WOW! This restaurant had amazing seafood! Great atmosphere(pretty seascape murals on all the walls) and nice space, doesn’t look like much on the outside but beautiful on the inside. The waitress was SUPER helpful and when I couldn’t decide on fish or shrimp gave me half of each!(Ask if you want this too! As long as it’s the same sauce they will do half and half). Food was amazing, ate every last drop. Definitely recommend and will be back again!

The seafood cocktails were so fresh and great! I ordered that and the camarones culichi. The culichi was by far the best seafood I’ve had in a long time.

Not all Mariscos are created equal. Well, who knows, they may have been created equal but they are not performing equally today. This location deserves full throated praise for both its service and more importantly its food. Sit down and enjoy their delicious salsa dip smothered over the best taco chips I have tasted in a Tucson restaurant. Then, order the best guacamole I’ve tasted outside of Mexico. My favorite entrée is the camarone(shrimp) culichi. The green culichi cheesy sauce is a great addition to any cooked fish, mollusk or animal.

By far our favorite place in Tucson! The staff is really nice and helpful and the food is to die for! Simple, amazing ingredients and fresh fish! It is not a fancy place, just the right place if you’re looking for a great experience !! I would eat there every week if I could :-)

Really awesome tostadas ceviche and some of the best guacamole in town. Service was good, and the atmosphere is pure Tucson! Don’t miss.

February 2016 Tostada de Ceviche 2.95 each «most popular seafood appetizer in mexico. shrimp marinated in lime juice, tossed with fresh tomatoes, onions, cucumber and seasoned with cilantro served on a tostada» ***The ceviche was like a bowl of soup. Difficult to find the shrimp. Camarones Culichi 13.95 «the dish that made us famous! shrimp sautéed in our house spices served in a creamy green sauce includes salad and rice» ***Tiny portion with only 5 small shrimp. The sauce was tasty. The«salad» was pretty lame and rice bland. We sat on the patio which was the best thing about this dinner. Very nice. We arrived at 4:45 so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. By 7:00 the were starting to get busy. I will try it again in the hopes they can redeem themselves.

Nice walls. Pretty much straight seafood vibe. I’m a close to the border as it gets Mexican foodie. The real situation of he order is fresh seafood and a quiet ambience. Don’t be fooled there is water everywhere.

Soggy, wet and oversalted. Only good thing was the service. I went there last night for dinner and ordered the octopus sauteed in garlic and special spices, and a tostada with seviche. The tostada was good, but the amount of juices it was served with was so large that it made the tostada soggy and left a quarter inch deep puddle in the plate. The octopus on the other hand was not fresh, over salted and the special spices can be called by their name soy sauce. The combination was odd, french fries and rice. The salad came out of a bag of precut garbage salad(browning at the edges). I cannot see how it merits its four star rating at the moment. Won’t be going back there anytime soon, unless they get a chef who know how to cook, and considers the freshness of the ingredients a priority.

Even though it is a seafood place, I didn’t have seafood when I was there. Had their special green chile chicken.(called by a fancy name). It was amazing! Probably the best of its kind I have ever had. Definitely going to try and go back next time I am in Tucson!

Well shut my flaming hot mouth and color me a Jalapeño popper on steroids — in a town of gooey cheesy and beany lumpiness that all too often passes for Mexican food, Mariscos on Grande is a nice surprise. We found this place through the loveliness of Unilocal at the urging of out-of-town friends whose bucket list included Mexican food in Tucson. The scene — an old diving helmet sitting on an old freezer greets you when you enter, a colorful ocean mural adorns the wall 360 degrees and almost pops out and drags you into the sea. A dozen wooden tables and booths in the front, with a few more in the back, beyond the bathrooms. Friendly, prompt servers, chips and spicy salsa as soon as you sit down, huge ass glasses of water — why huge asses of water, you ask? Some of the food is spicy. SPICY. Unilocal will not allow me to increase the font to the size of my head, so you will have to visualize the enormity of the spiciness that is this Mariscos. Virtually everything had a little heat with the pico de gallo accompaniment to the Marlin Tacos being the top of the heap. The pico de gallo virtually burned the fillings out of my molars. Let me back up to THEMENU — refreshingly devoid of carne asadas, big bean burritos as large as saguaros. Instead, there is octopus, smoked marlin tacos, fish filet and shrimp in mysterious sauces. Various versions of shrimp cocktail. The menu here takes the person seeking traditional Tex-Mex out of his comfort zone and into the Twilight Zone(especially if he has the pico de gallo). Most expensive menu items are the fish or shrimp platters, which come with a salad, rice, and sometimes fries.(Yes, a little odd — but maybe Mariscos means«chile peppers disguised as fries».) $ 13.50. Three marlin tacos platter $ 9.50 comes with three perfectly toasted soft tacos filled with smoked marlin, which tastes a lot like salmon. A little bit of heat. Accompanied by homemade coleslaw and Death Star pico de gallo. This place is known for its mysterious red and green sauces, as well as its seafood broths. There is one fish and one shrimp dish with the sauces — which can be best described as something decadent and rich, slightly spicy, with touch of cheese. The platter comes with a side of flour tortillas, rice and veggies. The seafood broth — of which there are many versions — was perfect for cooler days and not spicy. Two men at the table next to us also had the seafood broth and were wiping the liquid goodness from their handlebar mustaches when we entered. The soup was THAT good. The downside — margaritas extremely sweet, little alcohol. The ladies bathroom — single stall, wheelchair accessible — toilet did not flush… a problem for a place with such spicy food? Though the rest of the place was clean, devoid of mysterious sticky objects on or beneath tables and chairs. A nice inexpensive meal, well worth the drive for us.

I love this place. Oddly enough, it seems to have the best seafood in Tucson. Not all«Mariscos» are created equal — the one on Ina sucks, but this one on Speedway is phenomenal. Been here maybe 4 times and never had a bad meal. They immediately bring chips and salsa, both are my favorites in town. Service is always great, they have very friendly waitstaff. Took my daughter and her husband there today on the way to the airport. They are Portland foodies, and really enjoyed their meal. The Ceviche was wonderful, with quite a large portion. The two diners that ordered the fish tacos were both happy, especially my wife who had the marlin. I had the 7 seafood soup, and it exceeded my expectations. I thought it was a little short on clams, but lots of shrimp and octopi in there. I don’t know why we don’t eat here more often, it is a bit of a haul from Oro Valley but totally worth it.

I have to say, the best Mariscos Chihuahua in town. I have really only been to two others here in Tucson. I don’t normally like comparing, but this place hits it out of the park. Good customer service, and great food. Their marlin tacos are just mouth watering. Their tostadas de ceviche, just as good. Their oyster aren’t anything special, but when it comes to those sorts of foods, fresh is key, but being this place is in Tucson they’re darn decent.

I came in at noon on a Sunday and the parking lot was full. No big deal, as there is plenty of nearby street parking. As this restaurant is on the west side of I-10, away from all of the touristy areas, most of the customers there were locals. Very good sign. The chips were fresh, not greasy, and the salsa was good as well. I ordered the smoked marlin tacos, which came in 3 small corn tortillas with melted cheese, onions, and peppers. They were really good, as they were not too fishy. The dish also came with a side of slaw, topped with 3 slices of avocado, and some pico de gallo. I wasn’t a fan of the slaw, as it was mayo based. The service was great and they even let me use a hot spot for my phone.

The seafood at this place is phenomenal. I had the Agasajo with both cooked and raw shrimp, octopus, and sliced scallops. The combination of both shrimp made it very delicious. It was the right blend of spices and I would recommend it 100%. I especially enjoyed the culichi shrimp in green sauce. Shrimp and sea bass in this dish were cooked well and the fish was very moist. If you like to drink I recommend the michelada with Pacifico beer. Has the right amount of tang and heat, definitely the best michelada I had in a long time. The staff was very friendly and prompt. I would recommend anyone looking for an authentic Mexican seafood experience. Definitely coming back to this place!

We came here for dinner as our first stop in Tucson. The outside looks a little bit sketch, and that impression wasn’t improved by the two homeless people loitering outside that tried to convince us to illegally park in a handicapped spot. The parking lot is small, and we ended up parking on the street right outside of the parking lot. The inside of the restaurant is charming. The walls are painted like beaches /the ocean, and there are some more themed decorations throughout, including a fishing net hanging from the ceiling adorned with Christmas light. Apart from being charming, it did seem a little bit run down inside, and our menus were spotted. The food redeemed this restaurant from all of those details. My husband deemed the salsa that came out with chips in the beginning of the meal as top five he has ever had. I ordered the(inexpensive) tostada ceviche to start, and the flavor was phenomenal. I had the smoked Marlin tacos, and my husband had the fish culichi. Both tasted great. I’d definitely come back here, specifically for the tostada ceviche. If you aren’t into fish or shrimp, they had what looked like a new section of the menu with some of their top dishes that use chicken instead.

I am normally skeptical about eating any type of seafood that I didn’t personally prepare — I know, call me a worry wort… but boy am I glad that I stepped out of my comfort zone to try this place! I have been here with friends on numerous occasions — the fish tacos, the cerviche — all outstanding. My personal favorite is the fish culichi… it is so buttery and tender and rich and delicious. The fish practically melts in your mouth. The shrimp culichi is equally as good, and some may prefer it due to the more robust nature of the shrimp meat. Not spicy, but savory. It is total comfort food! Be brave, try it!

3 words. Bacon wrapped shrimp! I had no idea where I was going to eat for lunch in Tucson. A colleague hit me with the intel on the real good Mexican restaurants in the area. This one was definitely a hit. Chips and salsa were authentic. The salsa was savory and not too sweet or loaded with tomatoes and cilatro like a lot of salsa I’ve had in the past. But that bacon wrapped shrimp though. My God!!! Man, listen… it was off the chains. The shrimp were plump, filled with cheese and wrapped in crispy bacon. Think I didn’t punish? Ha! The rice, salad & fries were a great compliment to the bacon & shrimp. The wait staff were very very friendly which made the experience even better.

Thought there is a little bit decline in the food quality since my last visit in the spring. But still love it. Homemade salsa is a killer.

Authentic Mexican food in Tucson was my goal, one of them. Getting hungry and late, I Unilocaled and end up this wonderful restaurant! The usual suspects in Mexican place, which are salsa, meaning sauce, & chips were unbelievable good. Not greasy though warm and thin chips were excellent, though the main compliment goes to salsa! Don’t know how to describe it! I’ve been many Mexican places in my life, this is the reason why we go to Mexican restaurant. Got excited, so we ordered lots of stuffs. They were all good. Oysters, margarita, grilled fish, fish in green sauce, all super. All I can say is thanks Unilocal. Definitely I will go there again when I’m in Tucson, AZ.
