The food is great and made fresh to order. I personally think that this place is better than 3 Bros from China, Peony, Zen, Yan’s and even Ming’s in our local area. We observed Judy and Jason(probably the owners) catering to their regulars a lot. We saw a lot of chit-chat and joking around. Can you spread the karma to your other customers? As newbies, we ordered a lot of food for lunch(not their luncheon specials) and thought we should have at least received a complimentary cup of soup(Ming’s offers that free) which is offered free with their reasonably priced luncheon specials. I thought the service was unfriendly and abrupt. We thought that we’ll make China Palace our first place to go for Chinese food, but due to our recent experience, I don’t think we’ll be back.

Amazing. The quality is fantastic. Not greasy. Fresh. Exactly what I am craving when I think Chinese. I’ve had other Chinese in walnut creek and it doesn’t even compare. I used to live by China town in Oakland — and this is not only on par — but superior. BESTHOTANDSOURSOUPIVEEVERHADHANDSDOWN!!! I get extra mushrooms because I’m a mushroom addict. Fried rice, veggies, salt and pepper chicken, chow mein, prawns and veggies, salt pepper prawns head/shell on, won ton soup… It’s all amazing. Plus they are SO sweet and SUPERFAST!!! Anyone that complains about this place needs to get another hobby. 5 stars from me every time and I order maybe once a week!

I work really close by so I’m a regular here. China Palace has been at this spot for a few years now, having replaced Sun Mei Chinese restaurant. At first, I was a little worried about the change in ownership as I was also a regular at Sun Mei but China Palace turned out to be way better! T H E F O O D The simplicity of the food here is what makes the food good. I’m a big fan of honey walnut prawns and they deliver here. The prawns are nice and crispy and not drowning in sauce which I appreciate. The combination chow fun is delicious! They definitely don’t skimp on the protein and the dish is also not too greasy. I love the Mongolian beef here! The beef is cooked just right and the onions plentiful. Yum! T H E S E R V I C E Judy, the owner, is amazing! She is so good with providing new menu suggestions and super friendly! Additionally, I appreciate how clean they keep this place. Cleanliness can be hit or miss at family owned restaurants and they stay on top of it here. Overall, one of my favorite Chinese restaurants on this side of CoCo county! Check it out.

Make sure you double check your order yourself. Specifically ordered fried rice. I even asked the woman working the front counter if this was fried rice, she said yes so I drove home. Got home and its white rice. Not a big deal, but i was charged 2 or 3 dollars more when they didnt even give me fried rice.

Very good service and great food. We are not locals and didn’t know where to go, it was getting late and we had the kids with us. We walked in 30 min before closing… I know terrible! But they were more than happy to serve us, and the food was amazing! The we had pork buns delish! Then we ordered sizzling rice soup, the broth was amazing! We also had a stir fry type of thing it was very good I don’t remember the exact name but it came with large shrimp and meat, very good. We also orders orange chicken my sons favorite and it was also very good. It’s right off the freeway so anytime we are driving through here will make sure to stop by.

We eat here at least once a week. We recently moved here from the East coast and we now live very close to China Palace. The food is always well prepared and delicious. Service is good and staff is very friendly, always thanking us for patronizing their business. We’ve tried the restaurant across the street but much prefer here because of the atmosphere and food

Went to this place for take out. Big mistake. Placed the order at 5:25 and they said the food will be ready in half an hour. I had to order for my family so I placed 10 dishes. I know that half an hour is gonna be a little quick so I went for coffee first. Arrived at 6:15 and no one acknowledged me for 5 minutes. Finally just said something to the waitress and she said ok. Waited another couple of minutes and she finally calculated out my order total. Paid for the thing and then proceeded to wait another half an hour for the food. Seriously??? Did you cook the food after I got here or something? No apology, no acknowledgement of how ridiculous the situation was. Nothing at all. Got back and already irritated, the portions were small for the prices and on top of that, the food was mediocre at best. Every single fried thing was way overcooked. The things that weren’t fried were dry. The taste was alright. Honestly, never going to come back here again. Mediocre food and absolutely the worst service ever. No reason to come back at all.

I am shocked people eat here!!! I came here with my husband and twin boys for lunch. I know we are spoiled when it comes to Chinese food because we go to Green Garden in Pleasant Hill. But we were in are the area, so we gave this place a shot! WORSTSERVICE, WORSTFOOD, ANDTOOEXPENSIVE!!! I cannot believe people come here and worse like the food!!! When even the steamed rice is stale and bad, you know you have arrived at a dump!!!

I’ve been eating from these owners for a long time. Delicious food with reasonably large portions but delivery time can take forever at times(over 2 hours in the past).

This place is the best! I work across the street and am a regular at China Palace. The lunch specials are a great deal and come with soup and a salad. I highly recommend the lemongrass chicken; it’s not fried so its a healthier option while still being delicious. However, everything I’ve had there is delicious. I’ve ordered China Palace for my office a few times and it’s a hit with everyone! The food is always delivered on time, hot, and is a crowd pleaser for a reasonable price. The owner(woman) is hilarious and makes it one of my favorite places to eat.

We had a to go order. Fast service! We had pork strips, chicken wings hot & sour soup, egg rolls, orange chicken & chicken fried rice. The best was the chicken wings and soup. Some may find the pork strips on the dry side but we liked them like that. We got a lot of food for little over $ 50 and got two dinners for two people out of the one order. So was a good value. Will go back for sure. One star removed only removed because it wasn’t the best I have had but still really good.

Solid take-out option in my neighborhood. However, I have to say that they take FOREVER getting the food out. I called in my order, and they advised 20 minutes… however, when I got there, I still had to wait. I checked and it was 40 minutes. I can forgive them b/c they have the handmade noodles in the tantan noodle dish. Yum.

Rude. Walked in(zero customers) and the woman didn’t even look up from her phone to greet us. We asked if they were open and she simply said«yea». We walked out after she slammed a couple of menus down on the table and expected us to sit.

My favorite Chinese spot in town which I have been ordering for about three years. Great potstickers, crab dumplings, egg rolls, mixed chow mein, fried rice, and orange chicken.(I tend to order the same stuff). Traditional old school Chinese food the way I like it.

Tried the jja-jjang mien and it’s very good! Noodles in black bean sauce, not the pale mild tasting version found in Chinese restaurants like Sichuan Fortune House(both locations) but like the Korean-Chinese version which is hearty and meaty. This version is better than Pollo Pollo’s, which was so-so in my opinion. Location also has jjang bong, a spicy seafood noodle soup, which I will try soon and update this posting. If it’s as good as the jja-jjang mien, then this will become my go to place for these dishes from now on rather than trekking all the way to Oakland or SF Also had the eggplant in garlic sauce which was also delish!

Working in Walnut creek and was looking for a dinner spot. Very empty on a Thursday night at 8:30 and was concerned but trusted my Unilocal brethrren. Was not disappointed. Fine dining it is not but friendly, courteous, quick and delicious it was. Had the salt and pepper prawn and made it a dinner with hot and sour soup, potsticker and fried rice. I’m a huge hot and sour soup fan and was satisfied with the soup although it was nothing to write home about. A single potsticker was disappointing when it arrived but it was large and meaty and delicious. There was soy and hot sauce btought to the table to make my own dipping sauce which I continued to use later in the meal. The main course was great. Just the right amount of salt and seasoning, the breading was light and crispy and you could tell that the oil it was cooked in was fresh. The portion size was large I would say probably at least 15 healthy sized shrimp, not the little dinky ones you sometimes get either. You can order it with the shell on if that is your thing but it is not my thing. Fried rice was delicious too. I mean, I never really get excited about fried rice but I know when its not good … and that was not the case. I think the owner’s daughter took my order(she was the one who recommended the salt and pepper prawn after I asked her what her favorite was) and then the owner Judy came in later and its was very attentive and friendly. Had a glass of white wine since red was only by the bottle. About $ 25 for the whole meal which is pretty reasonable. Sure I’ll be back with the work crew for lunch one of these days.

I’m yet to try other Chinese places in WC but this was the closest(Yan’s will be next). They offer free delivery on orders over $ 25, which we didn’t take advantage of but that is totally awesome. As some other reviewers have noted, a 15 minute wait time quote was really more like 25, though the very sweet lady at the front chatted with us about how they had sold 61 chow fun’s that day(including ours) and they made their noodles by hand, meaning her husband was back in the kitchen working his hands to the bone making flat noodles. I love to support businesses like this. The prices, by WC standards, were quite good. Chow fun was in the $ 8 range, which is actually cheaper than it is at my two favorite Davis locations where things tend to be about 1.5x cheaper. Overall the food was very good but not the best we’ve had. Not sure if it is a style of fried rice or just a missed mark, but the fried rice lacked salt and soy sauce and was sort of more like a white rice stir fry as a result. The chow fun and honey walnut prawns were tasty. The steamed pork bun appetizer was only so-so — the outside had dried a bit hard and the pork-to-bun ratio was off, with full mouthfuls of porkless bun being somewhat commonplace. All in all this is a solid place with nice service and good food, and with their delivery option and proximity to our apartment we are likely to be back, but I will have to try 3 or 4 more Chinese locations in the area before I crown the winners.

I remember writing a review for the old version of this place — man, it was bad. But this is a new business, with new owners. I reluctantly gave it a try based on the recent reviews, and was surprised to find that the food is actually good. So much so, it’s become our go-to take out place. Yes, Americanized Chinese food, very much in line with what you’d find at Mings. They have dishes like Egg Foo Young, which are very hard to find in this part of the country(yet a staple at every Chinese place in NY for example). Friendly owners. When ordering, they always tell me «20 minutes» and it always takes a bit longer. I just plan for this now, no big deal. BevMo is right next door so you can always pop in there to get some beer and wine while you are waiting for your order.

Still good. Service was a little off at first, but warmed up toward the end. Food also took a little long to receive, however tasted delicious. Ordered the Garlic Chicken-spicy, but full of flavor. Not as good as Yan’s across the street, though still decent.
