After posting the negative review, I spoke with Greg, the Mill Plain Elmer’s restaurant manager. He was very appreciative of my input and promised to use this incident as a learning opportunity in customer service for his staff. Thanks, Greg! I shall return.

Great food, friendly staff. We had a very large group in for mother’s day and the staff were very patient and friendly, they even offered us complimentary starters. The balloon animal lady was a real treat and was very patient with our numerous kids. LOVEDTHEM.

The food is usually pretty good, but you can definitely tell that it’s a chain restaurant. It’s a little pricey for the serving sizes. It’s like one step up from Denny’s or ihop. The service is always great though.

Elmer’s is a lot better than I expected. I’m staying in a motel close by, so the girlfriend and I decided to have a stroll over here to get some breakfast food for dinner. We were seated very quickly, and our drink orders were taken and fulfilled within the first five minutes of our visit. When we finally decided on food, we ordered the bacon avocado burger, French toast, and eggs Benedict. The bacon avocado burger was a mean burger. There was loads of avocado and thick bacon with a nice layer of provolone cheese. Moving forward, the French toast was fantastic. It seemed to be thick sourdough bread with powdered sugar on top with a mound of butter and a pretty cup of syrup on the side. It was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Finally, the eggs Benedict was beautiful, but… the hollandaise sauce didn’t taste like the nice thick and tangy hollandaise I’ve come to love. It was more like melted butter poured over the top. It wasn’t bad, it was really good actually, it just wasn’t hollandaise. That’s the only reason I give Elmer’s four stars, but everything else was great. Our service was amazing. We had constant refills and our server was very timely. If you’re staying in the hotels and motels along the highway side over here, come try this place, it’s really cozy and comforting.

First off the customer service was really bad by our server. The host was sweet and nice but the server was such a rude person. She didn’t engage, didn’t fill our water cups and it’s sad because that’s all she has to do. She doesn’t cook the food. She doesn’t sit us down at a table. Her main job is to take our order and fill our cups. What really got me is when we ask for syrup because she forgot to give us any with the German pancake. The way she looked at us when we ask was so disrespectful. Like forgive me for asking for something that comes with the meal I’m paying for. It wasn’t the best experience and won’t be going there especially if this girl is working.

Elmer’s is one of the best comfort food restaurants around. This place has been here for years and I feel like it has gotten even better over the past decade. Their eggs Benedict is never a bad choice. They have several options but I like the classic Benedict the best. They do have a version with dungeness crab that is outstanding as well! Their pancakes and crepes are also delicious too. They have several varieties but my favorite is the classic blueberry pancake. Elmers has a great French Dip sandwich if you are looking for lunch instead.

Terrible food and even worse service. My «dinner» was ½ a sandwich and a «salad». The sandwich was a BLTA with one piece of bacon, a half tomato, NO lettuce, and gobs of mayo on a roll. It was disgusting. The salad was mostly very large croutons and very small pieces of lettuce mix – maybe 3 forkfuls. This and a drink was $ 16.00! The service was curt and they clearly do not like black people or minorities.

Food was terrible. Not a welcoming place for a vegetarian. Waiter was extremely nice. They put us in a booth that would be hard to get out of for a small toddler. Won’t be coming back.

My family and friends(a group of about 20) came here for lunch following my uncle’s graveside funeral service(and just prior to his church memorial). We called ahead and made a reservation for 12 but they were able to accommodate our much larger group upon arrival. The staff was ready for us and extremely accommodating and prepared to expand the space by adding additional tables so everyone would have space. They brought out complimentary Swedish pancakes and took our order. It couldn’t have been more than 15 – 20 minutes before all ~20 entrees were brought out at once. The food was delicious, the service was superb, I really can’t say enough good things about them on what was otherwise a very hard day for our group. Thank you!

Elmers is a great place for breakfast! The French toast is perfect with the cinnamon vanilla bread and crispy bacon and scrambled eggs. The waffle with banana and blueberries was delicious as well. The waitress from Idaho was super nice and friendly! Coffee is strong and tastes great also. Overall this is a great place for breakfast !!

Elmers is a nice diner. They have a fireplace and meeting/banquet room. If you need a place to grab some food and talk some biz, Elmers is a good choice. the food is good, maybe not the cheapest diner grub, but tasty enough. I meet friends and clients here allot, easy off 205 at Mill Plain.

You might notice that I tend to review places in the burbs a bit. I live in the burbs so for ease of wholesome food I tend to frequent these pseudo corporate style spots. So what’s good at Elmer’s? THELOUNGE!!! This is a place that time forgot about. Everything in this tiny little secret, attached to the main restaurant is straight out of the 80’s and in a good way. Comfy booths and a sunken bar. Try it out. You’ll feel like you’re drinking at your great uncles house with comfort food and bloody Mary’s.

I’ve been here many times, sometimes after a long night with friends or for brunch. Today I came alone to simply experience the seasonal fruit waffle again before it ends 6 – 29 per my server. Service is consistently excellent, as is the food. The décor is dated, but who cares? Save that money to pay the staff a decent wage and keep employees happy!

I really like eating beef, so I was thrilled to discover Elmer’s on Mill Plain, tucked in next to I-205. Now mentally, I’ve always associated Elmer’s as being for elderly people living on social security, so I was a bit nervous about what I would find inside in terms of food quality. As it turned out, their prime rib dinner is an excellent choice and I’ve returned a few times after my initial visit. I haven’t had anything other than the prime rib, so I can’t tell you about their breakfasts or other menu items. But it’s worth the visit for affordable prime rib if you’re in the area. Each time I’ve visited, I’ve been greeted quickly and promptly seated. Drinks are provided quickly. The dinner arrives promptly and the prime rib is tender, juicy, and cooked as requested(medium-rare for me!). The baked potato is hot, which is important, as a luke-warm potato is not acceptable. The staff is friendly and keeps my drink topped off. So, if you’re craving prime rib and don’t want to spend a lot of money, Elmer’s on SE Mill Plain is the place to check out. Sure, you can go to a more expensive restaurant, but the prime rib won’t be better and you’ll pay a lot more.

Since coming home after a long day on the road, husband and I decided to try Elmers. It’s so close to our home, and we’ve been intrigued to try it since moving to Vancouver a little over one month ago. The breakfast items on the menu looked amazing, but we opted to sandwich type of fare. After waiting well over ten minutes to be greeted by our server, we placed our order. Food was just okay. Nothing to write home about. The endless french fries are great if you’re in a gluttonous mood. We probably won’t be back. Probably.

The place, people and food was pretty dang awesome.(And when contrasted to the experience at the Motel 6 across the street, Elmer’s should offer classes in customer service.) We were greeted promptly, the orders were jotted down(a tad slower then I’d expect, but our server was covering the bar as well, so I’ll let it slide), and came out fairly promptly. There was a misstep on the wife’s salad that was quickly remedied, and everything was superb. Good times!

I would like to start off by saying my first experience with elmers was questionable, but boy am I glad that we gave them another shot. Our first visit was on valentine’s day(romantic, I know,) and they were PACKED. and plainly, the food wasn’t any good. But the manager apologized extensively, comping our meals and giving us a gift certificate to return if we chose to. The second visit was a complete 180. Our server was friendly and prompt, as well as being very knowledgeable about the menu so they could provide proper recommendations. I got the crepes and my fiancé got the ranch house burger. I studied French for several years and have mastered my own crêpe recipe. But I was actually impressed. They really were something special. My fiancé said it is one of the best economically priced burgers in the area, and it beats Red Robin hands down. Since then Elmer’s has become a go to place for us! In order of how much I liked them these are the dishes I’ve tried: prime rib(available after 4,) crepes, steak and eggs, Alfredo, and burger! They’re all delicious. But the prime rib is AMAZING. get it with the Yukon gold mashed potatoes, and add gravy. You’ll never be happier lol.
