Place from way-back-when and still with that middle-of-nowhere oasis appeal. Our cashier was clearly a local, gave us a brief history of the establishment. My parents got chocolate malts while I settled for a kid’s size half-and-half(not a twist!). This consists of 1. A waffle cone 2. Chocolate soft serve on the bottom 3. Vanilla soft serve on the top 4. Rainbow sprinkles! Chocolate wasn’t as creamy as vanilla — maybe a touch too frozen/icy– but still amazing. She fed me so much that she included a cup too. ;) Go here if you’re in Joshua Tree or Twentynine Palms for a short visit. Will be worth your dollars!

The food is good but the service is horrible. They pick and choose who they will serve and when. Lines mean nothing to these people. Was waiting in line to place and order and a crowd came it. The server recognized one of the people in the crowd and served them first making everyone else wait. Won’t go there again and would recommend no one else goes there until the current help is fired.

With this place around, I’m not even mad that there is no DQ or Baskin Robins in 29. I’ve ordered almost everything that contains ice cream on the menu and never disappointed. Great spot for an after dinner sweet tooth.

This is a really good place to stop for a milkshake on your trip to(or from) Joshua Tree.

Good place to stop on a hot day, which is quite often in 29 Palms. Had a great selection and service was quick. With the limited selection in the area this is a gem in the rough.

Locally owned establishment that has been a staple for many years. Always great food, exactly the way I ask for it. And trust me, I’m picky. They have made improvements over the years to this historic building and always are gracious that you decided to come in for lunch, dinner or just an ice cream cone. I will continue to go for a cheeseburger, fries with fry sauce and a banana split with chocolate ice cream!

Not a fan of the fast food, typical greasy spoon stuff. However, the ice cream is great and a great way to combat the hot desert life. It’s a hidden gem — not on the main drag — and so worth stopping at on a hot day!

I see a lot of reviews say that this place is «clean» and it is definitely not. Very old building with outside bathrooms that don’t need a key(first hint). The ice cream is excellent though and I put my snob attitude aside and go here all the time. Highly recommend their ice cream if your in the area. I’ve never had their food, so I can’t review that part. Workers are nice, but its easy to feel uncomfortable because of how old the building/kitchen is.

This is like the only ice cream place out here. I just wanted a good milkshake. It was okay.

Great staff, great ice cream… only one star drawback… they let folks smoke on the patio right by the entrance. bleah! We have only had their ice cream, but I saw an order of their French fries come out and it took everything in me not to ask for a sample!!! Huge serving, perfectly prepared… mmm…next time!

An oasis of Ice Cream in the desert, but not without lunch first! The kids meals are awesome and you cant beat the service. Super clean restrooms. No key needed!

The best! A MUST stop by. Kerry’s the best. Thank you kindly. Spicy chicken sandwich was delicious, and came out fast. The dipped chocolate is something special.

I ordered a blizzard thing. I don’t remember what they are called there, but it had Oreos in it, you get my point. So anyway, the ice cream itself was ok and bland. it wasn’t blended good most of the Oreo cookie pieces was at the bottom and when we got to the bottom it wasn’t much down there either. So, beware, they are pretty stingy with Oreo cookie. Make sure you bring cookies with you … I would not pay extra for more cookie crumbs. Oh yea, AND it is over priced!

We’ve been driving right by this place for years on our way to and from Las Vegas. Finally made the stop and really glad we did. We arrived and were warmly welcomed by a very friendly lady. Ordered a Hot Fudge Sundae and a small Soft Serve come, both were excellent. Will return.

Service is great! Restaurant is very clean and the décor is like going back to the old days. The food is excellent! Yummy ice cream too. I highly recommend this a good place to go eat and just chill awhile.

I’ve gone twice and always get the triple berry parfait with hot fudge. The ice cream is a pale yellow color vs the sugary white stuff you’d get at most dinky ice cream places. Leads me to believe it’s real ice cream, minus the preservatives to make it look pretty. The berries are super tangy but probably pre-frozen. The parfait itself is 4.59 which is kind of spendy but I’ve never been able to finish it because you get a lot of ice cream in a sturdy plastic cup. One star off because the place really needs a good cleaning. The old building with its old paint from the 70s or whatever is only cute for so long. Sitting at the tables makes me feel like I need to take a shower when I get home. At least the cooking area looks very clean. My husband got a burger called the Island-something I think, and I remember it tasting pretty good for a burger at an ice cream joint. I still think I’d prefer a Dairy Queen over this, but it could be worse. It could be a lot worse… so it’s pretty good for being out in 29 Palms!

During my two and a half year stint in this place they call a town I came to Foster’s Freeze a few times. I learned a couple things in my infrequent visits. 1.) The food isn’t that great. Sure it makes you feel like you’ve eaten but that’s about it. 2.) The treats ARE great. Get a shake or malt and you’ll be a happy camper! 3.) If you drop $ 60 on the floor. Some a$$hole will pocket it and not say a word to you! 4.) The service is hit or miss. Typically not too bad but every now and then crappy. Keeping all this in mind I’d come in every time I drive through town for a giant malt of choice. They have so many flavors it makes it hard to decide. Before you think I’ve judged the food too harshly keep in mind where you are! 29 Palms isn’t known for it’s culinary treats and fantastic food! This place under delivers like the rest of the town. Stick with the cold side of the menu and you can’t really go wrong unless you order something you don’t like intentionally.
