Wanted for something healthy and light for lunch and chanced upon this place after shopping at the farmers market. I believed I was the first customer since all the tables were available. The counter person sensing it was my first time gladly explained how things work. I tried samples before deciding on the butternut ginger squash with a salad. The cashier didn’t offer the punch card I had to ask before she gave me 1. The soup tasted good, better than the ones at whole foods. I will be back whenever I’m in the area.

I tried them out last night and with the effort to not stuff my face with carbs, I went on the search for salad servings after 8pm. Zoup! came to mind. I would describe this place as fast casual. All the fixings of well run business to streamline the process to get me through the link quickly(although there weren’t many people there). Inside is modern, clean, and bright. Booth and table seating. The staff was very friendly. If you’re interested in one of their soups, they’ll offer you a small sample. This was a first for me. I’m used to these at ice cream shops. Well played on the soup front. The Asian salad caught my eye. Grilled chicken, carrots, scallions, almonds, and sesame dressing… all the fixings that I enjoy on a salad. Not good. Not bad. My needs were met and we were off back home with having a fairly healthy dinner for a pretty cheap price.

I’m only giving this place 2 stars because their food is pretty good. Their customer service is atrocious. This is coming from someone who has been in and around the restaurant industry my entire life. It’s really a shame because they have a lot of options and it’s a nice change from Panera if you eat there a lot! A few weeks ago we placed a To Go order online. We arrived at the restaurant to pick it up and the place was relatively busy. There were 6 people behind the counter and no one at the pick up area. We waited for someone to acknowledge us but were ignored even though several employees made eye contact. We stood there and waited patiently since we knew they were busy, and figured that maybe our order wasn’t ready yet. After waiting around for 10 minutes, I finally said«Excuse me» to one of the employees who was just standing around. They acted annoyed that I had interrupted them and had to come over to see what we needed. Turns out our order had been sitting in a bag on the top shelf the entire time we were waiting to be helped. Last week we decided try again and stop in for lunch. We sampled two of their soups but decided to order both of those plus one which we did not sample because it was so busy. I got the Chicken Corkscrew which is basically chicken noodle so how bad could it be? When we got our food everything looked great. The soup was so incredibly salty that I couldn’t eat it. I asked my husband and daughter to taste it also just to make sure my taste buds weren’t off that day. My husband said it was way too salty so he offered to go ask if we could trade it for something else. The girl at the counter said she needed to ask if that was possible. Then a older woman with blonde hair came over and gave him a total attitude. «Well did YOUTRYITFIRST?» It’s a cup of soup Lady! We’re not trying to scam you out of a free steak dinner! The worse part is there was an elderly couple in front off us that she was giving attitude to also because they had a few questions. If you can’t be nice to people then maybe you should not work in any type of service industry. If you go to Panera and anything is wrong they apologize and replace the item with a smile. Most restaurants try to resolve any issues and try to make it right with the guest as quickly as possible. I know this because this is how I was trained at every restaurant I’ve ever worked in. I’m also extra patient and try to be low maintenance as possible when I go out to eat because I have been in their shoes. Based on the responses they’ve offered to the other Unilocalers who had not so great reviews, it really seems like they could really care less about making things right with their guests. It’s always basically«Sorry, please give us another try!» What is the point of asking people to give you another try if you don’t take the necessary steps with your staff to insure these situations don’t happen again? You also don’t even do the minimum to try and make things right when there are any issues.

Since I was nearby, I decided to check this place out for lunch. Immediately, I was greeted by very friendly staff. The servicing, food, and price is very similar to Panera where you place your order(of either soup, salad, sandwich, or a combination) at the register. At first I was a bit overwhelmed with the amount of soup options this place had to offer but you can always ask for a sample which I thought was pretty neat. Like I said, this place is very clean, reasonably priced and the service is very quick. The staff is extremely friendly as well and it felt genuine. My soup was yummy but simple. They also give three bread options for your soup side which is nice. Very good for a quick bite if you’re on a tight schedule or you just want to grab something fast to eat !!! Overall, I had a good first time experience at Zoup. Great place to go for a quick bite.

This place is like Panera Bread but tastier. They have a lot of soups to choose from. They also serve sandwiches & salads too. I tried the loaded baked potato soup and it was delicious. I also liked their chicken pot pie soup & tomato basil soup. Both very good. Their pesto 3 cheese is my favorite sandwich. It’s very clean and the employees are nice. The flavor of their food is better than Panera Bread!

I’d passed this restaurant numerous times while out and about and each time I told myself I needed to try it. Tonight I finally did. I didn’t feel like making dinner and had been in the mood for a good sandwich. I considered Jimmy Johns, the closest being over at Landstown, but after reading the reviews I decided to pass. That’s when I remembered Zoup! was in the same area and also served sandwiches. After browsing their menu and reviews I was sold. When we walked in we were greeted. When we got in line we were greeted again. The guy working behind the counter(whose name I didn’t catch) asked us if we’d been there before and after I said«no» he proceeded to tell me a bit about the place, then he told us we could sample any of the soups. We tried two soups and ended up ordering both. I got the spicy crab and rice soup and both of my kids got the Cajun chicken and sausage gumbo. Both soups were amazing. The kid’s meals came with Goldfish and your choice of a grilled cheese sandwich or a turkey and cheese sandwich, and naturally we ordered one of each. I ordered the try two combo so in addition to my soup I got the turkey club. I mean it when I say everything was fantastic. If I’m being honest though, while I thoroughly enjoyed my sandwich, I think my favorite was my daughter’s grilled cheese. The restaurant was clean, service was great, food was amazing, and they had free wifi. We will definitely be back. And just throwing this out there, one of my daughter’s rated Zoup! five stars while the other rated it 100 stars. Children don’t lie so if you’re on the fence about this place, trust them. You will not be disappointed.

Came here for dinner with a friend. As my fellow Unilocalers have mentioned, a «Panera» vibe is definitely in effect here. The awesome part is you get to sample any soup you were interested in up front, the staff says they«pride themselves on providing samples» and they lived up to every expectation of that. My first sample was of the Jamaican Bay gumbo, good, light tasting, definitely full of flavor, I followed up with the Lobster Bisque, and it was AMAZING! Apparently this is their second top seller. Then the Fire Roasted Tomato Bisque, another delicious cream soup. I decided on the Lobster Bisque and Cobb Salad, as my «Choose 2» We found a seat and waited for our food. The area was well kept and I was diggin the homey vibe as I was sitting down. Not too long after, we received our food, and as funny as this sounds, I wasn’t digging the Lobster bisque as much as I thought I did, I think it was good for taste testing, or maybe it was because I had all the flavors in my mouth of the Cobb Salad after downing it. I suddenly wished I got the Jamaican Bay Gumbo. Don’t get me wrong, everything tasted great as it did the five minutes earlier when I had originally tried the Bisque. I think I like that Zoup’s Soups don’t taste as commercial as some other places. I can’t wait to come back and try the Jamaican Bay Gumbo…

I do not care for Panera and I heard this place being compared to them so I really did not want to try it, but I am so glad I did because they are NOTHING like Panera. I was meeting my girlfriend to discuss her baby shower and she suggested Panera, I countered with Zoup, and Zoup won since neither of us had tried it yet. They have 12 soups offered daily that rotate. The cool thing is you can sample each one! I tried the chicken pot pie which is their best seller, I could see why, it was very delicious with nice pieces of vegetable and chicken in a creamy soup topped with pie crust! I also sampled the beef and barley which was very hearty. The lobster bisque was pretty good too! It was so hard to choose, I wanted to sample more but I realized that would only make my decision harder. I went with the beef barley and the 3 cheese pesto sandwich. The soup comes with a roll. I only wish the roll was warm. The pesto 3 cheese sandwich was very good, it had lots of cheese in it and was toasted perfectly. The beef and barley soup was perfect for this cold day. Each soup I tasted, tasted like it was homemade. I was not expecting that! There is lots of parking. There is lots of seating including booths and high tops throughout the restaurant. The bathroom is one stall and was very clean. The employees were very friendly and helpful! In addition to soup, they have sandwiches and salads too. I love soup, I will be back!

I saw my friend, J David H, have left a review for this place and I decided to try it out tonight. It’s 30 degrees and chilly here in VB, I would love some soup! The place is easy to find across from Landstown Commons, and the parking lot is pretty easy to manage. Coming in, it looks like a burrito bar, with Panera like items. I went to the end of the counter, walking around some strangely placed trash cans. Then I discovered I was at the sampling side, and the trash was for all your little sample cups. I tried the chicken potpie, delicious. The broccoli and cheese was too strong with the cheddar. I even tried the rattlesnake one, which evidently also has rabbit in it… I wonder if the rattle snake ate the rabbit? Or is it just two meats that coincidentally go well together but happen to be predator and prey? I ended up going safe and delicious with the chicken potpie. I felt I was ready for the really big size bowl too. And oh, they have fun salads. So I chose the half Power Quinoa. I was kinda«meh» about getting my food served in throw away containers, since I was dining in. But, they evidently knew I ordered more than I needed, since I barely made it though the soup and took nearly the whole salad home. The presentation in the throw away containers was quite pretty! The chicken potpie was scrumptious, with tons of fresh tasting veggies in it like corn, carrots, lima beans, potato, and celery. They even serve it with some crumbly pie crust stuff on top. I thought it could have been kept hotter, but they either serve the soup at a ready-to-eat temp or it was just that cold out today. My salad, despite being pretty, was not that great. It was supposed to be romaine and baby kale… and there was no kale. I came home and googled it before I left this review, and there was actually baby kale in there. It just looks and tasted like blah spinach. The quinoa was also a little low on the flavor. I mostly tasted the powerful feta cheese. Next time I think I will enjoy it more with a dressing to compliment what’s there, or just get some other salad, The Quinoa Power Salad was all Feta! Red Peppers! Ahh! Balsamic vinaigrette! I wanted to use the bathroom before going home, but they only have one ladies stall and SOMEONE was in there for a LONG time. I waited for then for quite a while. I was just about to use the men’s room when a staff member got in line behind me. Dang! I gave them a couple more minutes before going home to pee. If staff has to use the single ladies room in the whole restaurant too, then I think there might be some issues. What if I really had to go, or wanted to wash my hands, or some poor parent had a little kid doing the potty dance… all the while one jerk is holding up the show cause they’re dropping a deuce or hitting high score on candy crush. Course, they might have a legitimate reason for being in there for 10+ minutes too. Just, point of this digressive rant, they need more bathrooms.

I’m going to start begging our reps to bring us Zoup for lunch on a regular basis. We had a catered meal from them last week and I had to do some digging on the location. Thankfully, they’re close enough to my office that I can sneak away once in a while for a healthy, tasty lunch. We were brought a few options of soup — chicken pot pie, lemon basil chicken and tomato vegetables. I did not try the pot pie. A little too heavy-looking for me at lunch time, but the other 2 were very tasty. They came with sourdough and whole grain bread. I tried the whole grain, which was a perfect texture for sopping up the remnants that don’t quite make it onto the spoon. If the hearty soups weren’t enough, we received a HUGE salad for sharing. It was fresh and tasty, but the soup was definitely the star. I’ll be sure to update my review after stopping in to their storefront location in Landstown.

So another chain has hit Virginia Beach. However, I must say after hitting them up tonight you will want to try them out because it was an impressive first visit. Located directly across from Landstown Commonons, I’m sorry if this area has a name I did not catch it. This is the newer development off of Princess Anne that popped up last Spring. You can clearly see it off of Princess Anne Rd. However, parking is around the other side. If you are of foot they do have an entry that faces the road. I knew nothing about the franchise, so total shocker. Great start with clean parking lot and sidewalks. Signage is excellent, you will not miss it. Attractive set upon approaching the door. You may be thinking Panera as I was, but you will find some stark differences. I found the dining room spacious with both table/chairs and booth seating. I arrived around 6PM and there were few customers. Everything was clean and neat as it should be, they only opened in November. Drinks are self serve as well as busing your own table. Counter is to your left and line form on the far end. There is s middle dining room if your look for more privacy. Restrooms are in the rear. What often lacks at a chain is service and from the minute I opened the door I felt welcomed. Front end employee Walter said hello and immediately asked if I would like to sample one of their 12 soups. Oh yeah, well of course I would. They are serious about sampling with small cups and spoons provided. A few other employees were in the back. I asked if they were new and he said yes just this Fall. They are the second store to open in Virginia, the other being in Richmond. So I tried a few soups and settled on the Burger Cheeseburger Soup. It was thick and rich and perfect for a cold day. I moved onto options on side and combo’s. There are around a dozen sandwich options you can do with soup sandwich/salad combo. Walter informed me that there are always 12 rotating soups… but the catch is two of their signature favorites… the Chicken Pot Pie and Lobster Bisque remain on all of the time. I decided on the 8 oz. side cup with a Maple, Bacon, Ham sandwich. I then learned I could upgrade the side cup to a 12 oz. Well realizing I did not have lunch today I thought that was prudent. There are also a few bread options and I elected to get the sourdough. Walter and staff were friendly through the entire process of sampling and recommendations of sandwiches. Before checking out they had a few cookie/brownie options that I resisted, but they looked good. Total was $ 10.12 and this is a no tip place. WOW, that is a bargain. When you number is up off the receipt you pick up at the counter in the front. It took less than 5 minutes and my order was up and served nicely on a tray with utensil and napkin. The soup was the correct temperature so that I could begin to eat. It was just as good, if not better than the sample. I enjoyed dipping my scrumptious and fresh sourdough bread in the bowl. The sandwich is rolled up tightly in a wrapper. Once unrolled it had a lot of grease from the ham and bacon, so I was unsure what I was in store for. That first bite, oh my how yum. The delicious meats and some special sauce was delicious. However, it was more greasy than I preferred by it was all good. A disappointment is that they do not have napkins out on tables or in a general area. I need more and by the time I sat down they had a line of people. Before departing I used the facilities and found them to be spic and span with proper supplies. I went back to the table and finished my water and continued to watch a good steady stream of customers come in the door. I observed the counter service was friendly offering samplings of the soup and not rushing for decision making. When they get busy there should be a separate employee assisting with samples and this was the case. I will be back, there is no doubt in my mind. This was a strong 4 visit and I recommend others giving them a try.

This was the perfect spot to grub at for the first snow of the season! They had a huge selection of soup, salads and sandwiches. I tried the«Try Two!» deal and got the Singapore Squash soup and the Turkey Club sandwich. Squash soup isn’t for everyone, but it is one of favorite soups! Perfectly creamy and had a little kick! I really enjoyed it. The Turkey Club typically comes toasted, as with many of their sandwiches, but I’m not a fan of toasted subs, so I opted out. The untoasted club sandwich still came on very fresh and soft bread and the filling was very generous! I usually enjoy my turkey sandwiches with some deli/spicy mustard, but they didn’t have any mustard in the building at all… Which I thought was strange for a sandwich spot. My total was around $ 10.00 without a drink… Kinda pricy. Nonetheless, my meal was delish. All in all, it’s basically a Panera Bread without the bakery and coffee drinks and with a bigger selection of soup. In this winter season, I’ll definitely be back!

Dropped in today with my wife to try out Zoup! for lunch. It is a «fast casual» setup like many chains are these days: Head down the line and choose the soup you want, then also pick out a nice sandwich.(I went with the half soup, half sandwich choice, get the best of both worlds. I do like the idea that you are not waiting for a menu. Long story short, speeds things up. :-) You can see the soups there right on the line, with the sandwich menu above. Place your order, and have a seat for a few minutes as they prepare things for you. My only real complaint was the amount of meat on the Sandwich… I would call this more of a «European» style sandwich on french bread(Less topping portions), which is still good in the sense that you don’t leave«absoutely stuffed» as you might if you ordered up a big greasy Philly Cheese steak at another restaurant somewhere. But… Peak hours for Zoup is probably lunch-time on weekdays, and who wants to eat a massive, overloaded, greasy sandwich at lunch on a workday?!(Well, OK, I would, but I don’t want to be in a previously well-described food-coma from 1−4pm!) So, Zoup! Nice soups, Nice choice of sandwiches to choose from. Healthy portions and the Soup I tried was very good as well :-) Give them a «Zhot!» — Wait, that last play on restaurant name just didn’t work… Give them a Shot! Great food, and Fast…

I hadn’t heard of Zoup before. A few days ago, I was looking for a place not too far away to get something for dinner. After doing some searching through Unilocal,I landed on this place. After looking at the reviews, I decided to give this place a try. I normally do dinner early in the evening since I’m usually not up too late. When coming into the place, there was only the staff there. The staff immediately greeted us coming into the place and quickly offered us to try the 12 soups they have each day. The soups change each day, so it’s always something different. This place is mostly similar to Panera in terms of the type of foods available here. They tend to have more options than Panera though. When we got up there, I tried the 7 bean soup and a Dragonfire soup. Both soups were good, and the Dragonfire soup gave a bit of a kick after having it, which was good. My mom was with me and she tried the cheesy potato soup and liked that as well. There is plenty of indoor seating in this location, so you can kick back, eat, and relax here as well. For dinner, I ended up getting the Southwest Turkey Sandwich, which I have posted a picture of as well. The sandwich was very good and tasty. The bread and sandwich was nice, soft, and hot; it’s just the way I like it. My mom ended up getting a bowl of the cheesy potato soup and she liked that as well. After we ordered, a few more people came in, so they got a bit of a «rush». It took them a little bit to have our order ready due to that. Overall, this was a great experience and will definitely be back. I love the fact that this place has vegan and gluten free options as well. Each item you order is clearly marked if it is low fat, gluten free, vegan, etc. This place is worth checking out for yourself.

Tried Zoup out with my girlfriend tonight. The atmosphere is nice with music at a good volume(and a decent playlist). Chairs and booth are comfortable and overall it is enjoyable to eat inside the restaurant. I got the lobster bisque with the lemon caper sandwich — the Try Two Combo. It was an ok deal with my portion coming out to $ 9.00, w/o a drink. I would have liked a more hearty sandwich considering the price, but the soup was a good portion and the bisque was great. I will most likely come here again, although, with many trips to Panera in-between.

So Zoup! Recently opened here in the continually developing shopping center of Landstown Centre. I’ve tried every restaurant here except for Teriyaki Madness. Anyway, I’m pretty stoked to try this place out. I had a overall relaxing and enjoyable experience with all of the help of the amazing staff here. It’s a fast causal restaurant, you order your food at the register and wait till your name gets called deal. You can sample all of the soups your heart desires. They even label the food preferences on the soups! Low-fat, dairy-free, vegetarian, spicy, gluten-free. I really enjoyed the savoriness of the Lobster Bisque. I made it a «Try Two Combo» with a half sandwich. I opted for the Maple Ham & Bacon sandwich bc I was in the mood for pork. My cashier Kaden told me that I ordered two of the most popular items. I asked if she could add some L&T to my wich. No charge :) and added a brownie for $ 2.10 bc why not. The soup comes with bread so I chose Sourdough… I later regretted my decision and should have gotten the French bread instead. My food came out in less then 3 mins. I take a gander at my meal and I understand why it was only $ 10. The sandwiches aren’t much filled. You get one piece of each thing and that’s about it. Despite the portions, I still enjoyed my meal. The atmosphere here is pleasant, relaxing, and clean. There’s seating everywhere, fountain drinks, throwback music from the 80’s-90’s, bathrooms, kid’s booster seats. Sign up for their emails! My only reasoning for the 4 stars is that instead of getting a piece of bread with my soup I would rather get chips or a fruit. I can’t eat more bread if I’m already eating a sandwich. I can’t complain though, I’m going to try the salad next time I come and try more of their Zoups! $ 10 for a quick and satisfying bite you can’t beat it.

Zoup is another in the era of not-so-fast-but-kinda-fast-food chains that are the… dare I say, restaurant du jour these days. Think, Chipotle, but with soup and salads and sandwhiches… What I like a lot about Zoup is there is no shortage of healthy options. When I’m feeling particularly huge, I’m gunna hit up Zoup for some tasty quick food. There are some negatives here, like, the chili is more«sauce» /broth than fixins’. It didn’t taste bad, just wasn’t as hearty as I’d like. And their salads are good, but there are better restaurants in the similar price range out there. Ultimately, you come to Zoup to eat healthy, quick. I’m a fan.

Zoup’s is a great place to get soups, salads and sandwiches. One of the best parts of this restaurant is that you can have a sample of any of the soups before you order. There were about 12 soups to choose from and we sampled 4. All the soups were very good — nice and rich tasting, almost like homemade. I tried a soup and tuna salad combo. It was very good. We will be back to try other soups.

I’ve been here twice since it opened, and both times have been really great experiences. All the staff is friendly and very engaging. They were very helpful in sampling the soups and ordering. I never met a single staff member who wasn’t helpful when I was there. All the the food I’d tried was delicious. They alternate their soups everyday, so it’s not the same selection from day to day, but my favorite, of course, was the pumpkin pie bisque because I love all things pumpkin. Their bisque was sweet and so delicious! I devoured the whole thing! Their lobster bisque was really good too and a very popular choice from what I’ve heard. I really like this place and definitely plan to come back again!

Ok I just zouped on myself! Having first tried this place in Richmond I was excited to see this soup bar come to the 757 area. You walk in and hear hot zoup! Zoup on its way! Get ready for Mac and cheese soup — YES mac & cheese soup!!, pumpkin pie soup with bits of pie crust, veggie chop chop — my fav, lobster bisque, & tomato cabbage. Try 1, 3, forget try them all. They are more than glad to let you try them all. The cashiers are friendly and they offer yummy bread bowls. Can’t decide, «double up» and get more than one. If you take a bread bowl to go they’ll cup your soup separately! The restaurant has a great clean décor, clean bathrooms, and a great taste in overhead music. So come and try some good healthy soups, vegan, gluten free options are available as well. So stroll on in and get your zoup on! Your belly will thank you!
