Starbucks

I don’t really do the whole ‘Buck$$$$$ thang (I mean, I just got into coffee very recently #supezn00b & overpaying has never been my deal in life so me & Starbucks aren’t even on the same wave) but as a top notch receptionist (I mean duh!) I’ve been the recipient of quite a few ‘Buck$ gift cards and I usually just buy coffee buy the bag from this spot inside of Safeway (since I’m usually perusing Safeway at 8 in the morning anyway. Who isn’t?)
The folks here are very nice and helpful and since – as I mentioned – I’m a total beginner with all things caffeinated they take the time to explain the nuances and variety of flavors to me. I wish I remember the name of this lovely lady who is especially sweet but when you’re a star like she is you kind of illuminate all on your own, I’m sure you’ll recognize her brilliant personality!

Ok, they’ve won me over. I don’t know if they actually read their reviews, or it just took a while to warm up, but almost every day since I posted my last review they’ve remembered my order. Today I was rushing to work to make an 8AM conference call and I thought I was going to be late standing in the ever-​present line, but my latte was ready when I walked up to the register. I have to make Unilocal amends.

On ⁵⁄₂₇ I called the store and asked about their traveler box because my company is having a meeting and they wanted some Starbucks coffee. I called and he said he’d leave a message for the morning shift to make some. I told him I needed it by 8am. So he took my name and number down and said it be ready for 7:30am on the 28^th. So I get there at 7:30am and tell the guy behind the counter that I was there to pick up my traveler. He said with a slight attitude, «We don’t have travelers.» I said the guy I called yesterday told me that they did and he took my name. He said, «Yea, but we don’t have them.» So you had my name and number and didn’t bother to get of your ass to call me to tell me you didn’t have any and made me waste my time?! I was extremely pissed. Thankfully I remembered the Starbucks by my old work, the one at 2922 North Main Street, was nice enough to do it for me :) I will never return to this Starbucks. I rather drive a few miles more to get better service at the other one.

The Starbucks in Safeway… it’s guaranteed to be a hit or miss. I’ve been to a few that are pretty good despite their location, but this one is absolutely terrible.
1^st…LONG lines, despite the fact that there’s a second starbucks 2 blocks away.
2^nd…they are usually understaffed so those long lines get longer. Sometimes there will be ONE person making drinks and taking orders!
3^rd…the drinks aren’t always warm. What’s up with that?
And Last, the WORST reason to go there, the service is terrible. The baristas (who are usually friendly and warm) are moody, irritable, and rude. They make snippy comments and roll their eyes at you. I’ve watched them be rude to 4 customers in row!
For me, customer service is the worst thing, a dealbreaker. I would rather go to the other starbucks, brave the parking and lines, just so I can get the stellar service starbucks usually stands for.

Alright, I will first say that I know I’m cranky and hard to please, so I guess I’m a little harsh. I will say that Phil is the bright spot to this safeway. Always friendly, always makes your drink perfectly. There is one other guy who works the mornings, and he’s alright too. It’s the girls who drive me crazy. If ONE MORE girl waits until I’ve PAID before saying, «A delicious blueberry scone would go great with that. Can I wrap one up for you?» I’m gonna throw up.

This Starbucks is within Safeway, on the right-​hand side entrance.
They’re usually understaffed and not very well organized. I hate to say this, because they do seem to try; however, this Starbucks just doesn’t seem on the ball like other branches. Perhaps being housed in a Safeway contributes to this? I don’t know.
Vanilla Latte review: a bit sugary and not enough of a strong coffee flavor for me. Also, not served hot enough — ask for extra hot if you like it to stay warm a while.
