I had crab cakes and fried shrimp. The crab cakes were awesome! The food was actually good, which is why I gave 4 stars. I wish this app allowed 3 ½ stars because that’s what it deserves– part of going out to dinner is enjoying the service– which is lacking. However, I went during off season. So I don’t know if the service is better during summer, when there are a lot of tourists. I sat at the bar and the bartender was not happy and expressed it several times-not a shiny happy person! She served the locals first, then took my order. There was a change in shift, so the oncoming bartender was more attentive. Don’t come here expecting great service.

First place we actually ate on our trip. I had the steak fajita wrap. The Mrs. Ordered the blackened shrimp wrap but received the chicken fajita wrap instead. Didn’t wanna have to wait for the correction so just dealt with it. The wraps were pretty good and I did really like the spuds. Service was average and our waitress was not too good or friendly. This place does honor the Savannah Epass if you get that. Overall the food was good and service could’ve been an off day. However, getting an order correct is the business of a restaurant so I rated 3.

Great fried chicken fingers. Get the ranch or your special sauce of your choice for a compliment. Spuds are a must which are potatoes fried in the chicken batter but somewhat crispy like potato chips but with a soft texture in the center. Great with ranch dressing!

Recommended as the restaurant to try on the Tybee Island Strand. Very convenient location to parking and great food. Peel and eat shrimp appetizer was lightly seasoned and their cocktail sauce had just a little kick. I ordered fettuccine which was OK. My sisters ordered the scallops — one blackened, one seared. Both raved that the scalps were perfectly prepared. Also restaurant was a little warm.

Visiting for Labor Day weekend! Drinking at the bar next door(tybee time; must try) got hungry, went next door to this place, made an order to go and they brought it right over. Decently priced but super fresh! Get the chicken tenders with honey mustard and the hot crab dip!

Went here on out first night on the island. My family and I all had a good time and enjoyed our dinner. Three of us had the Spanky burger with the Spanky spuds. Please do try the spuds they are the . My younger sister had the wrap and her boyfriend had the chicken fingers. The portions are big come hangry.

I’d choose the Arby’s on the corner before I’d EVER go to Spanky’s again. AVOID!!! 1 star only because I had to. Let’s start at the entrance. No one acknowledged our party of 3 or the other party behind us. The Hostess was also bussing tables, ignored us, walked towards us twice and never once made eye contact until she was ready to seat us. Once seated, ordered meals and appetizers. Apps of cheese & hot bread i.e. Tostitos cheese dip & sliced Italian bread &2 yes a whopping appetizer of 2 mushy, tasted as if they’d ben frozen crab cakes. Honestly I’d have been embarrassed to bring the sad little things to the table much less charge for them. Waitress comes out to say, my daughter had to pick something else because at 3 on a Monday they were out of shrimp. I’m looking at the ocean & they’re out of shrimp. My daughter makes another selection, time passes my daughters quesadilla comes out. The server(no sign of our waitress) asks(as 2 of us sit there WITHNOFOOD) if there’s anything we needed. I replied, our other meals. More time passes… more time… finally our waitress graces us with her presence and asks(I kid you not), «can I get you anything else?» WESTILLDON’T HAVEOURFOOD. I had to chase her down 5 minutes later only to again ask about our food she didn’t know we hadn’t got. Seriously? So 30 minutes in, horrible service, mushy crab cakes, Tostitos cheese dip & laughable incompetence later we put $ 10 on the table and left. This isn’t the first or second time. I’ve given Spanky’s 3 chances. Third strike you’re out. Never again.

Great place! Our service was a little slow but we got sat in the bar area. So the server was serving the bar and us. She made up for it with her great personally. The food came out SUPER fast and piping hot. I had the chicken fingers and they did not disappoint. They were so good! Also had the hot crab dip with was awesome too. And it comes with colorful chips. Definitely a beach eatery, very relaxed and informal.
The chicken tenders and spuds were really good. Basically everything on the menu was fried but it was still really good!

It was ok that our waiter apologized for something every time he came to our table even when it was unwarranted. It was ok that it took 20 minutes to get our first round of drinks. We were a party of 9 and the restaurant was about half full. It was ok that it took 5 times and several different people from our party reminding our waiter to bring us water. We received them and of course the waiter apologized profusely. It was ok that a few of our orders came out wrong. The manager made sure to correct it right away. The food we received was tasty and everyone seemed pleased with their meals. It was ok that many, many tables received food, came and went as we waited for our drinks and food to arrive. However… It was not ok that our waiter wasn’t able to come back for our to go order even though we asked to place it well before we were done with our meals so it would be ready to go when we were finished. And it is completely UNACCEPTABLE that our waiter took our credit card and charged us with someone else’s bill! When we asked why we were charged an incorrect amount, he said that wasn’t true and he hadn’t charged us for the to go order so that was the difference in price. We had the slip and knew that wasn’t the case, and besides, the to go order was more than the discrepancy. That’s like server 101. You don’t do that, and if you do, you apologize. But ironically, that was the one time he didn’t. I was so pissed off that he made up a lie and tried to b*llsh*t his way out of it that I am writing this review. We actually tried Spanky’s on the River in Savannah for their chicken fingers, and honestly all of the food there was better. The fingers were tastier and juicier, and the spuds were crisp and hot. And our bill came out correctly charged. And we got immediate service. Skip Spanky’s on Tybee Island. Eat at another of their locations and try Spanky’s on River St in Savannah.

Service was great. Our waiter was very attentive. It’s a restaurant on the beachfront with great service and food. Its mostly bar food but I had left overs, took them home and they were still good.

Stopped by this little place while on Tybee Island last Friday. The atmosphere was pretty cool, laid back and food wasn’t bad. I had the shrimp platter(seasoned very well), salad, and their double baked potato half which I believe was called a stuffy potato(now this was very good just not a lot of potatoe). Oh lets not forget my Long Island which had me feeling right when I was walkin up out of there. Right on the beach! I’ll be back Spanky’s!

Attentive service! Loved the fried chicken fingers-super meaty-with honey mustard. The blackened grouper sandwich was also the bomb! The peel shrimp was meaty and delicious. The colorful tortillas with the crab dip were beautiful. Loved their assortment of craft beers and they’re cheap!!!

The food was so-so. But I didn’t expect much from a bar. The service on the other hand was awful! Since when is it okay for the entire staff to sit at a table and eat while occasionally getting up to check their tables. Just so unprofessional.

Great fried food. Love everything I’ve eaten here. All of their sauces are homemade and delicious. Salads are great and spuds are awesomely greasy. Unfortunately their customer service is crap. We come to Tybee several times a year, and no matter what, we always wait at least 30 minutes for food. So be prepared to wait. Also, if your whole party isn’t all together, you won’t be seated. I understand why they do this, but if a few people want to head up to the beach and grab a table, you can’t. Their prices and food are good, but their host and servers could use an attitude adjustment. Even a smile would go a long way.

Beach food without any flair. OK I know beach food is bland and expensive but when they offer peel and eat shrimp as an app but only do fried(even after a request) for the entrée… Well that’s just lazy. Big plus, you get to kill roaches as you wait for your food. See pic of one I got 2′ from my table.

We stopped at Spanky’s our second night, since we’d already been to Fannie’s. We snagged a spot on the upstairs open air deck, which made us very happy. Something about being able to see the ocean while you drink is very relaxing. We were in the mood for a slow dinner, which seemed to throw off our waitress, but she was super sweet every time we told her we weren’t quite ready to order our entrees yet. We shared the crab dip, which was hot and creamy and delicious! It came out with very bright multi-colored chips that we were pretty sure were 90% food coloring, but were SO much better than Fannie’s strange pita chips that there were no complaints. We also split Neptune’s platter, which we got with all of the seafood options. It came with a baked potato and a salad, which were good. It was big, but not so much that we were stuffed. Good to share between two people, but definitely with an appetizer as well, at the very least. I thought Fannie’s food was good until I had Spanky’s. The blackened mahi, scallops, and shrimp were really well done and delicious. Overall, we had a good time here and would come back. It didn’t blow us away, with the exception of the tasty crap dip, but it is an excellent option.

Don’t come here when you’re in a hurry. The first time I went there, the service was decently fast and the food was pretty good. Spuds are excellent and the chicken fingers were good. The next time, we waited to be seated for about 15 or so minutes while about 4 tables were open. Not to mention being completely neglected by the waitress for a good 30 minutes when we did get sat down. We waited so long we just went elsewhere for food. The place as a whole is not clean, the floors are constantly dirty and a lot of built up dust on the pipes above you among other things. It’s in a great location, with great potential it’s just ran by people with no experience and no handle on the restaurant as a whole.
