Came mostly for the sushi and was glad it was pretty fresh. The sushi is a large chunk of rice, but they have sashimi for dinner. The udon is cute since they put a few noodles in a bowl and you add the tofu, scallion, and soup yourself. Everything is as you’d expect in a Chinese buffet– nothing too fancy. The waitresses come around quite a lot to clear your plates. I enjoyed the green tea ice cream as well.

Superb value and excellent quality food. Too many great items to mention. I’m a sushi/sashimi freak and I was in heaven. Its not the Ginza but for the price i was pleasantly surprised. Impressive quality for an all-you-can-eat joint. Excellent selection of desserts you wouldn’t expect at an Asian buffet. Topped off my dessert with Green Tea ice cream, doesn’t get any better. Clean restaurant with a nice atmosphere Servers were right-on, friendly and fun to chat with.

I didn’t know what to expect when I purchased the groupon. The food wasn’t inedible, I mean it didn’t give us food poisoning which was our biggest fear but it wasn’t good. Sashimi didn’t taste right and stay away from raw oysters! The desserts were very limited which was a bummer! Also please people don’t let your kids serve their own food and run amuck– as a mother myself I serve my child’s food out of cleanliness and respect for other patrons. Out Waitress was very nice and drinks are free refills. I did notice that people around us tipped so low, which I didn’t understand as waitress was very good at cleaning plates in timely manner and refilling drinks with a smile. The owner gave us no issue redeeming the grouping as other tellers complained, he was very nice and even gave us a coupon for 15%off our next visit. Our family isn’t really into buffets but for a change in atmosphere give it a shot just come with realistic expectations. Would we come here again, sure I don’t see why not.

I love the variety of food here. lots of healthy options and something for everyone in the family to love. Definitely the best buffet around this area. Let’s help support and keep this place in business and keeping up the quality of food they serve!

Food wise: 2stars It’ll make u full. But the quality of the food is really lacking. However, the cost matches what you get. So at least you won’t feel ripped off. There really isn’t enough variety. Mostly Americanized chinese food. This is more accurately a chinese buffet than a japanese buffet. Don’t get ur hopes up abt the sushi because ur $ 13(tip and tax included) can be better spent on nice rolls elsewhere. I give them 3 stars because the establishment knows their own quality and doesn’t try to rip you off. At the very least, you feel good about the fact that you didn’t pay a ton and still got a buffet experience. I wouldn’t come back with friends… Maybe on my own if I really wanted to just munch and stuff myself for shits and giggles.

Years ago i used to come here at least 2 – 3 times a week, i used to live in union that time. I haven’t been here since then and desided to visit this place again with my family. Based on my observation things change a lot specially the quality of food, Id tried some of fish dishes and baked clams, but it doesn’t taste right very fishie not fresh compaired from the past experienced i had. Sushi is good and very nice sushi Chef. You can ask them for special sushi request and they will make it happen for you, just make sure you tip them. Even the Staff dont really talk they all very attentive and polite and willing to assit you anytime. Cleanliness of the place still consistent. The only comment i have is for them to improve the food a little more better. Over all not Bad.

The place is clean with friendly staff. The sushi & sashimi selections are limited but for a buffet it is sufficient. The plus is the on-the-spot preparations. The soups are excellent. Often the soups as a take out option.

Food was not as good as the service. Very friendly waitresses, but sushi was not fresh at all. We arrived around 4:30 and the udon was stale and the sushi was questionable. Also, there was a limited selection. I would come here again, but maybe come at a later hour. Maybe we came too early??? On a side note, they messed up our bill and overcharged us by over $ 130. Good thing we caught the mistake and they were able to fix it quickly and professionally.

I don’t usually write reviews, but I feel like Koki Buffet deserves it! Don’t let the 3.5 star rating fool you. Their large variety of foods will keep you and your family satisfied! I know I was! I will definitely be back especially for their dinners! Remember this is not a 5 star restaurant and you didn’t pay a 5 star price, so you need to judge base on what you paid for! It’s a 5 of 5 for me.

The food is okay, nothing special but it’s a buffet. No liquor but byob I think. The sushi isn’t great but what does one really expect for the price. You get what you pay for here. The sushi buffet in menlo park mall is far superior

The volcano sushi roll is amazing. This place is pretty ok. Not the best in the world but clean and pleasant.

I didn’t expect much when I went in but I was pleasantly surprised of the atmosphere! Food looked tasty when I walked around. I started off with the oysters(yes I had them at a buffet) and I liked it. Did not have the fishy/slimy taste. Actually got 6 of them. Sushi was good. Also the rest of the entrees was good as well. Many desserts to choose from and they also have multiple flavors of ice cream. I will be coming back again! I usually don’t say that about buffets.

Excellent price for very good Asian buffet. Good prices, above average food, clean, good atmosphere… I highly recommend for groups and kids. Lots of sushi, fruit, dessert and all kinds of Asian and some American food. 10% coupon of you check in on Unilocal

I will start off by saying I do not eat seafood and I have been here multiple times. With that being said, this is a review on everything else that they have to offer. First of all, I don’t know why, but the food is ALWAYS cold. Not the type of cold that happens when food sits out for awhile… I’m talking refrigerated. Why… and it’s consistently cold too, it wasn’t just one bad experience. The presentation and selections are top notch though, and it does look very appetizing, but I refuse to keep turning a blind eye to the fact that they blatantly serve cold food. The place also has ZERO cell phone reception, so if you need to communicate with anyone, be prepared to bring envelopes, stamps, pen & paper, because you are doing this the old fashioned way at this establishment. The prices are insanely high and just does not justify the quality of food you are getting and the generic customer service. There are many other buffets in the area that are literally half the price for better food. The hibachi buffet in Watchung on Route 22, for example, offers on site cooking at a hibachi table in addition to the buffet and is way cheaper than this place… Oh, and their food is actually hot. I really miss the original buffet that was at this location called«King Chef», it was 1000 times better and I used to go there at least twice a week. I will not be coming back to this location until their food is the proper temperature… or King Chef comes back: D Why 2 stars then?: The hibachi rice is really good

I was trying to find an alternative to Minado and POC and did a search on Unilocal.I saw some reviews comparing favorably to those buffets(just to try something different). When I arrived I was a little bit disappointed because the restaurant is much smaller than the other buffets. After eating here, I felt those other reviews did not match my expectations at all. First, the sushi… You get FAR more variety and quality of fish(if you can call it that) with Minado and POC. It’s a huge difference. Second, people come to premium buffets to get shrimp and king crab. Well the shrimp is on the small side and it has the shell on so you spend more time peeling. King crab legs? Well there are none. Cooked food — just ok variety but no carving station like the other buffets. No noodle station. The taste is not bad but not exceptional. Desserts — hard ice cream but no toppings. Decent selection of fruit, cakes and pudding. This is not Minado or Port of Call — not in a long stretch. You pay $ 19 but what you’re getting is a standard Chinese buffet with some so-so sushi added in. If you are expecting a premium buffet, you will be sorely disappointed. If you are looking for a hometown style buffet, you’ve come to the right place

Fresh, delicious, and BYOB! Love it. What more can a man want from an AYCE? The only reason I even made my way to this buffet restaurant was because of Groupon. I saw the deal and it was too good to pass up so I said«hey what the heck let’s give this place a try!» So I made my way to this place one Friday night which incidentally was Halloween. I guess everyone was out trick or treating because the place was practically empty when I got there. Now this gives a bad first impression to any buffet place especially since it was a weekend, but I didn’t want that to affect my impression of the restaurant until I got to actually try their food. Now since this place is the typical Chinese owned Japanese buffet I already expected it to be like every other one I’ve been to. I was thoroughly surprised when I tried their sushi and sashimi that it was fresh. Not like it was frozen before and you can taste it like it had been frozen fresh but you can actually still taste the essence of the ocean fresh! Fine don’t believe me if you don’t want to but I know my sushi. They also were serving lobster that particular night and man I downed a whole pod myself. Now since I got a special Groupon price I already knew what to expect to pay at the end but even if I came here without the deal the regular dinner price is still cheaper that Minado and Ichi Umi. The food is just as good but the selection could be better. Overall I really enjoyed the meal, I just hope I’m not kooky for loving this place as much as I did. Hehe see what I did there… play on words. Deuces!

I ate an early dinner here after meeting with family members in Union. They told me that this was a regular place for them to have lunch. We ate after 3:30pm, so the dinner price is $ 16 per person. Service was fine; the waitress who kept refilling my glass of water always had a smile on her face and promptly took my plates when I was ready for another round. Buffet Pro(s): While I’ve certainly eaten at buffets with much larger selections in California, Koki’s has a decent lineup. The middle section of the buffet is shaped like a square []. The left and top part are all sushi and seafood, while the other two sides have the Chinese dishes. The far left side of the buffet area has the desserts while the remaining two sides have various American items. My favorite section was probably the front part of the buffet and the sushi side with various kinds of rolls. One thing I must commend Koki’s on is having descriptions of what each dish is. On the glass window above the heating trays is a small tab that describes what the item is and what it is made of. Buffet Con(s): This review would have been a 1-star rating, but I won’t be that incredibly harsh over one thing. The main problem I have with this place is the freshness of the nigiri. If there is anything I want anyone to get out of my review, it is for everyone to look at the nigiri, smell it, and take a small bite out of it. Why? The hamachi I ate was incredibly sour. I was suspicious of its freshness right when I looked at it, since the edges were slightly brown and the middle was more of an eggshell white; in short, it appeared discolored. I don’t mind coming back, but I’ll definitely hold on any item that involves sashimi or any raw meat here.

So I was wondering aimlessly this afternoon and had the sudden urge to get some buffet and surgical supplies? Yup this strip mall has it all! Good food. Good atmosphere. Clean! Great for big parties. Sushi was good. Bathrooms clean. Service good. When I asked for some Coffee it was… surprisingly amazing! Only bad comments were that the drinks offered out front were virgin drinks(sans alcohol) and the booster seat for my toddler was sticky and an older woman left the mens room as I entered. Coincidence? Maybe not. These days you never know with people. Looks can be deceiving. Definitely will be back for food and… my surgical supplies!!!
