Went for dinner and got the Una ma’s nachos with carnitas. It was delicious and definitely the biggest nachos for the price. Also had the carnitas taco, it was good but it needed some hot sauce. Definitely would come back though.

After living in Concord for 3 years, my brain has officially become warped by the sight of a taqueria. If it’s a privately owned taqueria, it must be killer, right? Not so much in Walnut Creek. BF and I popped in to grab lunch on Christmas Eve, as we had never tried them and they were one of very few places open. It was apparent very quickly they had the corporate vibe as their menu was cartoonishly colorful, and full of item names like the Foghead Burrito, the Pineapple Thai Burrito(morbid curiousity admittedly almost got me on that one), and the unfortunate California Style burrito, an abomination stuffed with French fries that I thought was limited to SoCal. Eeesh. I thought I played it safe by ordering their nachos, thinking it would be quick, and you were able to personalize them a little(choose your meat, black or refried beans, etc.). I went with chicken, which was chopped up and tasted like nothing, black beans that were the most plentiful ingredient(nachos is all about balance, folks!), and shredded cheese blasted under the salamander instead of a nice sauce or even a cheese blend. The portion was quite generous for the price, but overall they were quite blah and took a rather long time to come out despite the place being empty. I was also underwhelmed by the interior — the seating area and the food preps area didn’t have an especially clean look to them, and the lone employee working that day had to retrieve sour cream out of a massive bucket to slop on my nachos. Ignorance is bliss, folks. An icky vibe mixed with lackluster eats means I won’t be returning, there are FARTOOMANY superior taquerias nearby to justify ever returning to a place with no real care for quality ingredients. You’d be better off at Taco Bell.

Somewhere between Taco Bell and any real authentic taqueria lies Una Mas. The front counter is set up like Chipotle except with a lot less options. The counter gave off a lot of unappetizing visuals. The carnitas looked dried out, there was cheese sprinkled over many other toppings including the salsa and the refried beans looked like they were fresh out of a can. I am not judging a beauty contest so lets move on to the food. I ordered the Gallito Grilled Burrito with chicken. The menu says lots of cheese and lots of cheese is what they provide. The cook let it grill on the flat top a few minutes letting the cheese get nice and melted then started filling it with steak. Yes I asked for chicken, but I am OK with steak as well plus I didn’t have a lot of time to fuss. A very genrours portion of steak then the whole thing is topped with guacamole and salsa fresca. Everything was very hot and tasted quite good. However the burrito sin was commited. She layered my burrito. All the ingredients tasted great but would taste better if I was able to have them in the same bite. The top was cheese and guacamole. Then cheese and salsa fresca and finally cheese and ton of steak. The salsa bar is pretty minimal. I tried both the mild salsa and the picante salsa. The picante wasn’t bad but the mild salsa tasted like marinara with a little bit of a kick. The food was good but the service lacked. There was one cook working everything from perparing to coocking and ringing up. Not the best Mexican food and not the worst. With so many great taqueria’s in such close proximity of my home, I think I will stick with them. Adiós Una Mas

It’s hit or miss when u go here. Mainly based on who makes your burrito. I have had good times and bad times. A good day you get everything you asked for and paid for. Others you pay for extra toppings and the guy doesn’t put them on… but still charges you. Rather annoying. Also they have wifi but if you ask them for it, they say they don’t have any wifi. I showed them that they did, in fact have wifi… they started speaking to me in Spanish and laughed. I assume that was an insult. So I’m not going back there again. I wish you good luck. The foods great, just not the people behind the counter.

Got the fajita chicken burrito again. Was even better than the first time! So many great veggies and they put on a great amount of cheese, sour cream, and guacamole. I love the corn salsa and cilantro rice! Their chips also have a great salty lime flavor. The lady who made our burritos was very nice today, too! From two stars to five Una Mas!

I dont really write reviews unless its really great or really terrible. This place is horrible. So overpriced and not good. Their version of enchiladas is two tacos drenched in tasteless red sauce for ten dollars. Meat is chunks of grisle with no seasoning, salsa tastes canned, and the cheese is literally the trxture of cardboard. Terrible excuse for Mexican food.

Walked in and took a look at the menu. Went up to the cashier to order a burrito and started to say my order. I was cut off by the staff mid order and they begin to ask my boyfriend what he wanted — I thought maybe they didn’t realize I started ordering so no big deal. The staff then asked me to walk around to place my order so I walked to where the tortillas were. I started to say my order and I was completely ignored again. I wasn’t even being acknowledged by the staff standing right in front of me. My boyfriend usually likes to get the same thing I get so he was waiting for me to go first but they just looked past me and to him for his order before mine. I looked at him and we both had a bad feeling so we just left. They managed to say thank you and to come again as we walked out… nice, right? I am not sure if the guy was having a bad day but it’s not cool to treat potential customers like that. Especially one that has a Unilocal account. We ended up going down the street to chipotle.

Horrible experience. I’ve been here many times but probably no mas. I walked in and ordered the veggie burrito. The gentleman behind the counter slapped some veggies on the grill(ok he didn’t even ask what I liked or wanted). Then the woman behind the counter yells out $ 7.04 almost before the veggies hit the grill.(ok, why not wait until I get my food?) Ok, it gets much worse from here. The cook behind the counter then ignores me and goes and waits on several more folks before rushing back. Here is where it gets bad. He grabs a burrito tortilla without asking me what flavor I wanted and starts throwing something in it. I stop and ask him, «don’t have a choice of burrito tortilla?» He looks at me puzzled and I tell him I’d like the spinach. Then without asking me what I want in it he starts throwing stuff in!!! I say, «wait, wait… Don’t I get a choice?(I’m allergic to milk and don’t want any cheese). He says, «you want everything?» I said no… I’d like to pick! He’d already put on the black beans and Spanish rice… too late to change. then he throws some cheese on! I say… no I can’t eat cheese! he scrapes some off! He adds maybe a couple of more veggies I want such as guacamole then he closes up the burrito! I say… there’s several other things here I want! So I say onions, lettuce and a couple more toppings… like pulling teeth. Then he wraps the soft tortilla around the veggies and the tortilla rips. By this time I just wanna get the hell out never to return. So the cashier puts it in a bag and I’ve always gotten chips there before along w the burrito but they don’t even mention it. So I ask for it and she reaches down and throws a bag in. Just an all round crappy experience at Una mas in walnut Creek on Friday night March 28, 2014! Shame on you!

My co-worker and I decided we had a hankering for some outside of work lunch. I went back and forth on Unilocal and couldn’t find anything within a few minutes of driving, so we ventured out and figured we would find something that caught our eye. Conveniently located off of Treat and Bancroft, and just a few minutes from my office in the Park Shadelands. Seemed to have pretty good parking, we luckily snagged one of the two open spots in front of this place. I ordered a Monterrey quesadilla with the pulled/shredded pork. It was so good and nicely sized. My co-worker ordered a chicken burrito«it was fresh and really tasty» per my co-worker. The chips were fresh, crispy, and hot! LOVE chips like this! We were both pleased. The service was nice and friendly. The food was good. We will come back again. Oh side note, I realized once we were in this place that we had a catered rep lunch. I remember the lunch being well made and on time! For reps that cater medical office lunches, I would get this place! The staff and providers enjoyed it.

California style is my favorite, it has french fries inside, I get the steak with guacamole! Two of my favorite things, fries and burritos!

01/11/2014-quick update to say that the manager did message me to address my concerns and asked what I thought could make it a better experience. Thumbs up for that-at least it shows they want to do better-I still had a two star experience but kudos for looking to making improvements-perhaps I’ll give it another try… Blegh.I had a coupon in one of those weekly mailers for a buy one get one free burrito. Being it was right after the holidays and we were trying to be more frugal, my boyfriend and I came here on a recent Friday night to get some dinner to go. First bad sign-there was one other person in the place at 7:15 p.m. on a Friday. Then, after asking for a veggie burrito, they said they were«out of veggies.» What, at a burrito place, really? I saw they had some red peppers and onions sitting with the rest of the toppings bar so I asked that they throw some on the grill for me to build my veggie burrito out. At that point, we probably should have left, but we’re stubborn and stuck it out. As for the rest of the experience, the place seemed creepy and dirty-the food prep area didn’t seem very sanitary and the staff was pretty aloof. Not really a great experience. The food turned out okay-it lacked flavor and the salsa was pretty watery. Skip it-you can probably do better at Chipotle or Freebirds. Yuck for this place…

Giving this place a great big«PASSEROONI» and a nice, wet raspberry on top. You shouldn’t offer delivery service IFYOU’RENOTGOINGTODELIVER. Called them two days in a row via , and in BOTH instances, they couldn’t confirm with the restaurant or with the owner. If that’s an example of what they have to offer delivery service-wise, I don’t want to find out what eating in is like. Sorry, cats, you don’t get a third strike. We’ll stick with Baja Fresh.

Okay, I really like this place. Keep in mind that I pretty much just get bean burritos, so not terribly exciting. At this point in my life I wonder how many hundreds or maybe thousands of bean burritos I have eaten in my life. Things I like: *No animal products in beans or rice. Also, cilantro rice is awesome. *Diet Pepsi FTW. Seriously, haters, you can get Coke anywhere. I don’t want to hear it. *Delicious salsa. The one I love is I think called ranchera. *Kids meals are large enough for an adult and cheap. I think my usual order, with a burrito, rice, beans, chips, and small drink, is $ 4.45 including tax. *I get American Airlines points for dining here and using my card linked to iDine. What I don’t like: *It is always too freakin’ cold in the indoor dining area. I suppose it is an HVAC issue to compensate for the heat generated by the kitchen.

We come here pretty much exclusively to pick up «Orange Rice» for my kid. He loves Mexican rice but my wife, despite being a Chef, is unable to make orange rice to his satisfaction. Hence, we load up on it whenever we run out and buy a few containers. Una Mas being very close to our house, it’s the logical go-to place for us to pick up Orange Rice. I haven’t really tried any of their other dishes here but I’ll make sure to update my review if and when I do.

We used to go here before they sold it and it was amazing. I recently went in and the place was FILTHY! The person at the register had an apron on that looked like she had not washed it in way too long. There was so much food on it I wonder how she can even be allowed to wear it. Clearly cleanliness and food safety are not on her mind. Wondered if she even washes her hands. I love their hottest salsa but I will not ever set foot in that place again. Hopefully the owner will see this and look at how disgusting the place is. But I will not hold my breath. That’s my review. I am so disappointed that they have gone so far down hill because we used to love this place.

I hadn’t been to an Una Mas in a long time — and I drive past this place every day on my way home. I stopped in last night for a quick taco and some chips. I ordered a veggie taco and the girls working together grabbed a huge handful of freshly chopped veggies(a good mix) and roasted them on a hot surface. It looked great! I asked for all possible other veggies(lettuce, guac) and a crunchy shell. It was sooooo good. The chips were in a GIANT bowl and had a HUGE thing of pico de gallo, which wasn’t really necessary since I wanted the hot sauce from the salsa bar. There was also a medium and a verde salsa. All three were good. I munched a couple jalapeño carrots as well. A couple chips were super salty(but I really like that) and they all tasted crispy and fresh. Sadly, I filled my medium drink with sweetened iced tea :(I much prefer unsweetened. But hate being wasteful so I just drank it. I filled my cup again before leaving. Much better unsweetened. Service was good. Food was great. It was just over $ 7 which is kind of a lot for one taco. If I’d have known the size of the chips order I probably would have passed. It was so much for one person! I’d just get two tacos instead next time.

This place is AWFUL. 0 stars if I could. The man helping us messed up our order TWO times, then got frustrated with US because he can’t listen. He was looking at the TV more than half the time, and just completely rude and not helpful in the least. I haven’t been here in months, and for good reason, and they either changed their tacos or just today was a REALLY bad day. The beef was honestly the worst beef I’ve ever had for a taco, and I even uploaded a picture of it’s so gross. A giant 3 inch piece with fat covering the piece, uncut in the taco. It tasted awful. They also only use one tortilla for the tacos now, so they fall apart with any amount of topping. So amateur. taquerias are one of the easiest food businesses in the entire industry, and it also has one of the lowest overhead, there is no exception for charging $ 7 a plate and having the quality suck this bad, and the service this awful. We will never return to this establishment, it is disgusting. Link to the«beef» this is supposed to be a TACO:
