Custom Cake Shoppe

Just placed my order with them. Haven’t even received it yet but I’m giving it 5 stars because the customer service was excellent! I am a huge stickler when it comes to customer service so that just made my day. I came in with only a general idea of what I wanted for my nephew’s birthday cake and they helped guide me in the right direction. To top it all off, the cakes I was able to taste test were amazing. I feel confident that when I go to pick up my order, it’ll be everything I’m looking for!
Update: Got my cake and it was tasty, though I felt the craftsmanship on some of the cake elements could have been better. The Star Wars cake I ordered was nice however, I would have liked for the light sabers to have all been the same length and the painting of the characters was not as neat as I would have like it to have been. I would order from there again but maybe something a little less complex.

We used Custom Cakes for our wedding reception. We ordered cupcakes and a 6 inch came, strawberry white almond and chocolate. Everything was perfect! Very nice people, they delivered to our reception on our time. Highly recommend!

Had a cake emergency, and needed a smash cake in three hours. At that point I was seriously about to give up on finding a cake. (The original person bailed on me the day I needed) I decided to try one more place and I drove past custom cakes. I went in and told them what happened and asked if they could possibly do it. They told me they would squeeze it in even though they were already like two weeks booked in advanced. Not only did they make me the cake in time of need, they exceeded my expectations on the cake. It came out gorgeous! It looked amazing for my daughters first birthday pictures! On top of that, it was DELICIOUS. I’m not even a cake eater, I personally hate cake. But I was eating that cake! I will deff use custom cakes for any kind of cakes I need in the future! & I recommend them to everyone! Thank you so much custom cakes!!!

This review is pre wedding, but my fiancé and I are so excited about our upcoming cake and cupcakes that I felt compelled to post.
The cake shop is quaint, but the women who work there are so friendly and so low-​pressure that it made it so easy to choose this place as our bakery for the wedding next year.
They have flavors ready to taste and goodness was that cake moist and delicious! And we never heard the word «No» when throwing out design ideas. Prices seem comparable and not through the roof.
I’m excited!

Custom cake shop is probably one of the best and least known cake shops in Virginia Beach. I would say personally way better than sugar plum and bliss bakery. I had first used custom cake shop a few years back for my sons 7^th birthday he wanted a Yoda cake and it came out perfect. I also decided to use them for my wedding this past weekend the cake came out absolutely perfect my wife and I couldn’t have been any happier it was totally hassle free and the price was great!!! The best part is they delivered our wedding cake to where we’re getting married for free! Like I said totally hassle free for a great price I will definitely be going back to custom cake for any celebration!!!

I can’t say enough wonderful things about this place. From the time I was 2 till 22, every birthday cake I ever had came from this place and it was always fantastic! After moving several times with the military, I have yet to find a place that is even remotely comparable to the bar set by Custom Cake. Just walking in the door, you know how good the cake will be from the delicious smell that radiates through the shop. I seriously cannot wait to be back in the Hampton Roads area so I can order a cake!

We ordered a cake for my daughter’s birthday and everything about this place was fantastic. The owner truly knows about customer service she was an absolute delight to deal with. Her cake samples were to die for. They were by far the best tasting samples we had. They delivered the cake to the reception and everyone was extremely impressed. I cannot thank them enough for making this a very smooth transaction.

A coworker raves about this place, and I needed a cake asap. I told them what I wanted (on two days notice) and it came out beautifully. It was a two tier cake — the chocolate was tasty but the vanilla was out of this world! Great customer service.
Edit: I just recently got married and called the Custom Cake Shoppe for my wedding cake! I got almond, lemon, and strawberry for the three tiers, and it was AMAZING. Everyone gave us great feedback about the cake, and it looked beautiful as well! Beautiful basket weave design with light blue sugar flowers around it.
The price was very fair. Other bakeries charge $ 4-​$ 6 per person, but Custom Cake went by size, not serving. For around 140 people, we paid less than $ 500.
Definitely recommend!
