizer, so it became a no-brainier. I also compared the price of the shrimp tempura appetizer to the bento lunch and while the bento was a couple bucks more, the additional food(3 pcs. California roll, 2 dumplings, rice, 2 orange slices) was worth the difference. I ended up getting both the sashimi and bento for Mom(I ordered the tonkatsu bento) and told her we’d take home any leftovers. The food arrived quickly, and was very tasty. My Mom loved the sashimi(3 pcs. each of tuna, salmon, and hamachi), sharing some with me. After enjoying the dumplings and a few pieces of tempura, Mom was full. After the sashimi and my own bento, I was also stuffed. I should note you have a choice of either miso soup or a salad with the lunch bento, and we chose a free Spicy Crab Crunch roll using the Unilocal!Check-In. I asked our server for a to-go box, and he had the insight to include some tempura sauce for us. All in all, the food was great, as was today’s service. We’ll definitely be returning to Hana Tokyo, not because it’s the closest sushi restaurant, but because of the consistent quality of food coming from the kitchen, the pleasing atmosphere, and the improved service.

Always a great time! We usually do the hibachi and the chefs are super in accommodating our five year old. It is a little more expensive so this is a special occasion choice for us. Great lunch specials are heavily discounted from dinner.

Excellent sushi place! My boyfriend and I like to come here about once a month the servers are friendly, and the food is tasty. Our favorite specialty rolls are the scorpion roll, volcano roll and mango dragon roll. The price is fair and every time we go its never really busy, another plus is it doesn’t have a fishy smell like most sushi restaurants do. The only thing I don’t like about this place is their tea… They recently changed their green tea and now its really weird. It has like rice in it or something? I’m not too sure all I know is that it tastes awful. it tastes very starchy. And their iced green tea is just super sweetened lipton tea… I hope they just bring back the old green tea!

Haven’t been to this place since it opened! Things have not changed since then. I thought the service was still awesome. Last time we sat at one of the hibachi tables where they cook in front of you, always a treat and very entertaining. However, this time, we went during lunch and opted for a regular table. The place was not very busy at all. Our server came to our table right away. He was very friendly and attentive. This place has a big menu, but since it was lunch time, I went straight to the lunch specials. Oh, and by the way the page next to it was for happy hour. They’ve got happy hour all day every day! Cool! I decided on the salmon teriyaki lunch bento, and my friend had the steak teriyaki lunch bento. The lunch bentos come with rice(white or fried rice), a couple of dumplings, a few pieces of california roll, and fruit. Lots of food! The meal was very fulfilling! The salmon was perfectly grilled and mmm good with the teriyaki on top. Salmon is one of my favorite dishes! We also ordered the Philly roll and Alaska roll off the lunch menu as well. 2 rolls for $ 8, not bad! Oh, and also for the Unilocal check in you receive a free happy hour roll too! With that we ordered the spicy crab roll! So as you can see we had a lot of food on the table! =) I love sushi, so I was in heaven! Again, I have to say that our server was awesome & the sushi chefs were quick in preparing our order. Halfway through the meal I was getting full, I think I was just plain hungry when we got there and didn’t realize how much we had ordered, lol. Anyway, got to bring leftovers home for later. =) My friend tipped the server that it was my birthday, so he made me a complimentary sundae! I thought that was very cool! The sundae hit the spot! Yummy sweet ending to a wonderful lunch!
