It’s lent so yenno what that means– yup, Fish Taco Fridays. The original fish taco plate comes with two fish tacos, chips and beans for $ 7.99. Score! This place is clean, family friendly and serves beer and wine. The location is perfect– right next to Jamba and Peet’s for your post lunch or dinner treat. Also, the carousel and train are within walking distance so it’s a perfect family dining spot.

What has happened here? Ok, it isSaturday at 1:30, they have been busy. I haven’t been here in a while, everything seems messy, employees not smiling, grumpy! The counters and tables are a mess! The smoky Oaxacan shrimp tacos are good, but I miss the portobello mushroom and Padilla pepper tacos.

Just bought two salsa verde taco plates at Rubios Vacaville and Brandon was very helpful with not only taking my Phone order but also making sure I had a great experience while I was there. Brandon definitely goes above and beyond for his customers and the tacos were great as always!

Went in on a Tuesday evening. First time here and it wasn’t packed which was nice. The inside was clean and there was a lot of seating. My daughter is obsessed with shrimp so she ordered a shrimp burrito with the chipotle sauce on the side. And it came with chips. The burrito was tasty and the chips were warm. Some chips were a little more salty then I prefer but it balanced out nicely with the good salsa they have. The have a salsa bar with chipotle, super good. Picante which was also really good, tomatillo was good not my favorite but yummy and mild. They also had jalapeños and cilantro and onion salsa mix. My boyfriend ordered a steak burrito which was kinda dry but he ate it and said it was good despite the dryness. I had the coastal trio and I thought it was good the only issue I had was the fish tacos were a little soggy because of the sauce but I got over it. The shrimp taco was my favorite and IDE go back probably for just that alone. They give good portions of shrimp and fish in the tacos and for the price it’s worth it. It reminded me of a nicer fast food joint. And the kitchen kinda looked like it too…

I’ve been to a few rubios in the area because they always have wonderful seafood options including mahi mahi, grilled shrimp, tilapia, and salmon which most mexican places don’t offer. Rubio’s also has mild green salsa with cilantro and onions which I douse on my burritos and tacos! They also have fresh lime and lemon to help add a citrus punch to your tropical mexican dishes. I always get the grilled shrimp burrito or fish tacos which are always delicious. However this particular establishment had the blandest most tasteless chips I’ve ever eaten. Despite this, they were also incredibly salty. The rice in the burrito was also undercooked and hard. However the seafood is always well seasoned. If you are shopping in the outlets and need a pick me up, swing by for cheap and fast food.

Very slow. They aren’t even that busy. Food is okay. But I I will not return. He’ll just stay away unless you wanna wait ½ an hour for food. What a joke.

We stopped here on our way to SF and had a nice lunch. I haven’t been to a Rubio’s in ages — but I do like exploring their menu(even though I always order the same classic fish taco plate, which is what I had AGAIN on this visit). Mine came with a small side of refried beans and cheese(I didn’t specify so I guess that’s what it normally comes with?!) The kids had the kids meal(my son had the chicken taquitos, daughter had the chicken bites) — both came with a choice of two other sides(beans, rice, tortilla chips, applesauce, churro, hello, way too many things to pick from — in a good way) and a drink. We ate it up and were back on the road in no time!

Visited this Rubios again, and the food is consistently good. The gourmet shrimp taco and gourmet steak tacos are delicious. Also tried the atlantic salmon taco plate today, and it was ok. The pieces of salmon were smaller than the fish in the original fish taco and wasn’t as tasty as the original fish tacos. Staff continues to be very friendly and eager to ensure a good experience.

If you are in Nut Tree, and looking for a slightly better than average place to eat, Rubio’s is a good place to start. It’s Rubio’s, so you should know what to expect before you walk in. It’s counter service, so you walk in, look at the Menu board above the counter, and order from the friendly person at the register. They give you a number and you sit down. There is a fairly nice salsa bar, and self-serve soda machine while you wait. Be warned: This location get SUPER crowded at peak times due to its location in Nut Tree Shopping Village. The food is consistently good, and above mediocre quality. The flavors are spot-on, and, even though the fish tacos are their claim to fame, personally I love that they have a few vegetarian items. Today I had the veggie taco plate and my kid had a cheese enchiladas plate. They were both brought out fast, tasted yummy, and really hit the spot! The best part is that the Wee One and I can grab a wonderful lunch and not scare the Hell out of a $ 20 bill!

Came here for the first time in a few years after bad customer service. Staff was great, food was made in a timely fashion, and restaurant was clean. Glad to see things have improved!

It’s been awhile since I’ve been to a Rubio’s. I’m impressed. Their salads come in a fancy bowl. And there is actual field greens! I love this salad. I had the chipotle ranch with chicken. And it’s gluten free! The manager even came out to talk about trace amounts of gluten and how to order. I’m coming here way more often. My 3 yr old loved the rice and the taquitos. It was a very nice experience. I felt like I was in a full service restaurant.

Here’s the crazy thing about having an open kitchen where everyone can see the food prep… You can SEE everything that happens!!! I am thoroughly grossed out by what I saw as I waited for my food. I don’t even want my food anymore :( I saw food preparers wiping their hands on filthy aprons and rubbing their noses and going right back to the food prep. Yuck!!! Double yuck!!! Where is the health dept? I could have spoken to a manager while I was there, but I had to quickly get on the road. A word of wisdom: Please make sure your employees are trained on what NOT to do while preparing food for others. Please. I know this is a fast food place, but please help keep folks free from diseaae. Wash those dirty aprons and hands often. These guys weren’t even using gloves!!! Is this okay? How odten are they required to wash their hands throughout the day? I hope what I saw doesn’t happen again. Thanks

Solid Rubios here. Came here on a Sunday evening and it was crazy packed(a little league game ended and they all came here). I ordered a shrimp and bacon burrito. Also got some chips and a drink with it making it a meal. The lady behind the counter worked fast and was pleasant. The place is well kept and although we did end up waiting a little while longer than normal(about 10 minutes or so) the food tasted absolutely delicious and I was super full afterwards. I’ve been to this spot a handful of times and each time it’s been consistent! I will definitely come back again in the future when I’m in the area.

Nice staff, patient with my special order and explaining the new menu to me. The food is now presented in a bowl instead of a plate — very visually appealing. The food was good, but I’d recommend the sauces on the side as they went overboard. My only complaint was that the nice woman taking our order suddenly left the register and instantly someone else took her place. It was seamless, but she left with no explanation — very odd. Clean restrooms, staff attentive to cleaning the restaurant. Recommended.

I am on a fish taco kick right now. Just can’t seem to get enough fish tacos. On the way back from Tahoe, I was stuck in traffic and super hungry, so pulled over to grab something to eat and let the roads clear out a bit. I stopped at the Nut Tree and drove around and saw the many food options. Even though we have Rubio’s in the South Bay, I decided I wanted to eat here. The fish tacos were calling my name. I ordered the coastal trio, where you get three tacos: the original fish taco(battered and fried), the tilapia taco(I got it blackened, which is a little spicy), and the verde shrimp taco(comes with avocado!). I was given a number and sat at a table to await my food. It took a really really really long time. I’m not sure what the holdup was, but there were a lot of people in the kitchen. Eventually, the server came and apologized for the wait and brought out my tacos, and they came on a real plate. The tacos were yummy — everything tasted pretty fresh. It satisfied my hunger. There’s a self-serve salsa bar, including chipotle, mild, picante, etc), but my coastal trio didn’t come with free chips. The place is very clean. Despite the long wait for my food, the cashier and the server were great and the food tasted good. And my trio was less than $ 10!

I enjoyed my «Coastal Trio» of a fish taco, a shrimp taco, and a tilapia(isn’t that fish also?) taco. Salsas were good and plentiful. Guacamole was surprisingly tasty, but not on the menu for some reason.

Rubio’s is consistently fresh fast food you can count on. They try to freshen up their menu with different preparations every so often and that keeps you coming back. The mango habanero fish tacos are terrific — you can choose grilled or blackened fish. The standard especial taco that I’ve been ordering for a hundred years always hits the spot. This location is excellent for doggies — an outdoor patio where they can be with you, nestled right next to a wood-chipped swath of land to allow for a little leg stretching of the 4-legged ones.

Rubios is one of my daughter’s favorite places to go after school. We both enjoy the fresh ingredients. She usually orders the fish tacos without the spicy sauce. I like that she’s eating something that’s a better alternative to fast food. I enjoy their fish burritos, also without the spicy sauce. They’re happy to specialize orders to accommodate their customers. They have a nice selection of salsa to choose from. There’s outdoor seating available. It’s clean and quick. First of all, there aren’t many mexican food options in Vacaville, so it’s nice to have a place that consistently offers decent fish tacos to fix that craving. I usually opt for the grilled pacific mahi or mahi mahi with mango habanero tacos on a flour tortilla, but their classic fish taco is also pretty good. If you get the two taco plate, you get a side of pinto beans and chips as well, and they have about 4 different salsas to choose from and serve up yourself. Also, look out for Taco Tuesday $ 1.50 fish tacos and Unilocal offers since they have a lot of $ 1 off deals for combo plates when you check-in!
