It took them 20 minutes to take our order & then had the bar tender & server fight over who was gonna take our order… the food is awsome though!

It’s just alright. Pretty pricey for what you get and the food was just soso. I definitely enjoyed the frozen drink from the bar but thats about it. I’m hoping this place is still in a «tweaking mode».

We were impressed with the unique flavor. The jerk chicken potstickers were surprisingly good and the risotto is awesome! The shrimp entrée was small and the crab cake sliders had too much stuff piled on top, but they were pretty good. Can’t wait to try the jerk chicken main dish. Worth visiting again.

This was an awesome experience! First time of many more to come. You have to have the Cuban sandwich and the lobster Mac n cheese! Great service also!

Wings come out soggy and there over $ 1 per wing. Also there a island bar but you can’t even get local oysters for less than $ 1.08 per. I ordered a dozen and they came out room temp. They had been shucked hours before. The owner is nice but you can tell they will not be around pass thanksgiving

Went for Monday night football. Great specials. Awesome fish tacos. Great chicken sandwiches, and the steak bites were awesome. Everyone was very satisfied with their food. Service was ok(I think we had a new-ish girl). Food was fresh, delicious, and well balanced. Atmosphere was really nice. Clean and fun.

the staff are nice– menu is interesting– pot stickers are disgusting-the calamari and the conch fritters were tasty otherwise– the rest of the meals we’ve tried over three separate occasions were not anything I have to have again… I think we are done trying it unless a group is going for a social occasion–

Good food and drinks. Had the jerk chicken sandwich and lobster mac n cheese. Open air bar was a good place to watch football. I hope they stick around.

Didn’t, care for the food. Limited menu. Thought I would give it another try and went to see Kevin Mac only to find the show had been canceled without notice.

They have recently opened. We’ve been there several times already, and the food is very, very good. Some of it somewhat spicy for my tastes, but I always ask before ordering, and if they can take the spices out fine, if not I get something else. However, don’t judge that part on my tastes, because i do not like ANYTHING spicy except steamed shrimp with Old Bay! That being said, their roast pork is fabulous! Their coconut shrimp is amazing! We had lunch there today and their Caribbean chicken salad was excellent, and served with a fresh fruit selection which included blackberries and raspberries! My husband got the Cuban sandwich and loved it! Definitely will return. Great food, great staff, good ambiance. Only thing missing is… they’re not located on the water! Well, maybe when they open a second location(hint, hint!)

This place just recently opened up in the Strawbridge shopping center in the space that used to house Guadalajara’s. Obviously they are shooting for a Caribbean theme with the name, décor, and the menu selections. But right now they still need to work on a few things to get it right. As you come in you see that a full two thirds of the floor space is dedicated to multiple bar areas. Clearly the bar side of the business is where they are hoping to make their money. When I looked at their drink menu, it was nothing but sweet, gloopy sounding island-themed cocktails that I imagine come out in a variety of pastel colors. Just not my bag, baby. I judge a bar on the quality of their martini. I asked our very inexperienced(but very sweet and charming) server for a dirty bombay sapphire martini. At first she went doe-eyed but quickly wrote my drink order down word for word. The martini I received was nothing but gin shaken down and poured into a martini glass. No hint of vermouth and the olive juice was completely AWOL. In my head I could hear the buzzer sound they play on The Price is Right when a contestant loses a game. For food, the conch fritters worked well as an appetizer. They were light and fluffy with hidden pieces of scotch bonnet peppers embedded through them. This was our favorite food item of the night. For mains, I ordered the oxtails with beans and rice. I know upfront that oxtail is a fatty cut of meat but when they are cooked properly they are tender and loaded with a deep, rich beefy flavor. That is the trade off for having to carve out chunks of fat to push aside on your plate. While the meat had decent flavor, I was not blown away. Plus the beans were still a bit chalky on the tooth. They could have used a bit more cooking time. My wife ordered a veal dish(can’t remember the name of it) that resembled chili con carne served over rice. She actually liked it since it played towards her British roots. If you are ever in the UK and order chili con carne in a restaurant, it will come served over a bed of rice. Not sure what the origins are of that bit of culinary trivia but it is what it is. We will likely give this place another chance. They may just need a little more time to settle out and find their groove. But I think I will opt for the jerk chicken next time. If they can’t get that right there is no hope.

Heard this was new, so decided to try it out. There’s two sides to the place: bar with an open patio area on one side and a quieter dining area on the other. We picked the dining side. The Food. –Calamari(pictured): Letdown. One look at it and I was thinking it came from the frozen section of Sam’s Club. It tasted like it too. I didn’t even bother eating it all. It does come out hot. I had to let it cool down for a bit to try to eat it. –Loaded Nachos(pictured): Definitely loaded! Unfortunately for the spicy wimp that I am, this included some fresh jalepenos. I picked off what I could and loved it. Our waitress was right to say you could make a meal of it. Only complaint on this dish was that the nachos kinda got soggy with everything on it. –Rum Cake(pictured): You can taste the rum, but it’s so sweet. Almost too sweet. The Service. Our waitress was pretty enthusiastic and offered some great suggestions. Still seems that the place needs to find its rhythm on how to run things, but everyone was very nice throughout the night. As the night went on, I was starting to get annoyed with the cigarette smoke coming from the other side. Maybe I’ve gotten too used to smoke-free places? Overall, the place has some potential. Time will tell.

For Try Something New Saturday I decided to hit up Off the Hook(or OTH as all the shirts are emblazoned with). When I pulled up I noticed the lovely outdoor facing bar, and thought, ‘Oh, looks like I’m getting a burger tonight!’. But turns out OTH has a pretty unique and diverse lookin’ menu. When I walked in, I felt like every hostess and waitress was an adorable girl working a summer job, it was odd! Of course, this close to the base, having a great looking staff probably doesn’t hurt. I opted to sit in the dining area. The menu had a nice assortment of salads available, but since I had«Burger» on the brain, I went with the Conch Chowder and a Churassco steak. The soup was tasty, although a little salty for my liking, and could’ve done with a side of little crackers(nit-picky, not something you’d lose a star over :)). The steak was very flavorful but overcooked. I had asked for a medium rare and it came out medium/well, almost no pink at all. Overall, it was a good meal, lots of exciting foody options. The staff could’ve been a touch more attentive. OTH, pretty good eatin’.

Great new seafood place! Very clean and cool island atmosphere. Food was fantastic all around: island nachos with jerked snapper, conch chowder, island wings, and jerked grouper sandwich. Generous servings of fish, good selection of draft beer and cocktails. We just wish the doors had been open to enable outdoor seating though we came during a warmer midday. Perhaps they open them in the evening. Our server(Pamela) was very attentive and helpful with great recommendations. We hope to see this place do well in an area surprisingly hurting for good fresh seafood.

I love the changes made to this location! Off the hook did a fabulous job changing the restaurant over to a relaxing Island Theme with a fun atmosphere! Live caribbean music and fresh air makes for a good time! The food was delicious however a large portion for more than I’d like to pay, but I will definitely be back! The wait staff was very friendly and efficient. Having worked in many restaurants myself I always look for that. Looking forward to going back!
