Hands down best Poke Bowl I’ve eaten anywhere so far. I only get a large though because the small and medium size bowls are tiny. The large is $ 15 but worth the extra $$ because the portion size is great. I do love the sushi rolls at this place to but I mainly come for the poke. The flavor in superior.

Tommy’s sushi has hand’s down the best poke bowl in Orange County! We tried poki bowls from many many place, and still like Tommy’s the most. We haven’t been to Tommy’s for about 3 months. Now they have a brand new menu. Poki bowl is still there, but they got rid of all the dinner combos. Now they have the standard 2 or 3 items dinner combo, as well as omakase sushi. Poki Bowl(medium) | $ 11 Always gotta get the classic Poki Bowl at Tommy’s. Big chunks of tuna, salmon, albacore, with octopus, avocado, cucumber and crab salad over sushi rice. Remember to request the special hot sauce from the waitress to go with the Poki Bowl. Tommy’s Combo — Beef Teriyaki & Salmon Cheek | $ 15 We also got a Tommy’s Combo to share. You can choose two items out of 9 choices. We picked beef teriyaki and salmon cheek. The combo also comes with miso soup, rice, salad, vegetable egg roll and sesame chicken. The salmon cheek was fatty and tasty. It tasted delicious withe ponzu sauce. Beef teriyaki was slightly overcooked so not as tender as we like. A lot of food in this combo and we got really full. California Roll |$ 5 We also got a California roll. I wish there was more avocado in the roll. They got rid of a few of our old favorites from the menu. We would still come back for their poki bowl for sure. But we are not too excited about their new menu though.

Sad It used to be my favorite hole in the wall Japanese place. I have been coming for over 30 years and you could not beat the Tommy’s Special.(Tempura, chicken and beef Teriyaki, and then you had a choice of one more entrée. You also got rice, soup and salad. I never cared for the salad but the soup was outstanding. Having lived in Japan for 2 years I enjoyed the employees as well. The people are the same, the soup is the same, but the dinner special went up in price and you get to pick 2 entrée’s. I used to leave with a small lunch for the next day, Wednesday I left a little hungry. I explained to the owner my disappointment and he said they were trying to figure things out with the new menu.(It was one week old). I hope they do as it is overpriced for what you get.

WTF Happened??? The food is still good as always but REALLY? They took down all the odd ball décor for a stupid mural of the ocean. How freaking original… That atmosphere was one of the reasons we love(d) Tommys. Even more than that. Where is Jim??? If anyone knows, please reply with where he’s working now. The other chefs are great, don’t get me wrong but Jim is our guy. Sorry Tommys. We won’t be back as often. Paint over that ridiculous mural back to what it was and put the wood cups back. Whoever made that decision has no imagination. If I wanted poor taste I’d go to RA. Might as well now. I want to reiterate that the food is still great and the chefs are a well. It’s just been like home since I started taking my wife there for the past 10 years. These are changes that should have been left alone.

Tried the poke bowl and some pieces of sushi. Toro and tuna was in their recommended board but not very good. Maybe the place isn’t a high end sushi joint but it was not that great. Prices are reasonable and maybe their rolls are good but I’m reviewing on what we had.

I come here for the poki(poke?) bowls which are solid. You can call in an order and pick it up 15 minutes later. And the quality is better than your normal poke bowl only establishments. Yes, it’s the same owners as Pokinometry, but Tommy’s is better quality and more filling. More expensive too. But they make up for it with generous portions of tuna, salmon, yellowtail, squid, imitation crab, and seaweed salad over white rice. Comes with their dynamite sauce(mayo based) and a spicy ponzu-ish sauce. I prefer the latter.

Man, their sushi bar must be popular. There’s a line specifically for the sushi bar(will have to try it next time). To-go’d a couple items: poke bowl and a combination. Poke bowl medium is super tiny. It’s more like a small than a medium. I can’t even imagine how small the small must be. It’s kind of expensive, considering that the medium comes in the small to go container. The fish are fresh and good, but it’s just expensive… guess can’t complain too much since all the other poke bowl places around Tustin/Irvine aren’t that great. Combination came with tempura, beef & chicken teriyaki, and sashimi(picked sashimi over the chicken). Tempura is a bit on the oily side… kind of like old oil. Beef and chicken teriyaki is okay. Too much sauce for my liking; an overkill. Sashimi(salmon and tuna) was good. Overall, the food is good and seems pretty busy during dinner time. For birthdays, I think they bring out a dessert with a candle on it.

I ordered the medium poki bowl and salmon skin roll to go during lunch today. The salmon skin roll was on point and totally hit the spot. Unfortunately, my poki bowl was terrible. The first few bites were fine but then I started noticing a foul stench, it was almost as if the fish was bad? I mixed up the bowl a bit more and even my avocado was blackened :( I have a rather sensitive stomach so I didn’t want to take the chance and finish. I’m kind of disappointed…

Finally tried this place for my first time. My coworker went and picked it up for to-go. It was good, i had the medium poke bowl with salad and the sesame chicken. It was realllly good. however, i probably should have had the rice than the salad. Towards the end– the texture was messing with me a bit. Started making me feel a little yuck. im a texture person– it must have been the crab mix at the bottom of the salad. I will definitely order it with rice the next time. However, it was a good meal and i’d have it again.

Best poke bowl ever! This is the only thing I order here and it does not disappoint. They now have different sizes of their poke bowls to accommodate your appetite. I absolutely love the Japanese table booths they have.

Of all the places which serve Poke, Tommy’s Sushi is my ULTIMATE favorite. Whenever I’m in Tustin visiting a friend, I have to come here. I always use this place as my standard. I’ll admit this plaza is difficult to find. It’s not too far from Gen. They have a dark/nautical interior theme, but don’t worry. The servers check up on you. I believe medium size is the base. Go for the larger size if you’re über hungry. Ask for the DYNAMITESAUCE for that kick. Price point is pretty decent for the portion and quality. They have the mixture of all assorted seafood and condiments you could think of. I’m so glad that they don’t cheat you with a large bed of rice, unlike some spots. There’s a rumor that the owners of Tommy’s Sushi are the same people who opened Pokinometry in Anaheim.

Where do I start about Tommy’s. This place is a glimpse into what sushi used to be, and hopefully always will be. If you are coming here to get a big fancy roll, or Poki Bowl, you are missing what Edomae sushi is all about. I come here for the Sushi. If you want to focus on traditional, very authentic old school sushi — this is some of the best I’ve had on the west coast, I’d say best in OC at least.

I found this place on Unilocal & I’m a big fan of sushi & Poki Bowls(everyone talks so highly about their Poki Bowls) so I definitely had to give this place a try. It was a little bit difficult to find, because I went at night and the door to enter is kind of tucked in behind all the other stores in the same plaza. Honestly, it was really good quality fish and everything tasted great overall… but I felt that the price was a little bit too high for what you were getting :/

My aunt won a bet and I owed her dinner. She was telling me what they had that was good there so I said let’s go since you won. When we got there(on a Monday night) no one was around to help us so we just stood around trying try find help. Someone was ringing up a bill and my aunt yelled Hi to her and accidentally scared her while she was looking in her little mirror she had hanging at the register so she didn’t have to turn around. My aunt raves about the miso soup here and how flavorful it is so we got that but then from there on out, everything that she wanted, they didn’t have because it ran out! So they gave us edamame on the house for the inconvenience. I had the bento box with sukiyaki. I was actually surprise with the amount of food that came out for the price and that the sukiyaki came out in soup form. The tempura was crunchy, the chicken was moist, the salad was refreshing but I didn’t have a chance to try the sukiyaki so I asked for a To go box. She said she didn’t have one for soups and gave me a traditional square box. Needless to say, it spilled ALL over the bag. They should really invest in a cylindrical containers for soups if they’re planning on serving sukiyaki in that manner. I would come again to try their poke bowls because everyone raves about it but let’s see if I remember when I’m craving for it

Just remember, it’s the wooden door located in the corner. It took me 10 minutes to find it the first time. They have some pretty killer stuff for great prices. A great value, if you will. Things that I’ve had that I love: — Grilled Yellowtail Collar(cheek) — Uni Shooter(Oyster is good, too) — Stuffed Orange(salmon sushi stuffed with scallops and ponzu) — Poke Bowl(dynamite sauce optional) Other than that, I think the tuna avocado roll is pretty decent and the cucumber paradise is good but I do like my rice. Most of the fish is pretty fresh and standard stuff. So where did that last star go? My first opinion of this place was«how can I trust their fish when they can’t even have a proper interior?». Well, that thought went away after my first bite, but they do need to redecorate! Everything feels old and run down.

Heard a lot about the poke bowls here, and I suppose I should have tried that instead of the sushi but — THISREVIEWISABOUTTHESUSHIONLY. I thought the fresh was fine for a Sunday night dinner, the spicy tuna roll is different(and I highly recommend that). It is an actual slice of tuna wrapped in the traditional rice and seaweed. I say it’s different because, so often you get chopped up pieces of left over tuna from many fillets, this was nice that they actually gave you a full ‘block” of tuna instead of the mix. The sushi rice on the nigiri is interesting — maybe we should have sat at the sushi bar to experience warm rice and real nigiri, but it was just bland and not uniform. Some pieces were falling apart before I could eat it, others were just packed with rice. I think for the price, it’s a fair restaurant, but I’ll spend the money to dine at Shunka in Costa Mesa any day.

Has become one of my #1 locations for a really good poke bowl! Tommy’s poke bowl really hits the spot. If you like spicy, the dynamite sauce gives it excellent flavor and kick. It was $ 9 for small, $ 11 for medium, and $ 15 for large. If you’re really hungry or have a great appetite for sushi like I always do, stick with the large bowl. The medium bowl is a decent size otherwise. It has chunks of salmon and tuna, and possibly another type in that bowl too! I like that it has more than the standard tuna. The fish tastes soft and fresh; as opposed to some places that mask the poorer quality of fish by just drowning it in poke sauce. Tip: Tommy’s Sushi is in the weirdest location so if it’s your first time coming here, finding it might be a bit of a challenge. It’s in the Tustin Village plaza, but tucked away in a little corner with an odd door that makes it looks like they’re not open for business. I noticed when we came at night they didn’t have their sign lit up. Thank goodness for Unilocal; otherwise I would never have known about these tasty poke bowls :)

Good quality sushi that I would recommend to anyone. The salmon nigiri is sooo fresh, consistently every time I go there! I’m not a huge fan of raw fish, but at this place I am! Also ordered the unagi nigiri and that was warm, so I could tell it was prepared fresh. Crunch roll was also good but I felt like tonight it had a bit too much sweet sauce. Lastly, I ordered the Tommy’s Special bento box. Surprisingly a good amount of food for the price. Only criticism I’d give is that they were slow on brining the sushi. I bet they were busy so that’s why it took long but thought I’d mention that.

Probably my favorite place for Japanese poke. Get medium $ 11! Small is like half of the water cup, which is TINY. Want to spice up the bowl? Ask for their dynamite sauce. Super bomb! ** They only open at 5pm Saturday and Sunday

On my most recent visit with roommate we both ordered the medium poke bowl and again it was delicious! I can’t get enough of the dynamite sauce. The medium bowl is $ 11 which is a great price for quality and size. The large is $ 15, I’ll have to try it some day! I’ve never had the other items since I usually get full from just my one bowl! The service is good the hosts and waiters are nice and accommodating.
