Portions were generous. Jerk pork and Jerk Chicken were full of spice and flavor. Service was attentive, genuine and friendly.

BEWARE!!! WILLNOTHONORMYRESTAURANT.COMCERTIFICATE. I WASTEDOVER $ 103INTWOVISITS. AND I STILLHAVEUSELESSCERTIFICATES. First visit bill wasn’t over the minimum required order. Second visit I brought more people so that our bill could be over the minimum required order. Total on second visit was $ 63 something. The manager/waitress told me that I couldn’t use it on my order because of their unwritten rule that I can’t use it on ox tail. I honestly think they’re making up their own rule so they get the full amount of bill. Food was salty. Will not return or recommend to anyone. HORRIBLECUSTOMERSERVICE!!!

We had two of their $ 5.99 lunches; I had the jerk chicken with collards and plantain, my wife had stew chicken with mac and cheese, and green beans. She enjoyed her meal, I loved mine. The jerk chicken was moist and spicy, the plantain was sweet and the collards were cooked right and tasty. Our service was friendly and timely; we had no complaints. What with the very nice price I give it five stars and would come back in a minute if we were in the area. Several service men and women came in for to-go orders which may explain fewer people there than the food deserves.

Purchase the Unilocal Voucher and me and my daughter both had the jerk chicken. Only restrictions was on Ox tails. Chicken was great and service was good.

DONOT purchase a groupon. Every single time I try to use it they place restrictions on what I can and cannot order even though the only restriction on the groupon is alcohol and buffet. No matter what they will not budge. You would think for a business that is doing poorly at this location and rarely a car there that they would be a little less uncooperative.

Food was excellent! I had the small smothered pork chop with rice & peas and collards. Wife had fried shrimp and our daughter had the largest BBQ wings ever. Music was great as well.

This place has always had great food. From their Newtown location to here it’s always been great. However, their servers could be a little more attentive and quicker with food delivery.

My boyfriend and I were looking for/Yelping a place to have dinner on a Friday night. I came across Montego Island Grill by clicking«nearby»(this particular location is off of General Booth, in the small shopping center near K Mart, behind the KFC& Taco Bell.) The menu looked good, and the best part — there was a Unilocal special — $ 10 gets you a $ 20 credit to the place. We were on that quickly of course. We arrive and the first thing that caught my attention — Sean Paul’s «Deport Them» was playing! Based on music they played the whole night alone, I would have given this place 5 stars. :) You will also notice immediately as you walk in, that in front of the bar area, there’s a dance floor. This most definitely becomes a «party spot» some nights, I’m sure. We ordered the following: for me, I ordered from the soul food menu — Smothered Pork Chops, rice & peas, and green beans for the sides.(I asked if the pork chops are cooked with onion, and the waitress said yes, but that they are cooked to order, so she could do «NO onions» for me. Yay!) The dish wasn’t bad at all. Next time, I would probably try the curry or something else. My boyfriend ordered the Jerk Chicken dinner with greens & fried plantains. I didn’t try his dinner because I don’t do spicy. I did try the plantains; not bad. Service. This is where I dock the place 2 stars. I was warned by a friend that their service is very slow, as in, the food took forever. She wasn’t lying. It felt like an eternity before the food came. Good thing great music was playing the entire time to keep me entertained. Our total for the 2 meals was 20.35. So with the Unilocal deal, we paid 35 cents plus tip. So really, it was 10.35 for the 2 meals. Not bad at all! If you want to try some Island food, definitely give this place a try, especially if you use the $ 10 for $ 20 deal. I would return if the special is still running. When we left, «Murder She Wrote» was playing. I’m a sucker for Reggae and Dancehall music. Again, I was jamming. «I know this little girl her name was Maxi…» :)

We visited October 3, 2014 @ 6:00pm. This was our first visit. Missy was our waitress and she was awesome! Thank you Missy for excellent customer service and explaining the different dishes and answering all our questions. Service was top notch! Food: We ordered 2 mixed drinks and 2 beers. Our meals consisted of: appetizer: lightly fried green beans. Meals: stew chicken with rice & peas, steamed cabbage. Jerk chicken with greens and mac & cheese. The green beans are TODIEFOR. Loved, loved, loved them! There was enough of them to make a meal. Excellent! The rice & peas wasn’t that great, I only saw 4 peas and the rice tasted very dry. I think I actually got rice and beans instead of rice & peas. No biggie though, the green beans were AWESOME! The cabbage was prepared perfectly. Crunchy — not mushy. They have lunch specials ranging from $ 4.99 to $ 6.99. They also have a lunch buffet Mon — Fri($ 9.99); Caribbean buffet Saturday & Sunday($ 12.99); and a seafood buffet every Wednesday($ 19.99), this buffet includes all you can eat crab legs, shrimp, etc. I would recommend this place for the service(Missy), green beans and cabbage. Did I mention the green beans were out of this world? Just writing this review makes me want to go there for lunch and get the green beans.

Stopped by for lunch because I had extra time before work. Walked in to an empty place except for 2 guys at the bar. Because I was by myself I sat at the bar. Lunch prices were good. Not sure if it is standard or not but she have me my food to go(I did not ask for this; like I said, I had time so I wanted to sit down and have a nice meal inside). No water was given and when I asked she acted like all she had was bottled water($ 2). Not the greatest service to say the least. The chicken was excellent but I did not care for the greens and I can’t believe I’m going to say this but the macaroni and cheese had way too much cheese. Tasted like EZ Mac!

I returned, this time I brought back up. Food was delicious again. We had a groupon so we were able to try 2 appetizers. The jumbo fried shrimp are everything. I was hoping to try the cabbage but they were out again. Staff are friendly and atmosphere is laid back. I definitely recommend this place, you won’t be disappointed.

Waitresses were extraordinarily nice. 5 stars for them! Prices were decent, selection was diverse, food was really tasty. Jerk chicken is really spicy, stew chicken was delicious, fried plantains were great.

So I’ll make this pretty quick. Pros: the jerk chicken was perfect in it’s jerkiness. The curry goat was velvety and melts in your mouth. The yams were oh my goodness good. The waitresses were nice. The prices were good and the food was fast. Cons: they were out of plantains, which bummed me out. Red beans and rice were bland. We only got our water refilled once, and that was after we got our check and were about to leave. It was really toasty inside this place, that coupled with the spicy food made it quite uncomfortable. In all it was a decent experience. Not the Bahamas mind you, but the food was good and the prices seemed fair. But unless I’m in the area again I probably won’t be back. Just not worth the hour drive to me.

This place was great and I’m very glad to see a new one in the VB area. Played it safe on flavors with fish and shrimp since we had the kids but the sides were very authentic. Fish and shrimp dinner were cooked to perfection and needed nothing spice or sauce wise. Mind you my son puts ketchup on EVERYTHING –but couldn’t resist those shrimp! Keep up the great work!

Went here for lunch. Wanted to eat at the Japanese place next door, but they were closed. I enjoyed Caribbean food back home in southern Florida, but I remember it being better there. Lunch specials here are cheap, about $ 5.99 for a reasonably-sized meal. I ordered the curry chicken with yellow rice and candied yams as my sides. The yams were absolutley delicious. I found the curry sauce to be bland, although the chicken was well-cooked. So, even though the meal was filling and on the cheap, I’ll have to think twice before I eat here again.

This was my first experience with island food and it was really great! I work close to this location so we placed an order as we were driving there. I got the jerk chicken, cabbage, and rice/beans. They food was almost ready when we got there, which was perfect for our 45 min lunch break– about 10 – 15 mins from order placed to food received. The chicken was super moist and flavorful. The rice/beans were good but nothing too big. My favorite was the cabbage– so good it melts in your mouth! Will definitely be checking this place out again!
