Great happy hour! Lots of choices, many items in the $ 5 range. Favorites: Ventura Roll(traditional California Roll with cream cheese, stick crab and yam crunch) AND banana tempura ice cream. Very friendly wait staff with a casual beach vibe. Kampai!

GREAT sushi find in Ventura! Came here for late happy hour 8-close,(they also have an early happy hour from 3 – 5). Lots to choose from off the happy hour menu. Some things were discounted more than others but overall a pretty good deal! We decided on 3 different rolls. The Red Dragon, Sunrise and the Crunch Lover. All were delicious, very fresh and flavorful! My favorite was the Crunch Lover. Great deal $ 45 with tip for 3 rolls and 2 large hot sakes and full bellies!

I came here on a whim one day because I was craving sushi, but didn’t feel like spending an arm and a leg for it. Let me tell you, I was NOT disappointed! I’ve already eaten here about 3 times in the past month. Everything was delicious, and very inexpensive. This is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in Ventura.

We just went to Kibo Sushi and now have a new favorite place in town! The fish was so fresh and we loved that the rolls weren’t doused in a mayo sauce. They also have great lunch specials and the service is wonderful. We’ll definitely be returning!!!

On the road, leaving Santa Barbara we decided to stop for our last Seafood lunch. We headed to Ventura and through Unilocal,we found Kibo Sushi, 4 ½ stars out of 5. The area we were not familiar with. When we walked in, again we were a little apprehensive, very dated, a little dark. We sat at the sushi bar. Jay was our Sushi Chef. We ordered Miso soup. Seaweed Salad, Uni Sushi, Salmon sushi, and a Spicy Tuna Roll. The soup, seaweed salad and actual fish/seafood were excellent, my only comment which was shared with the rest of my dinning group was this sushi rice was very salty. Service was excellent, sushi was excellent, very fresh. Moral of the story, don’t always judge a book by its cover.

Excellent food, missed the happy hour but still got a great deal. This was my first time here and I’m always looking for a good sushi place. They have an extensive menu and a bunch of great apps and entrée choices. Good kids menu as well. I had the Mexican roll and Sunrise roll, both were delicious. Calamari was awesome! Looking forward to going back and trying more! The service was excellent as well. Friendly staff, quick ordering and fast turnaround from the kitchen…

Disappointed with the sushi considering the great reviews it had. The sticky rice wasn’t sticky, it was plain steamed rice(still hot) and falling apart. The customer service was poor – took over 20 minutes to get 3 rolls when the place was nearly empty. In addition, we basically had to wave someone down to even get us some service! Would not return again.

Came out my sushi coma for just one moment to say how great Kibo is. We’ve been looking for a new sushi place in Ventura and it appears we have found it. Rolls are huge, tasty, and inventive. Their website is great for takeout. We ordered everything online and picked it up 20 minutes later!

First time here this afternoon… so good! I was bummed I was early for Happy Hour, but I was so hungry I wasn’t going to wait around. It was late afternoon and pretty much had the entire place to myself, which was nice. It was quiet, too. All pluses to me to so far! I ordered the Philly roll with a side of spicy mayo. Soooooooo good! The cream cheese was so flavorful, went so well with the salmon. And I really like their spicy mayo. Some places are too spicy and I can’t enjoy it as an accent to my roll. Theirs is great! I’ll time my next trip so I FORSURE make their happy hour. Right when the bell struck 3PM people started coming in in droves… so that only means one thing! The service was fine enough, and the only my reason why this review isn’t 5 stars is because the bathroom floor was very sticky. I’ll let that slide because maybe a customer had just messed it up, who knows. Regardless, a great sushi restaurant!

Horrible service! We waited 15mins for someone to take our order, then we waited 40 mins for another waiter to come ask us if anyone had taking our order… never going back

Was pleasantly surprised! My friends and I were starving at the beach(lets not get technical or political) one Saturday afternoon and was craving sushi. Particularly, two friends were craving deep fried oysters– which was surprisingly hard to find at the local sushi restaurants. This place has deep fried oysters! We ordered the deep fried oysters(product placement at its finest), fresh salmon sashimi, seared albacore, volcano roll, seaweed salad, fresh water eel roll, and halibut :). The baked volcano roll w/eel in place of crab(my creation) was very delicious! The salmon sashimi was fresh, delicate, silky-smooth, and mild tasting– very, very good! The seared albacore was so flavorful… no words– just enjoyed. The food was all fresh and well flavored. It’s also impressive to note: the dishes served were brought to the table looking exacting like the menu photos. We were impressed and slightly taken aback. This place delivers really good sushi, easy communication and good service. It’s very hard to find decent sushi restaurants in the best of areas. Definitely not the most aesthetically pleasing structure(outside, nor inside) or location. There is a decent amount of parking within the lot, but we visited during off-peak hours and was finishing just as it started getting crowded. With that stated– I sometimes find added joy in finding great food and decent service in not so «attractive» establishments… Aka hidden gems. If in the area and a fan of fresh sashimi, seaweed salad, clear communication(all of my allergy prone bros and sisters alike understand the importance), and a relaxed setting you should try this place.

Most of the servers are very friendly and very prompt, with the exception of one or two. I’ve never had a bad sushi roll here, but I still have yet to be blown away. I do, however, really enjoy the Snow Roll. It’s quite unique, as it comes with feta cheese on top. Definitely give it a try. Well worth a visit.

Unilocal does it again! Picked another home run hitter! Kibo Sushi rocked it at their happy hour! Great prices, FRESH quality food/sushi(quantity too!). Sake and such awesome. Happy hour menu selection diverse with many choices. As we drove to the restaurant the neighborhood we noticed it wasn’t upscale and just a rag-tag, mish-mash of businesses so we we’re questioning the reviews but forged on. It was a beautiful, sunny blue skied day in Ventura — and feeling a bit adventurous. Found Kibo Sushi’s location and on a Monday around 3:30/4:00pm — easily found parking. We went in to sit at the patio — but it was a little stark. Could use some warming up of plants and such. So we sat at the sushi bar w/relatives from New York. The sushi chefs were nice, friendly and skilled. Between the chefs at the sushi bar and in the kitchen(the calamari, mussels/quail eggs on the ½ shell & spicy soy beans were to die for) and the waitress’ service… everything was«spot on» and food came in a timely matter. The bill at the end made me feel like we got our hard earned monies worth and more! They have TWO happy hours periods… 3−5pm and a late night happy hour. Call to find out times for the late night happy hour. Although we live in Westlake Village — we will definitely hop in our car and make the return trip for some more yummy KIBOSUSHI because it is WORTH the drive! Arigato!; D

Sushi places can be so overrated. I had: Tuna & shrimp nigiri Salmon sashimi Cucumber Roll Miso Soup Everything was standard and plain and not worthy of 4.5 stars. Service was spotty. Nah.

Solid. Dinnertime happy hour is nice. Ambience is eh and service is fine, but nothing special, so I’m just averaging the dishes we tried. Hot Night roll was delicious. Kevin ‘s Special is alright and different, two distinct flavors in one roll which is kind of cool. But was hard to eat and not that tasty. Calamari was ridiculously good. Very light perfectly crispy batter, great dipping sauce. Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice was so-so Sexy shrimp, sweet and spicy, great flavor, no texture. Fried but so drowned in sauce it wasn’t crispy anymore. Tamago sushi, good. Not as tender as others.

Loved this place. My dad goes here all the time and is a vip customer. They always treat him very well and bring him free food. We went there with him the other night and it was happy hour Saturday. Definitely get your money’s worth. I had no complaints.
