Long day… went in for a late dinner with the kids after hiking all day. Dinner was great, fast and the staff was awesome!

You can’t be the ambiance. Wish I was a local and could make this place my bar. The staff can’t be beat. I’m newly pregnant and they comped me mock tails all night to celebrate. Our waiter helped us order some amazing food(and showed us how to eat our crab legs lol). Price is right, during Shoulder Season, especially.

Ok so if you are looking for great food at amazingly great prices for anything in the vail area, this is it. I was told this by some folks down in Edwards, and The George did not disappoint. In an area where it’s tough to find a steak for under $ 30, The George is serving up surf and turf(crab legs and a surprisingly tender sirloin) for $ 23! — what?! Happy hour lasts until 9pm — what?! $ 4.75 drinks, $ 9 appetizers and $ 19 entrees — seafood, steaks, etc. The place is tucked away underground at the end of a somewhat dingy hallway, and is sort of a «dive» bar and restaurant, but manages to pull it off in a way that just works! Feels incredibly«local». Booths and tables AND couches and TVs. If you at looking to show off your glitz and glamour, don’t bother coming here — no one will care. But if you want good food at cheap prices, with a local vibe, you won’t want to miss this. :)

This was our second annual visit to The George. Last year, while walking up Bridge Street, just off of the shuttle bus, we discovered this place, inside the Mountain Haus condos. Couldn’t believe how reasonable the«surf and turf» steak and crab leg dinners were. The drinks were also very inexpensive. Again, this is Vail; a notoriously expensive vacation destination. Again this year we were not disappointed. We both paid the additional $ 10 to get the fillet instead of the sirloin. Delicious, served with a couple nice crab legs, vegetables and some roasted potatoes. Great, friendly family environment with excellent service. Also enjoyed my $ 4.75 glass of Glenlivet. We will be back.

I don’t know about you, but after a hard powder day, all I’m craving is a good old fashioned burger. The American Classic is apparently very difficult to find in Vail, so I cross-referenced my hand Unilocal app, with the opinions of lifties and other locals. Conveniently located on our walk to the vail village parking garage, we arrived at The George. Down a hallway and beneath a hotel, the bar/restaurant is located in a windowless basement, which turned out to be everything we needed. The place was alive with locals and cheery conversation. It’s was also happy hour, which apparently means the best après ski deals in Vail! All drinks were $ 4.75… And I mean ALL of them. All regular menu items were $ 9 or less, and all entrees were $ 19 with the exceptions of the surf n turf, filet minon, and crab legs, which were all $ 23. What?! With my mind set on a beer and a burger, I was pleasantly surprised that the party was large, and molded by hand with a tasty spiciness, and topped with an oozy cheese and thick, crisp bacon. Next time I’m in Vail, I will 100% be coming back!

Fantastic. The best $$ you’ll spend in Vail. Remember all those $ 85 ribeyes you’ve bought apres ski? The $ 11 draft beers? The obnoxious crowds you had to fight for a watered down manhattan? Not this place. Your favorite dive bar, with kid friendly food, bizarre and eclectic wall art, and an extra helping of chips for your salsa and guac. Happy hour till 9, and an unbelievable price point on everything. Feed a family of 6, including alcohol, appetizers, and top notch steak, duck, and crab for $ 120. Get here around 6/6:30, and grab a booth on the left side of the place. You’ll be glad you did.

This place is hidden underneath a hotel down a hallway. There’s no patio for apres ski where you can watch people walking in from their day while drinking overpriced drinks. Nope, this place is better — it is dark, it is divey, it is hidden. MYTYPEOFPLACE. We came here and sat at the bar one night after dinner and had some after dinner drinks. Vodka sodas, doubles(without being asked)…we each had 2 rounds and the prices were DOWNRIGHTFUCKINGREASONABLE. Not just for Vail, for ANYWHERE. The place was full of locals mostly — it seemed everyone knew everyone else. Bartenders quick and efficient. Saw one of them cut a guy off because he was too drunk… then(after we helped the guy fill out his credit card tab) told him bye by name and said«see you next time». Jukebox(I think?) playing mostly 90s and 00s jams, think rap and rock. We also met another bartender that works there while she was working at another place and she was festive so I am sure she’s an awesome bartender too. Apparently this place also has super reasonable food that is tasty… our friends went and ate there another night and loved it. I loved this place and wish I had been more energetic at night to visit more than once. Come to The George if you like dives — this is the only one in Vail that I could find that came close.

Great place. Crab legs like you have never seen. We have been here over 10 times winter and summer. One of our favorites. Laid back. Super casual. Even the steaks are good.

Don’t come here. Ever. Go to somewhere else for apres ski, like one of those nice sunny patios with too few seats and iced down drinks. Ignore the chalkboard at the bridge that promises cheap drinks and solid cheap eats. Why? Because if you come here, then I will have one more competitor for these comfortable easy chairs in a warm basement full of tired skiers, nice servers, and so much delicious crab. And you might eat all the crab, and I will cry. This is definitely my new go-to place for when I’m in town.

From Plum Duck to Poutine, it’s all good. One of the most underrated kitchens in our small Vail Valley. The surf and turf is a great go to, If you are questioning crab legs in an English Pub, don’t. They get the same crab legs as everyone else in town and cook them right every time. They even have some menu variations on their surf and turf that are worth the extra money. The Plum Duck is one of my favorites, Good crispy skin and tender meat, fresh steamed veggies and spring rolls. There are some good smaller bites as well, the sashimi is a good snack while you are having a couple of apres cocktails and the Poutine is a great snack for those looking for some more substantial snacks. The sheppards pie is a winter staple and since the menu is seasonal, that sheppards pie gives way to some lighter dishes for the summer. It is hard to forget that you are at a bar but, that is part of the charm. Everyone in the place is friendly from the patrons to the staff. The seating area is large and full of comfy chairs and couches, you never know who you might sit share a couch with. It could be some long time locals or an athlete that is in town getting some surgery done, or another tourist from half way around the world. If you like crowds, the après ski crowd is a lot of fun, and the late night crowd is good rowdy fun. If you are looking for a little quieter time, go in around seven and you can generally find a seat to grab a bite. In the summer, it is a great local spot where you can avoid crowds and enjoy the cool of the basement.

Definitely a local’s spot! It’s underground in a hotel, but only a little sign by the covered bridge makes its presence evident. The casual tourist would never waste their time exploring this underground establishment. However, because of its FABULOUSPRICES, all locals go there. There’s almost always a wait unless you get there before 6pm for dinner. If there’s a line, you can always wait by the bar and sip on some $ 4.50 cocktails during happy hour… all drinks(beer, wine, cocktails) are that price until 10pm. The food is also discounted until 10pm. There’s also pool tables and other games to play while you wait. It has a total dive bar feel. Not the cleanest inside with dirty floors and spray painting on the walls. If you’re looking for a fancy night on the town, this is NOT your place. But if you’re looking for cheap drinks and great food. I highly recommend The George. FOODRECOMMNDATIONS: 1. MUSTMUSTMUST order duck and mushroom quesadilla!!! One of he best dishes I’ve ever eaten. It’s huge and greasy though — not an appetizer unless you have like 8 people. 2 people could share for dinner. 2. Of course the $ 231lb crab legs. Won’t find a better deal on Alaskan King crab legs anywhere in town 3. The $ 23 surf & turf. Always a great staple and great deal. Sooo much food though. 4. The burger — huge burger with bacon and grilled onions. What more could you ask for? FYI — YOUMUSTBEOVER21ORUNDER15 to get in. Yes that’s correct. Anyone who looks over 15 but doesn’t have an ID is not allowed inside even though this establishment has a restaurant.

Drunken galoots on one side and bougie winos on the other. We were the latter. Well at least I was. If you look to your the right you have pool tables, foosball, and booze. Turn to the left and you can find tables of well groomed gents ordering crab legs and wine. What an awesome place! If you’re looking to find some ladies don’t get your hopes up. We’ve been there 3 to 4 times and it’s always been 90% dudes. If that’s your thing then slap your wingman’s tushie and yell JACKPOT! We had a blast! What’s more fun than crab legs and Jäger Bombs? Not much my good man. Not much.

I tried to go here this evening to eat dinner with my 18 year old son and was denied entry because of his age! We were told by the guy working the door that the owner does not allow 16 – 20 year olds into the place —not even with a parent to eat!!! If I’m not mistaken, this is discriminatory and illegal. Completely unacceptable for a public establishment. I had to give it at least one star in order to post the review, or else it would get NONE!

Been here several times, and love it. Vail is known to be a very expensive place. Georges not only defy’s that but it is also a cool place to hang out. It is more of a locals place than a ritzty tourist place, it is in a basement after all. But if you want some serious good grub and cheap drinks after a long day on the hill, this is the place to check out. Happy hour is 3 – 6 and the crab legs are the best deal in the valley.

Casual, laid-back dark pub, a fun place to hang out and eat after a long day on the snow(or if you just want a casual, tasty meal at any time!) Duck quesadilla — 5 stars. Delicious. Fish & chips — 4 stars. The fish was crispier than I expected. Yum. Crab mac & cheese — 3 stars. Stop by during happy hour if you can — discounted appetizers and drinks!

We went here last night since the main place we wanted to go was full. I’m so happy it was full because we really enjoyed eating here. First and foremost the service and our waiter was spectacular. And the food was great too. I recommend the Plum Duck.

The George is not at all fancy… And to me, that’s refreshing in Vail! We were looking for a laid back place to watch sports and knew The George would hit the spot. $ 22 for a lb of crab legs! Yessss! I never even look at the menu because I know it’s always going to be this. It comes with fresh steamed veggies and fried potato wedges. It’s enough to share, but you may want to order extra veggies or a salad. The atmosphere is fun and eclectic. Fun place to hang out with a group of friends and definitely a hot spot for the locals.

My wife and extended family enjoyed a great happy hour meal and drinks at the George. The ambiance, cleanliness and the professionalism of the staff deserved four stars. The food was at a three and a half star level. We orders the mushroom and duck quesadilla and the regular green chili quesadilla. Theses two menu items were the best! We also got the grill ahi tuna and the spring roles… we felt they were subpar at the most and both had very minimal flavor. However, we do recommend the happy hour drink specials $ 4.50…any drink!

Closest thing this town has to a dive bar. They’re so British the fish & chips even comes with peas! Great place to go when you want happy hour of cheap drinks from 6 – 10. Also great for when you just want some freakin’ pub food in a laid-back spot.

Our experience at The George was less than great. After arriving, we asked to wait for a booth. They told us it would be a while. We waited at the bar. Not a big deal. When they did seat my boyfriend and I, they brought us water. One of the waters had a bug in it. We brought it to the attention of our server, Kevin. He then proceeded to provide us with the worst service I have ever experienced. When our meals came, we had to flag him down to get silverware. He spoke with every table around us and simply ignored us. We had to basically jump in front of him as he whizzed past us to ask for another beer. The food was really good. I had the crab leg special and my boyfriend had suck and turf. Excellent food. Not sure why we were treated so poorly after finding a bug in our water. This service was the worst I have ever experienced. Great job with the service recovery(not!). This was a special night out for my boyfriend and I and thanks Kevin for really ruining a nice meal.
