If you go north of Georgetown you will notice two things. First, you have made a grave mistake, and it is time to evaluate your life choices. Secondly, there is a particular fast food chain that literally encompasses the landscape. You guessed it… Bush’s chicken. So, I have heard so much about this place in the last few years. I was a bit giddy to walk into their restaurant. I lead a simple life, obviously. You want to know my opinion? Well, It was like walking into a dilapidated Golden Chick. It truly was. floor tile peeling. Booths broken. Ceiling tiles falling apart. There was even a woman in the drive thru, that had walked up, and was arguing through the window. Why yes, i was in Waco, how did you guess? Food opinion: Eh, it was, again, not too much unlike a Golden Chick. The only thing that made it different was the seasoning salt. That’s about it. I can say this though. The staff was super helpful. For a group of young people working fast food, they were friendly, and quick. It kind of made up for the fact that I felt that I was in a horror flick in the broken down restroom. All in all, eh. It was ok. My friend’s hype things up way too much.

While the food here isn’t half bad, the customer service is awful. I ordered a 6 piece meal and when I got home I only had 4 pieces. Not that big of a deal, I get it. However, when I went inside to tell them that I hadn’t received what I ordered, they told me that there was no way to prove that and asked me to leave. This establishment is more willing to rip off an honest customer, thus never getting their business again, than take their word that their order was wrong.

Well where do we begin… Um let’s rethink this… oh yes! I was on my way to Austin driving through Waco and really wanting something«chickeny». I would always drive past this place in West and though I’d give it a try. I show up after a hellish thunderstorm and I mean I’m driving in the«eye of the storm» where it’s so ruff you can’t see out your window. and no where to pull over for cover. I come up on Waco(Thank God, I’m still alive! Time for some chicken!) I pull in, I walk in. First thing that comes to mind is «what the hell is that smell» it smelled way worst than the fish isle at Central Market. It couldn’t have been chicken! What the hell screw it, deal with it, I’m starving. I order a small plate consisting of 1 Thigh, Mac and cheese side with a roll and a sweet ice tea that was under a buck! Everyone raves about the tea here is wasn’t that great. but what about the chicken? oh yes, order up, grab my tray, go make my way to a booth. I look at my tray and the chicken looks like it had been fried and sat under a heat lamp for over 10 years. Seriously. it looked like something not so appetizing but I dug at it! No knives here, just use 2 forks. ok, I can manage but something to «saw» the muscle with would be nice otherwise I’m getting hot grease squirged into my eye. While the tenderness of the meat was ok, it didn’t have much flavor. Mac and cheese? Just as bad as Dickies BBQ taste like it came out a bag and placed in a pot of hot water. Kraft tastes better! The roll tasted store bought and not fresh baked like Dickies does, no butter either just a lame dry dinner roll. So all in all I’ve had better for fried chicken as the quest for the best still goes on… bottom line: Is this place worth eating at? NO. Although the great customer service and price I paid is what gets the 3 stars here. My 1-piece plate and 32oz. tea came out to only $ 4.33! Not bad…

I usually love Bush’s chicken(my favorite is the one at the Texas Marketplace) but this one isn’t the worst in Waco. The chicken is usually pretty good, but the employees aren’t always the nicest. Also, the last time I was there, almost every table was filthy. I had to clean my own table & even the seats. I don’t mind, but I don’t think a customer should have to do that.

I love the chicken from here its delicious, everytime im in the area(which is not often:() I try and stop by. They give you big pieces of chicken and the rolls, and sweet tea are sooo good. I also like that they are really quick with your order and have extra staff outside taking orders in there 3 drive thru lanes.

I used to come here after church to get some chicken strips, okras, and teas. Not the healthiest food, but it was good. Fast service too.

I grew up in Waco and watched this place change names like twice but the food has always been outstanding! I have moved to many different places and tried tons of different kinds of foods but this is the ONLY place I crave to this day. Whenever I’m even near Waco, I will take a detour to the nearest Gold-N-Crisp Chicken.

I went to Baylor years ago and I have Bush’s to thank for the freshman 15 that I still haven’t lost. If I’m in Texas and driving through Waco, I have to stop here. The chicken strip meal is the best, comes with a soft roll, fries, and gravy. Get the serendipity seasoning and mix it in your gravy before you dip. And you have to get a sweet tea! Seriously, it’s kind of difficult to find sweet tea at restaurants in Texas. I miss you Bush’s.

Everyone in my office here has either raved about Bush’s or made a comment when someone else brought it in «hey! I love those!» haha I forgot my frozen lunch today so I drove by to pick some up. The drive through thing was kind of interesting to me. The workers come out to your car and take your order; I didn’t actually see a menu until I pulled around the side of the building, so I just ordered the same thing as my coworker. Got back to work and opened the box to see chicken strips that look exactly like Golden Chick! Tasted the same too! The cons though are the roll doesn’t taste fresh as G.C., the fries are crinkle, and they don’t have zinger powder. Bush’s is a-ok. …oh nevermind, my coworker said they have serendipity? but they didn’t ask me if i wanted it, so i had no idea.
