Love this place! We come in once a week to eat at the sushi bar, sushi is always fresh. Highly recommend to come in and check this place out!

Wow. What an experience. Came here on a Saturday night and line just to be seated took 40 minutes. However, with the amount of customers, we were seated as soon as possible. I came here with two other friends and we decided to order the famous $ 100 combination. I never experienced the type of quality in sashimi that they presented. This combination came with three main dishes: fresh sashimi w/live lobster & Uni sashimi, Uni bowls, and lobster soup. Along with these three main dishes came with many side dishes such as, oyster shooters, sea snails, seaweed, fried garlic, and many more! Also, even with the restaurant being a full house the service was actually quite amazing. I’ll be back again!

I visites here on Sunday around 5pm so l did not have to wait for a table. I was seated right away and ordered the famous uni bowl. The restaurant got busy after few minutes later I arrived even thought it was Sunday night so I assume they must be super busy during Friday or Saturday. I would suggest arrive a little earlier than the normal dinner hours to avoid the long lines. Anyways the uni bowl was a little bit bland to my taste. It looked great and i thought it was such a great idea to serve the dish in a empty uni shell but i discovered one of uni spikes in my rice. My friend ordered a dinner box that comes with tempura and cali rolls and it was okay

Dinner on Friday, 12÷25÷15(first time visiting) Merry Xmas! They’re open but parking is ample. Make sure you make reservations as they can get busy real fast. It’s a small restaurant located next to the liquor store. Since it was Christmas Day, service was lacking. They forgot to bring out the ban chans and the attentiveness of the servers were delayed. We ordered the lobster sashimi deal for our party of six but it wasn’t distributed properly. Our neighboring table with a party of two had the same portions as our party of six. There wasn’t enough food to go around. As for the uni rice bowl, they didn’t have the sea urchin shells to serve as a bowl for presentation. It was my first time visiting but my mom has been here several times so she informed me of what we should be expecting for the $ 45/person lobster sashimi meal. Aside from not having the appropriately portioned amount of food, the quality was good. I would come back again when it isn’t so busy though.

Came here for the first time tonight. We had passed by this restaurant many times and I saw the 4⁄5 Unilocal review rating so we decided to venture out of our usual go to sushi restaurant. It is located on a busy street across from In N Out and right next door to a Farmers Market. Parking is a challenge so if you don’t find it in the street then good luck. You can try the Farmers Market but they are usually full. Here are the reasons for my 3 star rating : 1. Food– this is a Korean Sushi restaurant. While they serve the typical Korean appetizers the taste is mediocre at best. Potato Salad was very sweet and mushy and the broccoli and bean sprout were just ok– lackluster in flavor. Note to self: how do you mess up potato salad? Radish was good. I ordered their Salmon teriyaki bento box which came with soup(the worst Miso soup I have ever had – it was bitter), combination tempura, and a very stale and sorry looking salad that I did not even touch. Husband had their combo sushi dinner and this was actually decent. We also split a tiger roll and did not find it to be that great either. Because we were unimpressed with the food or value, 2 Stars were removed. It cost us $ 50 for the above dinner and given the quality and taste I think we paid about 25 bucks too much. This is a first time last time restaurant for us.

Best sushi in town, hands down. Their prices are cheap and their sushi is fresh. Plus they have uni bowls. Very rare for a place to carry that. Been here 7 times already and not one time have I been disappointed.

Terrible service I have experienced! I have been to Man Sun three times and this will be my last time to eat there. They are so rude to us. We have six people and order four special combos, but they don’t give us uni bowls, only some rice and a little uni in a small bowl. When we asked why we don’t have the uni bowl like we ate before, they said they don’t have enough uni. But we see other tables have the uni bowls. The large sashimi plate tastes not good. We also wait for a long time for our udon. We are so disappointed!

My family and I only recently discovered this place and love this hidden gem! For being a 5 min walk from my parents earns it 5 stars alone. But actually regardless of proximity, their fish is super fresh, creative dishes, and reasonable prices. Uni is hands down one of my favorite foods, and I can easily get my fix here. Also, the staff is awesome. The two times I’ve been, it was two young gentleman waiting tables, who were super friendly and helpful. I remember when I was their age, I was not that pleasant. Ha. Impressed with their maturity and responsibleness working what I can only guess is a family restaurant.

I wish I could give 4and half star to this restaurant. Def recommend the Uni Rice bowl. It’s a five star dish. The taste is amazing. Uni is super fresh with sweet after taste. Mixing with some seaweeds and sesame oil. The ingredient is simple but super fresh and bringing up refreshing feeling from the sea. We ordered combo special($ 45/person). You have to order at least two combo at same time. The combo comes with little dishes. Then follow with a huge sashimi platter. The sashimi is fresh. After the sashimi, it comes with the awesome ever Uni rice bowl. The final course is the lobster soup, the soup has too much pepper in it which cover other ingredients’ original taste.

Recently dined in and got the«Love Boat» dinner special, $ 29.95. It’s worth noting that if you prefer sashimi, you’re better off going with the Man Sun Dinner special. The Love Boat consists of chicken teriyaki, two types of rolls, and like four pieces of sashimi. It was good but I prefer sashimi over rolls. Will be sticking to the usual Man Sun Dinner from now on!

For ~$ 15, the uni bowl is served in its spiky shell with a thick bed of creamy uni still attached and hidden underneath sushi rice, seaweed salad and masago. There was a good amount of uni in the sea urchin I got, and they were all big pieces. It was nice to dig and keep finding more and more uni with each bite of rice. The uni tasted decently fresh and not too fishy/briny. Complimentary to the order were hot brown rice tea, miso soup, banchans, salad, and green tea ice cream. The brown rice tea was interesting with actual crispy bits of rice. The banchans included were shiitake, bean curds, bean sprouts, broccoli, radish, and mashed potato. Miso soup, salad and ice cream were standard. All this together made for a really good deal and satisfying meal. We parked in the lot for the farmers market/liquor store and walked over. There’s also street parking available.

Holy, they give u like 20 dishes if you order the $ 45 omakase.(I wish the small plates were free to refill like the side dishes that were served at other korean restaurants) I personally think it’s too much food if u ordered 1 set per person. We had 6 people and ordered 4 sets of the omakase and it was PLENTY! My favorite dish was the vegetable pancake(weird huh), but that doesn’t mean the other seafood dishes weren’t good. The uni bowl was their signature and it was SO fresh! The sashimi platter was also pretty amazing! This place is pretty small so I would recommend calling them ahead of time.

A fan of their Uni Bowls that comes in a Uni Shell!(on the secret menu only!) Which is super filling! I love that the Uni was fresh! You can tell Uni is fresh because it doesn’t taste fishy. Caution: you may find a few of the spikes from the shell in your bowl. I bit in a few while eating. Their Lunch special choices are pretty good and reasonable price! This restaurant is korean/japanese fusion, so you’ll get some ban chan and miso soup with your meals. Service was great and food was delicious! Street parking only!

Honestly, I only came here after I saw all the uni bowl pictures on Instagram lol But I wasn’t disappointed, the uni bowl was really good! It’s not on the menu so you have to ask them for it. The woman who took our order, who I’m assuming is the manager, told us that their uni bowls are usually very large but that particular day only had small ones so she brought out 2 for us, which was nice because we totally wouldn’t have known if she didn’t tell us. We also ordered one of the dinner sashimi specials, the tuna melted in my mouth, it was sooo good The location is small and there’s probably going to be a wait so I would recommend coming during non-rush hour times. The only problem I have is the service, it was pretty busy the day that I went however, the service was pretty freakin’ bad. There were multiple servers who walked around looking like they were lost puppies. They were seriously just kinda wandering around and didn’t seem like knew what to do. I had to flag them down multiple times for water or even just to take our order. If it weren’t for the bad service, I would’ve given them 5 stars but my meal turned out to be like almost 2 hours because they were so slow.

Food was great, huge portions for a very reasonable price. I got the lunch box special which was a great deal. The only reason I gave it a 4⁄5 is because they weren’t really attentive to us. I had to ask for water, my check, a spoon, and anything else I needed not once did they check on us. I also had to waive them down a couple times. However the food portions and the quality of food made it worth it. I would go there again.

Came here for the Uni bowl and they did not disappoint! BOOM!!! Loved it! Cannot wait to try more Uni. Parking in Farmers Market lot. Friendly service from the staff and loved the feel of their environment. We will be back again for more uni bowls and I gotta try their lunch specials!

This restaurant is Korean owned which explains why the dishes came with banchan(side dishes) when normally a true Japanese style restaurant isn’t structured that way. This hybrid mix of both Korean and Japanese is brilliant! I came here for the live uni bowl($ 14) which I found out wasn’t even listed on the menu. The wait staff explained that the combo packages were a better deal so we ended up getting the Man Sun Sashimi Special plate in medium for $ 75. This package came with two live uni bowls, a pretty decent sized sashimi platter, seaweed and several other small banchan dishes and there was lobster soup at the end. Talk about one hearty meal for $ 75. I think the portion was perfect for two people! Venue: This place is pretty small so I can only imagine that the wait could possibly be horrendous. We were fortunate to make a reservation and avoided all that unnecessary wait time. There’s both bar and table seating. If you’re going to order a combo and share, I would suggest grabbing a table. We were seated at the bar and so laying out the dishes was difficult. We had to shift and rearrange our plates every time a new plate came in. Parking: I didn’t see a parking lot or structure. Looks like there’s only side street parking from what I recall… This place exceeded my expectations, especially since the outside décor didn’t look quite welcoming. I’ll definitely be back again! I loved my dining experience here. My tummy was happy and everything was so fresh!

What a delicious hole in the wall sushi place in Walnut! So glad I found this place! Location/Parking: Honestly I had no idea where it was. And did not see it when I «arrived» according to my gps. It’s facing the street on the side of the liquor store(near the market). I parked at the grocery store parking lot and that seemed fine. The parking lot on the other side(hardware store side) had a smaller lot but was less busy. Service: Super nice and accommodating. NOTE: they close at 2:30 and then open again for dinner. We didn’t know and got there at 2 but they were really very kind about everything and didn’t rush us even though we tried to hurry for them. Food: Side dishes(branchan): I have never been to a sushi place with so many side dishes or any for that matter! This is like a Korean/Japanese mix. All of which were delicious too! They had bean sprouts, tofu skins, a sweet mashed potato plate and more. I would have taken a picture but we were too hungry and attacked them all right away. Oops! Man Sun Sashimi($ 16): Sooo good! The sashimi is very fresh and tastes amazing! The lunch plate was VERY filling for me and totally worth it’s price. The presentation of the plate was so pleasing to the eyes as well. It also comes with miso soup, salad and tempura! Definitely worth it! Uni bowl($ 14): This is one of their specialty dishes! It’s not on their menu so just ask your waiter. If you’ve never tried Uni before, uni is a part of the sea urchin. It’s on the sides of the bowl/shell which comes with rice, caviar, seaweed, ginger and more which was a great complement when mixed with the uni. It has a soft, squishy, and buttery texture and has a very unique taste. Some people have told me salty and fishy. I think it’s fishy, but different… and not so salty. You’ll have to try it to see! Green tea ice cream: Love the green tea ice cream which is a complementary dessert! I always love free ice cream Overall this place exceeded my expectations! Their cuts were all so fresh and beautifully displayed. I was stuffed after all of the food my friends and I got. It’s definitely worth what you pay for. If you’re in the mood for sushi this is the place to go! I recommend coming here!

For a Korean-run sushi restaurant, it isn’t too bad. Came here for dinner on a weeknight and there was luckily no wait and open parking in the lot in front of the exercise equipment store. I was surprised to see a restaurant basically in the middle of no where… For 2 people, we were told the family boat($ 70) would be a good sized item on the menu to share. It came with unlimited banchan, miso soup, salad, teriyaki chicken, 16 pieces of sushi and 32 pieces of rolls. I do admit, it was a struggle for 2 people to finish but it’s definitely do-able. Sushi was a combination of salmon, tuna, albacore, yellowtail and the rolls were a mix of california roll, california roll with avocado/shrimp on top, spicy tuna and a tempura roll with eel sauce. As far as the food goes, I’d say pretty average. In hindsight, I wish we ordered more sashmi/sushi and less of the rolls. If you love rolls, the family boat might be a good decision but I am more of a fan of the sushi/sashimi. I just feel terrible about myself that we paid THAT much for a majority of rolls… If you want bang for your buck, this is not a bad place to go to. They seem to have a lot of combinations and specials in their menu for pretty good prices. Maybe I’ll give this restaurant another go and order the uni bowl everyone seems to enjoy.

We arrived at Man Sun with hopes of fulfilling our sushi cravings after finding out Ootoro was closed on Sundays! There went our plans! We got lucky with parking and got a spot at the mini parking lot for the exercise shop next door. They were closed, so it was fair game. There wasn’t a wait when we arrived and were greeted cheerfully by some of the staff. Unfortunately, service wasn’t consistent during the night. Some waitresses seemed moody and barely acknowledged any of our«thank yous.» Just poured water and turned away without a smile or anything. I already came in here hoping to get a delicious chirashi bowl because Ootoro has won my heart over with theirs. I got the #3 off their dinner specials list, since it sounded just like a chirashi bowl with it stating«raw fish» and«fish egg.» I agree with the other Unilocaler who stated there needs to be descriptions on the menu. The order was actually a plate that came with salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and etc. The fish was fresh, but the cuts were on the smaller side. Compared to Ootoro expectations I was underwhelmed. Not to mention, the fish egg had a tinge of rose/floral flavor? That was odd. My boyfriend agreed. He got a dinner combo that came with sushi, nigiri, and tempura. The salad that came with it was good I have to say. We even received some banchan dishes, since it’s Korean owned. I enjoyed them, but the boyfriend, not so much. I also forgot to mention that it took FOREVER for someone to take our order when everything was already dying down. I was ready to leave, but thankfully someone came by right when the thought crossed my mind. If the waitresses were a bit friendlier I would probably have had a more enjoyable experience. Too bad.
