Sears Optical

Horrible experience. Had to send the glasses back twice and still couldn’t see out of them. Also cant see distance with the contacts. Can’t get my money back… over $ 500 bucks. And on top of that… they screwed up my vision plan and now I can’t get replacements from somewhere else. I also can’t get any help from their staff and really why shpuld they care. They already have my money and the money from my vision plan.
Sears Optical has created a situation where I have to wear my old outdated prescription for another year… and do you know whose fault that is? Mine, for going there in the first place. Lesson learned.

I went to Sears because my vision insurance was covered and the frames seemed the best to fit my face. Tried on a number for frames and settled on a pair. I was told it would take 10 days (unlike Pearle and Lenscrafter’s 1 hr.) to get get prescription. The evening before the scheduled appointment, I got a call saying the glasses were not in. On the nest day, I received a call the glasses were in. The optician tried to fit the glasses and left smudges and fingerprints all over the lenses. The glass case case was the cheapest you could ever imagine. No cleaning cloth. Not an very good experience. Will spend more $$$ next time to get a high experience better experience.

I’m hard on glasses. I stepped on, and destroyed a good pair in merely a few months. Since my vision insurance wouldn’t kick in for another year I went to another place where I thought I could get a 2-​fer deal. Big mistake. Terrible glasses. Bad prescription. I needed some glasses, period. I made an appointment online with Sears Optical at Southcenter and that was easy. During my appointment they gook good care of me and the doctor, I believe his name was Dr. Vo, interacted with me to diagnose exactly what I needed my glasses for. When it came time for frame selection I was pleased. It’s not easy finding frames for my fat head. 10 days later I had my new glasses. Been wearing them all week at work and they’re spectacular. Best pair I’ve had in years. Dr. Vo and ChinLee were excellent and met my needs. I’m pleased. 5 stars.

The first time I came here was back in June 2013, along with me recent visit, I’ve had exceptional customer service. The doctor was super helpful and understands the importance of having the right prescription, etc. These are peoples’ eye sites, eye doctors are dealing with — Comparing this to a couple other ‘big name/​turn them and burn them’ type of companies, which I’ve had awful experiences. Not only are the appointments are a short wait, the Dr. takes time to find the right size of lenses & correct prescription, he’s knowledgeable, they are efficient in keeping my records on file, and let me trade in contact lenses for the correct size. I feel like they genuinely care about their customers vs. larger places that lose your information card/​file and can’t remember that you were in there 2 days earlier for your appointment. The women running the front office are very friendly and for being a smaller firm, they manage the place very well.
The selection of glasses is so-​so, however, they seem to have good specials. I would highly recommend this place for anyone.

I needed an emergency exam, on a Sunday. No Optometrists that I could find were open on Sunday. The only place I could find was Sears Optical. Dr. Holcomb was great. Very professional, and explained what was going on with my eyes thoroughly. I probably never would have thought to go to Sears’ Optometrist, but I’m actually really glad that I did because I think I’m going to go there from now on. I highly recommend them.

The staff was mostly nice and it was cheap, but I will never ever come back. I was given the wrong prescription and spent a year not being able to see very well. The eye exam room is very tiny and doesn’t really give you an idea of what your far sighted vision is really like. I was told that I was given a weak prescription because that’s all I needed, when I insisted I couldn’t see out «in the real world», they acted like I was lying. I would rather spend the money and go to Spex in the City where they know what they’re doing.

Everything went well at first, I like Sears and I wanted to use their optical department to fill my prescription, I chose my frames and placed the order. It takes 10 – 12 days for delivery, but my delivery date came and went and I never heard from anyone. Finally got a call that my order had arrived so I came to pick up the glasses only to discover they had made a mistake and the prescription was wrong. They needed to re-​order and it would be another 10 days. Mistakes happen, but stay in touch with your customer if there is a delay, and most importantly, apologize when you are in error. No excuse for poor custom service.
