IHOP

Every time I come to this IHOP location, I am never disappointed. The staff at this location are one of the best in the area. They’re always friendly and willing to help. One thing that attracts me every time I come inside is the «Virginia Beach» painting on the wall. When I go to IHOP I always get the something, but when I came the waiter persuaded me to try something different. I tried the new pancakes with the icing. I was not really a fan of it so next time I will get the same ol same ol. The breakfast sampler with scrambled eggs with cheese!

I shall title this review, «Inconsistent».
I come here about once a month — living so close and having a love for all things breakfast draws me in to satiate my cravings. I really like the selection of food, and am rarely disappointed with presentation and flavors. That being said, the service can be hit or miss. Today was an example of a miss — we stood at the host-​counter for roughly 3 – 4 minutes before being acknowledged and a further minute before being seated. This would not be a bad thing in a busy restaurant environment, but over half the tables were empty and several members of the staff seemed to be preoccupied with the latest gossip near the kitchen entrance. Once seated our server, Andrey, was very attentive and pleasant — I always enjoy a Russian’s take on American food-​service. He also seemed to be one of the few members of the staff that were focused on their jobs. I found it interesting that the server that sat us at a dirty table immediately shifted the blame towards Andrey for it being dirty — I dislike when anyone vocalizes peer-​concerns in a non-​peer environment — nit-​picky, but it lowers my expectations. I ordered the all-​you-​can-​eat shrimp — a seemingly newer offering from IHoP. I didn’t expect butterfly shrimp fresh from Chilé, but I also didn’t expect sea-​monkey sized balls of fried breading with shrimp flavoring added — which was my perception if not their intent. Also, my girlfriend’s biscuits and gravy came out cold — obviously not kept under a plate warmer while the remainder of her meal was prepared. Andrey had the kitchen reheat my girlfriend’s dish and also kept my unlimited sea-monkey’s coming. His service and the prior excellent servers keep this rating at 3-​Stars. Employee focus and kitchen commitments to quality and consistency could lead to another star at some point.

Dissapointed. I get the same thing every time I go to ihop, country fried steak breakfast edition. The eggs were not fully cooked. My boyfriend ordered the all you can eat shrimp. He asked for cocktail sauce but the waiter said he can’t find any… So it wasn’t a good night for my boyfriend. Won’t be going here again

Clearly underrated. I ordered a chicken cobb salad. Was really not expecting this! Fresh. Huge. Crisp. Fast. Service was excellent. Thank you Anthony!

I don’t know what has changed since my last visit over a year ago. Perhaps new management and staff. They seem totally confused just to seat their guest and to assign work stations for servers. The quality of the food and preparation leaves much to be desired. Who would eat raw bacon? Truly not the person who put it on my plate.

I only come to late at night and this is one of the better spots. The service here is fast, friendly, and food comes out fresh and quick. The seating here is more closed in and intimate. I like getting their seasonal specials and holiday drinks. On any other regular day I usually get myself the original buttermilk pancakes and make it into a combo with scrambled eggs and bacon. YUM. My friends have tried their crepes (both food and dessert) and friend toast and said it was good. I always expect less from chain restaurants, but this IHOP proves me otherwise.

The reason for one star is the wait time. We were seated and watched as people started to leave because they weren’t being waited on. The server did not know we were at his table. We were told a big inspection was being done so they were doing a deep cleaning. So apparently, cleaning the place was more important than waiting on customers. I looked at 7 servers standing behind a partition while 4 more were up front playing with coloring placemats. Finally someone came over as we were about to leave. This gentleman was Anthony and he apologized for the delay and service was extraordinary from that point on. We probably won’t go back to this location but Anthony was apologetic, professional and very courteous.

I think this might have been one of the best iHop experiences we’ve had. We were seated right when we arrived, waitress came right over and took our drink orders. She came right back out and was excellent with our food order. Food arrived promptly and hot. I must say I really enjoyed our visit. Great job iHop!!!

I’ve ate here several times and things have been fine, but today was miserable. As soon as we were seated it was freezing. Yes it is summer so the ac should be on but I shouldn’t need a winter jacket to eat breakfast. Other tables around us were cold as well. One of the servers told us that they had turned the ac off but the vent was blowing cold air on our table the entire visit. Then it took 45 min for our food when the restaurant was not even half filled. They brought our food but no utensils so another wait for that. Both my husband and I ordered our eggs over medium, but mine came out fully cooked. Since it was so cold I knew I had to eat fast or my food would get cold, so I did but it still got cold half way thru. They never brought out my husbands pancakes till everyone was already done eating so we had to get them to go. On top of everything when the manager did a walk around asking everyone how they were doing she didn’t stop to let anyone respond to the question, she just kept walking. Overall there was nothing wrong with the way the food tasted but the environment and service was horrible! Worst IHOP visit ever!

Waited 30 minutes to get cold sausage and raw pancakes. I would have understood if they were slammed and only had one cook, which the waitress blamed for the wait, but they were dead. Makes sense now. The manager was kind enough to grant our request not to pay for my meal then basically blamed me for not speaking up and letting them remake my meal. I told him it took 30 minutes to get the first one. He cut me off several times when I was trying to tell him about our experience. When i finally finished what I was trying to tell him he said, «Well I just walked in.» I have heard from others how bad this ihop is. Experienced that tonight. We will not be back.

The worst IHOP in Virginia! A bunch of open tables and they couldn’t seat 2 people. Last time I came here the waitress spilled my drink on me… I didn’t get an apology from anyone it was as if that’s the norm! So if you want your drink spilled on you go to this IHOP but if you want good service in a timely manner find somewhere else to eat!!! This place SUCKS AND SO DOES THEIR STAFF!

Can’t go wrong with IHOP. This one is just around the corner from the house, so we frequent it.
My mother and I like going there. The staff is usually friendly and the food is good. French toast! It’s the best. Pancakes with some strawberry syrup? Yeeeees, please! With a glass of milk to wash it all down. My mother has been there plenty of times by herself and has never complained about the service or food.
Our only bad experience was back on National Pancake Day earlier this year. The guy serving us wasn’t too happy and we knew why. Days like that bring in lots of teenagers who have no intentions of tipping their servers. He was really stiff and angry. We even heard him in the distance saying that WE (my mother and I) wouldn’t tip him. I was a little upset, but I always tip… So I did. Hopefully, we don’t have him again.

The thing about chain restaurants is you pretty much know what you’re going to get.
We came around brunch/​late breakfast time on a Saturday and got seated immediately. My 3 year old son was complaining about the booth being cold because it was under the air conditioner, so the server took it upon himself to relocate us.
He took our order quickly. He didn’t write down our orders, which more often than not seems to lead to errors. Not sure why servers do that.
Anyway, the food came pretty quickly, but sure enough our order was close, but there were a couple things not right. Good news is that meant free extra food for us because they let us keep it.
Food wasn’t the best that I’ve had from IHOP but not too bad either. Pretty standard fare. Service was quick and friendly and they fixed any issues with haste. We enjoyed our breakfast.

Avoid this restaurant. The service is sub-​par at best. Took over 45 minutes from when our order (3 people) was taken until we were actually served. When I voiced my concern to our server, I was told to talk to the manager and if that didn’t work, yell at him. The table next to us took over an hour to be served and the restaurant wasn’t even full. There were several empty tables. With that level of service, there will be a lot more.

Our waiter was par on nothing to complain, however once we were up front waiting to pay the manager was not very friendly. We waited a long with another family for several minutes. just to pay when this lady was seemingly have tea time with others talking. I personally found that to be rude and to look at us as if to say what do you want. Well ma’am we’d like to pay for our food if that’s okay!
People in management and other areas need to understand that you have to have people skills and not have or even show attitude.
I give this manager one burnt toast for her unprofessional behavior and just all around meanness towards paying customers. The waiter receives five hot pancakes for serving us up some good food with a smile and our drinks staying filled!

The food took forever. So if you are looking for late night place to go don’t go here. Apparently under different corporation than other IHOPs in the area and kids don’t eat free nightly like the others. Service was horrible too!
Sandwich was placed wrong too!

Meh, is about the best I can say here. My order was taken without issue, my food was brought to me without issue and it was exactly what I ordered. But to hear the waitress fawning over the other table and basically giving me little attention, I was a bit disappointed. But hey, I don’t come here to socialize. I come here for pancakes.

Great value for the money. Typical breakfast fare. I got eggs over medium hash browns toast pancakes and bacon for under nine dollars. Service was good. Place was clean. All in all a decent value for the money. Quick tip. Military (retiree’s and active) gets all you can eat pancakes for free with any entry. Thanks

Wonderful waitress. Food was good but the hash browns were horrible. Only the top was cooked. Cleaner than the last time I was here

I’ve been here a few times and they were good those times but tonight they were about as far from good as possible. I got the steak tips with corn and mashed potatoes. All of it tasted old and like it’s been reheated a few times… I’ve seriously had better tasting microwave meals before. The mashed potatoes were dry and flaky. The service was pretty bad as well. I had to ask for basic things like silverware, napkins, and condiments… Two stars because they were good the past two times that I was here.
