My dad and I stopped by Picnicky’s for lunch on our way home from the Bay Area. I found Picknicky’s on Unilocal and so we gave them a try. The place was fairly crowded — it was lunch time. I couldn’t decide which sandwich to get so I made my own: turkey and cheese with avocado on Dutch Crunch. My Dad ordered one of their speciality sandwiches. The service was fast and the sandwiches were HUGE. I only ate half of mine before I was full(saved the other half for lunch the next day). Picknicky’s reminded me a lot of the sandwich chain Mr. Pickle’s. Which is a good thing — the bread was fresh and had great crunch, they give you lots of meat on your sandwich, and the toppings are abundant as well. Overall, a good sandwich spot next time I’m passing through the area.

Delicious sandwiches with a wide variety of meats, cheeses, and breads to choose from. Generous portions and always made to order. You can upgrade to a meal deal and get a drink and choice of chips or salad(potato salad, macaroni salad, deviled eggs, jalapeño cilantro slaw, etc.). Literally, my only complaint is I wish they stayed open later(they close at 6pm).

We ordered three sandwiches to sample them for the first time and split them in to 4 equal parts the first was tuna, how can anyone mess tuna up? Next was turkey let’s just say no body even touched the third sandwich. Horrible!

BESTSANDWICHES, if you are looking for a really good deli sandwich, this is it. You can easily share, they are BIG sandwiches. Lots of toppings. Customer service is awesome too they are very nice and the place is clean. My boyfriend loved the Reuben. he said it was really good, he loved the dressing he said it made it authentic. They have sprouts too. The only thing i could possibly suggest is that you have homemade salads after many years of being a deli worker. You know if its homemade with one bite. The coleslaw was different but pretty good. The pulled pork and slaw sandwich was super delish. My family is still raving about your deli. Thankyou

The sandwiches are mediocre at best. If you think you’ll get your food quickly, think again, expect to wait about 20 – 25 minutes for two sandwiches. My sandwich had tomatoes even though I asked them to hold the tomatoes and the bacon was so undercooked that I had to pick it out bc I thought I was chewing on the paper that wrapped my sandwich. Cute name though.

First time being there the sandwiches or basic good thing about the sandwiches they give you an option of a garlic spread the garlic spread is the best thing going you can probably bottle it up and sell it for about 25 bucks each

A Vallejo original sandwich shop. The sandwiches are large, and could be shared between two not so hungry people, or eaten by one very hungry person. Sandwiches average about $ 8 with some specialty sandwiches being more. I’ve tried the Caveman, Sausalito, corned beef, roast beef, and others. Great tasting, savory bites. Love their thick pickle slices(pause). They also have stamp cards, something like 10 sandwiches gets you a free one. Something that irks me about this place is one time I ordered their sandwich of the day, which changes daily and is at a discounted price, and when I checked my credit card statements later, it appeared that they charged my card full price for the sandwich($ 8). I thought it was bad business to do this, as I assumed they knew their special for the day and discount it appropriately. I did not feel like going back to the place to dispute $ 1.50, as I am not a petty man, but it did rub me the wrong way when I found out. Between this place and Food Basket, they have more ingredients and meat choices, so it is the better of the two.

After we moved away from The City, my wife and I were totally despairing because we would be moving away from the best sandwich shops and into unknown territory in Vallejo. Of course, we we very familiar with our sandwiches so a lot of places either did not meet or barely met our expectations. So when Picknicky’s opened up in our town, of course we were excited! Reading the Facebook reviews from buddies, they were totally stoked and enamored with the place. I had to try this spot. With that said, Picknicky’s was also going to be held to a very high standard. First reaction to the place when I walked in was this it was very clean and pristine. The walls were white and adorned with knick knacks similar to other sandwich shops. There were picnic style tables and stools against the wall. The decorations totally give you the nostalgic feeling. Oh, I also forgot to mention that I came here after working graveyard shift so everything looked good to me LOL! The girl who greeted me was rather cordial. I mentioned that I was ecstatic that they had opened up considering that I hadn’t found a decent sandwich shop since leaving SF. She then proceeded to tell me that the owner of Picknicky’s was a very, very big fan of one of my Top 3 sandwich places, Little Lucca. If you’ve heard of that spot, then you know what I’m talking about!!! So he was such a big fan that he wanted to create his own version of LL’s signature spreads. The girl had me from there. Their menu looked a bit average and thought that it was a bit lacking. But I did see the Caveman, so I went for that, got everything on it as I would usually order from any sandwich shop, and grabbed some chips and a drink. There was also a fridge across from the cash register which housed some salads and such. I paid my balance and ate the sandwich at home. Honestly, if you haven’t been to the sandwich spots in SF, I think Picknicky’s will sate your sandwich appetite just fine. Their items are a bit pricey and a little on the skinny side, but that’s coming from someone who has had the ginormous sandwiches for about the same price in SF. Taste wise, they come really close to emulating LL’s spreads, but my sandwich turned out a bit watery and drippy. I’ve been here twice and both times that’s been my experience. Flavor is decent but not earth shattering. I’ll consider them again if I’m in their immediate vicinity…

The ratio of sauerkraut to corned beef was way off on the Reuben. I felt like I was eating a sauerkraut sandwich. Other than that it is a good sandwich place.

As a sandwich lover, I would go so far to say that you will never be unhappy with any sandwich you get at Picinicky’s. Before I discovered this place I thought I only had the option of Ike’s in SF, Oakland or Concord. But as it turns out Picinicky’s is actually a better sandwich shop all around. I have lived in New York and visited many deli’s and I would rate the quality of freshness in each sandwich they either create or let you create, as well as the quality of ingredients, the freshness of the meats and veggies and finally that freakin house made pepper sauce to not only be as good but maybe even better. Yes, its a $ 10 sandwich, but listen, its THAT good. It is THAT good! Go there, get a sandwich, don’t skimp and look at their sides too. This is a refreshing newcomer to Vallejo.

I found this place by accident. I was craving a sandwich so I was searching looking for places near me and this is one of the places that showed up. I had no idea this place was even out here, so I gave them a try. I got a pastrami sandwich on Dutch crunch bread with everything and man was it good!!! I will definitely be back. Oh and for the lady working today, she was so helpful I told her it was my first time there and she help me pick the best sandwich for me

I love their sandwiches here! The only downside is they don’t have soup. But back to the sandwiches, they are amazing! I have had several and cannot choose a favorite so far… this week’s fave is El Chavo! I like to have both spreads(the garlic and the pepper one) on mine, they add so much flavor and a little oomph! So yummy with the havarti cheese instead of american, but u choose that’s just how I roll! And the size, they are huge! Great value for the price, any baller on a budget will agree! Do yourself a favor and get their house made tropical tea/lemonade and chips for $ 2 more, so worth it!

Talk about CUTE! This shop makes me wish I lived in it, or could borrow the style eye of whoever adorned each area so perfectly. Staff is friendly, sandwiches are scrumptious. They apologize for the wait but to that I say– Good things come to those who wait! ;) I prefer my food to not be made in a rush any how. The special spreads they make put them on the map for me!

Their sandwiches are really good! Some say it’s pricey, but the sandwich is big enough to save half for later. Their speciality sandwiches are pretty bomb — especially the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw! I would definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a good sandwich. Aside from the basics, they have a garlic spread and hot pepper spread which adds flavor and a little kick. You can also request to have your sandwich toasted.

Finally… a good sandwich in Vallejo! We ordered and shared the Caveman(roast beef, mesquite turkey, pastrami & cheddar with everything) on a dutch crunch with a side pickle. It’s by far the best sandwich in Vallejo. Customer service is as good as you can get and the house tea was nice and sweet. Picnicky’s is officially our go-to sandwich spot for Vallejo/Benicia.

PIcnicky’s Sandwich Shop is small, lacks real deocr, has relative cheap sammies(no tax charge). fast service, make ur own sammie or go with«named» specialities. eats: the Italian(8.25, not tax) –standard provolone, mozzarrella, pepperoncinis, mortadella, salami, bologna, etc. –bread seem average, came out of clear plastic bags –½ sammie had lots of veggies, fatty meats, other half lots of meats, very salty 3ish stars. crumbs: –Picincky’s close to Phở #1, Bob’s burger, seafood center a block away. –parking’s available though not at first glance. –meats, cheeses all cold, not pleasant eating, tummy not happy. –pricing good value, quality/saltiness an issue. –inside seating available.

With the departure of Dillon Bread Co., quite possibly the best place to get a sandwich in Vallejo. Subway doesn’t count because 1) Subway is a chain and 2) it’s only good for feeding to birds(and even then, that bread is an insult to birds.) So this new spot along Sonoma Blvd occupies the space which used to be known as Philippine Grocery, an old school Vallejo spot that I remember oh so fondly from my childhood. Many a Yan-Yan was purchased here. And who could forget the time my mom locked her keys in the car and we needed to use the nearby phone booth to call AAA. Ah, the good ol days. But I digress. Fast forward to the present day. Name the least like occupants to be in this space and I promise you that sandwich spot would have been my last guess(next to robot factory.) Upon my first arrival… Not going to lie, I’m a bit annoyed. It’s well into lunchtime and the line is somewhat lengthy. Still, I decide to wait it out as I’ve done for many other establishments. Already, I can see their sandwich assembly team is hard at work, which is awesome. About 15 minutes passes by and I finally order, at this point happy to finally be placing an order. The girl at the counter is friendly and takes my order quickly(pastrami with everything and cream havarti on dutch crunch.) Sandwich itself is about $ 8 and an additional $ 2.50 for chips and a drink. Not bad. About 5 minutes later and my sandwich comes out. It’s of considerable size as well. Maybe a foot long? Somewhere in that neighborhood. I unwrap it and see that it’s packed quite nicely with meat, cheese, veggies, and their garlic spread. I bite into it and I am beyond impressed. Other than something I could make at home, this is the best sandwich I’ve had in Vallejo. It’s hearty, down to the last bite. And the garlic spread really sets the sandwich off. I love garlic and this was perfect. So all in all, you’ll have to wait awhile, but you’re guaranteed to get a really good sandwich. That being said, I do hope they find a way to be able to service customers a little more quickly. Oh, and maybe get contactless payment working. I tried, but to no avail. But those are minor nitpicks. I really enjoyed my food and experience here. The owner seems like a friendly guy as well. I will definitely keep coming back and supporting this joint. You should too.
