Applebee’s

I am writing the review for our overall meal. If it was just based on my meal and experience, this would have been a 1 star. I have not been to Applebees since the debacle of them firing a server after the posting of some hypocritical person of «faith» comments. Anyway, Hubs wanted to go here. We were greeted and sat in a booth quickly about 11am. I moved the electronic device they have sitting on all tables and found it to be very sticky. We ordered drinks and our meal and the drinks came quickly. The meal was a bit longer than I would expect with a nearly empty restaurant, but not horribly long. Hubs food was good (BLT with chips), the kids meal (chicken tenders and broccoli) was really good although the broccoli was a bit under steamed, but excellent flavor. My hamburger had a Hawaiian type bun which I was not at all expecting and was a huge disappointment. Let me say I have had Hawaiian type buns with chicken and that was wonderful, but not so great with a burger. The ketchup at the table was empty (argh!). I visited the bathroom and I can not believe how filthy it was. The white walls had splatters of something all over it. The counter had splatters that were probably hard water stains and something else. Finger prints everywhere (high and low and everywhere). They really need to take pressure washer in there and thoroughly clean it. After walking back to the table I noticed the carpet showed dirt and grime with bits of food embedded. What worries me is if the dining room is not taken care of, I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like.

Love the new pub menu. I had brisket sliders, shiraccha shrimp and chicken tacos. All three were so yummy. I can’t wait until next time to try the dumplings. Great service and wonderful lunch experience.

3.99 drink specials and half price apps (at night) are great for a night out with friends. Our bartender, Chase, was very good at his job but still easy to talk to! It’s still an Applebee’s, albeit a pretty good one.

I keep giving them a try in hope that they change. Never does.
How is it my first experience there my daughter chokes on their food and what happens? Nothing, they stood around doing nothing. Shouldn’t they be prepared for something like that? Instead my child passes out in my arms and luckily with my previous experience I get the food out of her throat. Their response hope she’s better.
I then go again see the menu change and had a decent meal. Nothing special but saw a bunch of new items. I brought my vegan friend there to try out lunch. She could only order a salad and asked for more of one thing while taking out the others. She was brought a whole bunch of rotten or the core of lettuce. She requested more olives and tomatoes. They brought out 4 more olives sliced and two more tomatoe wedges. We complained. They took off her salad and said they would bring out more to complete her salad. Another 4 olives sliced and one slice of tomato.
We did carry out the next time. The breaking on the fish and chips was horrible. I had to take it off. We also got the cheeseburger with bacon. They took the meat right out of the package and just placed it in the pan. I could have done that without spending 9.00. The cheese was not even melted.
I will no longer give them a try. Service is slow and does not seem to care. Food I can do at home for cheaper.

Got a long way to go.

Very slow service for lunch. Cold rice. Waitress stood hanging over me while paying. She was waiting to avoid another trip. We complained and was offered new warm rice just before we were leaving. What is happening wit Applebee’s restaurants? I used to love them

Mediocre food. My question is how come the food never looks as good when it comes out as it does in the pictures in the menu?

The staff was very nice. The food was nice and warm. It is your typical Applebee’s. No complaints here.
If you are wondering, I rarely give out 5 stars. Plus since this is a chain restaurant, it will have to be extra special for me to give out 5 stars.

I have not been to an Applebees for probably close to four or five years. They redesigned their menu and killed my absolute favorite salad and I really wasn’t interested in trying other stuff after that as they had been slowly killing off dishes I liked.
We got a gift card for them for Christmas and decided to give them a try. My son is seven and had never been to one and was a bit against the idea (he’s set in his ways like his father)
We check in about 7pm and the first thing the hostess does is give our kids (9, 7 and 1) adult menus and offer to sit us at the bar. My wife pointed out to her that we had kids with us and the bar wasn’t appropriate (and illegal in NC)
So I went with the baby back ribs, which are hard to screw up, and I wasn’t disappointed. They were nice and tender and not overly sauced but not dry. There was a fair amount of meat on them when compared to ones I’ve made myself numerous times.
Our server was attentive and took care of us, all and all a good chain experience after we got past the odd choice of ‘things for the kids’ at the beginning.
