This is our favorite sushi restaurant. Jeff, the owner, makes everything himself and even goes down to L.A. in the wee hours to get everything fresh. He will customize any of the menu items to the customers specific taste. My husband’s favorite is the Harley Roll… even when we are not on the Harley.

My first 1 star and I kind of feel bad but the food was not very good at all. We ordered 4 different rolls including the chefs special and each set was covered in a sweet sauce. Friendly staff, really good chefs, and excellent AC for a wonderful dining area. This place has good prices for such a nice restaurant and the people here make a birthday memorable. I know I saw everyone singing and clapping for someone’s special day. A thing you should remember through is that you have to get there before 5pm for there special prices.

Just ate here today and have been looking for a good place for a while. I think I found it! The atmosphere is incredibly mellow and relaxing, as well as intimate feeling. We got our food quick and you could tell just by looking(as well as tasting) that the ingredients were fresh. Was so happy that the dressing on their salads was much lighter than most sushi places and the sushi pizza was absolutely delicious. The prices were also pretty good for good quality fish. Will definitely be going back!

Been here a number of times over my four years at the Claremont Colleges. I only ever get omakase here. No reason to get anything else. I have been consistently delighted by what Jeff decides to serve. From sweet shrimp with quail egg to yellowtail collar to simple toro sushi I have enjoyed all of his dishes. I cant ask much more. Domo is far and away my favorite sushi place in the IE.

I liked the sushi here, it was different, we got this fried roll, with cream cheese, warm volcano? I’m not sure what it was called, but it was amazinggggggg ! The shrimp tempura also was ok. Some other rolls I don’t remember what they were called but were very good ! Had all the proper ingredients, and the service there was good the guy kept coming back to see if we wanted more, we had a big party and we weren’t sure how many rolls we should get. But I would come back here, very good sushi !

Well Domo is one of those sushi places that i didn’t expect to find. The prices are very reasonable and the rolls are pretty good. The thing that makes Domo different is Jeff. Jeff is the owner, sushi chef and all around awesome dude. He makes the experience a lot of fun. In terms of the rolls the Stinky roll is probably one of my favorites. Its a California roll topped with albacore and topped off with a custom garlic sauce that Jeff makes consisting of a variety of flavors, thus the name the stinky roll. The scallop and blue fin tuna are also very fresh and tasty. Some of the other rolls such as the Kamikaze roll which is practically a spider roll wrapped in lettuce instead of nori is unique. The Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is a nice display also. Overall a pretty good place to get sushi.

We ate here last night after reading a few reviews on Unilocal.We are big time sushi snobs. My husband is ½ Japanese and if the rice isn’t right or fish isn’t fresh, he’s out. We normally eat at Kens and like the sushi there. We’ve seen this place in the non-descriptive shopping center and didn’t think much of it. It always looks empty so we’ve always thought, «no thanks». Well Im glad we rolled the dice and took the Unilocal reviews advice. We were both pleasantly surprised. The place was still pretty empty, but I think its because they are fairly new, are in a bad location and have Kens to compete with. Give it some time, once the word is out, this place will be packed! Reasonable prices, very clean(better than Kens!) inside, good fresh sushi! Try it, you wont be disappointed.

Domo Sushi is right up the street from where I live, so it is nice to have a place so close to home. We used to come frequently when it was called Kazuma Sushi, but things have changed. Allow me to speak of the quality of the fish. I have never had an under quality piece of sushi from Domo. His standards are very high and I believe his source of fish is fresh and timely. The presentation is top notch. The taste and flavor of each dish is remarkable to my palate. I do enjoy the sushi. This brings me to my only complaint. Everything mentioned above is nice and the price is acceptable but I think our sushi master takes his time. The wait for our order each time I go there is a little more than I would expect from another place in town. I may be spoiled with the new fashion of slapping sushi out at break neck paces but I would visit Domo Sushi more often if he could step up the pace. Love the place, love the food. Didn’t fit my fast paced lifestyle.

I don’t have much to add to anyone other reviews. Their rolls are very good and have lots of flavor and prices are very, very reasonable. Last time, I came with another person and we only had to order 3 rolls in order to feel full. Their«Red Hill» roll, named after a local neighborhood, is definitely the best among the ones we’ve tried. It’s deep fried, large, and has some spicy mayonnaise dressing. I would give them five stars, but so far their service has yet to impress me. It seems as though staff are sometimes drunk and they forget or mix up your orders easily, so be sure to just ask for each item one at a time if you’re paranoid like me. That doesn’t seem to stop the locals from coming, though, and you’ll often hear people being greeted by their first names. All in all, I would definitely recommend this place to my friends.

Well, I depend on you people for restaurant ideas when I’m away from home. This place had the best reviews for sushi around my hotel… but I was quite disappointed. I had octopus salad, spicy tuna and a samurai roll(shrimp tempura, cream cheese, fish on top, with unagi sauce). The salad was DROWNED in rice vinegar. The tuna was ordinary. The samurai roll was large — but only because it had tons of breading and rice. I’ve never had sushi with so many carbs. So a pretty big let down. I can’t recommend it.

I’m soooooo happy that there is a good sushi place in our neck of the woods in the IE. Well, it’s not like I’ve been looking or anything since I pretty much depend on Bob C. to find good food for me to try. The best thing that we ever did was join Unilocal so we could find this place. First, yes, regulars have those reserved chopsticks behind the sushi chef, Jeff. They have the regulars’ names on them! Can you believe that? Poor Bob though… he wants a set. What does it take to get one of those? Apparently, you have to go there a lot, like every week at least. Second, the omakase that we had was delicious. It consisted of numerous amounts of sushi/sashimi along with some special creations from Jeff. We became bedazzled as to how Jeff made some of the creations, especially when he was using the torch(and he used it often!). The sushi are of high quality ingredients and it shows in its flavor. We had an array of sushi in our omakase: toasted scallop(from hokkaido), toro, white tuna, ono, spinach(you heard me, spinach), and… i can’t remember all the others. We also had some hot foods, including this sweet miso marinated chilean sea bass… just absolutely delicious! I really would have given this place 5 stars if the omakase compares to a place like Hirozen, but it doesn’t. Don’t get me wrong, it’s great, but the creativity and variety are better at Hirozen. Next time, we’ll give Jeff a call a day or week in advance to tell him we are going to come in for omakase so he can get us some live uni. I’ll revisit this review should my mind change after that.

Omakase! In the IE! Oh yeah! Thanks to Erika’s review, I was jazzed to try this place. Sat at the bar to do the omakase… and actually got to meet Erika & her hubby who were sitting a few seats down — super nice folks. Apparently, they go there so often, they have their own chopsticks waiting for them! What’s that I feel? Yep, envy. What can I say? I’m ecstatic that I do not have to travel very far for very very good sushi. Jeff is the owner and a super nice fella, in addition to being a very creative chef. I’m still very loyal to hirozen mind you, but Jeff has demonstrated he has the skills and creativity to keep bringing me back. Gerald, when you read this review, I owe you an omakase dinner from last year and I think this’ll be the ideal place… plus handel’s is just down the street, heheheheh!

This place is fantastic. My sister, dad, and I came in here for lunch on a weekday not really knowing what to expect. The staff is extremely friendly and the owner is going about trying to establish himself as a new business. I ordered the lobster roll, and although I’ve had lobster rolls in the past, this one was by the far the best. Check it out. It’s quiet and uncrowded right now, but hopefully business will pick up soon. I loved it. And there’s definitely some unique items on the menu I’m excited to go back for.

My husband and I discovered this place while driving along Foothill to specifically look for other sushi options. After trying several places, we saw the«Grand Opening» sign in front of Domo Sushi and took a chance. We were warmly greeted by Jeff and his wife and sat at a table our first time, then at the sushi bar the 2nd time(where they both remembered us). The décor is very simple, just the way I like it, with a focus on the food. The sampling of sushi included toro, hamachi, uni, aji, saba, live oyster, fresh scallops etc. This is one of the few places that offers omakase in the inland empire and has a variety of fresh items not particularly found in sushi bars out here. You can own a set of hashi behind the counter and find several repeat customers. This is definitely a place I will return to for its simplicity, great service, intimacy, and normal sushi(with some of that fancy roll stuff too). The only hesitation I have is the sake list, which I think could expand since the restaurant just recently opened. ***update** Yes, we’re weekly omakase customers!

Located on the southwest corner of Foothill and Grove, this is the restaurant that now occupies the space where Kazama Sushi used to be. I came here with mixed emotions, because Kazama was my favorite place in the area, and it closed. Also, I mistakenly thought the name read«Dono», which is an average chain of sushi restaurants that seems to be popping up all over the place. The new owners did a remodel, and they updated it with new furniture and nice wood floors. I went on a Tuesday evening at 5:30, and I was the only person there. Since I was on my way home, I decided to get some sushi to go. I opted to try 3 different rolls, the names of which I didn’t bother committing to memory. While I waited, I saw a print-out of a restaurant review of the chef and his previous restaurant in Orange County(I’m pretty sure it was in Anaheim Hills, but I just don’t remember). I decided to talk to the chef(and presumably, the new owner) while he made my rolls, just to chat him up a bit. He introduced himself as Jeff, and he said that this new place has been only open for about a month and a half. I asked him if he offered omakase, and he responded«yes», and that he has some pretty good offerings. SCORE! I made a mental note to myself to give this place another try on a another visit. The rolls themselves were alright, although honestly, rolls really aren’t my thing, and I don’t think they are a good gauge by which to judge a sushi restaurant. The restaurant has the standard Japanese fare: teriyaki, udon, dinner combinations, etc. The sushi chef, Jeff, seemed really cool, and I hope I get the opportunity to try his sushi again soon. Once I do, I will do an update to this review. **Update 8/30/07** I had the chance to come here for sushi today, meaning that I actually sat at the sushi bar, and got to sample their«true» wares, not rolls. The owner, Jeff, recommended that I try the blue fin tuna, conch(yes, conch), and of course, hamachi(or yellow tail). The blue fin was very good, and I opted for conch because I’ve never tried it before, and I’ve never seen it on a menu at any sushi place here in town. I originally gave this place a 3 star rating, only because I had never eaten sushi at the bar. If you are willing to expand your horizons and try something new in terms of fresh fish, give this place and try, and most definitely, talk to Jeff and get his recommendation. He’s friendly, and very willing to talk to you about the different types of fish and what you should look for. I also appreciate that he personally goes to downtown L. A to buy his own fish, rather than have it delivered to his restaurant. Yes, Jeff can make you whatever kind of roll your heart desires, but this guy has some game, and you should take advantage of it by trying the various special fish that he has for the day. I don’t mind paying a little more for this sushi, because it’s worth it.
