No, they closed one of the best burrito places in Tucson!!! Such a shame, since they had really good burritos and were super close to my house. I will miss you Taco Urbano :(

I walked up to my favorite place in town yesterday to get that authentic Mexican Food made with passion and old family recipes. No place in town have I had a better experience. Well the doors are CLOSED for now. I understand they will swing OPEN again soon and a New Experience I will look forward too. My best to the Aguirre Family!

Heard about this New Mexican café Taco Urbano from a good friend of mine. Even before receiving my food I can tell it’s going to be great. The lady who took my order was really nice and attentive. Great fresh food. Will definitely be returning.

Really enjoyed this spot! Came in here randomly and had a really nice lunch of tacos rice and beans. The salsa bar is the best and I found the cute little nana making my food in the back absolutely charming! I will definitely be back!!!

Are you reading these reviews to determine if you want to give this Taco Urbano a try? Let me summarize their reviews before I start mine: YES. Located next to a Lucky Wishbone and Blackjack Pizza, Taco Urbano is a 7-month old establishment(at the time of this review) run by a brother and sister. They spent two decades working with their parents, who were also restaurant owners. How do I know this, you might ask? That’s where I get to say the first great thing about this place: amazing customer service! Friendly, professional, and thoughtful. I felt that«extra mile» approach which is a big plus in my book. The atmosphere is wonderful. They built most of the interior themselves and everything is colorfully designed. Of course we got the food to cover. I was slightly skeptical at first because it’s not your typical Sonora-style Mexican joint like many places are in Tucson. Don’t let that dissuade you! The food was a cooked with a mixture of love and awesomeness. It does take a bit to get your food, but that’s because they don’t make it until you order it. It is very fresh. Their food is great tasting and filling. They make sure that even the side dishes become a strong element to the meal. They don’t serve you the typical mexican rice. Add some salsa to it, and you have something mighty flavorful! Why yes, they do have a salsa bar! It is well-stocked and has all that you need to add extra flavor(or hotness if you prefer) to your meal. Don’t look at their overall stars to determine how good they are. It looks like a rating or two on this page are based on some disgruntled people who just didn’t like the fact they close at 6:00. They made the decision that they want to enjoy their nights and make lunches their thing. Many people have dinner around 5:00, and they are open for that hour. I almost forgot to mention their specials. They do in fact have daily specials. Check out their sign on the street or on the board inside the restaurant for the deal of the day. This place is already cheap, so this makes it even cheaper! Are you at the office right now reading Unilocal reviews to figure where you want to go for your lunch break? Are you like me who like to have early dinners and are in the mood to give a new place a try? Lucky for you and me, there is Taco Urbano.

I go here at least once a week. I have made it a point to try something different each time. I have yet to have something I did not enjoy. This is my favorite place for some quick QUALITY authentic Mexican food! Always great service as well.

This was our first visit to Taco Urbano, and we were definitely impressed. The restaurant is clean, has a delicious salsa bar, and the food was great. I ordered a veggie breakfast burrito with cheese and potato, my husband had the nachos. Both were served quickly and with fresh ingredients. I especially loved the hot salsa– well seasoned and delicious! We will definitely be back.

We frequented this place for several weeks after opening and I must say they have some of the best beans and rice I’ve ever had. Not as authentic as some other places but their lunch special is hard to beat. This is a great place if you’re looking for a burrito or street tacos. Their tortas are huge too. I’m a little disappointed that they close after 6 but I guess it is a lunch place. Overall, good little mexican food shop, try it.

My current favorite casual lunch stop. Service and food are excellent. Tita the owner who runs the front and her brother who works the kitchen make a great pair. Specials every day only add to a very reasonably priced fair. Do yourself a treat and stop by for lunch.

Husband, my toddler and I were running some errands around this part of town, and one of the stores we wanted to go wasn’t open yet. We figure, let’s have an early lunch and the store should be open when we’re done. First time in this restaurant, and the lady at the counter was very friendly and personable. She talked about the different things on the menu, and instantly I wanted the cabeza burrito when I saw it. Unfortunately, they said they were still making it and it’d take another 45 minutes to finish(their shipment was late). You know how when you really want something and you can’t have it, no matter what the second choice is, you won’t be as excited for it as your first choice. Not craving for anything else, I ended up getting a egg, cheese and spinach burrito thinking to myself«eh, I can share this with my daughter.» Hubby got the birria burrito. I was actually pleasantly surprised with it. Nice and fluffy eggs, lots of spinach, and you can taste the cheese in every bite. I’m a light weight when it comes to heat, so I thought some of their salsas may be to hot for me. I didn’t try the birria, but my husband was satisfied with his meal. The service is what stuck out to me. Excellent. My daughter accidentally had some hot salsa my husband had, and the lady in the counter was kind enough to give us some sugar and lemons to help cool her mouth. My daughter also made a mess, and they don’t have a bathroom in the restaurant(you have to go outside and around the building). The lady again, was very helpful, coming out with wet paper towels so I can clean her off. I would definitely come back again, and hopefully I can try their cabeza next time.

As a vegetarian who loves her tacos, this place is good! You can get Veggie Tacos or Bean and Cheese Tacos. You can either hard tacos or soft corn tacos. And if you do not want tacos, you can get burritos, enchiladas, torta, nachos, and chimichangas! I got 2 Veggie Tacos with Cabbage. There is an option to have lettuce instead of cabbage but I like cabbage in my tacos. The veggie tacos are definitely delicious! It had rice, beans, cheese, and cabbage. I added a little lime and hot sauce. I am definitely coming here for lunch again!

NOTE: They currently close at 6PM, which is fine, because this is a lunch kinda place. I’d been watching from across the street while Taco Urbano moved in, hopeful that they would be bringing some good tacos to this area. Today is the day I checked it out. Maria(owner) greeted me warmly and mentioned the daily special of two shredded beef or red chile tacos. It was not a bad deal, as you received rice and beans, plus a drink for around $ 1.00 more than just two tacos a la carte. She allowed me to substitute carne asada for the shredded beef(shhh! don’t tell her I told you) and I went with the flour tortillas. Side note: the interior is very bright and colorful inside. The salsa bar had some really tasty pico-de-gallo-lookin’ stuff that was super fresh. I did notice a lack of guacamole, but that was okay with me, I can manage! I got the usual pickled carrots w/jalapenos to start my meal off, and the tacos came out pretty quickly(I was the only person in there). The beans and rice were a step up from your usual re-fried beans/mexican rice, with what seemed to be a bit of added seasoning/a little flavor, 3.5÷5 for these two items. The tacos were awesome! They came out with just carne asada on a bed of shredded cabbage(I think it was cabbage), and I added cucumber and a bit of pico de gallo. IF you have never had carne asada with fresh cucumber, I HIGHLY recommend that you try this. Don’t forget the pico, as the tomato/onion/garlic adds some spice and extra dimension to the taco. Overall, I would give this place a solid 4⁄5. I hope that you all will give this fresh new taco place a shot for lunch and welcome them to the area!

My first time into this brand new restaurant and it was a pretty good experience. I had the lunch special which was both well-priced and tasty. I liked the salsa bar which was small but had good choices — just lacking a very spicy variety. My shredded beef tacos were very greasy but most of that drained right out onto the plate. Rice and beans were good, too. Sole complaint was the wait time. It wasn’t busy, so I assume they have a very small staff and won’t be able to handle busier times. They’re also not open very late for this part of town.
