Loved the outside seating area. We went for a light meal. We split a dozen oysters and I got lobster and crab bisque as well. The oysters had no flavor compared to the NC oysters I’m used to. The bisque was good. Service was fine, but nothing spectacular.

Meh, it was OK. Waitress however, was a 10. She was so good she made up for my tuna being regular versus blackened, our finds low country boil having excess spice in it versus none at all. It was average but in the context of what it is, it was fine. This isn’t some high end seafood joint, it’s a local divey type seafood restaurant. My wife’s Cajun Mahi tacos we very good and the hush puppies were also really good.

My boyfriend and I stopped in for lunch while visiting the Tybee Lighthouse. I had asked one of the girls at the gift shop if they were going to eat seafood, where would they go personally and they said Sting Ray’s. And since we were on the coast, I definitely wanted seafood. We arrived but weren’t sure if the hostess stand was for outside or inside. We wanted to sit inside since it was cold and windy but there wasn’t a hostess. I think the server was the server and hostess for the whole restaurant? After waiting a few minutes, we decided to step inside at which time the one server I saw had just left a table and walked by us and greeted us. With a friendly smile she said we could sit wherever we wanted inside and she would bring us menus. Even though she was busy, our server was nice and friendly and always apologized if there was a longer delay in between her visits to our table. But she kept checking on us with smiles and friendly chatter and we never had an empty glass so her service was excellent in our book! I order the«Stingshooter» which was just an oyster shot made with Absolut Peppar vodka but you got to keep their signature shot glass afterwards which is why I ordered it — I collect shot glasses from places I visit. They also had two beers on the menu that they donate to the military and their families, which is why my boyfriend selected one. That was definitely pretty cool of them. We chose the steamed seafood platter and a side of hush puppies to substitute for the side of cole slaw and corn that the dish normally comes with. And I ordered the lobster and crab bisque as an appetizer before the meal. The soup was excellent! I loved it and could’ve ate another bowl of it. The seafood platter that came out was HUGE. It was plenty for the two of us — each getting a crab claw, plenty of shrimp, clams, crawfish and mussels. The sausage and potatoes left some to be desired because there was no seasoning on the potatoes and my boyfriend mentioned that the sausage was just a regular sausage, not a kielbasa. The clams seems a little overcooked but I loved the crab legs, mussels and shrimp. The hushpuppies were DELISH! The meals are served on paper products with plastic silverware, drinks were served in styrofoam and you had rolls of paper towel at the tables. The only real silverware was the nut cracker and fork for the crab legs. Considering the feel of the restaurant and that they are a seafood joint, I get it. Less to clean and let’s face it… seafood can get messy. Overall, we were happy with our visit! My favorites of the meal were the lobster and crab bisque, mussels, crab legs, shrimp and hushpuppies. We left full and satisfied. Our waitress was friendly and continued to check on us even after our food was served, even providing lids for our cups so we could take our drinks to go. If you’re looking for a nice or fancy chain restaurant, this isn’t it. We definitely wanted local and we got it. This place reminds me of a beach local feel that I get in Charleston, SC. I’d recommend it to friends and would visit again!

This is a standard run-of-the-mill beach dive bar. Fish po-boy was good, fries were very good and plentiful. Iced tea great. Service was exceptional.

A local pointed our party of three to Sting Ray’s for fresh seafood and a decent price. We sat outside on the patio and got service right away. The menu is a assortment of seafood that can be served steamed, fried or sauteed. I opted for the half snow crab, half gulf shrimp combo served with Corn and salad. It was a huge portion, and I just loved the seasoning they use! Our whole party loved all the seafood, and amount of food is great for the price! The only downsides was a not so clean bathroom, and the fact that everything was served on Styrofoam. Really? Come on, Georgia. Be the change.

We checked out Sting Rays while we were in town for a wedding. It was… interesting. We were greeted by a very friendly guy at the hostess stand outside. He asked us how we were doing, how many in our party, etc. then he stated laughing and said he didn’t work there, but he’d get the hostess for us. When she came up she never greeted us, asked any questions, didn’t really a acknowledge us at all. She got the information from the guy, grabbed menus, and walked away. He let us know we were suppose to follow her. Ohhh-k! We shared a table on the patio and listened to some music while we ate. The weather was nice and the music was fun. This seemed to be a happening place because they were pretty busy with what appeared to be tourists and locals. Our service was pretty slow and the food was just ok. We shared a soup and a seafood platter with crab legs and boiled shrimp. The shrimp were overlooked so the shells were hard to peel. The soup didn’t have much seafood, but heavy flour in the base so it had that chalky taste. We probably wouldn’t try Sting Rays again unless we were going for drinks and entertainment on the deck.

Great food, good service! Came in with a group of 6. Met with a cheerful waitress. She was very polite, maybe not the most attentive. The food was great. I got a shrimp/crab basket. They may have gone a bit heavy on the old bay, but otherwise I enjoyed eating it. 3 meals came out about 10 minutes before the other 3. This was a bit annoying, but without even asking they took 10% off our bill. Took a few tries throughout the meal to get the waitresses attention for drink refills. Overall a good time, would come back for sure.

This is the best place on the island for food and drinks, period! We have been there a lot and never had bad service or bad food. We make sure we go here at least once and usually multiple times during our visit to Tybee. Now if you want to see the beach while you eat this isn’t the place but you may sacrifice good, quality food for a view.

This place is great! Its not on the ocean or overlooking it but you can still see it in a distance and that’s good enough for me. It was a hot hot day when we were visiting Tybee Island, over 100 degrees, but we still opted to sit outside on the patio. They have misting rope all the way around so even though it was mid day, it wasn’t too bad. We had crab hushpuppies for an appetizer which were perfect. I had fish tacos and Ci had Mahi Mahi tacos and both were excellent but I was a little envious of her Mahi Mahi tacos and I had to really negotiate to switch one out. You get three tacos and fries for a ridiculous cheap price of less than $ 11. Our server was attentive and I am glad we picked this place for our one meal on the Island!

Our go to seafood place. Whenever we stay in Tybee we will eat dinner here about every night. The fried shrimp are delicious. They are lightly battered and seasoned and fried to perfection. The fried fish and shrimp plate was enough that I shared it. The fish was good and I’m not a fan of fish. Everyone enjoyed the fish tacos. Best coleslaw ever! Can’t get enough of the hush puppies. We stay within walking distance so during the busy season we get our food to go but during the off season we eat in the restaurant. Will return every time we are in Tybee.

The good: the music was just right for the beach. The kids meal was a very large portion. The fries are crinkle cut, seasoned and great(although I can get the exact same ones at Zaxbys for half the price). Hush puppies were yummy. Fried crisp, slightly sweet, just not enough of them. Loved the patio. Fried fish is decent. Shrimp cocktail was good(but it is hard to mess that up to be honest) …overpriced. The bad: the crab cakes… I don’t even know what was going on with those… They are like gigantic ballish puck formations, deep fried well done. The crab was almost not distinguishable as crab. It was really Minced up, like a salmon cake consistency. And it was so thick the center was almost gooey. Overly salted, overly old bayed, very disappointing. We had to wait 45 minutes and paid way too much for the amount of mediocre food we got. Service was not friendly at all.

My wife and I were out on the town for our wedding anniversary. We stopped in to grab a late night snack(well it was late night for married parents of a two year old) and a couple drinks. As an added treat, they had a guitar player outside who played a couple of requests for me. I orders the Hop’lin IPA because I am a sucker for trying local beers and the IPA style. My wife ordered a shrimp cocktail. It was fairly standard. The shrimp were medium sized and the cocktail sauce was to her liking. I ordered the seared tuna appetizer. The appetizer was accompanied by a seaweed salad. I was amazed at the portion I received for my appetizer. I thought they mistakenly gave me an entrée. It was really tasty too. Stingrays is definitely on the list of places I’d hit if back in town.

My boyfriend and I came here while on vacation because it has some decent reviews, but we are extremely disappointed. He ordered a fried shrimp and flounder plate — which came out less than we expected($ 18). I ordered the string ray’s seafood boiled platter($ 27) — which was a decent sized portion, however, there were no flavor to the seafood at all. There were however, old bay seasoning on top of the food to give it some flavor. Our server must have been a high school kid that never refilled our drinks or brought us water until I had to flag him down — mind you, he only bought us one glass when obviously there were two of us and I asked for two. He barely came by the table to check up on us. The WORST part of the whole experience is when a female server walked by our table and dropped a crab claw opener on the floor, then continued to pick it up and put it on top of the FOOD, which she then served to her table. That is definitely against sanitation regulation. I hope nothing like that happened to our food. Smh I would not recommend this place if you’re looking for good, sanitized food. Health inspection should inspect this place again, if they haven’t recently.

The customer service here is excellent! Both the Hostess and waitresses are so friendly and helpful and the food and drinks were awesome! If you’re in the area and want to eat some great seafood in Tybee island with family or pets, I recommend coming here. It’s a very kid and animal friendly place. We brought our little puppy out with us for the day, and unfortunately most restaurants didn’t let us bring our dog in. But this place was very accommodating! They even brought a bowl of water out for her :-)

So many places to eat on Tybee Island! We decide to give this place a try. It was fairly packed. There’s a large patio area, and indoor dining is available as well. The hostess let us select our table since a few were empty. We decided to sit on the patio and enjoy lunch. I ordered the Grilled Mahi Mahi fish tacos and a sweet tea. My sweet tea arrived extremely fast!(Great server) My food arrived shortly after. The meal comes with fries. I’ve never had tacos and fries, but it was worth a try. The tacos were very good. The fish was seasoned and grilled well, not over seasoned. The fries had a bit of seasoning, so if you’re not into seasoned fries you may want to request them plain. Our server was friendly and really fast! She suggested that I order the tacos and I’m glad she did. I’m glad we decided to dine here.

Our friends invited us out here one Sunday(in December) and the only people here were at the bar, so we were seated immediately under the patio that had heaters. We were definitely toasty even though it was about 40 degrees outside. This is their favorite local food joint to eat at when they’re in Tybee, so I’m sure they rate this place at a 5. Let me just say this real quick, I hate seafood. Moving on! Good service. Drinks were good, but were small. I could have downed in in about three good sips. I had my first bite of shrimp cocktail and it was decent. I think the sauce is what made it tolerable. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and it was delicious. The fries were some of the best from any restaurant I’ve been to. I’m sure they’re frozen, but they cook them just right where they’re crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside and seasoned to perfection. My fiancée ordered the Alaskan King Crab platter and I have to say, I enjoyed the bite of crab he gave me. I tried a shrimp from a friend’s plate and that was all I was able to swallow. Prices: Drink we ordered was $ 5.50 My sandwich – $ 6.95 + cheese or bacon extra Crab platters – $ 22.95 Fish Tacos– ~$ 9.95

Great crab legs! Huge portion! We were not fans of the crab fritters, we only ate one and left the rest. Not too much to say it’s a pretty small local joint, I’d go for crab legs only.
