Definitely a hidden gem if I’ve ever seen one. Going into this place I expected to find some real big north shore meat heads to grunt and throw some slop at me. Not at all the case. Great BBQ from cool people that care you’re happy with your meal. Fries are fantastic and the prices are fair. I’ll be back.

Best BBQ I’ve ever had. I wanna say I’ve spent hundreds of dollars there in the past few months alone. Love the food, people are always awesome. Prices aren’t bad, you get what you pay for. Everyone I’ve ever taken there loved it too

Excellent hole in the wall BBQ. Haven’t had BBQ this good outside of Texas. Brisket and pulled pork in particular, with the spicy BBQ of course, is my recommendation . Exhaustive list of burgers that covers every meat combo under the sun. Definitely coming back for round two once my belly deflates from that Father’s Day meal.

Im pretty surprised to see a place that delivers BBQ. Its outstanding. The portions are generous and well flavored. My food arrived warm and quickly. The corn bread is real good and so are the short ribs. Jerk chicken is top notch. Im visiting from Alabama and I’m definitely going home to spread the word that Boston can BBQ. I’ll definitely eat here again

Perhaps the best place I have been too thus far in my 5 weeks of living in the USA, the food was so good and the owners of the place are so funny and welcoming will be going back soon!!!

The 4 piece fried chicken was excellent coming with 2 sides for $ 11.99 which is very good considering the large portion of chicken. The 4 piece chicken tender was $ 7.99 with 2 sides and they were huge juicy tenders, absolutely wonderful service very friendly servers creating a great environment as you eat. Definitely a new favorite go to BBQ place that I have always wanted to try every time I had passed by it.

Incredible barbecue. Plain and simple. The guys who work there are all cool people. Highly recommend the pit sandwich… So good. Food could be better, but overall great experience.

On Sunday, my boyfriend and I were looking for a place to grab lunch. He was suddenly craving BBQ, so he literally turned the car around(we were headed to Downtown Wakefield) and drove to Pit Stop BBQ. This is a very homely, snug place. One reviewer called it a ‘hole-in-the-wall’ and I’d have to agree! It’s a small establishment that feels very diner-esque. There are three tables but other than that, there isn’t much room! I think this is a more ‘take-out’ kind of place. I ordered the Cheatin Steak and Cheese sandwich with a side of fries. My boyfriend ordered ribs with a side of coleslaw and rice. Our food was made fresh and promptly. The two workers were sociable and making conversation with the three people who were seated with their food. We got our meals to-go. My sandwich was good and filling. It had mushroom in it, which was a plus! There could’ve been more cheese, but overall it was pretty flavorful. This sandwich didn’t really ‘wow’ me but it definitely satisfied my hunger. My boyfriend really enjoyed his ribs. We were both quite full after finishing our lunch! The food is a bit pricy for what you get. I can’t really speak for the ribs since I didn’t try it, but I just didn’t feel like the sandwich matched up to its price.

I had the pick 3: wings with honey BBQ, 1⁄3 rack of ribs with spicy BBQ, and pulled pork with spicy BBQ. 2 sides: cornbread, slaw with mayo. Ribs & wings were excellent. Pulled pork was good, but I like more sauce in it. Cornbread was excellent, but needed butter. Slaw was the only thing I’d never get again. It needed salt and pepper and had too much vinegar. Service was excellent and the staff is super, super friendly. Really enjoyed chatting with them. Place is super small. Only two small tables. At the end, we were given a sample of the brisket. Wow, wow, wow! I don’t like brisket. But that piece of meat melted in my mouth. I will definitely be back to try some of that!

The food is outstanding and so is the customer service! Cornbread, mash, and chicken kebab was delicious! Can’t wait to try more things from the menu! If you don’t have time to wait I would call ahead since they make everything fresh!!!

Extremely good Brisket. I’m not very much a meat person, but this was a delight. Both spicy and regular BBQ had an excellent flavor. Super satisfied. I feel the vinegar coleslaw could have had more punch, to be honest. I’m not sure, though, that’s a pretty subjective thing. But I would have preferred a more sour flavor or a more spiced flavor(or both), but I could just the same see many people be thrown off by that. It was at least properly crispy. The corn bread was nice and fluffy with a good flavor, which seems silly to mention since cornbread isn’t crazy hard, but I’ve seen it messed up before. Also had a slice of smoked bacon, mouth-melting. I avoid pork normally but couldn’t say no to that. THANKSFORTHEFOOD! Owner or Cook(or both? not sure), in other words, the people one staff at the time I went had a clear understanding of the food and an obvious appreciation for good food. I think in general that’s very respectable and a good quality for a food establishment.

Had tried a bunch of things. My pork tasted like it was cold, warmed in microwave. Center was cold. Felt sick afterwards. Would not go back

This is our favorite place for bbq. It’s a in an inconspicuous hole in the wall on a side street. The owner and the employees are very nice and great to shoot the shit with. Their ribs are the perfect blend of fatty and meat. Their sides are good, but the meat is where it’s at. There’s a great selection of sauces as well. As for the person who said stuff tastes like it was microwaved, ummmmm they don’t even have a microwave in the whole place. :) There’s nothing that doesn’t taste like it spent all day on the smoker. Give them a try. You won’t be sorry.

Pretty good BBQ! The owner is really nice :) I’m not really used to a sour bbq sauce but I guess that’s just their style. I also thought the corn could have been cooked a little longer. The staff is great though and make you feel like a friend, not just a customer. I would recommend it to my friends.

I found this little gem while driving home from a protest, funny enough. Wanted to avoid the gross chain BBQ joints and was very happy to find this in Wakefield. Mostly take-out — a couple of tables. I ordered a full rack of ribs which turned out to be huge and very meaty. They are super flavorful and super smoked and very, very tender. We baked them for awhile because we prefer ours a bit more well-done, and I wish I had ordered more sauce to serve on the side. Cornbread was delicious. Roasted corn with aioli was so good I stole both pieces, ha ha. Cole slaw(vinegar) unremarkable — neither of us wanted more than a bite. Baked beans also very smoky — nice consistency, nothing that will compete with the ribs sauce. The owners were very friendly and I will definitely be back to try the wings and other dishes(I got a sample of the brisket which tasted divine!).

We put in a large order on a Friday night for pick up. I went in to grab the order. They were still making it, so I talked to the owner for a really long time. He doled out free samples to me, was hand cooking our food as we spoke and seemed really enthused with finding out how we heard about the restaurant. I would say the service really upped the experience for me. We got a little bit of everything on the menu and it was pretty good. It doesn’t really compare to a Blue Ribbon, but if we want BBQ that’s close by, we’ll definitely go back.

New to the area and found this place on here; said«hey, why not!» I wish there was parking, but I ended parking on the side of the road. The place itself is very small and kind of grungy. My order was made in less than five minutes and ready when I got there. I called for take-out and the person was really helpful by answering all my questions before ordering. He even read off the sides since the menu online didn’t have everything. I ordered the brisket sandwich and a side of dirty rice. In the beginning, I only wanted the brisket sandwich, but he said a side comes with it so I ordered the dirty rice. I was a bit surprised by the price. Once I got home and checked out the paper menu, I noticed that the brisket sandwich didn’t come with a side and that I had paid extra for a side. I was a bit annoyed since the side of dirty rice didn’t even taste good. It seemed like it was basmati rice with a little bit of seasoning. That is not what dirty rice is supposed to be like. I wouldn’t order the rice again. I should have gone with the mac and cheese or another side. The brisket sandwich itself was pretty good. Not too fatty or dry and it came with a good amount. I didn’t end up eating the bread that came with it since I thought it would be buttered and delicious. It was a base and boring roll. So just ate the brisket with a fork. It had just the right amount of bbq sauce. I think I would return only if I was in the area and had a craving for bbq. The other items sound good and some looked pretty good by the photos on here.

I did not like this place. From the second I walked in I said to myself this place is FILTHY and tiny and hot. I know it’s a take out place but it made me not want to eat food here. The man who does everything was extremely friendly but kind of tooo friendly to the point were it was awkward. I was told the food here was amazing… it really wasn’t. I also felt rushed to place my order. Food: 5 Service: 4 Cleanliness: 1 Atmosphere: 1

Cruising around the area looking for somewhere to eat, I landed on Pit Stop BBQ’s Unilocal page. I really enjoyed The Pit(pulled pork and beef brisket with some hot sauce in warmed up buns along with some mac and cheese on the side). While the food was delicious(post workout meal, please don’t tell me I gained more than that hour of cardio and lifting because I know all too damn well), the service was just OK. The wait for food was rather long and there wasn’t any ketchup, other condiments, and napkins on the table. They didn’t provide moist towelettes and I am not sure if they have a public bathroom. When I went to pay, the waiter who served me must have forgotten my face because he asked if I was getting food to go. That was pretty surprising considering it’s a tiny little restaurant. The seating area is two small tables, so I suggest getting food to go if you live close by.

Texans take their barbecue beef very seriously, so I don’t say this lightly: this is some damn fine brisket. Some of the best brisket I’ve had outside of Texas, in fact. It’s succulent and tender with a good, smoky flavor. The brisket sandwich is served on a nice, light bun with a just-right sauce. The sides are solid too. Next time I might venture out and get their burger with brisket and homemade bacon. I’ll have to skip breakfast that day.
