Yay! Fresh, hot, tasty baked or steamed Manapua! Don’t have to go to Oahu to get! Soooooo delicious, have to get one for the road in addition to my order cause I cannot wait to eat! They come loaded with filling, the usual meats plus have other kine too, like chicken teri and sweet potato which is my favorite. And the baked bun ono too, tastes like Portuguese sweet bread. Love the old time feel of the shop. Best customer service! Talk story with the owner, so much aloha! They may not always have the kine you want but remember, this is a small local shop and these are freshly made. Just try a different one and come back another time. They all tasty!

I cried tears of joy at the news of an awesome manapua bakery on the island! Where I live in the SF Bay Area I can’t swing a dead cat without hitting a dim sum bar or Chinese bakery but all steamed buns are not created equal. This is the real deal, steamy buns of heaven — not soggy or doughy — filled with char sui scrumptiousness. Made sure we left Wailea early enough to pick up a dozen to bring back before going to the airport. They also told me they’ll ship! How great is that?

Stopped here on our way to the hotel. Nice people. Got 3 types. Char sui, kalua pork, and I think it was chicken. Couldn’t remember as we said 3 of each steamed bun and then the colors on the top of the bun didn’t match the legend stamped on the box. We also couldn’t tell once we ate them. Everyone said it was good, but wasn’t the best they had. For me, I still think the best is the one from Santo’s Market in San Jose, CA.

Coming from the mainland where dim sum and buns can pretty much be found within a 15 mile radius, you can imagine our excitement when we found this place. Manapua Bakery’s buns have become a fixture in our home and visiting their little bakery is now a weekly ritual of ours. This isn’t a place you just go to once in awhile, get your fix and come back months later, at least not for us. We stock up on buns like we stock up on eggs! Because they’re made fresh, we eat these for days and they still taste just as good. First off, these buns look like they’re injected with steroids because they’re so big compared to the ones we’re accustomed to eating in the mainland. I think one of their buns is equivalent to 3 mainland buns. Real talk! They carry a wide selection of flavors ranging from your standard Char Siu to your Sweet Potato to your succulent Beef Curry buns. All the flavors are pretty tasty but my favorite by far has to be the Beef Curry with the Char Siu tailing at a close second. Their dough is moist and soft as they are made fresh each day. Their meats are seasoned just right. Each bun is filled with a balanced amount of stuffing where you don’t get too much bread and not enough meat. *wiping drool* Not only does Manapua Bakery carry a variety of both steamed and baked buns, they also sell shiu mai pork hash and egg custards which is rather scarce in Maui. For the best selections, come early as they tend to run out towards the end of the day(I’ve learned my lesson the hard way!). If the buns aren’t enough to get you here, let me just add that the service and staff here are just some of the nicest people you’ll come across. They’re always humble and appreciative of our business which only makes me want to buy 2 more dozen of buns from them. If you’re looking for fresh, tasty buns for your road trip or just a little snack to hold you over, Manapua Bakery has got the goods for you!

Bright building on the Main Street but very tight parking so be careful! Friendly owners and very helpful. Manapuas — char sui, kalua pork and sweet potato all had generous fillings. Pork hash was tasty, thought it could have been bigger for 99 cents a piece. Their egg custard pie was one of the best I’ve ever eaten. Creamy, rich and it just melted in your mouth. This I would go back for!!! OMG to die for egg custard!

This place has really good manapua. Located right off the road with parking right in front of the store. We got 6 pork hash and 6 manapua, 2 each of Kalua pig, char siu, and pork adobo. Even cold they were soooo ono. The place is small, standing room only so have to order to go. The lady at the counter was friendly and patient while we decided on what we wanted. She even told us they are good for a couple days in the fridge. When I come back to Maui, I will definitely visit this place again. Just not on Sunday because they are closed that day.

with a capital B! Stopped in here before heading up to Iao Valley and I was not disappointed! The service was wonderful. I didn’t catch his name but the fella that works the counter was friendly and welcoming. I didn’t feel out of place at all when I mispronounced my order like a typical tourist. Food was great. I got the kalua pork and breakfast. They lasted me until lunch in Paia five hours later. Fluffy, warm, fresh, and delicious! If you’re in the area, stop by. You won’t be disappointed. #supportlocal

I tried this place for the first time & their manapua is ‘ono. I got a couple of steamed char siu manapua & a baked Korean bulgogi manapua along with pork hash. It was amazing. I also got a lilikoi bar & that was amazing as well. The icing on the cake was the great customer service & service with a smile. I will definitely be a regular here :)

They have these amazing steamed bun/shell tacos with slow roasted pork. Think of a deconstructed steamed Manapua. Or dying and going to heaven and the little white clouds are actually Manapua. You can’t go wrong with their pork hash. SOONO! Manapua(steamed and baked) Faves include: Adobo Car Shiu Roast Pork And if you need to order some Minis for a pot luck, be sure to call ahead! Their shop is located on lower main in the red building, you can’t miss it! They also appear at the various Friday town parties.

**3.5 stars** I can’t remember how I came across this place, but I am glad I got to try it. They have a good variety of buns, both steamed and baked. I didn’t really care for the baked bun, but the steamed buns were pretty good. We tried the pork, chicken, and pumpkin. They are not heavily sauced and the breading tastes very similar to Hawaiian bread. I also tried their pork hash dim sum which was probably on the more healthy side of dim sum and it wasn’t greasy like typical dim sum. They didn’t have any rice cake, so bummed I didn’t get to try that, but I might go back again, if we find time. Service was really friendly, they have dedicated parking spaces in front of the building, and prices are reasonable.

I was soooo exited to see all the reviews here on Unilocal, but I gotta say I am disappointed. All the flavors taste the same from the duck to the Teri chicken and char siu both baked and steamed. This one in the picture is the teriyaki Chicken. Tastes as it looks with no real flavor. I drove from kihei to try it out for myself since I’ve heard mixed reviews from locals who know good manapua from chun wah kam. I hope they improve their recipes because mine looked and tasted nothing like the other pics on here. I give them two and a half stars out of five. It’s not bad but it’s not something I’ll be driving out of kihei for once a week like I’d hoped.

This was my first time ordering here and I am sad to say I will not be back. I ordered pepeiau(1), pork hash(4), Teri chicken manapua(1), sweet potato manapua(1), duck manapua(1), and char siu manapua(1). All of the manapua I bought were steamed, not baked. My pepeiau had a hair on the bottom when I took it out of the box. The pork hash didn’t have an even distribution of water chestnuts(my pieces had none but my husband’s did), the duck manapua had roughage in it, the char siu manapua was fatty and flavorless… The bread was also very doughy and unpleasantly filling. Overall Pros: Conveniently located, no wait time Overall Cons: No seats for dining in, inconvenient parking layout I would not recommend this place to others.

Best Manapua on island! Actually best Manapua I’ve ever had in terms of my favorite one, charsu. I do like the baked bread more in Oahu, but the charsu itself best by far in my life! I decided to go all out try a bite of everything and thought the one I enjoyed the most would be the one I’d eat all. I won’t lie that every filling tasted amazing, but because it’s in a Manapua bun it does acquire a certain taste. But the contents does taste great. I like the Kalua pig and the charsu the most in the steamed bun along with the sweet potatoe and coconut in the baked bun. Tasted like yummy dessert. I even tried the pork hash which was also delicious. On the plus the worker here is extremely nice. Not sure if he lady who rang us up owned the place too, but I didn’t see a Kalua pig sign and asked last minute if we had to come early to try those. She told me that they had some and I said it was ok I’ll just come back next, but she went and got it for me at no charge. Amazing, so sweet and she did not have to. Telling everyone I know about this place just cause of the service and of course the best charsu I ever had!

Stopped here twice recently on our family vacation. So, satisfying to find good baked manapua. These are larger than your average manapua and you’ll be pleasantly surprised to see how much meat is inside. I really like that the Char Siu, Teri Chicken and Pork Adobo meat is shredded, to reduce all the fat other restaurants put inside theirs. The texture and flavors are awesome. You’ll literally get meat with every bite. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I cannot say enough about how helpful they were. We ordered some to take home back to the mainland and they froze ours, so they’d survive the flight home. Their customer service is exceptional. All the TSA Agents were asking to hold our manapua’s hostage, but that wasn’t going to happen. I like that we’ve been able to enjoy our manapua’s after we got home. I’ll definitely be back.
