Bought a dozen sausage and gravy Kolache for the office. I was only able to have one before they rest vanished while grabbing a cup of coffee. These little pastries are the devil and a must have for all. You can definitely say there is no way you can have just one. Can’t wait to try the rest of them.

I’m personally pretty indifferent about this place. I mean, I could take it or leave it. I gave it an extra star because my boyfriend loves this place, but I’m personally not as excited about it as he is. We’ve come here pretty often simply because he likes it so much. Some of the kolaches are very good, but others are mostly dough with very little filling. I usually end up getting the sausage & gravy, the pepperoni, or the chocolate cream cheese kolaches. Those are my favorites. Their cold brew coffee is pretty good. I also really like their frozen hot chocolate, though it is very rich – I could barely finish it because of the rich sweetness. Kolache Factory is a pretty decent place. I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat there, but I also wouldn’t avoid it if my boyfriend suggests it another time for breakfast.

Went here for a quick breakfast Saturday morning. We had the bacon, egg, and cheese, a sausage, egg and cheese, apple fruit and a Peach fruit one. All were very good. I will definitely go back and get the savory kolache again. The dough and inside was all cooked perfectly.. Probably will not get the fruit one again. It was good but just tasted like pie filing. Will go back and try others though.

Terrible service. Not only were workers slow, when I finally was tended to, they were rude. Food was pretty good though.

Only one in the drive thru. and I ordered a mocha frappé and chocolate cream cheese kolache and peach kolache and some streusel strawberry flavored. I had to see what this place was all about. I wasnt feeling savory so i didn’t order the meat and cheese filled ones. I like that they have a drive thru. Definitely convenient for me before I head to my appointment. They did forget an item on my order and I had to remind them about my streusel I ordered. Well It definitely satisfied my sweet tooth craving. I’d skip on the peach kolache next time. Very little filling. Very dense and wished it was fluffy and airy. It was too much dough for me. I thought it would be stuffed in the inside rather than seeing the filling in the outside like the kolache images I was seeing. I was hoping for a cream filled kolache more similar to like a donut. I guess I expected a wow factor. My trip here was ok. Not great to try again. Maybe I should try savory next time.

This place is so cute, simple and convenient. I love bread especially sweet bread and they have managed to find a way to infuse sweet bread w/sausage gravy! and other delicious fillings but the sausage gravy is definitely my Fav! Easy on the pockets too just wish they had better hours.

Not impressed at all. First of all customer service when I drove through this am was horrible. I was looking at the menu in the drive thru to see what was available and the lady kept prompting me to hurry up even though there were no cars in front or behind me. Also the place is open until 2pm and when I got there only 1 flavor was left?!? At 10:30?! My family is Slovak so I grew up on homemade kolache and these are not them. It’s a rather poor excuse for a kolache in my opinion and they don’t even taste good. I got a 99 cents sausage one to have for lunch and it was literally the size of my pinky finger? I know it’s cheap but the sausage was tiny! The kolache looked more like a Danish in my opinion. Between that and the horrible customer service today I won’t be going back!

Wasn’t sure exactly what a kolache was but I was in the area and it was still the morning so hey, why not give it a try? We did drive thru which was quick and the employee taking our order was friendly. There were a wide variety of options, from breakfast to lunch types to fruit or even chocolate. For a total of four kolaches our total was $ 10 which I thought was kinda pricy. Gotta say it was kind of underwhelming cause when you think about it, they are just stuffed dinner rolls. The fillings were overall pretty bland IMO and we had sausage/egg/cheese, ham and cheese, potato/egg/cheese, and another one that I can’t remember. If they came with a dipping sauce or something it probably would have been better. I wouldn’t go out of my way specifically for one of these again but at least I can say that I tried one.

Heard about this place opening in the Pilot. Of course, I love to try new places so I put it on my list to try. Happened to be in the area this morning for a dentist appointment and thought it would be a good breakfast option. My husband and two kids were with me. We walked in. First of all, the workers were not rude, but not really friendly either. The main girl just acted bored. She did not ask us if it was our first time or offer much to help us decide what to try. When my husband asked about the«kolache of the month» she merely pointed to the advertising sign and said«its that one». When I asked if the spinach one had cheese in it(it wasn’t stated on the menu), she pointed over to where the kolaches are displayed and said«its right there, yeah with the cheese». It might just be me but I don’t get the«homemade bakery» feeling that I think this place is trying to go for. Instead it looks like some people unpack pre-made pastries from boxes and put them in display cases. Then when a customer orders they take one out of the case, through it in a microwave to heat it up and then into a box. There is not one cooking/baking piece of equipment to be seen. Not anything that would give someone the impression that these are made in house. The actual product: just meh. These kolaches tasted no different then some pre-packaged danishes you might get at a big box store. Not gross, very edible, just not good enough to drool over. I tried the spinach one(savory) and the blueberry one(sweet). The spinach one was ok but not anything special. The blueberry one tasted like it came from a grocery store, the filling was artificial tasting. Each kolache is about $ 2. You’d have to eat two or three to make a meal. I think I’d rather go to a real bakery or even Panera.

Love this place and great kolaches! Yes I am from Texas so was super excited to see this place established! Very nice sitting area for the family to eat and clean establishment!

I have not physically been here yet. My employees and I were lucky enough to get a box of fruit pastries from my father yesterday. They were an arrangement of cherry, lemon, & blueberry. I was pleased. They were actually not very sweet at all. The dough was perfectly soft and yet not too dry. I definitely will give this place another try and order the other menu items.

I noticed this opened up right by my apartment. The name caught my attention. It honestly made me think of chocolates for some reason. Apparently this is huge in Texas. So I thought I’d give it a try. I signed up my email on their website and got a nice coupon! Buy three get three more free! I wanted to make a note about how… not very appealing the place looks. Considering that it is also a franchise… I’d recommend that they get some interior design advise. It’s just very plain inside. Not really a place I would choose to stay and dine in, so I decided to grab it to-go. Not sure on how to describe these things. Imagine a smaller, ball shaped Hotpocket. I found the dough to be very soft, however very plain. I got three different fillings, two of each. Jalapeño&Cheddar, Bacon&Cheese, and Italian Chicken. Out of the three I could say I loved the Italian Chicken. Not sure if it was due to the fact that I didn’t really like the other two. The jalapeño was very watery, cheese was not melted, and very sour and spicy. The bacon and cheese was just,.well bacon and cheese, so I just wasn’t too impressed. The place was very clean and the workers were extremely nice. But unless I have that coupon, I’m not sure if I would choose to come here over somewhere else. Each one of these Kolaches are $ 2., which I didn’t think was worth it for what it was. But that’s just me. If I were to come back I’d like to try some of the other choices they have. They close at 2pm everyday so if you roll in at 1pm, some of the fillings are all out.

Quick stop to get some lunch. Simple dishes in easy to carry and eat buns. Variety of flavors to choose with a majority of them on display and ready to go. They can even get heated up right before you eat them to make it nice and hot. Ordered their kolaches of the month, Ranchero Chicken and Eggs Florentine. Also, picked up the Carolina Pork BBQ and Bacon Egg and Cheese. All tasted delicious! Only complaint is that it’s a little pricey. Paying for convenience or the name?

I work in one of the offices nearby, so since this popped up next door, we eat here quite often. We’ve loved most of the ones we’ve tried, and we’ve tried quite a few. The prices aren’t too bad for what you get, and we’ve always had very good service, so a lot of these reviews about the poor service are a surprise to me. My real issue that I have is how often they run out of many of the flavors. For example, my absolute favorite is the bacon, egg, and cheese, yet I’m rarely able to get it. It seems that every time that I visit, regardless of the day or time, they are out of them. You would think that they would begin planning better and making more of the more popular flavors. Still, it’s a much better choice than a lot of the other fast food options around.

I knew the reviews were poor before I went but I wanted to try it anyway as I have never tried a kolache. Think dough wrapped around filling, frozen Jimmy Dean style. The service was actually laughably bad. I think the counter person we had rolled her eyes at us and then just stared. She was not helpful at all and was visibly annoyed that she had to work. For full disclosure, the counter person to the left looked nice and helpful, we just didn’t have her. They also have to individually microwave each one which makes the line go slow and when you get them they aren’t labeled so you have no idea which kolache is which(we got a selection of 6). I wouldn’t go back unless it was right there and I wanted a quick tea and nibble in the morning rather than McDonalds. And I rarely do McDonalds for breakfast.

Never heard of a kolache before. I drove by the place a few times and was hungry one morning last week so I decided to stop in for a bite. A kolache… Think of a pastry. Think of a breakfast dish, say, bacon and cheese, Philly cheese, or eggs and meat. Now think of said breakfast dish wrapped inside of the pastry. So everything looks the same. It’s the inside that counts. It could be a surprise if you buy a bunch of these for a party/event! I had the bacon and cheese and the polish sausage. Total fat kid status. Added a cup of coffee. Who spends $ 8+ on breakfast food? This guy. If you’re going to eat a lot do it in the morning, right? The kolaches were decent. Something new that was enjoyable. Cool little set up inside where they have couches and a TV. A good spot for morning meetings.

I agree with the other Unilocalers. This place was just ok. When I lived in Texas I enjoyed stopping at a Kolache on my way to work for breakfast so I was excited to see this. Like everyone else notated, the parking lot and drive through were confusing so we ended up going in. The lady at the counter was nice and the restaurant was clean and welcoming. The menu was a little hard to read though. I ordered an egg, potatoe and cheese, egg and cheese and apple Kolache. I requested all 3 to be warmed but only my apple was warmed. The crew seemed to be still working out some kinks. I was disappointed with the egg and cheese, it didn’t have any flavor. The egg, cheese and potato was exactly what I missed about this place. The bread slightly sweet, the potatoes cooked just right and a lot of flavor. The apple was good, perfect way to end my meal. I will say however, i don’t remember them being so pricey. For 6 Kolaches and 2 drinks we spent a little over $ 20. Overall it was just ok for me, maybe I will try again in a few months once all of the kinks get worked out.

Welcone to a new taste of kolaches, I’m not going to try to explain what it truly is so I went in there with a little background knowledge on the factory. Tip 1: Go past the first entrance and pull in because the first entrance is a bit tight. Pull in and walk inside. Tip 2: Tell them that it’s your first time eating there and you’ll get a sample which was quickly prepped and served. The server was very helpful by the way. Tip 3: Coffee is self serve so don’t expect a barista experience. The combos are few and by few I mean 3 options so don’t get creative. Tip 4: The more kolaches you order of the like kinds the cheaper it’ll be, but if you want a variety you’re paying a la carte. Tip 5: If you want to sneak around back and dodge the road traffic, drive behind the building and past the office building straight towards the back, take a right, and veer a little to the left and take a right to the side of the office park. Drive slowly as there are speedbumps in the roadway — it’ll take you to Edwin Dr right next to Mount Trashmore. If you make it there you win a cheese block for a prize. It seems a little crazy explaining it but it saves on traffic — trust. I def recommend getting a breakfast kolach, the winners out of the 3 I tried were egg bacon & cheese and the sausage + gravy. The bacon & cheese was okay. The reheat factor was fine but def reheat at 45 seconds unless you have a radioactive heat microwave tgen dial that down to 30 seconds. I also had a strawberry fruit kolache and that was just as yummy with chunks of fruit inside that was also heated. The dining area was clean, I liked the small seating area in front of the flat screen. The bar by the windows were a nice touch looking at the traffic on independence! The bathroom was spacious and clean. I would return to try some more of the different flavors, a unique treat to the area. Thumbs up from me!

I was not familiar with this chain that is really expanding. They have new stores popping up every where and just saw one bookmarked by a friend in CA. I have had an authentic Kolache before, so I was excited to give them a try since it is in an area I frequent. Spoiler alert… not impressed with the choices, or product I had. The location could be better off a bustling Independence with traffic nightmares. Signage is excellent! Possibly a little tricky getting in and out depending on the direction of travel and traffic. The store was previously a medical building and was gutted all the way down. Parking should never be an issue. You can find it in front and sides. Drive thru ordering starts on the side of building and has plenty of room to accommodate a back up. Both the parking lot and sidewalks were clear of debris. I came in to pick up a large to go order in the drive thru. As it turned out plans changed while in line and I did the solo thing inside. WOW! I had never been in the space before, but it was bright and open with attractive table/chairs & booths along the window. Counter space along a window with a cool art wall. Even a small space with a TV. I think they missed an opportunity here however. Only two chairs and no one else can see the TV easily. Drinks are self serve. Restrooms are located in the front, I did not check them out… but they should be completely new. Ordering is obvious and in the front. There were no other customers in the dining room. Lots and lots and lots of choices OMG! I did let them know since it was my first time to be gentle. A woman explained a little bit about the business and choices which are all over the map, but few combo’s. Another woman came up and said they could provide a FREE sample, so why not. I tried the sausage & cheese which is a full size… so that was very generous. I ended up ordering a sausage & gravy on the recommendation of the first young lady who assisted me. I asked about the all important coffee and if it was any good, LOL! She said choices here with a new French Vanilla. So why not try it out I guess. Check out was efficient, however they missed the mark on eating in and gave my order in a bag. Maybe this is the way that everything is served, but I doubt that. Pricing fair, but it will take a couple to probably fill most up. So keep this in mind if you are ordering to go, or drive-thru especially. This can get really expensive ordering say a dozen alacarte. I sat at the counter to do some car watching, there is little to no foot traffic along this busy road. Verdict on the coffee with added half/half was pretty good. Both the sausage gravy and sausage cheese were really just meh! They did seem fresh and the woman did heat my order up upon request, but still just blah. I was disappointed, but also knew with so many other choices it could be just a miss on the menu. I am at a 2.5 and rounding up. I may, or may not give them another shot soon. If I do it will probably be with one of my kids in toe so they can weigh in. There is upside here. Service friendly, clean eating area and coffee was pretty tasty for the price point.

A new favorite! I love these little bites of heaven. I’m glad Kolache Factory decided to come here to VA. We need more variety!!! Anyway, on to the good stuff… A friend of mine bought me a Philly Cheese-steak a few days ago… so I had to try the rest. I went in today and purchased a dozen assorted. We got Philly Cheese-steak, Bacon and Cheese, Sausage Jalapeño and BBQ Beef. All were good but I think my favorite were Philly Cheese-steak, BBQ Beef, Jalapeño Sausage. The ratio of sweet bread to savory meat is on point! I can’t wait to try the others. I will say it can be a little pricey but what do you expect when you get good quality!
