I wanted to have Oriental Express cover Hong Kong whilst they were regrouping. Not so much. I kept it simple. The phone order for delivery was exceptional and delivery time en pointe. The food unfortunately was a deal breaker. Pu Pu and Szechuan Jumbo Shrimp. Unidenti’fried’ objects, 2 small ribs knuckled up, and beef on a stick were old and dry. Shrimp toast and Eggrolls decent and not greasy. The Szechuan Shrimp was plump and could’ve saved the day but they packed a nasty red dipping sauce for the Pu Pu that was insulting and creepy.

I was so excited to have some good Chinese food. We are on a vacation road trip and have been driving most of the day. After ordering from oriental express We waited only 45 minutes for the order which was reasonable. After opening the bag and digging in we were disappointed to say the least. The chicken was pink very undercooked. The crab Rangoon was soggy and stale. And the pancakes that come with the vegetable moo shu was like raw dough. On a good note the veggie moo shu was good. Also the vegetable egg rolls were good. This is not a restaurant I would recommend though poor customer service as well. So sad this was such a disappointment.

I wouldn’t even give this 1 star! First off the rice was yellow and definitely pre packaged Spanish rice.(I thought this was a Chinese restraint!) also the chicken fingers were raw they were pink it’s Very dangerous! The pancake that comes with the musu wasn’t even cooked. The crab Rangoon was stale. And I would have many more complaints. It was unedible! When we called the restaurant the manager was extremely rude and said I don’t care! And argued with us! On a kind of positive note the mushu itself minus the pancakes was ok. Customer service was terrible and food was dangerous to eat!

Okay food at best and terrible customer service!!! I ordered delivery and they got the order wrong. When I called them the person on the phone first argued with me then in a snarky tone asked me what I wanted. I want my correct order and when that doesn’t happen an apology and offer for my order as soon as possible.

I love this place. I live in South Meriden and we drive to Wallingford for this place. The people here are extremely friendly. We stopped going to a local place because they were rude and their food just got worse and worse. We were excited to find this place as we love Chinese take out. Everything is always super fresh and tastes great. The only issue I have is the rice is just ok to me and the gravy for the egg foo young could be a little thicker. It’s not really even gravy, it’s like soy sauce in a cup. Other than that though, we are very satisfied customers.

Great place to come for their cheap lunch specials.

Had the general tso’s chicken lunch special. That comes with fries rice and an egg roll. Also had a can of diet Pepsi for $ 10.50. Seems too expensive to me. The chicken was crispy and tasted good. The rice was very orange in color and tasted odd. Not bad, but not sticky rice you become accustomed to getting at these little places. It didn’t fit if you know what I mean. The egg roll was good, nothing great. All in all, it was OK. I would pass on this place if in the area again.

This is our favorite Chinese place in the Wallingford area. We have gone to all the others but we keep coming back here. The place is small but if you decide to eat in, they treat you like family. They are all very pleasant and the food is spectacular

So my husband and I ordered from oriental express for the first time yesterday and I cannot believe how horrible the food was! First, the worst was hair in my order… You can literally see it throughout the lid of the container… immediately no good and thrown away! Second, they use parboiled rice(pre — cooked) it has a very distinctive taste and it isn’t good. Lastly the vegetables weren’t even properly cooked so hard you could probably lose a tooth. This is absoultely the worst place I have ever ordered from, period! Never again! So gross!!!

It’s been almost 2 months since I first got take out from here. Nothing has changed. It’s still just as good as the first time. The people who run the place and cook here are super nice. My favorite dish is Mushroom and Chicken. I always ask for baby corn with this. They are more than happy to oblige, it seems. The sauce in the mushroom and chicken is just delish. I’ve also tried a few other things here, but none as memorable as the chicken and mushroom. As long as the food stays consistant I can’t see ordering from anywhere else.

Not bad at all… cooked food has plenty of flavor, spicy dishes have plenty of heat, if you want to alter your dish a bit that can be done as well. Nice friendly workers. The only thing I didn’t like were the shrimp rolls… they were frozen. Will probably return. Oh yeah… its more like 3 ½ stars

After moving to Meriden a few years ago I have struggled to find a passable Chinese place. After discovering Oriental Express, I can safely say my search is over. They may not be the BEST Chinese food I’ve ever had, but they are darned close. Aside from the food, the owners are really quite friendly and make the experience fantastic. EDIT — I dropped the five stars down to three. The last two or three times I’ve eaten there it hasn’t been as good, and I’m pretty sure it made sick at least once. Based on those experiences I should probably give it less than three stars, but I’m balancing it out. Personally, I’m going to be avoiding them in the future.

This is not the best Chinese food I’ve had in town, but it is absolutely good Chinese food. It is fresh-tasting, not overly greasy, and they are good about fast delivery. It’s in the plaza with the Holiday Cinemas, on the side where the Dollar Store is. Don’t forget it’s there, and give it a try next time you hit the movies. It’s worth it.

This is a really good Chinese place, the General Tso’s is actually moist and flavorful and not fried to a crisp like other Chinese places in the area. They have awesome lunch specials, ranging in price fro $ 4.50– $ 6.00 or so. It’s so easy to forget about this place tucked away next to the vacant Friendly’s and other store fronts that have closed.
