This spot is good for a nice sushi craving with affordable 50% sushi option. The service could be better but over all liked the food and the Lychee mojito was great.

This place has really bad service. There’s a really nasty person who answers the phone and sounds like he hates his job and doesn’t want to be there. Curses at customers. Catches an attitude with people like he doesn’t want you’re business. Really wouldn’t recommend this place.

Save yourself the time and money by taking your appetite somewhere else. The host is pushy and down right rude, by telling customers«not to order from the buffet”(which is $ 18 per person) because they don’t want you to waste the food, but to order from the half price sushi menu. The food is less than quality, tasteless, and unappealing. I wouldn’t be surprised if they reserved food brought back to the kitchen and I came down with a case of food poisoning. This place deserves a negative star rating!!!

There should be an option for no stars. I’ve never commented about restaurants on Unilocal before. My experience tonight at Tobiko in Valley Stream sadly has inspired this post. The treatment of management and wait service of me and my family was so beyond horrendous that it merits this honest feedback. First, I want to preface this by saying my intention tonight was to celebrate and applaud my nephew, who lives in Valley Stream, on the occasion of his high school graduation. I was surrounded by people I love most and was happy to make the 2 hour drive(bad traffic) to eat at this place. I’m 5 – 1 and weigh 95 pounds. Those who know me know I don’t overeat and so I was conscious of not over ordering despite the«All You Can Eat» option that we as a party of 11 chose tonight. I ordered two rolls — both of which were awful. But I was trying to be a sport. So I ate as much as I could. When I failed to eat the outer seaweed on three of the pieces, the waitress took my plate, raised it to my face and reprimanded me for not finishing my food. I’m not one for conflict. At first I looked at her like she was kidding. But then she kept going on — pointing her finger at my face as though I were a 5 year old. My sister called someone whom we assumed was the manager to express her displeasure at how the woman was speaking to us. Rather than apologize and appease, the manager escalated the situation. Then a man behind the concierge counter came over, and then another older gentleman to reinforce the first. It was as if someone had activated def-con on the diminutive woman who didn’t eat the outer seaweed. All of them failed to apologize for the the fact that a wait staff took a plate and raised it to a customer’s face in reprimand. After the situation was somewhat defused, the same waitress took the sign on the table and again decided to put it in my face. This is when I lost it and told her to take her hand out of my face. I wondered for a moment if the lady and the management felt it easier to reproach me in this way because I’m a petite Asian myself. I’m loath to consider race as a factor in human choices and behavior. But the ferocity with which they approached me and our table was underpinned by a condescension that I’ve only ever experienced because of my race — or my gender. Would they have felt so emboldened to raise a plate and point their fingers at, say, a 6 – 3 Caucasian man? That two of the gestapo from this establishment felt it appropriate to follow me as I walked into a waiting car and yell at me to leave was beyond the code of hospitality that most restaurateurs subscribe to. It was downright harassment. And it was scary and wrong. If you want to be treated like a human being when you’re dining, then my recommendation is to never eat at Tobiko in Valley Stream. The food was subpar and the service was atrocious. I only wish I had read other reviews on Unilocal that attest to similar horrendous treatment.

The honey back ribs are good, the teriyaki is good but the service is lousy. Don’t eat here unless you plan on licking your plate clean! They will pester you for every last bite and continuosly warn you that if you don’t eat everything they will charge you for the plate(all you can eat menu). The waitress practically took the plate and shoved it to my sister’s plate telling her to finish everything! My sister ate most of her meal yet they wanted her to finish every last bite! What’s worse is they lack leadership in management! Instead of trying to diffuse the situation they make it worse! I thought the customer was always right? Skip this restaurant. Worst service I have ever seen!

So I came here last night it was pretty good. The guy at the desk was pretty nice and was able to assist us with what to order. So today which is Sunday afternoon we came back again, however there’s a lady there. She’s no help at all, I’m asking her for a suggestions in regards to a shrimp dinner for family. She tells me I don’t know I have to read it. Really how do not know … N telling a customer they have to read the menu obviously, I read the menu and I was able to find what I needed. So I asked for her help. Listen I hardly come here and when I do I come with good vibes but seriously this later made me feel I would not return here again. Thing is they don’t care how it she doesn’t care how she treats the customer. Just because work the front register doesn’t mean you act like that. Get more familiar with your menu so your able to assist the customers

I have been here a few times and never had a problem with the food or the service but today was a different story. I came here with my sister for lunch. The waiter first asked us if we would pay with cash or credit and we both said we would pay with credit. My sister ordered the salmon teriyaki box and I ordered the red snapper entrée. When they bought out our food, they gave her shrimp instead of salmon. We told him she specifically said salmon and even pointed to the option on the menu when ordering. The waiter was a very tall slim Asian man with blondish hair. He looked at us with a confused look and stood there with nothing to say. He then proceeded to say he wrote shrimp to which we told him it is not our fault you wrote the wrong order. He then had the nerve to say that the salmon has a «smell» and that it is better for her to eat the shrimp. Who does that? Not only is he being rude and inattentive to our needs but he is pretty much telling us that their salmon is no good. We then told him we still wanted the salmon to which he change the order and brought it out. By the way, the salmon had NO smell. He obviously said that to get us to NOT change the order. The red snapper entrée was also not very good. Then came the time to pay. The waiter came to us with a bill and the entrees said cash in bracket but I ignored it thinking it was his mistake. We then put our cards in to pay and when he came to take it from us he said we told him we would pay with cash. We both are obviously not crazy if we both remember saying credit! He then went to the cash register and mumbled something rude in his language and I know he was talking about us because he mentioned the word cash and was very angry and continued to talk about it with the other waiters and the manager. He then came back with the cards and bill to which he said there is a minimum charge of $ 15 per card and that our bill was lower than that so we can’t use 2 cards. Again, he has no idea what he is doing because our bill was about $ 34 and change. He kept going back to the manager sitting in the corner and asking him what to do and came back to say you can use 2 cards. I then asked him to speak to the manager, he went to the other man and said something to him and came back to me to say«well I am the manager, soo» with serious attitude. Not only did he not care about his customers but he was rude and disrespectful so say the least. Never have I ever been treated this way for no apparent reason. If a waiter makes a mistake, he should own up to his mistake. It is not the customers fault if they do not know how to do their job. What a disgrace this place is and what a rude and unprofessional staff they have. I refuse to come back here again and I will make sure my friends and family go elsewhere. I wish I could give 0 stars for their service.

Let’s just simply say, the staff is horrible and rude. I used to come here very often with my siblings, but now it is safe to say I am never coming back. The waiter that was taking care of my table was completely rude. I would tell you the whole story, but my sister already covered that end. If I could, I would give this disgusting restaurant a 0 ! It’s funny now that see everyone else’s reviews about this place, because it is all TRUE. I’d avoid this place without a doubt.

Tobiko has since become my go to sushi and lunch destination. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. I always get sushi which is 50% off or order from their lunch menu which is cash only for the lunch price. I highly recommend the Spring Jamie, Rocket and Six Flags Rolls. The front desk staff is awesome and I enjoy coming here. I visit at least twice a week.

After almost a year, I got convinced to try this place again. Service has actually gotten even worse if that is even possible. I got the buffet and had to wait 40+ minutes for the first plate so my hot sake got cold. I changed my rating from 2 star to 1 star ‘cuz it’s just that bad. We left no tip and the waitress came after us as we left the restaurant asking why. My response — «Service is bad. I’m not coming back.» No more for me. Good luck to those that ignore the reviews here.

I used to love this place Because the sushi is good and cheap but after the experience I had ordering delivery, I’ll never give them any business again. The guy wanted my PIN over the phone to charge the order and was incredibly rude to me when I wouldn’t give it to him. A half priced California role isn’t worth it.

I’ve been going to Tobiko for over a year for lunch or dinner. You can say I frequently go there every week! The women who work there are friendly and helpful with service :-) The men are rude and unwelcoming. I just walked in as a regular customer going to one of the many empty tables. The guy in the front was extremely rude and when I asked him if there was a problem, he negatively spoke back to me. He should be fired. As a regular customer who gives them constant business I felt treated very poorly walking in and getting an attitide. I will not go back there unless I receive an apology on Unilocal. Always give your customers respect and courtesy. Sad I actually liked their sushi :(

Let’s start by I’ve been here in the past. Service has gone down the drain. I had asked for a salmon avocado and the salmon was brown, I asked the waitress to remove it from my plate that the salmon was bad. She argued that is was good, she then told the other waiter to tell me I had to pay for it since I didn’t eat it.(I would never eat bad sushi) I had the all you can eat sushi for $ 17.99 and they wanted to charge me for the bad roll I refused to eat. Finally I told them I was not going to pay them for food I did not touch. And the waiter gave in. Such a fight over brown salmon they should be ashamed they even served it. Stay away from here and good luck if you go.

UNBELIEVABLEWHATHAPPENED!!! FOOD: *** SERVICE: * The wife and I decided to try the ‘all you can eat menu’, which is $ 17.99 per person. The food is decent. Exactly what you expect for a place that has an ‘all you can eat’ sushi menu. The service on the other hand, YIKES. Everything was going well until Wifey asked for the check. The waiter came over and told us «first finish, then check.» We assumed he thought we meant to bring us the check once we cleared out plates. So my wife and I sat and talked for a few minutes and then asked again for the check. The waiter literally told us «First finish your food!» I stared at him with a look of anger and disbelief. Who the fuck is this oriental guy telling me to finish my food? He then proceeds to tell us he will have to CHARGEUSFOREVERYPIECEOFTHESUSHIROLLLEFTONOURPLATE. I ordered two rolls(12 pieces) and had two pieces left over(one from each roll). My girlfriend ordered two rolls and had three pieces left over(two from one roll, one from another). He told us that each unfinished piece would cost us one dollar!!! FIVEEXTRADOLLARSFORLESSTHANHALF A SUSHIROLL. To add insult to injury ALLWEORDERED from the ‘all you can eat’ menu was: 2 kani salads, 1 shrimp shumai, and 4 sushi rolls. I then asked to speak to the manager to tell her there was no FUCKING way I would pay that. The manager came over(not directly to us) and spoke with the waiter. The waiter told us(after manager inspected our check) that the restaurant would let it slide this time, but next time they will charge us. JOKESONTHEM, there will be no next time! Insanity. Kind of unfortunate because I liked them for a quick, cheap, sit down Chinese place. In conclusion, if the waiter had just brought the policy of unfinished food to my attention, I probably would’ve eaten there again and just avoided the ‘all you can eat menu’. The fact that the waiter told us to finish our food or he wouldn’t bring our check(LOL, just comical) crossed a line for me. Goodbye Tobiko.

It was a nice experience however.

Beware: NOT family friendly! HORRIBLE Customer Service! Very rude and unprofessional staff. Here’s my story, My family and I went there for dinner on a Friday night. We were greeted by a rude asian lady hostess. Then an non english speaking waiter sat us down then tried to rush us thru the menu shortly afterwards in a obnoxious way. Looking at the menu, it had the most ridiculous rules for the«all you could eat». The waiter implied my 5 year old son had to pay as an adult and asked him to stand up to measure him because one of the rules was in order to be considered a «kid», you have to be 30 – 48 inches. It’s was so uncomfortable and pathetic! I got up and left. Besides the height requirement, you had a 2 hr limit to eat your food. Complained to the manager, but that was like talking to a brick wall and he was douche.

Been here many times and I’ve never ordered from the All You Can Eat menu until today. For $ 17.99 you can order unlimited soup, appetizers, speciality rolls, and entrees. I ordered miso soup, volcano and sunshine roll. Food was fresh and good. The only thing I will say it would be nice to be able to have the sushi with brown rice instead of white rice. I was told with the all you can eat menu you can’t get brown rice. All and all no complaints. I haven’t been disappointed here and I never do.
