King Kitchen

Reopened with new owners and it was better than before. Chicken with pineapple fried rice was good and the egg rolls are awesome.

We saw their flyer in the lobby of the motel 6 when we checked in. We were hungry & tired and could hear some unsavory folk outside our hotel door, so we opted for delivery from this spot. The food came hot, sodas were cold, and fortune cookies were plentiful. I was happy with the sweet/​sour pork, chicken lo mein, and teriyaki beef. The only reason I took off a star was we paid cash, and I did tell the lady on the phone that we were paying cash. They said nothing about having exact change. (I spent 3 years delivering pizza for Pizza Hut so I know how it is important to tell callers stuff like this). Driver came and we ended up having to tip $ 8 on a $ 32 bill because she supposedly had no change. It was only about 3 bucks more than we would have given, so we just forked it all over. Hunger and fatigue provoke rash decisions sometimes. Would I eat here again? Absolutely! Would I use delivery service again? Yessiree, Bob. Indeedy. I will just whip out my handy dandy Unilocal app and hopefully remind myself of having exact change.

Appealing because they deliver but that’s about it. They said it would be to me in 20 minutes. I called an hour later and she sounded confused and asked me to call back in 5 minutes. Then it was delivered but the order was wrong. When I called I got Top 100 and they told me to call back and hopefully kings kitchen would answer the phone (they are owned by the same company) so I called back and got kings kitchen. When I told them they got the order wrong she told me she’d call me back in 5 minutes but hasn’t happened yet. But no I’m sorry for the wait (except for the driver) or I’m sorry we got your order wrong. Just confusion and call back/we’ll call you back. Obviously they don’t run very efficiently! The food we did get was OK. Kind of bland and the rice was a bit underdone but edible. Don’t waste your time or your money here.
Oh wow. It gets better. They finally called me back and insist they got the order right! We ordered lemon chicken and we received fried battered fish with a lemon sauce on the side. They said that was how it was supposed to be served. I explained that it was fish but not chicken we received and I asked if their chicken tasted like fish and was flaky like fish and she said she knew what chicken tasted like. Wtf? So if you want flaky fishy chicken come to King kitchen!

First time trying King Kitchen since moving to 29. My food was very bland and lacking in any type of discernible vegetable. It was bean sprouts and shredded white lettuce. That is NOT chicken chow mein. To add insult to injury I got extremely sick from the chicken and went to the ER that night. My spouse had one bite of my chicken and even felt iffy from it. Will not go there again.

I would recommend eating at China Kitchen… Good food, good service, clean restaurant and… they deliver!
My husband and I stopped randomly at this place on our way to Joshua Tree National Park for the weekend. While my husband went in to order– I researched it on google/​Yelp for reviews… I saw one that basically said don’t waste your time with this place, only the drinks are good… so I was skeptical when my husband came back to the car raving about «what nice people they were inside»… So I decided to show him the review I had found… He said «well, if the food tastes okay & I don’t get sick the next day… You’re going to write a review for them» … So fast forward to us sitting in our hotel room eating beef lo mein which was delicious!!! Understand that my husband grew up on Chinese food so I’d trust his judgement. Fast forward next day… We felt totally fine… So the only reason I’m not giving this place a 5 star rating is because we didn’t eat inside China kitchen for the full experience but it looks simple & clean.
