This location is big and never enough people working. Because of understaffing the workers are rushed and sometimes appear rude. I know they’re trying their best but it’s just not a place I feel welcome at. I prefer other locations. Good thing is, there’s always a sale. But there’s always a sale at every payless.

Payless Shoe Source is a pretty empty store that not many people go to. There are shoes displayed everywhere and they also sell jewelry, socks, and other items in addition to shoes. The staff are pretty attentive and are very helpful. They are also super kind and you could ask them any questions and they will help you. The mirrors in here are pretty weird and are distorted in a way, causing you to not see you in your shoes completely clearly.

Nothing special about Payless Shoe Source in Union City. It’s cheap shoes that’s about it. I went Wed 12÷28÷11 after dinner, nobody was there, plus they close at 9pm. I found a pair of ugly black shoes that are slip-ons for $ 19.99. Hope they don’t hurt too much. Girl told me new inventory come in Tues & Thurs. For you Payless Shoe Source Fans!

I’ve only been here once but had a good experience. I knew what I wanted, came in, gave my orders to the person working, she got the shoes back to me quickly and even recommended a similar one to see if I would like it. I tried them on, liked them, then paid and got out. Easy peasy time.

Last few times I went here, it was lame. There were high school kids trying on heels being loud, and the staff wouldn’t stop watching every move I made. Also, there’s never anything cute at this location. Oh well.

I used to sit by this store all the time while waiting for my wife to pick me up after work(one day, another woman tried to pick me up, but I was too heavy). Once in awhile, we went inside(I miss the change that I sometimes got when I was alone outside– not shaving + dressing homely = big bucks). Our most recent visit was a few weeks ago. +The store is always clean and orderly. It’s also easier than ever to walk around(it’s really only busy here over the weekend). Some areas have been opened up. +The seats can support my weight(they’re quite sturdy). I have to say, though, that they’re pretty low to the ground(I think they were built for kids or midgets). +There’s always a nice selection of accessories(ex: socks; tote and satchel bags; backpacks; wallets; belts; hats; scarves; earrings; sunglasses). Some items, like umbrellas, are only sold at certain times of the year. I don’t wear them anymore(«don’t ask, don’t tell»), but you can even find dance tights here. +The employees here are friendly and eager to help. At the same time, they give you your space(the atmosphere is casual, like a lot of the shoes). +There’s a solid selection of shoes(for all sizes, there are at least 70 to choose from), and an equal amount of space is allocated for each group(boys and girls; men and women). In 2009, my wife bought two pairs of tennis shoes during the same visit(a third pair was in the running). Even if there aren’t a lot of shoes that catch your eye, you can usually find some gems. +As Christina Y. and Veronica A. have mentioned, if they don’t have your size, an employee will try to direct you to a store that does. +The posters on the windows are eye-catching, and they help to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. –The aisles are still a bit narrow. It’s somewhat easy for employees or other customers to get in the way. –The shoes won’t suddenly disintegrate and turn to ash, but they’re not of the greatest quality(by and large, you get what you pay for). Some knock-offs are also sold here. –This has started to change, but some of the employees here are very young. They look like they belong in an afterschool program. –There could be a few more seats. In general, though, this isn’t an issue. My wife bought some nice earrings here last time. She also bought some socks. The cashier was promoting them(this is a new thing, and my wife needed some socks anyway). She was friendly, but a little loud and annoying(I was happy when we left). A lot of shoes here are $ 40 or less(this is especially the case with the ones for women and kids). To quote my favorite philosopher, Sir Eric Cartman, «Kick ass!»

Let me preface by saying that we came here to get my six-year old daughter some shoes. Here are her comments: I like the way the shoes looked except they weren’t built so good. I tried on some shoes and when I ran, they immediately fell off my feet. But one thing I liked about that place, was that there was a mirror and when I looked in it, it made me look very short. And on the bottom part of the mirror, it made my foot look weird.

This store is always clean and organized. Staff is always available to assist you and do it with a smile. They carry alot of different types of shoes and if they can’t find your size they tell you the nearest store that might have it. I do have to agree with the fellow Unilocaler on if you wear their shoes for a while your feet get smelly. I found with my son’s sneakers, his socks will be wet at the end of the day. It hasn’t happened with sneakers purchased somewhere else. I think it’s just the quality of the shoe, leather vs plastic type of thing. One time the sales girl thought my son was so cute she gave us 10% off. She said«he’s just too cute, I have to use my discount for him!» and I was buying shoes for him LOL

Want shoes? On a budget? Well, don’t be afraid to come in! I like coming here ‘cos you can find some real good deals on some fashionable shoes. Some are even quite comfortable! Once I bought some cute shoes from here & not too long after, I went to Bloomingdales & saw that Steve Madden had the same shoe! ;D I had a Steve Madden knock-off! ;x Even the lining was the same! What sucks is that some of their shoes make your feet smell after heavy use. :x Fun Fact: If they don’t have your size, you can ask them to give you a list of locations to find it. :)
