Papa John’s Pizza

Wow looking at the ratings is hilarious. It definitely deserves one star. I tried to order pizza on their website and it wouldn’t work. The wife tried numerous times, so we gave and decided to order by phone. Huge mistake. Let’s just say this place is no bueno and leave it at that.

Called on and ordered a «half mushroom half cheese pizza.» The man taking the order said, «so you want extra cheese?» I told him that I wanted it «plain.» I ended up getting a pizza with half cheese and mushroom pizza with the other side nothing but crust and burnt sauce. Literally «plain.» I called back to discuss the interpretation of «plain» and the «assistant manager on duty», as she introduced herself as, said that her associate said that’s what i ordered and there was nothing she could do about it. I corrected her and reiterated the conversation and reluctantly she sent me a new pizza. Horrible training, horrible taste in management and horrible customer service. I work for a very large company in Tucson that uses this location regularly. I will be taking our business elsewhere.

They used to be quick and good but the last 3 times I ordred the pizza was undercooked. I must put it into the over on 450 for a few minutes. Last Monday I ordered a 5 topping pizza. It took almost 2 hours for the driver to cruise up to my neighbors with his stereo on very loud rap music at 9pm. It was a plain cheese pizza, not the 5 topping I always order. So I called and said they were too busy to deliver the correct pizza but would send me a coupon for a free cheese pizza. I called 2 days laterand oke to the mmanager. A 5 topping undercooked doughy pizza was delivered but a very apologetic young lady. I told her it’s unprofessional for the other driver to wake up my neighbors. I did get the coupon for the free medium cheese pizza but will not order from Papa Johns after this experience.

one star bcuz delivery was quick. but the pizza was awful: cold, rubbery, tasteless. I usually stop for papa murphys but I’m stuck in a wheelchair temporarily so my only option is delivery. and what’s with the THREE DOLLAR DELIVERY CHARGE? ugh. and with chariot right down the street… I’m a dummy! didn’t papa johns used to be the best delivery pizza? it truly sucked. oh yeah, and don’t they have the garlic butter anymore? I didn’t get any, just a dried up pepper.

As I’ve said before, I hate downgrading a place, but I have to yet again. My husband and I were up late, hungry, and our only delivery options were subs or pizza. We ordered a thin crust pepperoni pizza and cheesebread from this Papa John’s. We ordered online and the given time was 30 minutes. An hour later the phone rings. The driver couldn’t find our place which was a first. We order delivery from several places, usually much earlier, and no driver has ever had a problem locating us. My husband gave the driver directions and we at last got our order. What a disappointment. I’m not a big fan of Papa John’s, I admit, but this was the worst pizza we’ve ever had. The pizza was ice cold and had no flavor at all. The crust was all right, but the sauce, cheese and pepperoni were absolutely tasteless. Apparently they forgot the garlic dipping sauce which might have added some flavor. The cheesebread would have been good if it was hot, but like the pizza it was ice cold. This is the last time we will patronize this restaurant, the next time we’re up late we’ll get subs!

The amount of stars is only for the delivery driver. I’ve had weird things happen, but this has to be a first. Let me explain:
I ordered a pizza plus two extra garlic butter sauce things. So I should get three total since one comes with the pizza. First of all I ordered online and it said that the pizza would be here between 33 – 43 minutes. An hour passed so I decided to call. The lady on the phone said that it should have said an hour to an hour and a half. I said no, no it didn’t. In any case the lady said my pizza was on the way.
The delivery driver came in, and I noticed that the box looked extremely greasy on one of the corners. He then said «I think one of your garlic cups blew up on the way here.» He set the box down and I opened it. Come to find out two of the three cups blew up and barely had anything left in either of them. I asked him what he is going to do about it since I paid for two extra ones. His response was. and I am not kidding… «well if you put whats left in both of them together you have one full one.»
Let that sink in a bit.
I said. «that doesn’t solve the problem since I should have three all together». He said he could go and get a couple other cups and come back. I said «no because it would take you another hour to come back». I proceeded to take the garlic buttered reciept out of his hands so I could sign. I don’t like to not tip even if I got horrible service, so I added just $ 1 to the bill, signed, and handed it back. He then looked at it, looked at me, and gave me this exasperated sigh, and walked off.
I took the buttered pizza and started eating the slices that survived the spill. the slices that were not soggy. I then decided to call and speak to the manager. I spoke to the shift manager and she couldn’t believe that he told me to put the two practically empty cups together. She said she would deal with him when he got back. She then spoke to the general manager and they said they would send me another pizza with butter cups that did not explode. Now I have an extra pizza that I can have for lunch at work. It really wasn’t about getting money back or another pizza since I had eaten what I could already. I just wanted them to know what their delivery driver said. But I did appreciate the way they handled the situation, and they get 5 stars. The delivery driver on the other hand. well. he gets –2 stars.

You can’t post a good review if you don’t even get their food. I ordered for a delivery a large 2 topping pizza and a 2L drink and asked them if they deliver to dorms, the guy said of course they did. I waited and waited. The order never came.
