3 items for $ 9++ it was okay… its cheap and the serving is okay… i got the adobo rice. not that tasty but its okay… got the beef mechado its tasty, got kare kare its okay too and got the bbq chicken its very tasty but something is missing in the taste… the lumpia is overpriced for 8pcs smallllllll for 3.75. never again. id rather get the one frozen in supermarket… for a lunch and cheap this is a place to go!

I used to come here often because it is the closest where I live. Their chicharon and sisig are decent. I used to like their Kare Kare, however, recently, they add chuck roast beef in put less ox tail with your order. Half of the Kare Kare meats are the worst cut. I have not been here in almost a year so maybe they have changed, probably not. For a fast food place, I think their prices are on the higher side.

If it’s one thing you gotta order from this place, it’s the sisig. I’m a huge sisig eater & after Toppings Too changed their chef, recipe, management, whatever, their sisig was just not the same, so I had to look elsewhere. Nayong Filipino became the spot! Every family party we have, we gotta get sisig from Nayong Filipino. The staff is nice. You really get that Filipino hospitality when you walk in there. I’m only giving it 4 stars because I ALWAYS forget they are closed on Tuesdays & I wish I could get their sisig every day of the week.

Convenient and quick! I’m a big fan of their lechon kawali, adobo and lumpiang shanghai. it’s my go to when I can’t get the home cooked meal from my mom. Is it me or did they get expensive? Their silogs are super expensive now, wish it was the same price as what Tselogs and their late business hours. Other than that, they are really nice people. I’ve hired them before for catering and they were great to work with.

Nayong Filipino is a good restaurant with delicious Filipino cuisine. The place is kind of small to accommodate bigger crowd and we have to wait to be seated. I will recommend this restaurant to everybody. Al 4634

I’d give this place a 3.5 but I’m rounding to a 4 because we’re here all the time ordering catering! I only did dine-in once before they remodeled but it was still a good experience! There’s always something that makes Filipino restaurants feel like home. My family orders catering from here all. the. time. We don’t cook a lot from home anymore so even small take out is good enough. We always get the sisig, beef mechado, and the lechon kawali.(In that order too!) The lechon kawali is the BEST. Sometimes I eat some in the car on the way home lol. If we’re craving it sometimes we get the adobo rice too — just be careful there might be bones! I wanna give it a 3.5 just because the wait sometimes is so long. I once waited almost an hour for lechon kawali AND we called in 20 minutes in advance. All the other food we ordered was starting to get cold, but I understand it can get busy. Even my non-Filipino friends love the food here so it’s definitely worth the wait. All in all in glad this place is still thriving after all these years!

Love the Bangus sisig, mechado, Kare Kare, Sinigang and lechon kawali. Plenty of food to choose from, easy to call and order for pot luck parties. I’ve been going to this place for years and is still one of my favorite Filipino restaurant.

I don’t go out to eat Filipino food very often b/c I can just get it at home but this place has good stuff! They have the already prepared food that you can pick and eat or you can place an order and get something catered. They have really good options that are already prepared too. Like kare kare, sisig, lechon kawali, etc. All of it is really good too. It’s not expensive either. It’s like $ 6 for any item and rice. They have good customer service here as well. They usually only sell the lechon kawali in large portions but I just asked if I can have it with rice and she offered to just give me a smaller portion and charged me for a normal 1 item. This saved me a lot of money and wasted food. Their sisig here is also really good. Everyone I know gets sisig here for their parties. It’s delicious and comes with sauce and onions. I also like how clean this place is. They maintain it really well.

I’ve ordered take out twice. My overall assessment is that the food lacked seasoning which was really disappointing. There is a food counter and the food behind the glass looked sad. They make so much food at one time that the food just sits for a long time. I would think that replenishments in small batches would yield better flavor and freshness. The sisig was pilled high. They probably scooped it right out and into our to go container so our order was basically cold by the time we got there. Another negative was that the orders were not made together. The dishes sat at the counter for 20min while waiting for 2 other dishes to be made. By the time we got home all the dishes were soggy but it didn’t matter because everything lacked seasoning. Crispy Pata– Soggy, unappetizingly gray colored Chicaron Bulaklak– Soggy, grease laden Pinakbet– Watery, soggy vegetables Sisig– Dry, not made on a sizzling hot plate. Broasted Chicken– Fat, grease drips down your face Palabok– Flavorless Will not go back. This place is an example of why Filipino food is not mainstream.

I can’t review on anything here, except for the sisig. I don’t crave sisig that often, but when I do, I always resort back to Nayong Filipino, since you can get a big ol tub of it. If I could bathe myself in sisig, I would really contemplate it. I particularly like that they separate the onions, jalapenos and vinegar. Such a pet peeve when places mix it all up assuming the amount of spice is a-ok. however with Nayong, I am able to add til I’m content. Whenever we’ve gone, around dinner, there’s never been a line or many people inside. It’s been a hit or miss whenever we go. Sometimes, you can tell the food has been sitting on the hot table too long and it’s dry, but a majority of the time it’s perfectly cooked. For my days I just want to smell like sisig for days, you’ll find me here.

From Great Food to good Food. From fast service to mellow and then to slow pace. This place used to be my one of my favorite when I used to work 5mins away from here(rewind 5 years) Now the service is slow, the foods are not that great anymore. They updated the interior, but service was downgraded. No I’m not going back to this place. Sad but true…

They have renovated their restuarant and its so much better with comfier booths. Their food is pretty good. There are some dishes better than others though. We usually order party trays from here but make sure you give advance notice when placing your order or they won’t cook it for you. They have short hours for a restaurant and its more a pick your food from a ready station and if they run out and almost end of their hours, they won’t cook it for you. Their prices are a little steeper than other Filipino restaurant chains near by. Here are some of the dishes that I have tried: Bicol’s pride — good and bitter melon is not as bitter. Good for me. Sisig — good but can be a little fatty some days. Broasted chicken — deep fried and usually you eat it with sweet sauce Kare Kare — has little veggies and not enough soup for me. Kaldereta — veggies cut so big but not as much meat Pork inihaw — is pretty good Deep fried bangus milkfish) — it’s small for the price but still good Lumpia Shanghai — good but have ordered and seemed a little overdone to me but only sometimes. Crispy patta — love the crispiness and their dipping sauce Pancit — it’s ok but I have had better Chopsuey — ok Adobo chicken or pork — is pretty good Lechon kawali — deep fried pork so good. It their saucy is a little too vinegary for me. Chicken Afritada — the veggies are cut in big pieces but sauce is good. Bulaklak or Broasted smelt — love this Deep fried chicken skin — this is better than pork skin but they don’t always have this(so bad for you!) Halo halo — it’s ok Karoka balls — I don’t think they make these but have them ordered from someone. It’s still good, crispy and sweet. They don’t always have it but when they do, try them! Yum! My taste maybe different than others but you have to try it here still… Union city is a little Manila if you ask me… so many other Filipino restaurants here to try…

We used to go to this place a lot when we lived closer to this area. The set-up is like fast food Chinese places where you pick a combo or entrée that you can order to-go or eat in the restaurant. I came here 3 days ago to order to-go food just because we were craving for their food and I must say the food is still pretty good but the prices increased a whole lot. 2 stars — AWESOMEFOOD. The food still tastes the way I remember and it was awesome. I was not really a fan of pinakbet(veggies with shrimp paste) because it was soggy but when I bought it this time it was pretty tasty and not soggy. You can also order party trays but make sure to order in advanced especially on holidays because they usually get tons of orders. 2 stars — NICEINTERIORUPGRADES. They really revamped the place from the last time I was here. It looks much more cleaner now and it has more space now because they have booths instead of the cluttered tables and chairs. –1 star — HEFTYPRICES. The large cup of sisig(pork cut into pieces) used to be 8.99 but now it’s 11.25. They also add $ 1.00 for every beef order. Things got more expensive now and they did some upgrade to their place so the hefty prices are understandable. LOCATION: This place is inside a tiny mall area with limited parking spaces on a busy day. Despite the hefty prices, I think i’ll still come back once in a while because the food is awesome!

We did like coming here when we’re in the area, but after yesterday(09÷14÷14), I don’t think we’ll bother coming back. Although we love the sisig here, yesterday, in my daughter’s plate, we found a piece of metal scrap. What if it had cut her mouth? & how’d it even get in there? Another thing, in my niece’s water cup, we found a fingernail in it. A FREAKIN fingernail! Seriously? Someone needs to come by and check how sanitary this restaurant is. Not coming back, ever.

OVERPRICED Filipinos tend to be critical of other Filipinos like the criticism Augusto received during Philippines episode of «No Reservations». For Filipino eateries we tend more critical if the food at these restaurants don’t taste better than home cooked meals to justify the price. I read the reviews and saw pictures about this place. Since this restaurant is about 10-minute drive from my parents’ place I wanted to give it a try. Last week I came here to eat. I ate here Monday night after work. One of the specialties I’ve read was the broasted chicken. So I wanted to compare their chicken with the chicken from Maharlika. When I got there I looked at the menu and the broasted chicken wasn’t listed. I asked one of the workers if they still serve broasted chicken and she stated they’re not serving broasted chicken that night. There’s also a steam table that consist of dishes. Some of the items look enticing such as the kare-kare. However one of the big turnoffs I have with Filipino eateries I visited are food in the steam table because the food sits there quite a while. By the time you eat the food it’s just not freshly cooked anymore. On the menu there were two other dishes I was interested: crispy pata or tapsilog. I decided the crispy pata. With crispy pata I ordered medium size order of steam rice. The problem, like with the broasted chicken, was the side of rice wasn’t listed on the menu. I also ordered halo-halo. I love halo-halo but my main concern was that because the abundance of condiments overflowing the plastic cup became too sticky. The only saving grace of that meal was the crispy pata. The skin was crispy and meat was moist as a crispy pata should be. After eating here Monday night one of the frustrations I had with this place was the menu wasn’t clear what is served. My second time eating here was last Thursday. I wanted to give this place another chance. I came here for the broasted chicken, but it wasn’t served. I was told that broasted chicken is only served on Fridays and the weekends. That doesn’t make sense since there are two broaster fryers in the restaurant — an expensive, inefficient way to use the equipments in the restaurant. My other alternative dish was a special type of silog: bangusilog. I figured since this was an a la carte menu the dish would be freshly cooked. Well I was wrong. First the bangus was selected from the steam table. I have reservations about any food in a steam table but especially items that are fried. When meat is deep fried it needs to be eaten right away while the breading is crisp and the meat is moist. Once it is untouched for a while there breading becomes soggy and the meat becomes dry. Well that’s what happened with the bangus. Since there was no garlic rice available for the bangusilog one of the workers asked me if I wanted the adobe rice from the steam table. I reluctantly said yes. Not only was the adobe rice cold but there was a big chunk of bay leaf in the adobe rice. I understand you need bay leaves as a flavor in adobe but for consuming purposes there should be no bay leaf. Maybe it’s the Gordon Ramsay in me when I see things like this. I know I sound picky but you are paying for the food. The only thing that was freshly cooked hot out of the kitchen for the bangusilog was the fried egg. After the second visit I wasn’t planning to visit this place again. However I felt to make a comparison of this place and Maharlika I needed to order the broasted chicken. The following day on a Friday I placed an order of broasted chicken for pickup. The broasted chicken had that crispy skin but I was shocked to find out how dry the meat was. And that ended my numerous visits to this restaurant. After three visits my rating of two stars is justified. Some might interpret that since this is a Filipino restaurant I am too lenient. However my rating also is based upon that this place has the potential to be better. There are two improvements I would suggest. First the restaurant needs to be clearer with the menu — list all the items that this restaurant serves. Second get rid of the steam table. Customers will pay more if a dish is served a la carte provided that dish taste good. The prime examples are the crispy pata and the egg from the bangusilog. There’s saying that the third time is the charm. I’ve been here three times in one week spending a little over $ 50. Let’s just say I don’t plan to come here anytime soon.

Noelle’s Unilocal Notebook 2014 Nayong Filipino is a turo-turo(meaning to point at in Tagalog) restaurant in Union City, California. My family(grandmother, husband, baby and I) dined there this past Sunday. I called ahead to see if they had broasted chicken available. They didn’t have any ready at the time but the chef offered to cook some up if I was willing to wait 30 minutes. I left my name, number and told them I’d be dining in with my family and that would be great if they could cook up a fresh batch of broasted chicken. Off the beaten path you will find Nayong Filipino in an older strip mall. Inside you will find a cafeteria like set-up where you go through the line and point at the foods you want. There are quite a few tables(for four) if you want to dine at Nayong Filipino. Our order: Broasted Chicken(ten pieces) Lumpia Shanghai(medium) Pinakbet(small) Pancit(medium) Bangus(half-milk fish) Adobo Fried Rice(medium) Sisig(small) Halo-Halo Two Fountain Drinks Garlic Peanuts(one tub) Sisig(medium, to-go) ____________ My Favorites ____________ Broasted Chicken– This was fantastic! It was seasoned and cooked to perfection, the skin was crispy and the meat inside was moist and extremely flavorful. Sisig– Probably one of the best Sisig dishes I’ve had in the SF Bay area. The meat was grilled to perfection, diced nicely, extremely flavorful– it was so good we ordered a medium size container to go. Halo-Halo — Perfection ratio of ice, milk, beans, sweetness and generous scoop of ice cream. This was amazing! _________________________________ Thoughts on the other parts of the meal _________________________________ Lumpia Shanghai(medium) — soggy and not crispy at all. Pinakbet(small) — wasn’t tasty, not seasoned properly. Pancit(medium) — greasy, lacked flavor, not seasoned properly., extremely bland. Bangus(half-milk fish) — fried to a crisp, not bad. Pork Adobo Fried Rice(medium) — rice was old tasting, shredded pork was sparse and again it was seasoned well, extremely bland. _________________________________ Noelle’s Notes _________________________________ 5 Unilocal Stars for the Broasted Chicken, Sisig, Halo-Halo. 5 Unilocal Stars for the Customer Service — on the phone and in person. 0 Unilocal Stars for the unbearable heat in the restaurant– it was so freaking hot, next time I will take my food to go. 0 Unilocal Stars for the soggy lumpia shanghai, pinakbet, pancit and pork adobo fried rice.

I drive all the way from San Jose to eat at this place when I crave filipino food! Things I love: — the sinigang is sooooo good and sour just the way I like it(I have had other filipino restaurants always giving fatty pieces of meat in their sinigang and I hate that but this place gives great portions of meat) — this place has MANY selections all the time(a lot of other filipino«point and choose» places are very limited) — the staff is great here — the portions are perfect — the place is big and clean — the sisig is super good The thing that I didn’t like here is the white steamed rice. I’m not sure what kind of rice they use here but it’s not good.

okay I might be a little bias because I use to work here but seriously their food is really really DELICIOUS! I recommend: –SISIG with the sauce and condiments. It isn’t your traditional sisig. Its more of a carne asada but seriously heaven with the sauce and the condiments. –Broasted Chicken is very good and juicy. It isn’t very healthy but filipino food isn’t the healthiest cuisine. lol –Kare Kare is my absolute favorite!!! I get it all the time. even after working there for 2 years its still my favorite. Cons: I feel like its a little expensive like most filipino restaurants. I would only come here for takeout because it isn’t a restaurant.

Started going here a few years ago because of the Sisig. Really good. And it still is, but over the years I’ve tried plenty menu items which are also equally delicious! My personal fave is the michado I swear this one always gets me. The brisket meat they use is so tender with just the right amount of of fat around for extra flavor profile! I like to smash the potatoes in my rice, it’s how your supposed to eat it IMO lol. I also enjoy there adobo fried rice and Kate kare. And I like how I can get a side of there soup of the day to go along w meal. I’m a big side soup guy so that’s a plus for me! The kicker is there 8pm special. Everyday at 8pm an hour before they close they mark all the food down 50% because there going to throw it all away anyway so I make sure to go then and bring dinner back for the whole fam! A great way to have home cooked goodness for an affordable price. All in all a great turo turo spot for any meal of the day I def recommend.

I was in dire need of some«Broasted Chicken» for my family’s Christmas Eve dinner. The place I was looking at for the chicken was closed on Mondays. BOO! Nayong Filipino was my last resort and I took a chance to place an order here hours before our dinner. I got a busy signal on my first time calling, but I was able to get through after my second attempt. The phone service was very helpful and patient while I was placing a small order of the Broasted Chicken. When I went to pick up my order, this place looked like a mad house, but very organized. All phone orders were marked with pickup times for easy distribution. I was assisted by two young ladies with my purchase and pickup. Both very nice and helpful. One of the young ladies carried my order out to my car, but she insisted. This is not a part of my nature. I just felt bad in the inside. I thanked for carrying my purchase. This chicken was a hit at the party! Nothing was breaded with this chicken. It was just full of meat and crispy skin goodness! If your looking to try or crave Broasted Chicken, check out Nayong Filipino. Thanks for being a life saver during the holiday season.
